Summer Reading Program at Barnes & Noble

Summer is a time for fun, but you can also foster your kids’ love of books during vacation with the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program. This is a free program. To participate, simply download and print a reading journal here, then read any eight books this summer and make note of them in the journal. When you’re done, turn it in to your local store and receive a free book from a select list. You don’t have to buy the books from B&N to participate in the program – they can be borrowed from the library, lent from friends or purchased just about anywhere.

Free Doughnut at Krispy Kreme Friday

Friday, June 1 is National Doughnut Day – and in celebration of the occasion, Krispy Kreme stores will offer a free doughnut of any variety to all customers. No purchase or coupon is necessary.

Unfortunately, Fort Worth no longer has a Krispy Kreme store. However, there is a location in Grapevine (3605 Ira E. Woods Ave.) and Arlington (2600 S. Cooper St.)

Free Project at Home Depot

On Saturday, June 2, head over to your local Home Depot for their monthly kids’ workshop – this time, kids can build a free organizer to store their things (also makes a great gift for Father’s Day!). The workshop begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until 12 p.m. – but it’s always wise to get there earlier since supplies are limited.

The workshops are intended for kids ages 5-12. All kids get to keep their craft and receive a FREE Kids Workshop Apron, commemorative pin and certificate of achievement, too.

Kids Eat Free at Chili’s Today

Through today, you can print a coupon for free kids’ meals at Chili’s with the purchase of an adult entree. This coupon is only good through May 30. According to the fine print on the coupon, you can get up to 2 free kids’ meals with a single entree purchase. Another hint: I always buy an entree off of the lunch menu – it’s cheaper and they will serve it during dinner hours (despite what the menu says). In the end, my two kids and I can eat for $10 during kids eat free promotions, including the tip!

Summer Kickoff Event at Bass Pro Shops

On Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27, Bass Pro Shops will hold a Summer Kickoff Event at its Grapevine store. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., families can get a free camping-themed photo download, and from noon to 4 p.m., there will be free crafts for the kids (sand art sun on Saturday, wooden insect on Sunday). Plus, kids can complete a Summer Kickoff Challenge – the first 100 kids to complete all 3 activities in the challenge will receive a free bug glider!
