Here’s a dark horse from Soul Jazz Records’ Future Bass releases, No Sleep by Randomer teaming up with newcomer Fife. Big forward-thinking bass vibes, you can buy it on digital of wax from the Soul Clap website.

I’m aware of posting relatively old music here, but seeing as I’m making up for lost time, this EP is one that has to get a post on this blog. Peter O’Grady’s first release under his new moniker ‘Joy O’ on Hotflush quickly became one of my favourite releases of the year. It’s simply a two-track EP of forward thinking house music of a crazy high standard. The 12″ artwork is also really understatedly beautiful. Definitely a must have on wax. If you don’t buy vinyl, at least pick it up on digital.

Last month Addison Groove’s new EP on Techtonic dropped, and it’s big. At 138 and 133 BPM, with lots of 808 kick, booty-style vocal samples, acid bleeps, and chicago drums, both sides are huge, and this is one EP that’s definitely worth picking up.

Something else I’m excited for is information about Addison’s huge remix of Martha & the Vandellas classic Jimmy Mack. I heard him play it first at BLOC, and it took the roof off. Eyes peeled for a quite white label release on this one.

Munchi’s new track, a remix of Damian Marley’s classic Welcome To Jamrock, is one of my favourite moombahton tracks of the recent past, maybe because it’s not regular moombahton. Anyway, it does justice to the original, and is well worth grabbing.

Jamie Woon’s long awaited album Mirrorwriting recently dropped, with a relatively positive reception. The two big singles, Night Air and Lady Luck had already been released prior to the album, but I was also pleasantly surprised by Spiral.

The whole album is well worth picking up, but if you’re looking for something more dancefloor friendly, I’d get up the Lady Luck EP; the Hudson Mohawke is one of my most played tunes of the last while.

I realise I’ve neglected this blog the past month. I was busy with college exams, and music production and promotion and a few things, but it’s all change now. I plan to get Forward/Slash back on track this summer, with more interviews, more guest mixes, new contributors, and most importantly, get it back to daily posts. I’ll let the new contributors introduce themselves, but they all have great taste in house and bass, and will be great. Now, to crack on with a backlog of music I have to post.

Big, jackin’ Chicago house. It’s hard not to like, and the Jam Factory remix of Ben Westbeech’s ‘Falling’ on Strictly Rhythm is no exception. I like it. A lot.

MK is one of the biggest names in house music, rolling out hit after hit throughout the 90s. So I was pretty happy to hear a new track of his was getting released, with a string of releases. It comes in the form of the Return To Me EP, released on a collaboration between Scion A/V and Rhonda International. The whole EP is full of goodnessm and you can grab a free 320 of the Goddollars remix over on xlr8r, but the standout remix for me is the Art of Tones Returning Dub. Look out for it on the EP.

Mowgli never seems to disappoint, so as you can imagine, his new EP is 2 big room bouncy house numbers. Straddling the sound between tech-house and the Deadfish pseudo-Electrohouse style perfectly, he delivers a huge EP, with the b-side as good, if not better than the A!
