At dooyoo Masterchef98 is enamoured with the Miele S5281. He purchased after reading ‘rave reviews’ in the wake of his previous vacuum eventually kicking the bucket. Is he pleased with the S5281? In a word, yes,

“I’m very, very happy with my Miele S5281. You have to take your vacuuming seriously to pay this amount for a vacuum but I think you can really see the added value with the special brushes, quiet setting etc so it is money well spent.”

It seems that the Omlet UK boards are full  with Miele Cat and Dog fans. Among these are Bluekarin, Henriette and Mrs Frugal who says of hers,

“I have a Miele Cat and Dog cylinder vacuum and its fab. […] It gets everything up off carpets, tiles or wooden floors with ease.”

Among the discussion there is also less specific discussion on the Miele brand, so if you want to see what is being said head on over.

“It’s knackered with smoke coming out of it. Guess I’ll need a new one.”

Thankfully though a ‘knackered’ washing machine is no match for the MSE community. The request for recommendations has seen three pages worth of responses; admittedly not all have been helpful, though the majority of posts falling into this category have at least provided a smile. However, the more informative replies have had many brands suggested, but for Munkiemunkie81 and Gunsandbanjos the new machine has to be a Miele,

There are numerous responses all offering helpful advice and suggesting models and brands of vacuums that might suit. Among these are Applechilli, Dufferdawg and HilaryT who all give their seal of approval to Miele. HilaryT stating,

“Miele Cat and Dog - the best vacuum I have EVER owned….knocks spots off all the others that I’ve had - and my mum owns one now and thinks it’s fantastic.”

Speaking to an engineer Stuart found himself kneeling before the dryer,

“The engineer on the phone listened to the sound while I hand turned the drum.
‘I know what it is!’ he said.
‘Have a look at the back - it’s a bra wire.’
And sure enough a white bra wire was wedged in the back grill. I got some pliers and yanked it out [and] the dryer is fine. The engineer had 25 years experience, and it showed.”

Stuart’s no longer looking at the cost of a new dryer… though his wife may have to fork out for some new underwear.

The first response is from Alisont,

“I’m sure you will get lots of replies here, I’ve got the Miele cat and dog vacuum but think it’s about 7 or 8kg? […] I got it from John Lewis; got an extended guarantee and Miele send me 5 bags a year and filters which is good. When we had a dog it got up all the fur and is good at getting up the rabbit fur when he’s inside!”

Sarahjk21 responds stating that she’d actually had a Miele previously and forgotten how good they are. So will she go back to the brand? There is no news yet on the thread, but to read the other recommendations and keep an eye on the outcome click through.

They run through the features of the 14 place setting capacity machine taking special note of the efficiency the G 1225 gives,

“An Eco consumption wash program […] offers an efficient wash using 10 litres of water. The energy consumption is around 0.6kWh. There is a Turbo function in this Miele dishwasher that offers excellent washing and drying performance whilst saving up to 50 minutes wash cycle time.”

“The care and level of service received by me from Miele will ensure that from now on it will only be Miele for me. My mother owns a Miele automatic washing machine and she has had it for 24 years, so I think the brand name speaks for itself. You are getting quality and good back up service, both of which are equally important to me.”

Tracey61 gives the microwave a 5/5 star rating and states that she can’t really find any disadvantages, instead enjoing the ease of use and loving the grill function. Have you used the M8151? If so let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment below…

The response from the community members has seen quite a few recommendations for Miele when it comes to a vacuum with a bag. DEmmerson and Norbitonite both agree Miele is the way to go and mention the sliding shut off the bags have to stop dust escaping during the changing of bags. It is this that seems to have won over Cathrin,

“Ah, I like the sound of that sliding shutoff thing! Guess I’ll have to save up for a Miele then. I know they’re pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for!
