Hey fans, VizX here coming at you with another edition of the automotive corner. I found a posting on jalopnik of something soooo nice that you would think dodge would make. I think it would sell to be honest, but hey what do I know right?

“You remember that recent Dodge statement basically confirming there would not be a Dodge Challenger Convertible? Who cares if Dodge won’t bring it, because it’s just opening the doors for aftermarket converters like Coach Builders Ltd., bringing their interpretation of a drop-top Mopar pony to the SEMA show in Vegas next month. For the show, Coach Builders’ Challenger gets 560 HP from a supercharger and other underhood mods, along with the requisite obnoxious wheels and what appears to be a Challenger T/A-inspired strobe stripe, though it comes off looking more like safety tape.”

“Priced at about $16,000 on top of the cost of a Challenger, the conversion nets you hidden chassis bracing and a power hydraulic top with extra sound insulation, an integrated headliner and heated rear window. Body kit and engine package pricing hasn’t been determined yet, as the company is still finalizing details. But with production slated to start November 15, if you want one, you’d better get Coach Builders Ltd. your deposit quick — apparently they’re already putting buyers in the que. Sure, the price is steep, but where else are you going to get a Challenger convertible?”

Now, in my opinion I would get that, discard the rims for something alittle more tasteful and remove the MS Paint looking vinyl on the side of it and THEN, that would be a nice looking ride, but as is all you need are the “ghetto” stick on fender louvers to make what this recreation of a classic is into another gaudy ghetto-tastic ride!

Yes another electric car lol. This one comes in the form of an RUF. I found this on autoblogs website and I thought I would share.
“Rumors of RUF’s impending electric Porsche were true, except that the actual vehicle is based on a Porsche 911, not the Cayman as previously reported. Powered by a three-phase electric motor that offers about 200 horsepower along with an impressive 480 lb.-ft. of torque, the eRUF Model A can reportedly hit 60 miles per hour in under seven seconds and can reach a top speed of 160. Power comes from a lithium iron phosphate battery pack, which produces 317-volts and 480-amps and is made up from 96 individual cells. A full charge takes a rather long 10-hours, and regenerative braking is included in the package allowing for a range of up to 180 miles. From the outside, you’d never really know that something was different about this 997, except that it doesn’t produce that soul-stirring flat-six sound. This is still just a concept and its specifications are subject to change. We can be sure, though, that this isn’t the last electrically-powered sportscar set to hit the market.”

The Automotive Corner! Porsche accuses Nissan GT-R of cheating the ‘Ring!!

“Sour grapes or legitimate complaint? That’s the question we’re left pondering after reading that Porsche believes Nissan must have cheated to record its 7:29:03 lap time of the famed Nürburgring race circuit. Porsche claims that it had been suspicious of the Nissan’s lap times, so it acquired a U.S.-spec GT-R for testing back-to-back with its own 911 Turbo and GT2. The result? The mighty Godzilla was toppled by the Teutonic German duo, with the GT-R posting times a good 25-seconds slower than Nissan’s claim.

How can Porsche explain the discrepancy? “This wonder car with 7:29 could not have been a regular series production car. For us, it’s not clear how this time is possible. What we can imagine with this Nissan is they used other tires,” says August Achleitner, the man in charge of the 911 program. There is footage of the GT-R lapping the ‘Ring at high speed, but it’s taken from inside the car where the tires cannot be seen.

Considering the fact that Nissan saw fit to issue a press release commemorating the car’s fast-lap, we doubt this is something that will be taken lightly. There’s a big can ‘o worms here, and Porsche’s in the corner holding the opener.”

Welcome everybody, today im not going to get to deep into cars, but im quoting an article I found on about a man who loved cars, and partook in professional racing during the 1970’s, and obtained 2nd place at LeMans in 1979. This man?

The Movie Legend Paul Newman(shown with his wife of 50 years below)

“Oscar-winning film legend Paul Newman has died of cancer at the age of 83.

The blue-eyed star of movies like Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid died in his Connecticut home on Friday, surrounded by family and close friends.

A statement from Newman’s family said: “His death was as private and discreet as the way he had lived his life.”

His Butch Cassidy co-star Robert Redford paid tribute, saying: “There is a point where feelings go beyond words… I have lost a real friend.”

The star’s five daughters praised their father’s “selfless humility and generosity” in a statement released to the press.

“Paul Newman played many unforgettable roles,” they said.

“But the ones for which he was proudest never had top billing on the marquee: Devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather, dedicated philanthropist.”

In Los Angeles, flowers were to be placed on Newman’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as the Motion Picture Association of America hailed his “extraordinary career.”

Retired

The iconic actor starred in some 60 films in a career that spanned five decades.

He was nominated for an Academy Award 10 times – but it took him 33 years to win one, picking up the best actor trophy for The Color Of Money in 1987.

In May 2007, Newman said he was giving up acting because he could no longer perform to the best of his ability.

“I’m not able to work any more… at the level that I would want to,” he told US broadcaster ABC.

“You start to lose your memory, you start to lose your confidence, you start to lose your invention.

“So I think that’s pretty much a closed book for me.”

Earlier this year, he pulled out of directing a stage production of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men in Connecticut because of unspecified health problems.

‘Extraordinary man’

Eulogies for the star have poured in from friends and colleagues around the world.

Sam Mendes, who directed Newman in 2002’s Road To Perdition, said the actor was “an extraordinary man in every respect”.

The thing I remember the most about him is his total lack of ego and his lack of entourage and his lack of hangers-on.”

Film star George Clooney said: “He set the bar too high for the rest of us. Not just actors, but all of us.”

Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey added: “Paul Newman was a great, humble giant.

The star won a total of three Oscars

“”He used his success to help others and did it without wanting a lot of credit.

“He should be an example to everyone in the acting profession because he seemed to have had his ego surgically removed.”

Hit films

Although his handsome looks and piercing blue eyes made him an ideal romantic lead, Newman often played rebels, tough guys and losers.

“I was always a character actor,” he once said. “I just looked like Little Red Riding Hood.”

His movies included Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, The Hustler, The Sting and Hud.

Along the way, he worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood – including Alfred Hitchcock, Robert Altman, Martin Scorsese, Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall and Tom Hanks.

He also appeared with his wife, Joanne Woodward, in several films including Long Hot Summer and Paris Blues. The star later directed his wife in movies such as Rachel, Rachel and The Glass Menagerie.

But his most famous screen partner was undoubtedly Robert Redford, his sidekick in both Butch Cassidy and The Sting.

In addition to his Academy Award for best actor, he was given an honorary Oscar in 1986 “in recognition of his many and memorable compelling screen performances and for his personal integrity and dedication to his craft”.

In 1994, he picked up a third Oscar, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian award, for his charitable work.

His philanthropic efforts included the establishment of summer camps for children who suffered from life-threatening illnesses.

He also donated profits from his Newman’s Own food range to a number of charitable organisations.

Newman’s last film role was as the voice of Doc Hudson, one of the most famous racing cars in history, in the Pixar animation Cars.

It was perhaps a fitting epitaph for the actor, who had a lifelong fascination with the sport – and put his film career on hold in the 1970s to become a professional racing driver.

He is survived by his wife, five children, two grandsons and his older brother Arthur.”

Ok, well while surfing around at products for today I came across something I dont think a whole lot of people know about yet, its from a very reputable name, you may know it?

Holley is a great company whom has been providing racers with great products since 1903, one of their well known lines

is probably the most used N2O kit out there in the world of racing. Nitrous Oxide is pretty much horsepower in a bottle if you have been in the dark or in the dark under a rock. Each Nitrous kit wether is be from holley, or from ZEX or Nitrous Express(NX), Venom etc etc, they come with these little valves that are changeable. These are called the nitrous “pill”, by changing the pill it delivers different amounts of horsepower to your vehicle. This burst of energy is called a “shot” of nitrous, cars with minimal modification should use nothing higher then a 30 shot, then there are track cars that use 200-250 shot which is insane, but hey they can handle the power. One thing that n2o users have always been trying to figure out is how to configure how the spray effects the vehicle as far as reaction, I mean to much and you will spin your tires into the trash, not enough and you will lose precious time in the 1/4 mile. Holley has done it again by revolutionizing how we manage our spray, no more switches and valves to try to get this all squared away.

Ok so before I go to bed this morning(I work 3rd shift) I was browsing around some blogs when I stumbled upon something amazing thats going to debut at SEMA this year!

What do you get when you combine a 2008 F-350 Super Duty with a shelby GT500KR?

You Get Performance West Group’s F-350 “Striker”!

This is a concept drawing of it for now…

This is badass on every level right here!! As you can see its the standard F350(that comes with a 6.4L Powerstroke Diesel) thrown in a blender with the body and paint schemes of the shelby.

The Striker is still being built. PWG says it will be painted “Striker Silver” with “Badass Blue” racing stripes running the length of the truck, from the leading edge of the front air dam to the bottom of the rear bumper cover. Hulst Customs is fabricating and installing the Striker’s custom bodywork as well.

See the rims in that drawing? Those are portrayed as 24-inch lightweight American Force forged dually wheels, mounted with low-profile Pirelli tires designed for a different kind of hauling than what Ford Super Duty’s are used to. Hauling ASS!!

Diesel guru Gale Banks is working hard to come up with ways to tweak the 350-horsepower and 650 pounds-feet of torque PowerStroke engine for optimal street performance and power.

Inside, Katzkin Leather will match the silver and blue exterior colors with custom leather surfaces and seats, equipped with four-point racing harnesses. Katzkin is the leading custom leather seat cover company for most applications, I would recommend them to anyone! The interior will also include matching floor coverings, aluminum racing pedals and auxiliary gauges and Sony is supplying the Striker’s A/V Entertainment system.

The Striker will debut this November in Las Vegas at the annual SEMA show, the largest gathering of aftermarket parts and accessories companies in the world and I cannot wait to see actual photo’s of this beast!!!!

Hello Everyone, Welcome to the Mod Shop! Spotlight: AEM Power

Welcome Everybody to another edition of VizX’s The Mod Shop, I Am VizX coming at you today with something thats a very very important part of your cold air intake. This product is called an air bypass valve. The Air Bypass Valve virtually eliminates the chance of hydro-lock should the filter of your AEM Cold Air intake somehow gets submerged in water. On most systems, the valve installs along the upper portion of the inlet pipe and shuts down induction at the filter when it becomes submerged, rerouting the air to keep water out and air flowing in.
