Following our awesome list of 101 tools for web designers and developers, it was time for actually figuring out every step needed to get a web design project done – from start to finish. So here it is – the ultimate checklist for the web designer / freelancer / agency starting a web design project. We’ve covered all the steps you need to do, from the technical and development focused, to that involving client meetings, designers, copy-writing, and everything else in between. What have we missed? We’d love to hear your opinion! Is web design only about design? Not really! Although most of us love the creative part of designing and developing a website, there are quite a few things we need to do before we actually get to that. Before we get down to the nitty gritty – we’ll need to lay the groundwork and set a few rules. Stage 0 – Project Start – Preparation 1. Setup first meetings(s) with client 2. Define and collect briefing document from client 3. Define and send project questionnaire to client and wait for the client’s response. Iterate on doubts you have until everybody is in agreement. Finalize project questionnaire from the client 4. Research client’s company to understand their brand, the way they communicate, their demographics, target audience 5. Research client’s industry to find ways of communicating specific to the industry, strengths and weaknesses, trends and other industry specifics 6. Get quotation(s) for development effort for project 7. Get quotations(s) for design or estimate design work with your own designers 8. Get quotation(s) for copy / content or estimate work with your copywriters 9. Get quotation(s) for photography / video production or estimate effort involved 10. Get quotation(s) for Hosting / Domain, particularly if specialized hosting is involved such as VPS hosting, cloud hosting, or special hosting or environment...

Think about the number of local visibility initiatives underpinned by establishing an accurate, consistent name, address, and phone number for every location that you operate: Rankings in Search Results Simply put, you can’t rank in search results if you aren’t present. If search engines like Google and Apple don’t know about your business, how are they going to show you on keywords for which you want to rank? Offline Conversions Why spend millions of dollars on Product Listing Ads or other forms of AdWords — or any kind of mobile advertising — if people don’t know about your physical locations, or end up visiting the wrong location when they’re trying to find your store? Reputation How do consumers know on which “location” they should leave you a review if there are multiple (duplicate) listings floating around for that location? And if, heaven forbid, they end up visiting an incorrect location or call a phone number that’s not actually for the right store, well, we know how that will turn out for your brand’s reputation. Although it feels like local data should be a simple box to check, it’s an inherently messy problem. Simply put, many brands don’t know they even have a problem — and even the lucky few who know about its importance try to paper over it, or wish it away, with advertising or other nonessential spending. Unfortunately I’ve seen this mindset pervade enterprises throughout my entire 10-year career in local search. And, as Local SEO best practices became more established and more widely circulated, I thought and hoped the local data problem would begin to resolve itself. But the paradox of the mobile wave that began in earnest in 2011-2012 is it distracted many enterprise marketers away from the fundamental elements of a good location-relevant digital marketing campaign. Mobile seems to...

Using Facebook videos to build brand awareness Video is a better medium for the phone because you can share so much more information in a short time compared to text. The mobile screen has never been good for reading, but it’s perfect for a quick glance at a video. If you’re ignoring video, you may be missing out on a huge portion of your audience. If you need any more proof of the emerging power of video, take a look at the growth of video based social media platforms like Snapchat. Snapchat is growing twice as quickly as other platforms like Twitter, and in a few short years, has become the second most used social media app in the United States. Facebook has been aware of this trend toward video and is taking steps to make sure it maintains its dominance in the social media arena. In the last year, Facebook has made a major push toward video by allowing video ads and making videos play automatically in the news feed. Videos have proven to have the greatest organic reach on Facebook. According to Social Bakers, videos have nearly twice the organic reach as other forms of content on Facebook, and Facebook is surpassing YouTube for the total number of videos uploaded. The main purpose of Facebook videos By now you can recognize the power of video and the potential reach, so let’s talk about how you can break into video with your brand. To understand how we can make the most impact with our videos on Facebook, we must first understand why people are logging onto Facebook. Compared to a platform like AdWords, buying intent is quite low on Facebook. Nobody logs onto Facebook hoping to see an ad for something they want to buy. People log on to connect with friends, get a sense of belonging, present themselves and their ideas. People want to share their interests, ideas and lifestyles...

Suffering from blank-page anxiety? Before you go on the hunt for inspiration all over the Internet and elsewhere, turn to the resources around you and realize that you can create exceptional content with what you already have at hand. Thinking of content topics doesn’t have to be such a long and grueling undertaking. Use the following starting points the next time you need an idea. Individual achievement Talk about a transition to a new role and how you had to adapt your skills to succeed. Think of lessons you learned the hard way and share with those who are just starting out. Describe your thought process for approaching different tasks in a way that will help others be better organized or prepared. Write about a mentor figure or a brand you admire. Explain why this person or company has excelled, and how others may be able to follow a similar path. Share your action plan for the future. Give people a sneak peak of what’s to come and talk through the steps you’ll take to accomplish your goals. Tools Create a video tutorial that walks people through how to use a tool for a specific task. Review a new or lesser-known tool that you believe more people should use. Present creative, alternate ways of using a tool, including plugins and combinations that make using multiple tools together advantageous. If there’s an in-house tool that you use, put together a case study of why it’s better than some of the commercial tools that other brands use. Perform the same task with a few different tools. Note which one is most cost effective, easiest to use, saved you the most time, etc. Lists Compile resources for different subjects and skill levels. Gather content that shows the best examples of what people should be...

Social media has gone from being the bold new frontier of advertising to being an assumed component of almost any marketing strategy. But just because social media marketing campaigns are commonplace doesn’t imply you can just tweet your promo code watching the conversions roll in. But the character of social advertising — interrupting or distracting from someone’s personal news feed — combined with fact that so many people are doing this means that if you would like to get those clicks, you’ll really need to earn them. Get into people’s faces and get them alert to your product. But how may you do it? Check out the entire webinar or please read on for the distilled wisdom. Experiment with real-time marketing If you’ve ever read an article about marketing on Twitter, you’ve probably seen the infamous “Dunk within the Dark” tweet from Oreo in the infamous Super Bowl power outage: Dunk-in-the-Dark. Riding the wave of a popular current event by providing a unique or entertaining perspective is an excellent method to make your social messaging more relateble — and thus, more shareable. Let’s look back at this Oreo tweet. Notice where did they didn’t tag it #superbowl? Worldwide-trending hashtags that way get multiple tweets per second, hence the hope to be seen there is pretty much non-existent. Not only would adding that hashtag haven’t increased Oreo’s social reach, nevertheless it would have dumbed the joke down, and seemed a lot more like pandering than the usual flash of inspiration. There are two key ideas and applications hashtags effectively: Joining in on existing topical hashtags — like each of our #CROChat — and causing the conversation inside a meaningful method is one of the best ways to increase your social reach, because you’re participating in a very targeted community that ideally already...

Search engine optimization better known as SEO is a technique by which you can in crease your website rank in the different search engines like Google or Bing. If you are determined to earn money through your website then you need quality traffics. SEO service will help you to get the targeted traffics. The cost of the SEO service varies from companies to companies and also according to the service provided. Cost of SEO service mainly varies from $1000 to $2000 and SEO site assessment service usually starts from.$15000. It is always advisable that you have your SEO service from local companies. For example if you have your company in Florida then you should look for Florida SEO companies. Similarly for Ft Lauderdale companies you should always look for local Florida SEO companies. This is because you will get SEO services at a cheap rate. Secondly you can directly interact with that company and interrogate your work progress by going to their office physically. This will not be possible if you outsource the work. Moreover will outsourcing the cost also jumps up very rapidly. The cost of the SEO service is the prime concern for the companies who are giving SEO service. If you don’t get the right targeted keywords then you will not get desired traffic as a result of which your search engine rank will fall. Thus you may have to pay a greater amount for small output. So choose the right keyword for your site to gain the maximum traffic. Also look into that keyword popularity. Now a days SEO companies have adopted a new approach called result driven approach. Here the company will pay only when they see any good result. A good SEO company will always give money back guarantee if they are unable to meet the target...
