I've just discovered the Okayplayer online store and love the global inspired product featured there. With it's patterned clutches, eclectic graphic tees and handmade necklaces this is a shop that is totally on my radar.
The beautiful Laura Mvula sings about the joys of being and loving yourself in this funky tune called "That's Alright."
My friend and design colleague Sarah Walsh is also an awesome illustrator. When we worked together at the same company we used to sit and have long doodling sessions and I remember falling in love with her quirky-funky girlie style.

I love love love this song and video "Q.U.E.E.N." by Janelle Monáe featuring the awesome Erykah Badu. The message is dope and the styling throughout the video is fabulous.

Early spring brings chilly starts that warm to sunny afternoons then finishing into cool nights. Keeping a scarf with me helps with the subtle shifts in temperatures. In addition to adding a bit of warmth scarves also function as wonderful accessories adding punch or texture to an outfit.
I always prefer ones with bold colors or prints like these from Bazara'Pagne (above).

Having images around me that reflect my interests, memories, and ideas is very important to my creative process and well-being. With the semester coming to a close and my schedule slowly opening up a bit, I'm dedicating little pockets of time to getting my space in order, and that includes finally getting artwork up on the walls — especially in my studio/office space.
Over the weekend I framed some of the many things I've been excited about hanging. Like a Grace Jones album cover, some labels I found at a fleamarket in Spain, a vintage map of Africa, and a collage illustration by Peggy Wolf I found in Tokion's Factory Magazine. (I love her work and love that collage and had been wanting to frame it for a while.)
From investment pieces to found objects I appreciate hanging anything that I think is beautiful and speaks to my tastes. I also like that I can move things or switch them around as necessary.
There is still so much to hang, mainly more prints. In the future I would like to use more family photos and original prints or paintings. I'm totally excited about building my collection.
