The first batch of rebate payments started hitting bank accounts early this month through direct deposits. GRAND BLANC TWP., Michigan -- Turns out Joe Eanes may be getting an stimulus check after all. The retired groundskeeper, 61, thought he was shut out of receiving one of the payments heading to more than 130 million taxpayers because his only income comes from his city of Flint pension. And pension income doesn't count toward earned income for the stimulus, the Internal Revenue Service says....

      SWARTZ CREEK, Michigan -- The assets of Greg McKnight of Swartz Creek have been frozen as part of an investigation into an alleged Internet fraud scheme that claims more than $72 million was taken from more than 3,000 investors, according to the Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, with assistance from the the state insurance office, was recently able to obain an emergency court order to freeze McKnight's assets on behalf of investors, a news release said....

A spokesman said Monday that three-quarters of EDS employees in the Great Lakes Technology Centre will be transferred next month, leaving only about 50 company workers on site. "It's part of a consolidation (that is happening) in phases," said Dave Ellis, an EDS spokesman. "We leased a new building in Pontiac (and) in a routine review of our real estate needs in Michigan we have been consolidating to Pontiac." EDS spun off from General Motors in 1996 but remains a GM supplier. Some, but not all, employees at Great Lakes worked with GM, Ellis said....
