La Ceiba Foods Latin Market Inc. is recalling its Requesón Salvadoreño (Salvadoran Cottage Cheese) and Requesón Mexicano (Mexican Cottage Cheese) products marketed under the La Colonia and Selectos Latinosbrands, because of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. 

The affected products were distributed to supermarkets, retail stores and restaurants in the states of Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

La Ceiba Foods recalls the below identified affected products from the market. This recall includes all lots/batches within expiry.

This recall was initiated after La Ceiba Foods was notified of a recall action by its supplier, Clover Hill Dairy, following the identification of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes in products manufactured at the facility. Additionally, the FDA and CDC, in collaboration with state and local partners, are investigating a multi-state, multi-year outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections linked to requeson, a soft cheese like ricotta, manufactured by Clover Hill Dairy LLC of Mechanicsville, MD. Twelve illnesses and one death have been reported to date.

Lehi Valley Trading Company of Mesa, AZ, is recalling 624 units of its 15-ounce packages of High Valley Orchard chocolate covered raisins because they contain undeclared peanuts. 

People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled product was distributed in retail stores through Albertson’s distribution center between May 18 and June 25.

The product comes in a 15-ounce, clear plastic package marked with lot # 0160933, best by date of Jan. 23, 2027, on the bottom right-hand side of the front label.

No illnesses or deaths have been reported to date in connection with this problem to date.

The recall was initiated after the presence of peanuts was discovered in the chocolate covered raisins. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's production and packaging processes.

Health officials in the United Kingdom have opened an investigation after Listeria was found in chicken supplied to hospitals.

Chicken products imported by Foodbridge EU and Foodbridge UK from Brazil have tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. According to Horsham District Council, C Vale - Cooperativa Agroindustrial handled the chicken in Brazil.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) was notified of the problem by the National Health Service (NHS) and the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The level of Listeria detected is within the legal limit of 100 colony forming units per gram (CFU/g). However, the products are supplied to NHS food chains and other health and social care settings.

Supplied to hospitals
Products are supplied frozen but are labeled as ready-to-eat (RTE) once defrosted, increasing the potential public health concern, particularly for vulnerable groups.

A withdrawal has been initiated by Yearsley Food covering eight frozen chicken products. Express Foodservice, a wholesaler based in West Sussex initially detected the Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

These are certain codes and sizes of diced and strips of cooked chicken breast, strips and diced steam cooked chicken breast, and shredded chicken. Products include the tikka, hot and spicy, and barbeque varieties of flavoured chicken pieces.

On June 9, the NHS was told a supplier requested local destruction or return of frozen cooked chicken products following the detection of low levels of Listeria monocytogenes.

The product appears to be mainly supplied to catering services, including those in the NHS, where it may be further processed.

There are currently no confirmed cases of listeriosis related to the incident. However, UKHSA is waiting for Listeria monocytogenes isolates from contaminated chicken to be sequenced by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) to determine whether there is a match against reported cases.

One NHS trust has identified a group of vulnerable patients who may have been exposed, and testing of cooked chicken products is being arranged.

Companies who received affected products have been told they can continue to be used but chicken pieces must be thoroughly cooked before being served. This must be to an internal temperature of more than 70 degrees C (158 degrees F) for at least two minutes to destroy any Listeria present.

Business also need to consider if there could have been any cross-contamination of equipment, facilities, or other products during handling of the chicken in their premises and take appropriate actions to control any hazards identified.

Dr Gauri Godbole, Deputy Director, Gastrointestinal Infections, Food Safety and One Health at UKHSA, said: "We are aware that a manufacturer has withdrawn frozen cooked chicken products after Listeria monocytogenes was detected. The level of Listeria is within the legal limit for commercial sale and there have been no reported Listeria cases in people linked to this product to date.

“The products have been supplied to some settings where low levels of Listeria pose a risk to vulnerable groups. Therefore as a precautionary measure, UKHSA is working with FSA and NHS to inform these settings not to use the product and sharing further advice.”

The ready-to-eat chicken Caesar wrap items were produced on June 16 and have a sell by date of June 24. Consumers can determine whether they have the wraps by looking for the following label information: 

• 8.7-oz. clear plastic wrapped packages of “FRESH SEASONS Kitchen Chicken Caesar Wrap” with “Sell By:6/24/2026” printed on the back label above the ingredients. 

The products have establishment number “P- 45091” printed inside the USDA mark of inspection. These products were shipped to Holiday convenience stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The problem was discovered during routine FSIS product testing when a sample confirmed positive for the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. 

There have been no confirmed reports of illness due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a health care provider.

The raw honey Dijon boneless chicken breast products were produced on June 2 and have a best by date of June 28. Consumers can use the following label information to determine whether they have the recalled product: 

• 21-ounce vacuum-packed packages of “PRIVATE SELECTION Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts with Rib Meat” with “BEST IF USED BY: JUN 28 2026” and lot code “15326A” printed on the packaging. 

The products have the establishment number “P-45288B” printed on the packaging. These items were shipped to Kroger and Fred Meyer retail stores in Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oregon and Washington.

The problem was discovered by a retailer after a store employee identified that the correct label was applied to the front of the product but the incorrect label, which contained the ingredients statement, was applied to the back of the product. The retailer reported the issue to the producing establishment, and the establishment notified FSIS.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a health care provider. 

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Reser’s Fine Foods Inc. of Halifax, NC, is recalling 5,300 pounds of a ready-to-eat (RTE) product labeled as a pasta salad because of misbranding and undeclared allergens, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The product labeled as pasta salad may actually contain chicken salad, which contains egg and milk, known allergens, that are not declared on the product label.

The RTE product was produced on June 11 and has a use by date of July 16. Consumers can identify the recalled product by looking for the following label information: 

• 5-pound plastic tub packages of “Molly’s Kitchen California Style Pasta Salad” with “USE BY JUL/16/26 430” printed on the side of the plastic tub.

The product subject to recall has the establishment number “P-00874” printed on the side of the plastic tub. This item was shipped to distributors in Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia for further distribution to foodservice locations. 

The problem was discovered when the company notified FSIS that they mislabeled RTE chicken salad products as RTE pasta salad products.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider. 

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Morningstar Farms is recalling two varieties of products in the United States, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica because of possible plastic pieces in the food. 

The implicated products are Morningstar Farms Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets and Morningstar Farms Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties.

The company’s recall notice did not include information on how the problem occurred or how it was discovered. The company did not provide any photos of the recalled products.

There is concern that consumers may have unused portions of the recalled products in their homes because of their long shelf life, which reaches into 2027.

The recalled products can be identified by the following information:

Fry Pie Factory has issued a recall of its 5-ounce pepperoni rolls because of misbranding involving undeclared milk, a known allergen, and a process deviation related to refrigeration.

The company said the Pepperoni Rolls were not stored, distributed or sold at appropriate temperatures, which may allow pathogenic growth and pose a risk of food-borne illness.

The recalled products were distributed by Fry Pie Factory throughout Ohio and parts of West Virginia in convenience stores, grocery stores and gas stations. The company's recall notice did not include any labeling codes.

No illnesses have been reported. However, consumers with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk may risk a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product. Anyone experiencing signs of an allergic reaction or food-borne illness should contact a health care provider immediately.

Consumers should discard the Pepperoni Rolls or return them to Fry Pie Factory for a full refund.

Power Plate Meals LLC a West Fargo, ND, Cooperative Interstate Shipping establishment, is recalling 5,795 pounds of frozen meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. 

The product contains soy, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. People with a sensitivity or allergy to soy run the risk of severe reaction including death if they consume the product.

The frozen meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes items were produced June 25, 2025, to June 10, 2026. 

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers' freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

The following product is subject to recall:

• 13.3-ounce vacuum sealed plastic tray packages containing "POWER PLATE MEALS MEATLOAF WITH GARLIC MASHED POTATOES" and "USE BY" dates between 6/25/26 and 6/10/27.

The products subject to recall have the establishment number "217SEND" inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distributors in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

The problem was discovered when a state inspector notified FSIS that the final label did not contain soy in the ingredients list.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

Western Mixers Produce & Nuts Inc. of Ontario, CA, is recalling First Street brand dark chocolate raisins in 9-ounce packages because they may contain peanuts.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The packages may contain undeclared dark chocolate peanuts. 

The product was distributed to Cedraui USA and was sold at Smart & Final Stores in California.

The recalled product can be identified by the following information: First Street brand Dark Chocolate Raisins, 9 oz., with UPC 7-97565-01183-0 packed in a clear plastic container with Lot#260562, which can be found on the side of the container.

No illnesses have been reported to date, according to the company.

A dozen illnesses have been reported in France linked to a brand of infant formula.

Eleven reports were received via the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES) nutrivigilance system, and one via another system, for adverse digestive effects in infants such as diarrhea and vomiting. All concern the same batch of Allernova AR formula from Laboratoires Novalac.

A voluntary withdrawal and recall of batch 183403 has been undertaken by the company. The powdered formula comes in a 400-gram tub and has a date of July 17, 2028. It was sold at pharmacies in France from April to June 12.

One infant was hospitalized after a stool sample test revealed the presence of adenovirus, a pathogen responsible for gastroenteritis that is not typically transmitted through breast milk.

The manufacturer has also received complaints about the same batch relating to issues such as an unusual color and odor.

No link to cereulide incident

United Pharmaceuticals, the owner of Laboratoires Novalac, conducted enhanced testing on the affected batch manufactured in Germany and shared results with authorities in Paris, where the company's French headquarters are located.

The organoleptic changes are believed to be because of excessive heating of part of the batch. Analyses carried out by the manufacturer showed no pathogens.

Cereulide toxin, which was behind a recent alert concerning infant formula sold by various companies worldwide, was also not detected.

French officials said the non-conformities make the product unfit for consumption, as its color and odor are unacceptable to consumers, although no conclusions can yet be drawn regarding potential health risks.

The Directorate General for Food (DGAL) is in contact with German authorities to ensure measures deemed necessary for consumer safety are taken. DGAL is handling the case with the Directorate General for Health (DGS), Santé publique France, and experts at ANSES.

Anyone who has any boxes from the affected batch should stop their use and return them to the pharmacy in exchange for a box from another batch.

The FDA and CDC, in collaboration with state and local partners, are investigating a multi-state, multi-year outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections linked to requeson, a soft cheese similar to ricotta, manufactured by Clover Hill Dairy LLC of Mechanicsville, MD.  

So far, the investigation has identified nine patients. Eight of them have been hospitalized and one has died. 

As a result of the investigation, Clover Hill has expanded its recall to include all cheese products manufactured by the firm. The recall now includes the following:

• Soft and Semi-Soft “Spanish Style Cheese Varieties”: Cuajada, Soft Cuajada, Soft Cuajada in Brine, Soft Cuajada Crumbs, Ricotta/Requeson, and Soft Ricotta w/ Jalapenos (Requeson Con Chile)
• Mild Cheese Varieties: Yummy Cheddar, White Cheddar, White Colby, Monterey Jack, Marble Jack, Fresh Cheddar Curd, Snack Pack - Assorted (White Colby, Marble Jack, and Yummy Cheddar), and 3-in-A-Pack - Assorted (White Colby, Marble Jack, and Yummy Cheddar)
• Hard Cheese Varieties: Yummy Cheddar, White Cheddar, White Colby, and Snack Pack Sharp Stix
• Smoked Cheddar Cheese Varieties: Cheddar and White Cheddar
• Flavored Cheeses: Horseradish and Old Bay Cheddar

A distributor of Clover Hill Dairy requeson cheese has also initiated a recall. On June 5, Nelson & Isa Lacteos LLC of Bay Shore, NY, initiated a recall of 1-pound packages of requeson cheese sold in clear plastic clam-shell containers to retail locations in New York from May 15 to May 28. The recalled cheese was likely repacked at the retail store locations, and labeling or coding of recalled cheese may vary based on location of purchase. A list of New York retail stores and locations that FDA has reason to believe received requeson cheese that was included in the recall by Nelson & Isa Lacteos LLC can be found in the recall announcement.

Clover Hill cheese was distributed from May 4 through May 30 in the following states: North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington D.C. through bulk distributors, retail stores and directly to consumers.

Nelson & Isa Lacteos requeson products were sold at retail locations in New York from May 15 to May 28.

On June 14, the Maryland Department of Health announced an expanded consumer advisory for all cheese products made by Clover Hill Dairy due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.  

As part of this investigation, FDA and state partners collected and analyzed samples. To date, six product samples of requeson cheese have tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes and matched the outbreak strain. Additionally, one environmental sample, collected by Maryland investigators, tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes and matched the outbreak strain.

This expansion follows an ongoing supply chain investigation that identified additional lot numbers linked to the same raw material lot that prompted the original recall.

The recalled product was distributed nationally through the online platforms, Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, Target, and the company's websites, tnvitamins.com and doctorspride.com.

The product is packaged in white HDPE supplement bottles with smooth, white caps and 120 clear capsules filled with green moringa powder.

According to the company, some of the affected lots are:

The recall was initiated following notification from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that these products may be implicated in an ongoing investigation associated with moringa-containing dietary supplement products. Total Nutrition Inc. has ceased distribution and sale of the identified product and has initiated removal orders across all applicable sales and fulfillment channels while the FDA, CDC and the company continue their investigation.

This expansion was discovered during a supply chain traceability review which identified a common raw material from Lot 2507199 or 2512-304, one of the original recalled lots.

Total Nutrition Inc. is including Lots 2503104, and 2725 of TNVitamins Ultra Potent Complete Green Superfood Moringa 10,000 mg and Doctor’s Pride Complete Green Superfood Ultra Potent Moringa 10,000 mg in the recall effective immediately.

No other TNVitamins or Doctor’s Pride products are involved.

Customers who have purchased the affected products are asked to dispose of them immediately.

About Salmonella infections

Older adults, children, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems, such as cancer patients, are more likely to develop a severe illness and serious, sometimes life-threatening conditions.

Some people get infected without getting sick or showing any symptoms. However, they may still spread the infections to others.

Azuma Foods International Inc. U.S.A. of Hayward, CA ,is recalling its 3-pack, 5.3 ounce Azuma Foods Brand Tako Wasabi-Seasoned Octopus with Wasabi retail packages, because they may contain undeclared fish. 

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to fish run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled product was distributed in California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Washington via retail stores.

The Azuma Foods brand Tako Wasabi-Seasoned Octopus with Wasabi is sold in a 3-pack, Net Weight 5.3 ounce (150 grams) covered by a mylar sleeve with UPC 745329 90064 7. The individual packages are 50 grams. Distribution was from mid-August 2025 through May 2026.

The lot numbers can be found on the bottom of the mylar sleeve and the following are effected lots:

The recall was initiated when it was uncovered that a mollusk extract had been replaced with a bonito extract, necessitating the fish allergen warning. The manufacturer failed to notify Azuma Foods of the recipe change.

Consumers who are allergic to fish should not consume the product.

Clover Hill Dairy of Mechanicsville, MD, has expanded its recall of its soft ricotta/requeson cheese to include all of the cheese because it has been linked to an outbreak of Listeria infections.

The implicated cheese was distributed from May 4 through May 30 in North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington D.C. through bulk distributors, retail stores and directly to consumers.

Clover Hills requeson cheese was sold in retail size packaging as 10-, 12- and 14-ounce individually packaged clamshell containers. 

For clamshell containers with the Clover Hill Dairy Cheese brand name, consumers should look for Clover Hill Dairy’s plant number 24-128 on the product label to assist with identifying recalled product. Some of the cheese has been repackaged and does not have any identifying labels.

The recalled cheese was also sold in bulk 5-gallon and 2-gallon buckets to some customers who repackaged the cheese. The bulk cheese may be repackaged under individual bulk distributor brand names including but not limited to: KESSO, QUESOS LA RICURA, IZALCO, DE MI PUEBLO, RIO LINDO.

The Clover Hill soft ricotta/requeson cheese has been linked to nine patients, one of whom died.

Clover Hill Dairy has ceased production and distribution of all cheese products.

Anyone who has eaten any of the recalled cheese and developed symptoms of Listeria infection should seek medical treatment and tell their doctors about the possible Listeria exposure.

Also, anyone who has eaten any of the recalled products should monitor themselves for symptoms during the coming weeks because it can take up to 70 days after exposure to Listeria for symptoms of listeriosis to develop. 

Symptoms of Listeria infection can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Specific laboratory tests are required to diagnose Listeria infections, which can mimic other illnesses. 

Pregnant women, the elderly, young children, and people such as cancer patients who have weakened immune systems are particularly at risk of serious illnesses, life-threatening infections, other complications and death. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, their infections can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.
