Now, some people are surely wondering what I did in Golden. Well, the place is really very central in the Rockies and not 'far away' from Banff and Lake Louise. Scenically really beautifully situated, I can also recommend the drive over the Rogers Pass to Revelstoke.

The house was built in 2014 and has been operated as a Holiday Inn Express from the beginning. I initially reserved the only suite with a balcony, but later changed it to a King Suite with a sofa. Unfortunately, all of these are facing the wrong side, meaning they do not have a mountain view. But okay, I have traveled enough in those mountains. The staff was really very friendly and the room clean. The only somewhat disturbing aspect was that you can hear the sounds from the corridor. On the second and last evening, a Chinese tour group even arrived by bus. The breakfast was a bit blander than in Calgary, but still okay.

Ah ok, the gym was.....

I was looking at the upgrade thread, and everyone who got an upgrade seemed surprised and delighted.

BA must, surely, have a policy on who gets upgraded, when, and why.

This policy would have been disseminated to people who have the authority to apply it.

So, why hasn't it been leaked?

I tried the search function. It's broken - so tried Googling using site: and still nothing.

I don't fly much, have no status, and my own lack of upgrades have caused me no surprise.

The only times I ever got upgraded was with IHG as a status benefit, or in one particular hotel, where the manager contacted me after a very neutral TripAdvisor review, and asked me to contact him if I did book again. I did, booking a basic room, and he upgraded me on every occasion subsequently, to a suite. It probably helped that we got on very well.

I don't know any BA managers, though,

At check in, he was given an ORD baggage tag and a paper boarding pass SAN-ORD but not the ORD-FCO boarding pass (which appeared on his app OK). At FCO, when the bag never arrived, they discovered the mistake and will deliver the luggage to the final destination. This was an award ticket booked with Alaska miles in a single ticket SAN-ORD-FCO. The ORD layover was three hours.

Any idea how the check in agent could have made such a mistake?

Anyone with experience transiting SGN airport who left the terminal?

I have a 7 hr layover scheduled next month and I'm itching to leave the airport. After a lot of back and forth, I'm not eligible for VNs transit tour program because my first leg is VN marketed but CX operated 😢

AI is encouraging me to lounge hop and not leave (booo!) because of the length of the immigration lines and risk of missing a connection. But you never know, it could be my only time in Vietnam (and lounge time passes so slowly) so would be cool for even two hours in HCMC taking photos and eating food.

I've read a lot on FT and Reddit about booking priority immigration, potential scams with transport, etc., and Im waffling. I Would be SkyPriority with VN (from DL) and will pay for expected immigration services whether it's worth it or not given the price.

Any experiences or thoughts from others?

Hey everyone

Looking for some advice.

With the current 10% decrease in qpoints requirements, I'm now only 120 qpoints short of hitting platinum. At 180 I didn't consider trying to qualify, but 120 is manageable, and with all the travel in eco I have planned already for 2027, together with the extra avios and qcredits, I think it would make sense to spend the money and time to upgrade my status.

Currently thinking of the following scenario in which I fly a BRU - BKK return, in which I would nest a BKK-BRU return.
I would basically arrive in BKK in the morning of day 2, start the "nested" trip to BRU on one of the evening flights, arrive in BRU on day 3 in the morning, and immediately take the same plane back to BKK (via DOH), arrive there on day 4 in the morning (completing the nested itinerary), then again take one of the evening flights, completing the "original" itinerary.

So it would be like this, with the green and black depicting the 2 different trips and black nested in the "original" trip.

BRU-DOH-BKK BKK-DOH-BRU-DOH-BKK BKK-DOH-BRU

I know this idea is probably bonkers. But it seems to be the most cost-effective plan I could come up with. And to be honest, it would be fun to do an oldschool points run.
Now, apart from the risk of misconnection - is this even "legal" - would QR allow me to have two different PNRs with a trip nested like this?

Any advice would be appreciated.

This itinerary I can book for roughly 1000 - The 60+ qcredits + extra avios + FCL access are definitely worth it to me. And the soft landing into gold is a great benefit too.
Im also open to other ideas, that would yield me 120 qpoints at that price point.

Many thanks!
