Celebrating 60 Years of Innovation

O’Neill have just released video called “Celebrating 60 Years of Innovation.”

The video is part of O’Neill’s 60th Anniversary celebrating since founder Jack O’Neill started testing out his wetsuits that allowed him to surf the icy waters of San Francisco Bay.

More of the story can be found in Drew Kampion’s book, Jack O’Neill: It’s Always Summer on the Inside.

A portion of sales from the book go to Jack’s own non-profit environmental education program, O’Neill Sea Odyssey.

“Fool’s Gold” snowboard movie

Isenseven have just released a teaser to their new film “Fool’s Gold” coming up in September.

The film is directed by Alex Schiller, Tom Elliott and Vincent Urban, and looks to feature their usual high production values and quirky sense of fun.

It includes a pan-European array of snowboarding stars including Alex Tank, Christian Haller and Christophe Schmidt, representing the different aspects of shredding from grubby jib kids to comp jockeys.

The full movie will be available this autumn. Get ready!

Longboard icon Kassia Meador floats serenely across the majestic waves in surfer and filmmaker Bruce Muller’s Echo. The visual meditation is the first of four shorts teasing the release this fall of Frequencies, an experimental documentary and visual essay by Muller shot at prime surfing destinations across Southern California. Starring Meador and with an original score from Los Angeles-based psyche-pop trio E.S.P, Frequencies aims to explore how man can find synergy with nature’s cycles.

“There are so many different frequencies all around us at all times: ocean waves, sound waves, light waves, infrared and many others outside our range, but all have an effect on us,” explains professional surfer and passionate photographer Meador. “There are many parallels we can connect between surfing and navigating life.” Having previously made the music video for Warpaint’s single “Elephant”, Florida-native Muller combined his love of surfing and the fantastical films of Ridley Scott, Andrei Tarkovsky and Akira Kurosawa in the upcoming feature. “We exist in a world that is vast and dynamic,” he says. “We’re using surfing as a medium to explore how we harness these energies and the effects they have on us.”

Endless Roads 4 – Costa da Morte

In this last chapter Longboard Girls Crew travel up north to Galicia’s Costa da Morte (coast of death), name given to the area in 1920 due to its treacherous rocky shores, full of cliffs and battered by brave storms. Land of massive green landscapes, filled with legends and tradition. After the night spent in Art Surf Camp in Razo, the girls later join A Coruña local skaters for a day cruising.

Billabong have just released this inspiring surf art video called “Tom Veiga by Billabong.”

It features artist Tom Veiga, renowned for his Serie Waves works, musing on the inspiration that the ocean holds.

It coincides with a new series of women’s beachwear that Tom has created for Billabong.

Liptrip Episode 4 – Roadtrip!

The last Lipstick trip ended up with a road trip instead of a park shoot. But the Lipstick girls made the best of it and put together this sweet new Liptrip episode. With Basa Stevulova, Urska Pribosic, Diana Sadlowski, Suray Fernandez, and Conny Bleicher from the Pyrenees, to the Atlantic and back, including a little detour to the Mediterranean. Enjoy and go on a roadtrip!

SURFING THE WILD EAST

In September 2011 the Blickinsfreie team together with professional surfers Ian Walsh, Gary Saavedra and Perth Standlick went on a three-week adventure through the Caucasus Eurasia with a mission to surf the Black Sea as well as Caspian Sea just north of Baku, Azerbaijan. Fusing the intentions to expose new surf territory with a fever for adventure and foreign land, their mission was to deliver a compelling story to an audience of core surf enthusiasts on a global level.

Have a look at surf spots in both the Black Sea and Caspian Sea and waves never before shown. Enjoy!
