Sticky, Tender Ribs With Big Flavor And Almost Zero Fuss

There are a lot of Asian ribs recipes on the internet that promise “fall off the bone” results, but then somehow deliver chewy ribs with burnt sauce and a sink full of dishes.

Not today. These Asian style pork ribs are baked low and slow until the meat is tender enough to pull cleanly from the bone, but they still have enough structure to eat like ribs instead of shredded pork. Then they get brushed with a gochujang honey BBQ sauce and finished under the broiler for those sticky, caramelized edges that are always the best bits.

All of this, and there’s no smoker or grill required, and no overnight marinade, either. Just really good ribs with a deeply savory rub, a spicy-sweet glaze, and the charred sticky bits that make every rib disappear the moment you serve them.

Heads up! You’ll want to make the sauce either before you get started, or while the ribs are in the oven. Here’s the recipe for the sauce:

Why You Will Love This Asian Pork Ribs Recipe

The low-and-slow oven method keeps these Asian spare ribs incredibly tender without drying them out.

Unlike a lot of Asian BBQ ribs recipes that rely entirely on sauce, these ribs have a well-seasoned dry rub underneath, so the meat itself truly tastes good all the way through.

This recipe is great for feeding a crowd because most of the cook time is completely hands-off. Perfect for game days, casual parties or summer dinners when you don’t want to babysit the grill.

The Gochujang BBQ Sauce You’ll Want On Everything

Use It Up! [Gochujang]

This recipe is part of our Use It Up! series, all about finishing half-used ingredients and reducing food waste.

If you bought gochujang to try Korean Meatballs and it’s lingered in your fridge ever since, this Gochujang BBQ sauce brushed on Asian Spare Ribs is what you should make next. The sauce uses 1/2 cup of gochujang, so you may even finish the rest of the tub!

A lot of homemade Asian BBQ sauce recipes fall into one of two camps. They’re either overwhelmingly salty, or they taste like somebody stirred soy sauce into ketchup and hoped for the best.

This gochujang BBQ sauce hits the sweet spot (pun intended) between sticky, spicy, savory and tangy. The honey smooths out the fermented chile flavor of the gochujang, while rice vinegar lightens the mood and keeps the sauce from feeling gloppy and heavy.

We’ve used this sauce on Grilled Chicken Wings, pork tenderloin, beef, salmon and even roasted vegetables. If dinner needs a little extra flavor, this sauce is ready for the job.

Why You Will Love This Asian BBQ Sauce

The flavor is nice and balanced. A lot of recipes lean too sweet or too salty, but this combination of gochujang, honey, soy sauce and rice vinegar is just right.

It thickens into a sticky glaze without needing a cornstarch slurry. The ketchup and honey naturally create a sort of lacquered BBQ texture.

It tastes like something you’d get from a really good Korean-inspired restaurant, but uses easy grocery store ingredients and comes together in about 10 minutes.

Crunchy Asian Noodle Salad With Peanut Dressing

Cold Asian noodle salad is one of those recipes that sounds delicious and practical until you take one bite of a bland, gummy bowl of noodles that somehow turned dry and soggy at the same time.

Not this one.

This Asian noodle salad recipe is packed with chewy soba noodles, crisp vegetables, roasted peanuts and a creamy peanut dressing with the perfect amount of lime, ginger and sriracha. It tastes fresh, bright and satisfying instead of heavy.

The real secret here is HOW it’s assembled. Instead of tossing everything together at once and hoping for the best, part of the dressing gets reserved and the vegetables are added just before serving. That keeps the noodles flavorful while the vegetables stay crisp and crunchy, even if you meal prep this chilled Asian noodle salad for several days.

It’s a refreshing salad making it a perfect choice for a hot day or whenever you need a satisfying but light meal.

Ideal for meal prep since it stays fresh for up to 4 days. You can even build it in jars for easy transport to a picnic or potluck.

Nutrient-rich, since it is packed with nutritious ingredients like edamame, bell pepper and carrots.

Country style ribs are one of the most underrated cuts in the meat department. They’re meaty, flavorful, forgiving to cook and usually way cheaper than baby back ribs.

Unlike traditional ribs, country style pork ribs actually come from the shoulder area near the blade end of the loin. That means they have more marbling and connective tissue, which is exactly why they become super tender when cooked low and slow in the oven.

This recipe keeps things easy. No smoker. No complicated sauce. No babysitting a grill for six hours. Just dry rub, foil, barbecue sauce and time.

The foil-covered bake is what makes these country ribs in oven turn out so tender. The covered portion gently traps moisture while the connective tissue slowly melts down. Then the final uncovered bake caramelizes the sauce and gives everything that sticky barbecue finish.

They’re hearty, affordable and hard to mess up.

Why You Will Love Country Style Ribs In Oven

The low-and-slow oven method creates juicy, fork-tender ribs without needing a smoker or grill.

Country pork ribs are usually much more affordable than baby back ribs, making this recipe great for feeding a family without spending a fortune.

Covering the ribs tightly with foil for the first part of cooking prevents them from drying out while giving the connective tissue time to break down properly.

These Dr. Pepper Baked Beans Are The Cookout Side Dish You’ll Make On Repeat

Some baked beans recipes swing way too sweet. Others take 14 hours and require soaking dried beans overnight like you’re living in colonial times.

These oven baked beans with bacon land squarely in the middle, which is exactly where we want our baked beans to be.

We’re starting with canned Great Northern beans for convenience, but building a homemade sauce with bacon drippings, molasses, Worcestershire, mustard and Dr. Pepper for that classic sticky, smoky-sweet baked bean flavor. Simmering everything before it goes into the oven concentrates the sauce so this great side dish bakes up thick and glossy instead of watery.

The final splash of Dr. Pepper at the end is the little trick that makes these extra good.

—Sarah

The Goat Cheese Pasta Salad That Gets Better In The Fridge

You know how a lot of pasta salads start out creamy and delicious, then turn dry and kind of sad after a few hours in the refrigerator? This one doesn’t.

The difference comes down to technique. Instead of stirring crumbled goat cheese into cold pasta and hoping for the best, we use hot pasta water to emulsify some of the goat cheese into a smooth, tangy dressing that actually clings to the noodles (and then we add even more crumbled goat cheese later). We also reserve part of the dressing and toss it in right before serving so the salad stays creamy instead of soaking everything up overnight.

This pasta salad with goat cheese lands somewhere between a cookout side dish and a light summer dinner. The arugula keeps it fresh, the pistachios add crunch, and the sundried tomatoes bring a concentrated savory sweetness that works so well with tangy goat cheese.

And yes, this absolutely counts as meal prep if you’re the kind of person who needs a workweek lunch that isn’t another turkey sandwich.

Why You’ll Love This Pasta Salad With Goat Cheese

The goat cheese melts into the dressing, which gives every bite a rich texture without needing mayo.

Reserving part of the dressing for the end keeps the pasta salad from drying out in the refrigerator, which is one of the biggest problems with make-ahead pasta salads.

Arugula, pistachios and sundried tomatoes give this lemon arugula pasta salad a lot more texture and flavor contrast than most one-note pasta salads.

Apple Cider Vinegar Coleslaw That Gets The Balance Right

There are two types of coleslaw that tend to disappoint.

The super creamy kind that feels heavy after two bites, and the vinegar-heavy version that’s so sharp it kind of takes over your whole plate.

This apple cider vinegar coleslaw lands right in the middle. It’s creamy enough to coat every bite, but still bright and tangy thanks to a slightly higher ratio of cider vinegar. Shredded apple adds a little natural sweetness and crunch, which helps balance the acidity without making it taste sugary.

This is one of our favorite Side Dishes For Ribs, but it also works well piled onto pulled pork sandwiches or next to Oven Baked Brisket.

Why You’ll Love This Apple Coleslaw Recipe

It’s balanced and not overpowering. The dressing has enough vinegar to taste bright, but enough creaminess to keep it smooth.

It stays crisp. The ratio and quick chill time keep the cabbage from turning watery.

It has more flavor than most slaws. Apple, celery seed, and dry mustard add layers you don’t usually get in basic recipes.

Lemon Herb Potato Salad With Big Flavor, No Mayo Needed

If you’ve ever made a potato salad without mayo and thought, “well, that’s . . . fine,” this is the version we’re begging you to give a try.

This no mayo potato salad recipe is bright, herby, and designed to have big flavor, not just look like the “lighter option” on a picnic table. It uses a lemony vinaigrette that soaks into the potatoes while they’re still warm, so every bite is seasoned all the way through, not just coated on the outside.

It’s the kind of side dish you bring to a summer cookout and don’t have to worry about it sitting out for a little bit. And there’s no heavy, gloppy texture; just clean, zesty flavor that works cold or at room temperature.

Why You Will Love This No Mayo Potato Salad Recipe

The dressing absorbs into the potatoes. Tossing them while warm means flavor goes inside, not just on the surface.

You can make it in advance but it will taste like it’s freshly made, thanks to the two-step dressing technique.

Ideal for backyard barbecues and parties. It holds up at room temperature, and is outdoor safe for longer than a mayonnaise-based potato salad.

It’s vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free, so it works for folks with some dietary restrictions.

What To Do With Leftover Cornbread (Besides Letting It Sit On The Counter)

Use It Up! [Leftover Cornbread]

This recipe is part of our Use It Up! series, all about finishing half-used ingredients and reducing food waste.

If you’ve got leftover cornbread from dinner or a holiday meal, this breakfast bake is the perfect next move. It turns those slightly dry pieces into a rich, savory casserole that feels like a completely new dish, not just repurposed leftovers.

If you’ve got leftover cornbread sitting around, this is one of the best ways to use it. Even if you don’t, it might be worth making a batch of Honey Cornbread and just pretending it’s leftovers.

This cornbread breakfast bake is a savory casserole made with sausage, eggs, cheese, and chunks of cornbread that soak up a creamy custard as it bakes. The result is soft and tender in the center, lightly golden on top, and sturdy enough to slice into clean squares.

The custard is rich without being heavy, the sausage adds just enough meaty flavor, and the cornbread holds its structure instead of turning mushy. Once you make it once, it’s the kind of recipe you’ll keep in rotation for holidays, brunch, or a make-ahead weekday breakfast.

The correct custard ratio means the casserole sets properly and slices cleanly.

Slightly stale cornbread absorbs flavor without falling apart, giving you the best texture.

It can be made ahead and reheated, which makes it perfect for busy mornings, meal prep or hosting.

These Blackberry Muffins Taste Like They Came From A Bakery

These blackberry muffins are made from scratch with buttermilk, two extracts, fresh orange zest, and a sparkling sugar top that gives them that crunch you only usually get at a good bakery. They work with fresh or frozen blackberries, and they are genuinely the kind of muffin that makes people ask for the recipe.

The secret is layering flavor beyond just vanilla. A splash of almond extract and a hit of orange zest do something to blackberries that you really have to taste to understand. Buttermilk keeps the crumb tender. And that optional-but-please-try-it sparkling sugar on top? That’s the thing that makes these look like you paid $5 for them at a coffee shop.

If you’ve ever made homemade muffins and wondered why they tasted “fine” but not bakery-good, this recipe fixes that.

Why You’ll Love This Blackberry Muffin Recipe

The flavor is genuinely different from other muffin recipes because of the almond extract and orange zest combo. It’s the flavor profile you get from a real bakery, not a box mix, and it’s easy to pull off at home.

Buttermilk does the heavy lifting for texture. It breaks down gluten and keeps the crumb tender without making the muffin dense or gummy.

Fresh or frozen blackberries both work, which means making a batch is a year-round option, not just a summer one.
