Forest City Swing will be offering Lindy Hop Workshops Starting in January 2012. These are monthly workshops with individual sessions taking place on Thursday nights before our 6 count lesson.

Who should take the workshops:

We encourage everyone to take the Lindy Hop Workshops! Whether you are a beginner or you have been dancing for a while, anyone can improve upon their knowledge and abilities in order to become a better dancer.

How it works:

The workshops are separated into 3 catagories, Charleston, Lindy Fundamentals and Lindy Melting Pot. Anyone can attend the Charleston workshop.  However, everyone  must take Lindy Fundamentals before advancing to the Lindy Melting Pot. Each workshop will be 4 weeks long(generally). When you register, you are committing to 4 weeks of workshops (1 hour in length each week) on Thursday nights before swing dancing.

Once you have taken any of our workshops, you can re-take them at no additional cost whenever we offer them.

The workshops have limited space, so sign up quickly. Currently we are at a 30 person maximum per workshop. A minimum of 10 people are needed to run the class.

Registration:

Starting December 22nd, you will be able to register for the workshops. Register with Paul at the DJ table or email him at forestcityswing@gmail.com.

If you come swing dancing: register on Thursday nights at Swing dancing with payment.

Workshop prices:

The price of the workshops includes entry into swing dancing for the month.

Charleston:                            Thursdays in January 2012.   Total Cost: $40

Lindy Fundamentals:         Thursdays in March 2012.  Total Cost: $40

Lindy Melting Pot:               Last 3 Thursdays in Apri 2012l.  Total Cost: $40

Workshops will be from 6:45- 7:45 pm. Please be a little early to the workshop.

What to wear

Comfortable clothes! Comfortable dance shoes recommended. No sandals of any kind.  Please bring a change of shoes if it is wet
outside.

Forest City Swing Thursday Night Lessons

Forest City Swing will start teaching the Lindy Hop on Thursday nights starting this Thursday 3/4/10!  Lindy Hop is a more diverse and fun dance,  a little difficult to learn, but don’t worry, we will be teaching Lindy for begginners.  We believe you will like the Lindy Hop even better than the 6-count.  Admission is still the same.  Every week we will be teaching 45 minutes of Lindy Lessons.  Be there on time as with the Lindy, it is very difficult to “jump in” on the lessons if you are late.  See you all there!

Weekend Lindy Hop Workshops! June 4th & 5th

Forest City Swing is as non-profit group. The net proceeds from the event and the net proceeds collected at weekly Thursday night swing dancing was donated to two charities in Rockford: The Rockford Rescue Mission and Rockford Sharefest.
