Last week, a wave of selling swept through the artificial intelligence (AI) chip sector, erasing about $1.3 trillion of market value from chip stocks in Friday's session alone. Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) fell about 6% that day, and Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) dropped almost 11%. Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO), whose earnings report earlier in the week helped set off the slide, has lost about a fifth of its value in a week.

And now these stocks are having another bad week so far, building on last week's losses.

Sharp declines like these can be unnerving. But they can sometimes create opportunities for long-term investors -- especially when the underlying businesses are still posting accelerating growth. And that seems to be the case here.

Is It Really Safe to Invest in the S&P 500 at Record Highs? Year to date, the index is up 9%.

After double-digit gains in 2023, 2024, and 2025, investors who've missed out on any part of this rally might feel like it's too dangerous to put money in stocks at record highs. In times like these, you often hear the refrain: "It's too late."

The truth is that if you're a long-term investor, it's almost never too late. Revenue rose 21% year over year to $19.2 billion, and the company's backlog of contracted future revenue swelled to a record $638 billion. Management also stood by its forecast for revenue to reach $90 billion in fiscal 2027 -- growth of about 34%. Yet shares of the cloud and database giant slipped about 7% in after-hours trading as of this writing.

So why would investors sell on numbers like these?

Part of the market's concern seems to center on what all of this growth costs. Oracle said it plans to raise about $40 billion in fiscal 2027 to help fund its artificial intelligence (AI) data center build-out -- on top of the $48 billion of debt and equity it raised in fiscal 2026.

HEICO vs. Textron: Which Industrials Stock Is a Better Buy in 2026?

HEICO's high-margin niche contrasts with Textron's diversified industrial reach, as each reveals distinct growth and risk profiles for long-term investors.

Are you hunting for high-growth aerospace parts or a diversified industrial titan? Textron operates a broader portfolio, including Bell helicopters and Cessna jets. While both benefit from aerospace demand, they offer vastly different financial profiles and growth trajectories for your portfolio.

HEICO provides specialized aircraft parts and electronic technologies for commercial aviation and defense markets. Compared with heavy hitters in artificial intelligence (AI) such as Anthropic and OpenAI, the AI-powered voice chatbot company has a small niche and a tiny cash balance. And yet it somehow still has a $3 billion market cap, although that's fallen more than 60% from its 2025 high.

Over the last few quarters, though, I've started to rethink my bearish position on SoundHound. The warm months have a habit of handing the second largest cryptocurrency a slow, grinding decline that saps holders' patience.

This year, the slow season opens with Ethereum already in bad shape. However, these beaten-down stocks could be the most underrated AI plays in the second half of this year and beyond.

Agentic AI is just starting to take off, and there is a large opportunity for software companies to begin playing a major role in this trend. Let's look at two of the best-positioned SaaS stocks for this right now.

While Nvidia is the backbone of AI infrastructure, ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW) serves as the central nervous system of organizations' IT infrastructure. Massive AI companies are planning their public debuts, and that starts with SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX).

SpaceX will offer about 556 million shares at $135 each, raising approximately $75 billion. An abnormally large chunk of those shares, about 30%, could be held for retail investors. And many online brokers have significantly reduced the barriers to receiving shares at the initial public offering (IPO) price. Although the semiconductor diagnostics company's shares still landed in the red that trading session, with a 0.2% decline, they performed better than the benchmark S&P 500 index, which fell by 1.6%.

That raiser was Cantor Fitzgerald's C.J. Huang said, "The whole industry supply chain -- everything from wafers to packaging to silicon photonics...everything's in short supply because the demand is so high. It is going to persist for several years."

I think this statement is a sobering assessment of a new reality. Artificial intelligence (AI) has turned memory into one of the most critical -- and constrained -- resources in hyperscale chip stacks. What was once a cyclical commodity has become a secular growth engine virtually overnight. This shift is important because, as Huang notes, it is not a temporary spike. Rather, insatiable demand for memory is becoming a multiyear reordering of supply and demand that will determine how fast AI scales.

While most investors obsess over Micron and Sandisk, I think one of the best ways for investors to participate in the entire AI memory supercycle is through the Roundhill Memory ETF (NYSEMKT: DRAM), a specific fund built precisely for this moment.

Iren's Ability to Rapidly Scale Its Data Center Footprint Makes It a Long-Term Winner

Iren has doubled its gigawatt portfolio since the start of the year.

Data center operator Iren (NASDAQ: IREN) is positioning itself to be a leader of the artificial intelligence (AI) boom. The company hopes to raise $75 billion or more with a target valuation of $1.77 trillion. That would value the company well above Elon Musk's other company, Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), which has significantly higher revenue and is already profitable.

Experts are split on whether such a gargantuan valuation is justified. A recent report from Morningstar, for example, calls the IPO stock "significantly overvalued." The firm estimates that SpaceX's true value is currently around $780 billion -- less than half the company's intended valuation.

Still, Morningstar sees SpaceX's share price possibly rising once shares hit the public market. "With a small initial float boosted by almost every investment bank on the planet, buoyant investor appetite for AI infrastructure bids, and an unprecedented path to inclusion in the Nasdaq 100 Index just 15 trading days after the IPO, we expect SpaceX's share price will likely survive separation and may even ascend, at least for a time," the firm concludes.

Oracle ORCL Q4 2026 Earnings Call Transcript

Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. ET

Need a quote from a Motley Fool analyst? Elon Musk's company is poised to have the largest-ever public debut by market capitalization, and the extent to which the IPO is a success could create significant valuation ripple effects for the broader market in the near term.

But while SpaceX is probably best known for its rocket launches and Starlink internet services, it's actually looking to another tech category as its biggest growth driver: artificial intelligence (AI). In the IPO prospectus that it filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last month, the company outlined a massive $28.5 trillion total addressable market (TAM) -- and AI accounts for a whopping $26.5 trillion of that estimated figure.

Here's why that's important for investors ahead of SpaceX's market debut.

J.Jill (JILL) Q1 2026 Earnings Call Transcript

Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 8 a.m. ET

Need a quote from a Motley Fool analyst?
