A little about Leach Botanical Garden -
Our Garden is the crown jewel of public park spaces in Outer Southeast Portland. Wander more than a mile of trails and paths, discovering the Garden's special places. Find the Stone Cabin and the blue dinosaur. Like a library of plants, the various species in our collection display their qualities during different seasons.

The lush green landscape is also home to a variety of fauna. Deer, rabbits, squirrels are not uncommon. Occasional beaver and ermine may be seen. Hummingbirds and hawks, dragonflies and butterflies make their home here. Johnson Creek is home to fish and other aquatic creatures.

Dedicated volunteers make it possible for the Garden to be open to the public six days a week. They provide information at the Manor House and opportunities to browse our gift shop. More than a park, Leach offers a unique experience of the botanical, artistic, historic and natural landscapes. See you soon.

This unique program provides assistance and incentives to residents on lots less than one acre, within the cities of Portland and Lake Oswego, to restore native wildlife habitat in their backyards.

Audubon Society of Portland, Columbia Land Trust and Friends of Tryon Creek have teamed up to create a unique Backyard Habitat Certification Program.

The Backyard Habitat Certification Program provides assistance and incentives to residents on lots less than one acre, within the cities of Portland and Lake Oswego, to restore native wildlife habitat in their backyards. There are four program elements: removal of aggressive weeds, naturescaping with native plants, stormwater management and wildlife stewardship.

Hello there FoPo neighbors...

it is time to get ready for this year's Garden Tour...

The date is always the 3rd Saturday in June, so this year that means, Saturday, June 21st.

We will keep the timing the same as last year...

West half of neighborhood, the Foster-Powell junction to 66th will be 10AM-1PM

67th to 82nd will be 1PM-4PM.

If you are interested in being a HOST Garden and will be available during the CORRECT Time for your address on Saturday, June 21st...then please follow the below link to complete the Questionnaire NO LATER than Wednesday, April 30th!!!

Please keep your Yard Descriptions short ant sweet, under 30 words, so we can get everything on our map.

This year, we are asking every Yard host to collect at LEAST one donation for our Raffle. The Raffle will be a fundraiser to help with the costs of putting on this FREE Public Garden Tour Event.

If you can collect More than one donation, that is EVEN Better!

Donations are preferred as Gift Cards, that way we can easily mail them out to winners and they require the winner to go back to the business giving the donation.

We encourage donations from all our local neighborhood businesses but we accept donations

Also, we are looking for Volunteers to help with the planning and coordination of this annual Neighborhood Event. If you would like to volunteer your time and skills, please let us know by responding to his email.

Lastly, if you know a Foster-Powell neighbor that was not on the tour last year but might be interested this year or is new to the neighborhood, please forward this email to them. To Participate they do need to be within the Foster Powell Neighborhood Boundary... that is between Foster and Powell Blvd up to 82nd Ave.

They do not need to show their whole yard...they can do just the back or just the front or the whole yard. There are no Garden/Yard qualifications to meet, all yards and encouraged, especially if you are proud of the work you have done to your yard.

This event is meant to actively engage neighbors, to introduce and showcase our neighborhood to the public, and to share gardening ideas and inspiration!

Come down to Pieper Cafe, Saturday, March 15 from 9:30-11:30 to ask questions, get more Info and get signed up!

Volunteers are needed to, as this Garden Tour is an entirely volunteer run neighborhood event.
A volunteers help can be big or small...from being part of the planning committee, to canvassing flyers, to collecting a few or a lot of raffle donations from area businesses.
We also need paper, printing and lamination donations.

Do you want your garden to be on the tour? Are you unsure if you should have your garden on the tour? Come by ask questions and you'll see the answer is YES...as long as you will be around the third Saturday in June!

I will have access to the Waste Transfer Station for 6 months to create a body of work that is 99% gleaned from the dump! A show of the work opens at DISJECTA on August 16th, 2013. 10AM-1PM will be Gardens inside the Foster-Powell triangle WEST of Kern Park at 67th Ave.

THEN

1PM-4PM will be Gardens inside the Foster-Powell triangle EAST of Kern Park at 67th Ave
