I live in the country and would not have it any other way, I was born and raised in the city and never seen myself as a country girl at all, not until I got married and that now has been over 30 years ago and can never see myself moving back to a city ever again. The only draw back is the fact that ya need a car here to even do grocery shopping, we have other stores around the area such as stores for horse lovers, stores mostly that purchase their items via the equestrian apparel at TheEquestrianCorner.com through online shopping. We don’t have horses and doubt we every will.

It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since his last seizure. I know he will still have them, but each day he makes it through without one is a good day for him and well as us. To look at him know, you would never know he is an epi dog, he is happy and playful and full of piss and vinegar. But there is the down side to the seizures where to much activity and allowing him to get over stimulated can take him in the direction of another full blown GM seizure. Its so heart breaking to watch him go through those and know all we can do is talk to him and comfort him, him and I have set and I have just held him and talked to him when he comes out of a seizure, I can sense the peace he gets from just the talking.

I do a lot of shopping at thrift stores, being on a fixed income, it saves me a lot of money and sometimes you are able to find things there that still even have the tags on them. I love Wednesday at the local thrift store, because its 1/2 price day for senior citizens. So I get there nice and early. Right now I am needing things for winter which I manged to find some nice pull over tops. I noticed the store clerk was just putting out a bunch of nurses scrubs and the pattern on them caught my eye because they were so colorful, I was tempted to buy one just to get the top of it, but I passed it up.

As summer slowly moves past us more each day, I am starting to notice the coolness of the night air, the feeling of fall, the leave have not started to change yet, but I suspect that the tree’s will soon start to prepare themselves for the upcoming winter. I wonder if we are in for a bad winter, considering the heat and humidity of this summer leaves me thinking we are going to be in for some really cold as well as snowy days. I am however thankful that I am retired and no longer need to go out in the early morning to dig my car out of the snow and then start it up and go back into the house and wait for it to warm up before I would leave for work.

What is it with cats and corrugated box, my cats have nice beds that you would think would be much more comfortable than a box, but NO, they like seem to prefer a box over the comfort of a specially designed cozy bed. I have 3 cats and its funny to watch them all try to pile up into the one box, and one of them usually ends up leaving and finding someplace else to snuggle up.

We took Rowdy to the Vet on Friday 7/27 and he was diagnosed as Epileptic and given Phenobarbital. We have had to adjust the dosage 3 times since Friday because he was to sedated with the higher dosage and he is on a 1/4 pill every 12 hours now and he has not had any further seizures now since Friday morning at 6AM. Each day he is progressing a little bit more and showing more interest in things around him, and that includes my son who Rowdy just loves totally. When Matt came home from work, Rowdy went running to meet him and to see him be happy to see him make me almost cry. I pray that he continues to improve, but I also am aware that the disease is a roller coaster ride and constantly has its ups and downs, right now we are pampering him even more than we normally did. We also changed his diet and doing some home cooking for him which consist mostly of chicken, potatoes and carrots in a broth and he just loves it and its much better for him. Going to try him on the BLUE line of dog foods since they are preservative and grain free and hope they help to control this disease.

I have a 2 1/2 year old Redbone coonhound who we noticed as he got older that he was different than any other coonhound we had raised, and over the years there have been a large number, but Rowdy was different, he has an aggressive side to him and did not like to be bothered unless it was on his terms. We also noticed that when he would sit that he had what I would call tremors. Just recently he started to have seizures and now he is experiencing cluster seizures. He has to go into the vet so that other health problems can be ruled out, but I have had animals before with epileptic seizures and I can almost bet that is what my poor boy has. We will go on to notify the breeder once Epilepsy is diagnosed since it is genetic and and had to originate from someplace in the bloodlines. I feel so bad for my Rowdy, he is not even 3 years old and these types of seizures can kill him, I just pray we are able to get them under control and that his quality of life does not go down hill to drastically.

Here it is the end of July already, the summer is just going by so fast. Its been a hot dry summer for us here is PA., but there are states that are far worse than what we are with the drought situation. It has rained for the past week now just about on a daily basis, but most of the damage has been done already and especially to the corn crops…I really hate to see what it is going to do to food price’s, since just so many things depend on the corn industry, I guess I should count myself lucky that I don’t drink soda of any kind because those prices are going to sky rocket.
