As we do every year, we take a look at every Chicago Bears draft pick and give you our thoughts and grade.  Last season we were dead on with the late Kyle Monangai pick.  Will we do it again?  Take a look and sound off!

Pick 25

Dillon Thieneman – S (Oregon)

To be honest, I thought Dillon Thieneman would have been off the board in the top 20, if not the top 15.  But somehow, he hung around long enough for the Bears to grab him at 25.

As I mentioned in our Mock Draft, saying the Bears have significant inconsistency on defense is a huge understatement.  They had a bottom 5 run defense, allowing the 6th-most yards rushing in the NFL last season and were tied for the 7th-fewest sacks.  Add on top of that the fact that they allowed the 5th most passing TDs in the NFL and you have a recipe for disaster.  The amount of heroics the offense had to have was directly proportional the number of big plays given up by the defense last season.  So, getting arguably the best safety in the draft, not to mention one of the fastest (4.35 second 40-yard dash) and strongest (18 bench reps), not only made sense, but was for all intents and purposes, a steal.

In 2025 at Oregon, he recorded 95 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and 3.5 TFLs in 2025, plus two interceptions having played multiple roles over his college career including free safety, weak-side linebacker, nickel, and even in the slot — giving him flexibility to fit into various defensive schemes.  He’s the perfect Day 1 add to the defense that could help take the defense back from “cross your fingers and pray” to “monsters of the midway”, particularly playing with new off-season acquisition, Coby Bryant.  Don’t think so?  Well, Coby Bryant does…

Pick 57

Logan Jones – OL (Iowa)

After standout center Drew Dalman departed unexpectedly, the Bears traded for veteran Garrett Bradbury, but he’s likely better suited as a backup.  So, getting a solid center to build on was a priority, and Logan Jones can be that guy, perhaps not immediately, but in the near future.  At 25, Jones brings experience from facing top Big Ten defenses, toughness, and the athleticism to handle Ben Johnson’s fast-paced offense.

Scouts noted his run-blocking prowess and ability to thrive in a zone-oriented system and to run outside zone, though his short arms and play strength are limitations, and there are some concerns in pass protection.  Given the Bears’ offensive line instability, Jones’ elite college resume, and his ability to compete for the starting job immediately, this does look like a solid value.  The main risk is his size and play strength in the NFL, but his experience and fit for the scheme make him a credible long-term starter.

GRADE: B+

Pick 69

Sam Roush – TE (Stanford)

Tight end wasn’t exactly the spot I thought the Bears needed to build.  I mean they have Cole Kmet and 2025 1st round pick Colston Loveland.  So, when the Bears selected Stanford tight end Sam Roush at No. 69 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, it certainly was a surprise.  That being said, having had a minute to think about it, he’s not a bad fit.

Roush started all 12 games in 2025, catching 49 passes for 545 yards and 2 TDs, with an average of 11.1 yards per catch, but more importantly for the Bears, Roush is a Y‑tight end — an in‑line blocker who excels in run‑game protection and zone coverage.  He can make cut‑off blocks in zone and combo blocks in gap schemes, and holds his own in pass protection.  After losing Durham Smythe to Baltimore, it makes sense that Ben Johnson would want to maintain flexibility in 12‑ and 13‑personnel sets, which require multiple TEs.

We all know that the NFL Draft is right around the corner, beginning on April 23rd.  And we all know that the choices that teams make that night will be a significant part in whether they end up with the Lombardi Trophy and the 32nd pick in a future draft, or if they end up with the first overall pick looking to rebuild.

Seeing as how important these decisions are, we here at Football Garbage Time again got together and decided to conduct a mock draft.  In fact, this was our 12th Annual Twitter NFL Mock Draft!

This year, seven different writers & podcasters from four different sites participated, including:

Each one took part as GMs of several teams in the draft and conducted the mock draft live over several weeks on Twitter (feel free to check out the back and forth on Twitter/X by searching for #FGTMock).  A few trends became clear and we certainly had more than a few surprises.

Last time we discussed our picks for Round 1 and we’re back to give you our picks for Round 2!

33 – New York Jets

Pick: A.J. Haulcy – S (LSU)

Staff: Ha Kung Wong

I had the Jets take care of two huge needs in the 1st round taking EDGE Arvell Reese and QB Ty Simpson.  Time to turn to that secondary, and A.J. Haulcy isn’t just a safe pick—he’s a potential difference-maker at the position. His combination of physicality, instincts, and ball skills is rare. He’s shown he can adapt quickly to new systems, dominate in multiple conferences, and elevate the defenses he joins. That adaptability matters for a Jets team that needs plug-and-play contributors.

With 347 career tackles and four years of starting experience across three programs, he’s one of the most battle-tested defenders in the class and can be an immediate starter for the Jets.  Not to mention that the Jets’ defense thrives with safeties who can play split-field looks, trigger downhill, and create turnovers—Haulcy checks every one of those boxes. His zone coverage grades and instincts align perfectly with what the Jets ask of their safeties.

34 – Arizona Cardinals

Pick: Caleb Banks – DT (Florida)

Staff: Scott King

I had the Cardinals taking Caleb Banks to provide a massive anchor in the middle of that defensive front. At 6’6″ and over 330 lbs, Banks is a physical anomaly. He’s surprisingly fluid for a man his size, and while he’s still refining his hand technique, his ability to swallow double teams and collapse the pocket from the interior is exactly what Arizona needs to allow their linebackers to play clean.

35 – Tennessee Titans

Pick: Chris Brazzell II – WR (Tennessee)

Staff: George Templeton

Taking defense in round 1 means that round 2 has to be the place where Tennessee gets Cam Ward some help. And the Titans stay local with Tennessee Volunteer Chris Brazzell II to get Ward a big target that he can throw to in the red zone over and over again.

I still remember renting UFC 1 on VHS in high school.

It was raw. Weird. Honestly, it didn’t even feel like a sport yet. No real structure, no weight classes, just a spectacle that made you lean in and wonder what you were actually watching. But it stuck with me.

I caught a few more early events the same way, then like a lot of people, I lost track.

The Comeback Era: When UFC Became a Sport

I picked it back up around 2000–2001.

That was the era of Tito Ortiz, Ken Shamrock, and the rise of personalities that made the sport real. Then came The Ultimate Fighter 1, and that changed everything. It gave the UFC structure, storytelling, and fighters you could actually follow.

From there, I was in.

I had my guys:

• Michael Bisping
• Quinton “Rampage” Jackson
• Urijah Faber in WEC
• Georges St-Pierre dominating

I even followed PRIDE Fighting Championships. Back then, if you were into MMA, you were really into it.

The PPV Problem

But here’s where things started to break.

The pay per view model got heavy.

Events became more frequent. My favorite fighters started retiring. New names came in, but I didn’t have that same connection. Guys like Jon Jones were incredible, but inconsistent. It was hard to stay locked in.

And paying for every major card? It just stopped making sense.

So like a lot of fans, I drifted. Not out completely, but definitely not locked in.

The Shift That Changed Everything

Then the UFC did something really different.

They moved away from relying purely on PPV and leaned into a subscription model through platforms like Paramount+ and other streaming distribution.

Now instead of asking fans to make a $70 decision every few weeks, they made it simple:

You’re already subscribed. Just watch.

And that changed my behavior completely.

From Occasional Viewer to Weekly Fan Again

Now I’m watching almost every weekend.

Not just the big numbered fights. The Fight Nights. The undercards. The unknown fighters grinding their way up.

And honestly? Some of those non-headline cards have been just as good, if not better.

Guys like Paddy Pimblett gave me someone new to follow. Not just for skill, but personality. That’s always been the secret sauce.

The Numbers Back It Up

Streaming is working.

While exact figures vary by platform and region, major MMA broadcast partners and streaming services tied to UFC distribution now reach tens of millions of subscribers globally, with services like Paramount+ alone reporting 60M+ subscribers worldwide.

That matters.

Because it means:

• Lower friction to watch
• More consistent engagement
• Casual fans turning into regular viewers

That’s exactly what happened to me.

The NFL Comparison: Making It Hard vs Making It Easy

Here’s the interesting part.

There’s a growing conversation about the National Football League making it harder to follow games. Different platforms, exclusive rights, fragmented viewing.

The UFC went the opposite direction.

They made it easier.

• Less decision friction
• More access
• More frequency
• Lower perceived cost

And the result?

I watch more UFC now than I ever did during the “peak PPV” era.

Final Take

The UFC didn’t just evolve as a sport. It evolved as a business.

From VHS curiosity…
To PPV powerhouse…
To a streaming-first weekly habit.

That last shift is the one that brought fans like me back.

And if they keep it this accessible?

I’m not going anywhere.

1 – Las Vegas Raiders

Pick: Fernando Mendoza – QB (Indiana)

Staff: George Templeton

I am sure the Raiders will consider trading down now that they have Kirk . . . Oh nooooo. Las Vegas is not the same old dysfunctional franchise that they’ve been. You don’t hire a bright offensive mind like Clint Kubiak and not pair him with THE outstanding quarterback in this year’s draft class. Fernando Mendoza was the only choice for the Raiders.

2 – New York Jets

Pick: Arvell Reese – EDGE (Ohio State)

Staff: Ha Kung Wong

In many ways, the Jets might benefit from trading down to get more picks since they have so many gaps to fills and could benefit from on both defense and offense.  But if they’re picking at number 2 overall, Arvell Reese is the player they should pick.

In 2025, Reese started all 14 games for the Buckeyes piling up 69 tackles, 10 TFLs with 6.5 sacks and 2 pass breakups, resulting in being named First-team Associated Press All-American, Big Ten Conference LB of the Year, and First-team All-Big Ten.  He’s an EDGE who can also play second-level linebacker and did so regularly Ohio State, allowing for some great versatility and defensive creativity at the NFL level.  The Jets are in dire need of a pass-rush, but being able to effectively track jet sweeps as well as drop in to mid-route coverage checks several boxes that can help improve a struggling Jets defense.

Reese had the fastest 40-yard dash time (4.46 seconds) and 10-yard split (1.58) of any defensive end in the NFL Scouting Combine and absolutely blasted agility drills.  He has enough speed to cover sideline-to-sideline and can be that spark the Jets need.

3 – Arizona Cardinals

Pick: Sonny Styles – LB (Ohio State)

Staff: Scott King

The Logic: Arizona needs a transformative defender who can anchor a versatile scheme. Styles is a defensive “eraser” with the size of a linebacker (6’4″, 240 lbs) and the range of a safety. In 2025, he recorded an elite tackle-to-miss ratio (90 attempts, 2 misses), proving he can stabilize the middle of the field while neutralizing the “big-slot” tight ends that typically create mismatches.

4 – Tennessee Titans

Pick: David Bailey – EDGE (Texas Tech)

Staff: George Templeton

I am sure the tug of war inside the Tennessee war room was real. Help your quarterback by getting the best offensive player in this draft (Jeremiyah Love) or give newly-hired Robert Saleh a chance to build the kind of defenses he’s built in New York and San Francisco. The fact the best edge rusher in the draft, David Bailey, fell to 4 makes him the pick for the Titans.

5 – New York Giants

Pick: Carnell Tate – WR (Ohio State)

Staff: Joanne Kong

In the 2025 season, Jaxson Dart has proven he can become the new face of the Giants’ franchise. Now that the NY Giants have a quarterback they can build on, that should be the goal for the 2026 NFL Draft. Former Baltimore Ravens and new Giants head coach John Harbaugh loves his running backs. It might have been a need if the Giants hadn’t found their work horse with Cam Skattebo, who left last season with an injury. Skattebo was a breakout player in his rookie season, bringing the Giants backfield to life. To expand the field, Harbaugh recruited Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely, predicting big things for Likely and big wins for the NY Giants. During free agency, wide receiver Darnell Mooney (Atlanta Falcons) and Calvin Austin III (Pittsburgh Steelers) were also brought in to expand the receiving core. The additions help Jaxon Dart, but the Giants are still missing the big playmaker.

This is where the #5 draft pick, Carnell Tate, fits into the puzzle. Carnell Tate finished his last season at Ohio State with 875 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns. Throughout his college career, Tate totaled 1872 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. During the combine, Tate was noted for his route running and excelling at contested catches. At six-three, Carnell Tate should be a welcome target for Jaxson Dart.

6 – Cleveland Browns

Pick: Monroe Freeling – OT (Georgia)

Staff: Dave Earl

Freeling is a massive (6’7”, 315 lbs), highly athletic left tackle prospect with elite length, quick feet, and rare movement skills (near-perfect RAS score). He started full-time at LT for Georgia in 2025 after limited prior experience, showing upside as a pass protector with room to add strength. The Browns have invested in interior OL and RT via free agency but still have a clear hole at left tackle, where protection remains a priority for their young QBs. His size, athleticism, and developmental traits make him a strong, high-upside fit to anchor the edge long-term.

7 – Washington Commanders

Pick: Jeremiyah Love – RB (Notre Dame)

Staff: Dave Earl

Love is an explosive, do-it-all running back (6’0”, 212 lbs) with elite speed (4.36 40), vision, receiving skills, and big-play ability—he led Notre Dame with strong production and ranks as a top overall prospect. The Commanders added veteran RBs in free agency but still value young, dynamic talent to complement their offense and add explosiveness. His three-down versatility and playmaking fit what the team has sought in skill-position additions, providing immediate impact without over-relying on one back.

8 – New Orleans Saints

Pick: Rueben Bain Jr. – EDGE (Miami)

Staff: Dave Earl

Bain is a powerful, compact edge rusher (6’2”-6’3”, ~263-270 lbs) known for violent hands, elite run defense, bull rush strength, and high motor—he generated massive pressures and plays with alpha leadership. The Saints’ defensive line has struggled with pressure rates and needs reinforcements at edge/DL amid veteran transitions. His high-floor power game, versatility (edge or sub-package inside), and disruptive potential align well with bolstering the front seven for a more competitive unit.

9 – Kansas City Chiefs

Pick: Caleb Downs – S (Ohio State)

Staff: Wole Akinso

10 – Cincinnati Bengals

Pick: Jermod McCoy – CB (Tennessee)

Staff: Ha Kung Wong

The Bengals had a ton of issues to address on defense entering the offseason, but since then have signed Jonathan Allen to the interior of their defensive line, Bryan Cook to their safety room, and Boye Mafe to their edge rusher group.  That leaves the Bengals in a good spot to address their need at corner with Jermod McCoy.

McCoy is coming off an ACL injury over a year ago but has a slightly depressed draft stock since he hasn’t played since 2024.  He did put up some solid numbers at the Tennessee Pro Day with a 38” vertical jump and a 10’7” broad jump, also running a 4.38 40-yard dash.  In 2024, McCoy had 44 tackles and 4 interceptions on the season and likely would have been an easy Top 5 Draft pick if he didn’t have the ACL injury. But the Pro Day performance should give the Bengals enough confidence that he’s back to picking up exactly where he left off.

11 – Miami Dolphins

Pick: Makai Lemon – WR (USC)

Staff: Kaiden King

12 – Dallas Cowboys

Pick: Mansour Delane – CB (LSU)

Staff: Ha Kung Wong

The Cowboys clearly have a rebuilt defense in their sights after getting new defensive coordinator Christian Parker, who brings a 3-4 scheme from Philadelphia.  They gave up 6.1 yards per play in 2025, 31st in the NFL and third worst for any team in any of the past five seasons, so there’s plenty of room for improvement.  They’ve already made some solid additions at corner this offseason like Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick, along with having Shavon Revel and Daron Bland returning, but if they really want their secondary to pop, taking one of the best corner backs in the draft in Mansour Delane makes a ton of sense.

At LSU last season, Delane was named First-team Associated Press All-American, First-team All-SEC and tied for ninth in the FBS with 1.2 passes defensed per game. He started 11 games leading LSU with 11 pass breakups and added 45 tackles and 2 INTs.  Delane can step immediately and take away an opposing team’s best receiver with his man-to-man coverage ability and knack for attacking the ball when it’s in his vicinity, perfect for Parker’s system.  With McCoy off the board, this is a no-brainer.

13 – Los Angeles Rams (from Falcons)

Pick: Francis Mauigoa – OT (Miami)

Staff: Scott King

The Logic: This is a high-floor, high-value move to secure the pocket. Mauigoa entered the draft as the consensus top offensive lineman after allowing zero sacks and zero penalties during Miami’s 2025-26 postseason run. His 6’6″, 335 lb frame and elite hand-fighting technique make him a plug-and-play starter for the Rams’ outside zone and duo-run schemes.

14 – Baltimore Ravens

Pick: Jordyn Tyson – WR (Arizona State)

Staff: Wole Akinso

15 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Pick: Akheem Mesidor – EDGE (Miami)

Staff: Joanne Kong

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fall from grace in the 2nd half of the 2025 season was disappointing for Buccaneer fans and fantasy players alike. Finishing with an 8-9 season asks the question…what went wrong?

Was it Baker Mayfield? The offensive line? The defense?

Like all struggling teams, pinpointing a specific area is easy, but the truth of the matter is that the team cohesively didn’t work.

In the quarterback position, Baker Mayfield will be backed up by Jake Browning, since drafting a quarterback will be difficult at pick fifteen. Protection for Baker Mayfield should be on the list for the 2026 draft, since a protection in the pocket will be a necessity for Mayfield’s production and health. Even though the offensive line could use some tender love and care, with the fifteenth pick of the 2026 draft, the Buccaneers need to consider shoring up the defense.

Although the Buccaneers had 38 sacks last season, much of that pressure came from the interior and blitz rather than outside. Opposing teams quickly learned the weakness of the outside rush defense, leaving the Buccaneers vulnerable to the passing game and late game breakdowns.

Edge, Akheem Mesidor, had 71 total pressures, 21.3% pass-rush wins (94th percentile) rate and 16% pressure rate.

Although his past foot injuries are concerning for this 25-year-old defender, Mesidor possesses talent that cannot be overlooked, strength, flexibility and athleticism that translates into the NFL. With a solid foundation and discipline, Mesidor has shown the ability to beat the opposing offensive line and attack opposing quarterbacks by becoming the aggressor, initiating contact and beating the opponent with effective hand play and movement.

Mesidor’s addition would create a credible threat that would put pressure on opposing offenses, allowing the Buccaneers to finish games and win.

16 – New York Jets (from Colts)

Pick: Ty Simpson – QB (Alabama)

Staff: Ha Kung Wong

I suspect that this pick might be controversial among fans because the Jets have so many needs on defense.  But let’s be honest, the Jets bombed out with Geno Smith when they drafted him, and a 35-year-old Geno Smith coming off a terrible season in Las Vegas is not filling me with much optimism.  Neither does winless UDFA Brady Cook or re-tread Baily Zappe make me think anything resembling an offense could be on the field at MetLife for the Jets in 2026.  So with the Jets second pick of the draft, Ty Simpson makes a lot of sense.

Simpson waited in Alabama behind Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe before getting his chance in 2025 and he did not disappoint ending up being ranked 7th in the FBS with 305 completions (473 attempts, 64.5%), 10th with 3,567 passing yards along with 28 passing TDs and 5 INTs, plus 2 rushing TDs. He started all 15 games as a Team Captain and ultimately led the Crimson Tide to the College Football Championships before falling to eventual champion Indiana.  It’s clear he has the pedigree and the ability to work under pressure, with excellent mechanics, but is probably not ready to start immediately.  Some might disagree with me on this but getting him now makes for a great plan for 2027, with some 2026 upside.

After a 64.7% record four seasons ago, and 63.3% (178-103) three seasons ago and 63.4% (180-104) two seasons ago, I ended up at a whopping 68.8% last season, my best season yet.  So that’s ten years in a row with over a 60% pick rate.  I also had 84% right for Locks of the Week (16-3) and 44.4% for Upsets of the Week (8-10), so not only did I meet my 2023 percentages for both Locks and Upsets, but I have ten years in a row of Locks being over 70%.  But that was the past, and this is now, and I’m shooting for eleven in a row for both!

After the Conference Championships, leaving me at 181-100 for the season (64.4%), hitting my Lock (20-1) and missing my Upset (10-10).  Another season above 60%!

Seattle 38, New England 13: Drake Maye’s had a pretty poor playoffs against 3 really good defenses. Now he faced a fourth defense just as good. Maybe 2 weeks off makes a difference, but I don’t think so.

The Seahawks have had some luck but playing the Rams was a much better preparation for the Super Bowl then the Patriots adventures in the Denver snow globe.

Seattle is missing no elements to their game. Maybe the best WR in football (Jaxson Smith-Njigba), a pretty powerful running game with Kenneth Walker III, an emerging tight end (A.J. Barner) plus their defense and a weapon on special teams in Rashid Shaheed.

So. Seattle -4.5. Over 45.5. Kenneth Walker first TD. Seattle defensive or special teams TD, yes. Sam Darnold over 1.5 passing touchdowns.

In 2024, we were over 70% for cash lineups again and we’re back with more Daily Fantasy Football advice for Cash Games for Super Bowl LX!

As usual, before we get to winning you more bragging rights (and DFS cash), remember, the point of this article is not just to give you one or two lineups for each site, it’s to give you examples of a few POSSIBLE lineups.  Getting exposure to a few different lineups is always a good idea, so don’t forget to mix and match additional lineups from my suggestions below.  Trust me, it’s a lot more fun that way AND you’ll improve your chances of cashing!

Let’s get to winning you some CASH in Super Bowl LX!

Cash Games, for those who don’t know, are essentially the lowest risk games.  They include “50/50” games, in which half the entrants win about 1.8x the entry fee, and “Double Ups”, in which slightly less than half the entrants win 2x the entry fee.

Since there’s so many different sites, and I can’t cover them all, I’ve decided to cover just the most popular sites, including Fan Duel, Draft Kings and Yahoo! Daily Fantasy.

All the Super Bowl lineups this year are of the “Single Game” or “Showdown” variety.  This means slightly different things on FanDuel, Draft Kings and Yahoo.

• FanDuel – You have $60,000 total salary to fill 1 MVP and 4 regular spots. MVP scores 1.5x but does NOT cost more. The average amount you have to spend per player is $12,000.
• Draft Kings – You have $50,000 total salary to fill 1 Captain and 5 regular spots. Captain scores 1.5x but COSTS 1.5x more. The average amount you have to spend per player is $10,000. But since you have to pay more for your Captain, assume you’re paying around $15,000 for a Captain leaving you with around $7000 for each of the 5 remaining slots.
• Yahoo – You have a $135 total salary to fill 1 Superstar and 4 regular spots.  Superstar scores 1.5x but does NOT cost more. The average amount you have to spend per player is $27.

Remember, this article is not focused on GPP (Tournament) Games, JUST Cash Games.  Feel free to use a few of these suggested players as a base when constructing a GPP lineup, but you’ll have to take some chances on a few low cost, upside players as well.

As per usual, I’m going to provide you with a few sample lineups on each site and give you a few notes to consider.  You’re welcome.

So, without further to do, here are my suggestions for the Best Daily Fantasy Football Plays for Cash Games for Super Bowl LX.

FanDuel 

Draft Kings 

Yahoo! DFS

Game Notes:

• No “Free Square of the Week”, but there’s still plenty of value.
• The New England Patriots had the 2nd most points (28.8) per game on offense during the regular season, and they haven’t been fantastic in the post season so far, but I’m not too concerned.  That being said, it’s unclear who is going to benefit the most, so for the Patriots I prefer to get exposure via Drake Maye.  He’s had a breakout season, and due to a number of reasons, such as weather and a shoulder injury, he hasn’t done as well in the postseason.  That’s OK, I’ll take the discount everyone is giving due the recent downturn in production and take advantage of his rushing floor and TD upside.  I also don’t mind playing Hunter Henry, since the Seahawks have had some issues with TEs, but I’m generally limiting exposure to the Rhamondre Stevenson and Trayveon Henderson since the Seahawks have allowed the 3rd least rush yards per game (91.9) during the regular season.  And of course, feel free to slot in Andy Borregales as there may be plenty of stalled drives in field goal range.  If you need another punt play, I also like Mack Hollins as he came back from a short injury stint to catch 2 passes for 51 yards in the Conference Championship.  Prior to his injury in his last two regular season games he piled up 11 receptions on a whopping 17 targets.  For the price, he’s a great upside play.
• The Patriots are little more vulnerable through the air (9th) than on the ground (6th), so for the Seattle Seahawks I’m leaning towards Sam Darnold, coming off 346 yards and 3 TDs in the Conference Championship game, and Jaxson Smith-Njigba, who has the 2nd most receptions (132), yards (1,965) and TDs (12) in the regular season, but I’m also targeting Kenneth Walker, particularly with Zach Charbonnet out, since Walker has the 10th most receiving yards of any RB in the NFL over the regular season and has had 4 total rushing TDs in his two playoff games.  In fact, I don’t mind punting with George Holani in his second game back with RB2 duties.  But my favorite punt of the slate has got to be Rashid Shaheed, who could at any time break one for a TD.
  • For the MVP/Captain, I prefer Sam Darnold or Kenneth Walker as each don’t blow the bank when you pay up the 1.5 x.
  • For the Superstar on Yahoo, since you don’t have to pay a premium, I like going with Jaxson Smith-Njigba.
• On defense, I love taking value and paying down, so just slot in any defense you can afford if you need to save cap space.  If you have a choice, though, the Seahawks do have an impressive 47 sacks during the regular season, and the Patriots have allowed a jaw-dropping 48 sacks during the regular season.  So, the Seahawks Defense isn’t a bad choice.

First of all, as a general rule for 50/50 Cash Games, there’s a basic target of points per salary cap spent that you’d like to look for:

• For Fan Duel try to target at least 2 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
• For Draft Kings, try to target at least 2.5 fantasy points per $1000 spent.
• For Yahoo! Daily Fantasy, try to target at least 0.6-0.7 fantasy points per $1 spent.

Remember, this article is not focused on GPP (Tournament) Games, JUST Cash Games.  Feel free to use a few of these suggested players as a base when constructing a GPP lineup, but you’ll have to take some chances on a few low cost, upside players as well.

As per usual, I’m going to provide you with a few sample lineups on each site and give you a few notes to consider.  You’re welcome.

Game Notes:

• For those new to this column, note that I never advocate against you paying up at any particular position for DFS.  We all know that the likes of Josh Allen and Jahmyr Gibbs are probably going to have the most consistent upside in terms of potential fantasy points from week to week.  But remember that DFS is a salary cap game.  You can feel free to sprinkle high priced players into your lineups, but you can’t pay up at every position because there’s simply not enough salary to go around.  I try my best each week to provide my thoughts on how you might want to balance your cash lineups in terms of points potential and salary.
• For the Conference Championships, I’m paying up for Matt Stafford or Sam Darnold, definitely targeting Kenneth Walker and trying to squeeze in at least one of Puka Nacua or Jaxson Smith-Njigba.  The rest will be mostly value picks.
• No “Free Squares of the Week” this week, but there’s still plenty of value.  We’ll touch on that in each of the games.
• The New England Patriots at Denver Broncos has an over/under of 43.5 and a spread of 3.5, but the Patriots seem to be int he drivers seat with Bo Nix out.  The Patriots had the 2nd most points (28.8) per game during the regular season, so I don’t expect that to stop now.  That being said, it’s unclear who is going the benefit the most, so I don’t mind playing some mainstays like Hunter Henry, and taking some shots at the likes of Kayshon Boutte, but I’m generally limiting exposure to the Rhamondre Stevenson since the Broncos have allowed the 2nd least rush yards per game (91.1) during the regular season.  I’m probably avoiding Drake Maye as well, just because he might not have to do much in this game.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see this to be more of a defensive game.  The Patriots have top 10 defense all around, but I don’t mind taking cheap shots at RJ Harvey based on usage and Pat Bryant coming back from injury.
• The Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks has an over/under of 45.5 with a spread of 2.5, and I like both teams.  The Rams had the most yards (394.6) and points (30.5) per game on offense, so I really like Matt Stafford and Puka Nacua, who are probably my favorite two plays of the day.  The Seahawks are no slouch as they have the 7th most yards () and 3rd most yards per game on offense, so I’m good with playing Sam Darnold, Jaxson Smith-Njigba and really like Kenneth Walker, particularly with Zach Charbonnet out.  In fact, I don’t mind punting with George Holani returning from injury and taking over the RB2 duties.
• On defense, I love taking value and paying down, so just slot in any defense you can afford.  I don’t think there are any exceptional matchups to pay up for if you need the cap space for the skill positions.

Lock of the Week New England Patriots (-5.0) over Denver Broncos

The Broncos aren’t a bad team, but they’re probably the least threatening offense left in the playoffs, and now without Bo Nix, they’re even less threatening.  Drake Maye is having a breakout season, but he’s not infallible doing his part to contribute to “Turnover Fest” against CJ Stroud and Texans in the Divisional Round Playoffs.  But the defense is solid and the offense has been clicking, so I don’t expect there to be any major surprises from backup QB Jarrett Stidham.  Lock in the Pats.

Another .500 playoff record. Phooey, let’s go 2 for 2 this week.

New England at Denver: Yes the Bo Nix injury is bad news. But you know what we haven’t had this week. All sorts of questions about will Nix play or won’t he. No talk of “Jarrett Stidham is taking all the snaps but Bo Nix might play.” Nope. Stidham is the starter, the team believes in him and he’s going to be prepared all week to play. And that’s why I am picking the Broncos here. Plus the Denver defense at home has often been dominant. And we might see a young QB struggle on the road in a very loud stadium with a ferocious defense, the same way a previous New England QB, Tom Brady, once did.

L.A. Rams at Seattle: For financial reasons I am pulling hard for Seattle. But I can’t get that game out of my mind where Sam Darnold threw a handful of interceptions. The Rams front swarmed him and Darnold was shook and looked lost. I think the Rams can reproduce that defensive effort plus if Sean McVay will lean on Kyren Williams and Blake Corum more, they’ve shown they can run against that tough Seahawks defense. I never like taking Sean McVay but I will here because he’s got more experience, he has the better QB and the defenses are close enough that the Rams aren’t at a massive disadvantage.
