I started this blog to develop a routine of dressing well, and taking more photographs. I have been failing horribly at it. Maybe with more focus and less time daydreaming, I will one day get off of my ass and start photographing my clothes and the things around me like I intended.

In the meantime, I wanted to introduce the world to my BCBG Ella shoes. I just had to get them when I was in Las Vegas a month ago. I couldn’t resist. I fell in love with these shoes when I saw the runway photos from the Spring 2009 show… and now they are mine. Suck on that, bitches.

Alice + Olivia dress, BCBG shoes. I don’t care about what everyone else is wearing. Wow, we do love the party photos.

I wish I had better photos. I will soon. I wish I didn’t stand pigeon-toed in that picture. I wish my legs didn’t look so damn short. The list continues. Damn, these shoes are sex.

I am almost ashamed to say that I have not been keeping up with indie music this year. I’ve been immersed in underground hip-hop and electronica. Most of the finds I come across are through remixes (i.e., Little Boots, Bat for Lashes, and the like), so imagine my excitement when my friend Caleb recommended Oh Land to me during one of my angry “I-need-to-listen-to-Fiona-Apple” days! If you take the best parts of Björk, Imogen Heap, Lykke Li, and Lily Allen (the cheerful music, not her lyrics and voice. Oh god no), molded them into some love foetus, you’d get Oh Land.

I love this track, “Heavy Eyes,” and “Numb” off of her debut album, Fauna. You should check her out.

I seriously can't see your other eye, woman.

I enjoy Lady Gaga. Her music is fun to dance to, and I love some of the shit she wears. I even like the fact that most days she doesn’t wear pants. She makes it okay to like the 80s and bring it back in full force.

But her nose drives me batshit insane. The combination of her nose + the (usually crooked) sunglasses + the bangs. But really, I’m really not one to talk, since I, too, have bangs and wear gi-huge-o sunglasses. But there’s a small difference between the two of us — the world doesn’t look at my face every damn second of every damn day. It’s not me being photographed being carried off by my entourage, drunk off of my ass, wearing my stupid big sunglasses, and tripping over my Louboutin pumps and having said pictures end up on every gossip website on the interwebs (just Facebook). And I have a reason for my bangs — I’m redoing my eyebrows. Then I’ll be growing this mother fucker out. I’m so done with trimming this shit every week and a half.

No, they didn’t join forces to do a track… yet. And I got lazy and didn’t want to make a graphic with both of them. I don’t have time for this Photoshop shit! Lies. I might also need your help. My mind and priorities have been in a million places, and this blog and my goals of building a lookbook have fallen to the bottom of my list. In addition to that, I have been horribly lazy and unstructured in terms of my wardrobe. Spring/Summer is coming faster than anticipated, and there are some awesome sales coming up that I haven’t really prepped for. Where is my closet going and what can I do to get it to where I want it to be?

In order to aide me in organizing my clothing thoughts, I’ve decided to jot down some key pieces that I want, think I might need, or think I need to get rid of…? Actually, it’s just a list.

a boyfriend blazer with an awesome lining (I have a navy cropped blazer that I love and a fitted black blazer, but I want a relaxed black blazer that I can throw on… I’m growing tired of my long black cardigan)
light denim shorts. relaxed. I think I will just cut up an old pair of Gap jeans for this. Or those skinny Hollister jeans that have been sitting in my drawer for three years.
Bracelets. I have a million bangles, pearls, and large beaded bracelets. I need more chained bracelets. Not charms, I’m not a fucking schoolgirl. Chains. Lots of them.
a black hobo purse. I love, love, LOVE my BRIGHT GREEN Marc by Marc Jacobs purse… maybe I’ll snag that in Black, as well.
maybe a slouchy purse with a long strap, too?
the perfect maxi dress. I’ve been searching for a year. Currently, I like this C&C California Summer Long Dress.
another pair of booties. Or just a pair of GREAT PUMPS. Black. Navy. Nude. Chocolate brown. Grey…?

sigh. I feel a little bit empty and unruly with this list. Is there anything I’m missing? Anything I need to change? What do you think? I have a lot of clothes as it is, do I really need more? (That’s a stupid question.)

Maybe I’m just feeling discombobulated in the midst of the wreck that is my (non-professional) life and seeking structure by the means of clothing.

The weekend of raspberry mojitos.

Yummy, yummy, in my tummy.

I think I have finally found my signature drink!!! I love mojitos, especially raspberry mojitos… They are always so refreshing and I don’t feel like I’m getting totally trashed. After this weekend, I realised I’ve ordered quite a few of them whenever I go out and always crave either this… or a Bloody Mary. I will make it my mission to find the best raspberry mojito in California. So far, I’ve tasted and documented the best raspberry mojito at WISH in the SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco.

My friends and I went to NOLA in Downtown Palo Alto, and it was delicious! You can read my rather poorly written review at yelp.com, if you wish (I blame the alcohol and sleep-deprivaiton). Everything was great — the drinks, the food, the ambiance, the people — and I would love to go there again! The bar gave my friend a complimentary blowjob shot, but we had a little accident, and I went through the rest of the night with a stained tank top. Sadness!

Wearing:

two-year-old Rubbish military jacket, two-year-old Express beads, various F21 rings, BDG tank, F21 high-waist pinstripe shorts, ripped (but you can’t tell) thigh-highs from Nordy’s, two-year-old Steve Madden boots. I am quite happy that I can still wear stuff from two years ago and still feel good about it. Some shit never goes out of style!

I haven’t gotten around to taking post-worthy pictures of the last two outfits I wore out, but whatever — I don’t really care. Maybe I’ll just wear them again. There’s nothing wrong with wearing the same outfit twice, so long as there is no photographic proof of it!!! Well, good photographic proof. I’m sure there are pictures of me in those outfits, but I just don’t want to acknowledge that they exist. (I also should think about adding some sort of lightbox-ish thing to this, what with all of these photos. One day, I will become unlazy and decide which JS Library I will use. I will also become more motivated and start writing about webdev things. One day.)

Victoria’s Secret disappears from my closet…

As popular as Victoria’s Secret bras are (and yes, I own a good number of them), there are some downsides to owning a VS bra.

They are cut for women whose breasts point straight forward. Most Asians and petite women have perky breasts, but, in addition to this, they most likely they don’t stand at attention facing your 12 o’clock. Sorry. It’s more like 11:05… using both hands of the clock. HA HA!
They never have my size. Don’t hate on the A Cups, VS. It hurts my pride and makes me feel little. In more ways than one.
There is formaldehyde in them.

Wait, what was that last one? Formaldehyde?! Yes, according to ABCNews.com, some women have reported getting “rashes, hives, and permanent scarring.” There have been enough claims that a class action lawsuit is being considered. Fancy that — the world’s most famous bras make me itch.

Personally, I haven’t had a problem with mine, but Item #1 on my list is enough to make me switch. What do I enjoy wearing? Wacoal. The padding on a VS bra is shit compared to Wacoal, which is fitted more accurately to the body of petite Asian women. I love my Wacoal bras. Plus they don’t give me rashes.
