Dean Martin's brutal one-word response to young John Stamos changed his life forever

John Stamos wanted advice from the King of Cool — and got an answer he never forgot.

The "Full House" alum got his big break on television as Blackie Parrish on "General Hospital" from 1982 to 1984. But by the end of his run, Stamos was determined to leave the soap opera world behind and prove he was capable of much more.

"When I was leaving ‘General Hospital,’ Gloria Monty, who was the producer, she didn’t want me to go, and I wanted to be funny," the actor recalled in an archival clip from Joseph Sibilia’s "Friars Club Podcast," which was recently re-broadcast on "Nostalgia Tonight with Joe Sibilia."

"I wanted to be on a sitcom, like a Garry Marshall show," said Stamos, now 62. "And she took me out to [famed restaurant] Le Dome here in Hollywood to try to convince me to stay on the show."

Stamos described himself as "a very innocent kid" who "loved" the series but was eager to show off his comedic chops.

"She was like, ‘Well, why do you want to leave my show, dear?’" Stamos recalled. "And I said, ‘Well, Gloria, I want to be funny.’ She’s like, ‘You want to be funny.’"

During their conversation, Monty spotted Dean Martin eating alone. She brought Stamos over and introduced him to Martin.

"She said, 'Mr. Martin, this is the star of my show, 'General Hospital.' And he wants to leave the show. He wants to be funny. Now, will you tell him about loyalty and about sticking where you're at?'" said Stamos.

"He was pretty old by this time, and he was sitting by himself," said Stamos. "That was a trick of his. He would have a table set for two, but nobody was coming [for] the other [seat]. He just liked to be alone."

"She said, ‘Tell him not to leave, Mr. Martin.’ And he looked at me, and he said, ‘Run.’"

Stamos ended up moving on to the CBS sitcom "Dreams" in 1984. Then, from 1986 to 1987, he starred in the NBC sitcom "You Again?" before landing on "Full House" later that year. He played Jesse Katsopolis in the series until 1995 and then reprised the role on "Fuller House" from 2016 to 2020.

Back in 2019, Martin's daughter, Deana Martin, told Fox News Digital that in his later years, her father preferred enjoying his own company while out in Hollywood.

"He would go out to dinner every night, and he had two restaurants," Deana recalled at the time. "He would go to La Familia every night, but on Sunday nights he would go to The Hamburger Hamlet. He would always sit at the same table and in the same chair. He didn't really want people to be with him. He didn't want to have a lot of people around him. But wherever he went, everybody wanted to talk to him."

"My husband and I would call him and say, 'Dad, do you want us to come have dinner with you tonight?'" she said. "And he'd say, 'Well, sure, just no chit-chat.' He'd say, 'I don't mind the chit, it's the chat.' He just wanted it to be quiet, but he was perfectly happy being alone at a restaurant, sitting at his table."

Martin died on Christmas Day 1995. He was 78.

We're going to get Screencaps started on this fine Sunday morning with Italian soccer reporter Giusy Meloni. She is not in America covering the World Cup, but that doesn’t mean she's not providing coverage for an important event. She is.

I’ve said this many times before, and I’ll say it again, I’m not a fan of the on-field action in the sport of soccer. I’m not going to fake it every four years for the World Cup either. I’m not interested at all.

The scandals off the field, the viral moments in the stands with fans (both real and fake) and the elite talent covering the sport are a different story. That’s entertainment and that’s some of the best around.

That takes us back to Giusy Meloni. With Italy not in action and her not receiving a call similar to the one Eleonara Incardona received to cover the World Cup, she's been forced to cover her own vacation.

Her coverage from a lakeside luxury hotel drives home the call made by Joe last spring to TV networks. A call that said she needs to be covering sports in the United States for a living.

So far, that call hasn’t been answered. But this Italian actress turned sports reporter doesn’t seem too concerned with what should be. She's focused on what actually is, and that's how a bikini vacation ends up being more important than the World Cup.

The New York Knicks and Timothee Chalamet are NBA champions. They ended their franchise's 53-year championship drought on Saturday night in San Antonio with a 94-90 Game 5 win.

Real Knicks fans like Chalamet made the trip to Texas to watch the Spurs blow another game and watch Jalen Brunson drop 45 points to make sure there wasn’t a Game 6 in person.

There was no Taylor Swift in a corny T-shirt sighting. Just Wemby and company losing yet another game that they had jumped out to a lead in. They've perfected that as a team.

The Spurs incredible ability to blow leads shouldn’t overshadow what the Knicks did. They were truly a team of destiny. The fake fans didn't slow them and no lead was safe.

The Knicks know who didn’t jump on the bandwagon when they started winning too. They know who was there when the games didn’t have as much attention on them as the Finals.

Timothee Chalamet celebrating a championship in the locker room with the Knicks is exactly how he saw this playing out. I think I saw him on a private jet or something too. This guy just might end up with a well-deserved ring when all is said and done.

These are great, as they always are. It's a much bigger pain in the ass uploading images since OutKick was integrated into FOX News, but these were well worth the trouble. There's meat, a ton of meat, and some of the best scenery around. Montana Tim, you nailed it once again.

California gardens are a different beast than most anywhere else. Not much rain, but plenty of sunshine, and rarely a frost advisory to fear.

So we can start planting whenever, harvest throughout the year, tear out and start over at will.

When we bought this place 17 years ago, the back yard was plain dirt. We rototilled and laid down a sprinkler system, and grew a gorgeous lawn. Then the drought hit, water was rationed (and very expensive), and we turned the irrigation off and it went back to plain dirt.

Over the last year, my wife has been building the back yard into a garden - and we were able to host the graduation party of our youngest there this week.

It's not where we want it to be just yet, but it's getting closer.

Also: good lighting is cheaper than good landscaping - hiding the blemishes.

It looks great, Jim. I had a similar situation in my backyard with the grass and a lack of rain nearly wiping it all out. We tried sod, which eventually failed, and now I'm doing my best to get the Bermuda grass from the front to migrate to the back. It's a process, a slow one, but it has been making some progress. We added some seed to the mix this year, and again, slow, but progress is being made.

From Wasserman Schultz to Goldman, Democratic incumbents are fighting for survival

As Democrats seek to reclaim power in November's midterm elections, some of the party's long-standing progressives are in danger of losing their seats.

The warning signs are flashing red in hotly contested primaries across the country, from a longtime ally of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who is facing a challenger four decades younger, to a senior New York lawmaker seeking to fend off a Mamdani-backed opponent.

Not every race has a clear ideological divide, but every challenger is running on an anti-establishment message. Some are also advocating for generational change.

NY DEM WOULDN’T BACK MAMDANI FOR MAYOR — NOW MAMDANI IS BACKING HIS CHALLENGER

Though sitting lawmakers are historically difficult to defeat, a wave of anti-incumbent fever appears to be taking hold among voters. Four incumbents — including Reps. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, and Thomas Massie, R-Ky. — have already lost their re-election bids to primary challengers this cycle.

The following are the progressive lawmakers who could be next.

Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., 50, a prominent Trump foe who served as Democrats' lead counsel during President Donald Trump's first impeachment trial, is running as an endangered incumbent in a Democratic-heavy district spanning Lower Manhattan and deep-blue pockets of Brooklyn.

Former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, 56, who has the backing of Mamdani and leading progressives in Congress, is mounting an insurgent campaign from Goldman’s left. Leading progressive Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and the left-wing Working Families Party are also supporting his candidacy.

Goldman's endorsements from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., and Gov. Kathy Hochul, D-N.Y., may not be enough to secure a third House term. Recent polling of the race shows Lander carving out a significant lead despite Goldman, who is one of the wealthiest members of Congress, outspending the progressive challenger.

Though Goldman has faced attacks from the left, he is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC). He has also supported a bevy of far-left proposals, including the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Green New Deal legislation and Medicare-for-all. If Democrats retake power in November, he’s vowing to help lead a third impeachment of Trump.

But Israel has become a key fault line in the contest. Lander has sharply criticized the incumbent's ties to the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC and his votes to supply Israel with military aid.

Lander has also labeled Israel's war in Gaza a "genocide" — a term Goldman has distanced himself from. Both men are Jewish.

Mamdani is also seeking to flex his political muscle in another hotly contested New York City primary that could end the career of a senior progressive lawmaker.

Rep. Adriano Espaillat, D-N.Y., the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, is facing a serious challenge from upstart candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier, a socialist and activist who joined Columbia University's pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

MAMDANI STANDS BY FELLOW SOCIALIST CANDIDATE DESPITE RESURFACED FAR-LEFT, ANTI-AMERICAN POSTS

Mamdani threw a wrench into Espaillat's re-election bid when he made the surprise decision to endorse Avila Chevalier, 32, just weeks before the primary. The move has led to fierce backlash from some of the party’s establishment, who alleged that Mamdani privately pledged to Espaillat that he would support his bid for a sixth House term, multiple outlets reported.

Espaillat, 71, is seeking to fend off a challenge from his left flank despite membership in the Congressional Progressive Caucus and his support for ICE's dismantlement. He has also touted his background as the first former illegal immigrant elected to Congress.

Avila Chevalier has sparked controversy over since-deleted social media posts in which she voiced support for open borders, abolishing the police and called former President Joe Biden a "rapist," according to CNN.

The deep-blue district covering parts of Upper Manhattan and the West Bronx is a progressive stronghold that swung hard for Mamdani's mayoral campaign last year. Espaillat notably did not endorse Mamdani's campaign until after his primary win over former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y.

Jeffries, who represents a neighboring Brooklyn district, has vowed to help give Espaillat a sixth House term.

"Adriano Espaillat has been a tremendous leader," Jeffries told CNN on Tuesday. "He's leading in terms of battling Donald Trump."

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., a junior member of House Democratic leadership, is gearing up for a tough re-election fight after Republicans carved up her deep-blue seat during redistricting earlier this year.

The 11-term incumbent sparked controversy after filing to run in a plurality-Black district that has been represented by a Black lawmaker for more than three decades.

She is expected to face four Black opponents ahead of the August primary, including former Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, D-Fla., who is making a long-shot run for the seat after resigning amid an expulsion threat earlier this year. Cherfilus-McCormick is also facing a pending federal criminal indictment over alleged financial crimes that could result in more than 50 years in prison if convicted.

BIG LOSS FOR DEMOCRAT WHO WANTED ‘ZIONISTS’ IN CAMPS MAY STILL SIGNAL BIG TROUBLE ON HORIZON

Local Black leaders publicly urged Wasserman Schultz to run for a different seat, but she moved forward with seeking the Democratic nomination in Florida’s 20th Congressional District.

While the four Black candidates have reportedly met to discuss unifying behind one individual to take on Wasserman Schultz, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., has thus far declined to bail her out.

The leading Democrat has repeatedly stopped short of offering his endorsement when asked by reporters, despite his long track record of backing incumbents. Jeffries has issued effusive praise for Wasserman Schultz’s record in Congress but signaled his concern that the incumbent’s victory could potentially decrease Black representation in Congress.

"I think we all recognize the sensitivities of the moment in terms of an unprecedented Jim Crow-like assault on Black political representation that has been unleashed by the Supreme Court's outrageous decision to gut the Voting Rights Act," Jeffries said during a news conference earlier in June when asked about Wasserman Schultz’s candidacy. "And it's an environment that all of us need to be sensitive to as we move forward."

HOUSE DEMOCRATS' CAMPAIGN ARM DRAWS PROGRESSIVE FURY FOR TRYING TO 'TIP THE SCALES' IN KEY HOUSE PRIMARY

Rep. Doris Matsui, D-Calif., advanced to November’s general election after surviving California’s top-two primary system last week, but her leftist challenger received a higher share of the vote.

Mai Vang, 41, a progressive Sacramento city councilmember campaigning on generational change, is seeking to unseat Matsui, 81, who is twice her age. As of Thursday, Vang outperformed Matsui by one percentage point in the primary contest.

The Democratic candidates will face off for the Democratic-leaning district in November after shutting out the single Republican in the race.

Matsui has represented the Sacramento-anchored district for more than two decades and has never faced a serious primary challenger prior to Vang. Her husband, Robert Matsui, previously represented the seat for roughly 25 years prior to his death in 2005.

Matsui has long allied herself with Pelosi, who endorsed her reelection campaign for a 12th House term. She has also donated to her campaign.

Vang is endorsed by the progressive, anti-incumbent organization Justice Democrats and Our Revolution, a group formed by Sanders staffers after his failed 2016 presidential campaign.

She faced scrutiny during the primary contest after videos surfaced of her refusing to face the American flag and say the Pledge of Allegiance during city council meetings.

Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, one of Trump's most vocal critics in Congress, lost his bid for a 12th House term in May.

Green, 78, came up short in a Democratic primary runoff election for a Houston-area district against Rep. Christian Menefee, D-Texas, 38. The two incumbents faced off for a Democratic-heavy district after Republicans' redistricting efforts effectively forced both men to compete for the same seat.

Menefee, who was first elected to Congress in February, is seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party and ran on a message of new leadership.

Green faced widespread backlash over disrupting Trump's addresses to Congress two years in a row. After his outburst toward the president during a 2025 speech, Green was formally censured by Congress in a bipartisan vote.

Green has also repeatedly tried to impeach Trump. His most recent impeachment attempts since Trump retook office in 2025 were scuttled in part by Democratic opposition.

Trump mocked Green after his primary loss in a post on Truth Social.

"Congratulations to the Dumocrat Party!" Trump wrote. "Al Green, one of the most mentally deficient Congressmen in the history of our Country, has lost, in a landslide, his seat in Congress — but I will miss that lunatic not screaming and violently waving his cane at me during my next State of the Union Speech."

Cruise tipping charges are 'out of control,' say passengers as companies tout 'exceptional service'

Cruise passengers are getting hit with a familiar vacation surprise: the bill that keeps growing after they book.

Daily gratuities, drink-package service charges, specialty dining fees and other automatic add-ons have become a flashpoint for travelers who say cruise vacations are being advertised one way, yet priced another.

Frustration is said to be mounting as several cruise lines have raised their gratuity or service charges in 2026.

Holland America Line is the latest cruise line to change its gratuity structure.

As of June 1, guests onboard Holland America ships will pay daily "crew appreciation" charges of $18 per day for non-suite stateroom guests and $20 per day for suites.

"Crew Appreciation is a meaningful way for guests to recognize the exceptional service and hard work our crew provides every day," a Holland America spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

The company says the gratuity is automatically added to each guest’s onboard account.

Guests who want to change the daily amount may adjust it at their discretion while onboard, the cruise line notes.

In addition, an 18% service charge is automatically applied to select purchases, including beverage items, bar retail items, specialty restaurant cover charges, for-purchase à la carte menu items, and spa and salon services.

The charges are subject to change without notice, the company says, and guests are told to contact customer service for up-to-date details before sailing.

Regarding the "crew appreciation" fees, the Holland America spokesperson said that "100% goes directly to our shipboard team" and that the charge is "in line with the cruise industry competitive standards."

MSC Cruises also recently updated its daily service charge.

"We can confirm that MSC Cruises updated its daily hotel service charge for new bookings made on or after May 11, 2026," an MSC Cruises spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

CHAIR-HOGGING WARS HEAT UP AS CRUISE TRAVELERS USE SNEAKY TACTICS AMID CRACKDOWNS

The change raises the charge by $1 per person per night for standard staterooms on Caribbean and Alaska sailings, bringing the rate to $17. Guests at the MSC Yacht Club will see a higher increase, with $23 per person per night, the company said.

"This update supports our dedicated crew members who deliver the exceptional onboard experience our guests expect," the spokesperson said.

Carnival Cruise Line also raised its gratuities earlier this spring.

That brought Carnival’s daily gratuities to $17 for standard staterooms and $19 for suites.

Carnival increased the price of a popular onboard package the same day.

The adult price for Bottomless Bubbles went up to $11.99 per day from $9.50 per day.

A 20% service charge applies, according to the company's website.

"Our shipboard team members work hard to provide exceptional service," a spokesperson said. "We believe our guests will agree this slight increase is well-deserved."

Carnival said guests still have some control over the charge.

While gratuities are automatically added to guests’ shipboard accounts, the amount can be adjusted on board at the guest’s request, the spokesperson said.

Cruise lines have long relied on automatic gratuities. But in recent years, tipping fatigue has crept in across restaurants, coffee shops and other venues, especially those that use self-checkout screens.

On Reddit’s cruise forums earlier this year, travelers complained about extra gratuities.

"I honestly feel the gratuity thing is going out of control," one poster wrote.

Another user responded, "Gratuity everywhere is out of control. At self-checkouts, the machine asks for a tip. For who, exactly? The only correct answer is to tap ‘0%.'"

A third said, "I just wish they'd pay the staff decently and include that in the fare. I hate tipping culture."

The debate spilled onto Facebook as well.

In one Facebook group, a cruiser argued that companies should be more upfront about the full cost of a trip.

"I think they don't include [specific item charges] to keep advertised prices looking lower," the user wrote.

NASHVILLE- Since being crowned winner on "American Idol" in 2006, Taylor Hicks has cemented his status as a beloved entertainer. From sold-out shows and a successful Las Vegas residency to television hosting and Broadway appearances, the Birmingham, Alabama-native has remained steadfastly grounded. He credits his humbleness to two things: his blue-collar roots and faith.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, the 49-year-old — who was dubbed the "Soul Patrol" leader during his run on the singing competition show 20 years ago — spoke about how his hometown has helped him navigate Hollywood's ups and downs and shared what makes him happiest these days.

"[Birmingham] is a blue-collar town. You know, I think it would be kind of like growing up in Pittsburgh or something," said Hicks. "So, you know, Boston, which I love to go there and perform because I got a pretty big constituency in blue-collar towns. I think it's a testament to the people that live there, the hard work, my family ... I had a really, really good, hardworking base of Birmingham folks that I love, and I still get to see."

"It's been a whirlwind since my win in show business," he recently told People. "I mean, I'm coming up on almost 23 or 24 years in show business, and I wouldn't trade it for the world."

"Luckily for me, 'American Idol' was the only game in town," Hicks told Fox News Digital. "I think the last talent show that was on television was 'Star Search.' And once 'Idol' became so successful, I think 'America's Got Talent,' 'So You Think You Can Dance.' There's all these entities that kind of popped up that you really have to compete for now. So I think it is tougher for contestants on shows like that, because they're kind of spreading the love."

Regardless, Hicks could not be more grateful for where his time on the show led him.

"The first thing that I would tell myself right when I won 'American Idol' is enjoy the wave as much as you can because in this business, sooner or later, it's going to crash, and you've got to catch another one."

It’s safe to say that Jalen Brunson’s sister kept the receipts.

Jalen Brunson proved all of the naysayers and critics wrong. He led the Knicks to the No. 3 seed in the playoffs after a 53-29 regular season. New York moved through the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers to get a shot at the title against the Spurs.

The basketball world likely thought it was going to be a Victor Wembanyama moment. The 7-foot-6 player is only 22 and a title would have strapped a rocket to his back in terms of stardom. Instead, he was left with his tail between his legs and claimed that the Spurs actually dominated the series despite blowing leads in all four of their losses.

Regardless, Brunson was named NBA Finals MVP and has been dubbed one of the greatest Knicks players of all time.

Lawsuit alleges soccer coach benched teen who was injured by teammate for alleged racial slur

FIRST ON FOX: A New York family has filed a lawsuit against a Christian school, the Archdiocese of New York and a former soccer coach, alleging that their teenage son was injured after school officials failed to supervise students before a high school athletic event.

The lawsuit also included allegations that the student who was injured was the one who was punished, for allegedly using a racial slur.

The complaint, filed in New York Supreme Court in Dutchess County, was brought by S.O. on behalf of his minor child, L.O., a student and soccer player at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie. The suit names the school, the Archdiocese of New York and a former coach as defendants.

According to the complaint, the case stems from a Sept. 19, 2025, alleged. incident involving L.O. and another member of the school’s soccer team. The complaint alleges the teammate grabbed L.O. and slammed him onto a patch of concrete, causing abrasions to his arm, back and hip, and the coach was not present during the incident.

After the incident, the coach allegedly questioned the team but did not speak with L.O. outside the presence of the other player, according to the complaint. The filing says the coach focused on L.O.’s statement that, if he was a "camel," the other player was an "ape," which the coach allegedly interpreted as a racial slur. The coach then allegedly ordered L.O. to turn his jersey inside out and benched him for the rest of warmups and the game.

The complaint alleges that the coach did not assess L.O. for injuries or ask whether he was okay, despite being told that he had been hurt.

The coach was later terminated by the school, according to multiple reports.

The filing says L.O. and his parents did not request Cancro’s termination and alleges that the decision was made solely by the school and/or the Archdiocese.

The lawsuit further alleges that, after Cancro’s termination, L.O. and his parents became the target of hostility from team members, parents and coaches.

The lawsuit asserts one cause of action: negligent supervision. It alleges that the school, Archdiocese and Cancro had a duty to supervise students during the athletic event and breached that duty by failing to ensure an adult was present before and during the altercation.

The family seeks damages for physical injuries, emotional distress, psychological harm, humiliation, property damage and other monetary losses, along with costs and other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

The allegations have not been proven in court.

The attorney representing the plaintiffs, Kimberly Lau of the firm Offit Kurman, has provided a statement to Fox News Digital.

"Context matters. A child was hurt on school grounds during a time when supervision was required. We hope that the school can work with the family to restore a positive school environment for him and ensure all students are protected in the future," Lau said.

Fox News Digital reached out to Our Lady of Lourdes High School and the Archdiocese of New York.

Victor Wembanyama may want one of his postgame comments back after his San Antonio Spurs squandered yet another lead in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, as the New York Knicks won their first NBA title since 1973.

During his postgame press conference following the Knicks' 94-90 win in San Antonio on Saturday, Wembanyama was asked what he learned during his team's 4-1 series loss, specifically how difficult it is to win an NBA title.

While Wembanyama's answer started just fine, with him addressing the margin of error being extremely small, he went on to make a claim about the Spurs dominating that he probably could have kept to himself.

"One of the many things I learned was that the margin of error is very, very thin," Wembanyama explained. "Our domination stints are absolute. We absolutely dominated for most of the series, but our errors, our mistakes, are punished so hard that we can't have ups and downs like this so much."

The Spurs held at least a 12-point lead in each of the five games of the series, with Game 3 being the lone contest they were able to take against New York.

While the Knicks clinched the series in Game 5, it was Game 4 that the NBA world will remember forever, and the one you can't help but circle as the moment New York grabbed a complete stranglehold of the series.

The Spurs jumped out to a 29-point lead in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden before turning into a shell of themselves, somehow managing to give up the massive lead and hand the Knicks the largest comeback in NBA Finals history.

Following the Game 4 collapse from San Antonio, many guaranteed that the series was already over, and those people were proven right on Saturday night with the Knicks ending a 53-year drought and hoisting the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

The New York Knicks are still celebrating and the East Coast could see another celebration here if they get their team to close out the Stanley Cup Final. The NBA and NHL have both put on great shows and I am not ready for them to be over. Let's see if we can get some cash in the NHL before it closes out.

The Carolina Hurricanes are knocking on the door. They have it cracked open, and maybe even slightly pushed down. The question is if they can push it all the way down. In a zig-zag series, the Hurricanes zagged when it was due to zig, and they won Game 5 at home, giving themselves a 3-2 lead heading into Game 6. No one wants to play a Game 7, but at least they get another shot at this if they are to fail.

The team switched up their goalie, and it seems to have made the difference. Brandon Bussi came in during Game 4 and has allowed five goals over two games. It is a bit sad for Frederik Andersen who led them here, but you're trying to win games, not salvage feelings. In Game 5, the Hurricanes were clearly better and they used a two-goal second period in order to comfortably win the game.

The Vegas Golden Knights have their backs against the wall. This is the first time all playoffs that they've faced elimination as they were able to win their first two series in six games. Then, when they played the Avalanche, they swept Colorado out of the playoffs. It is hard to know how a team will respond to adversity when they haven't faced it in the playoffs, but Vegas is certainly equipped with enough talent to get the job done.

I am most curious about what they do at goalie. Carter Hart hasn't been terrible by any means, but the Hurricanes aren't struggling against him, either. Hart allowed four goals in the last game, and that puts him at four goals or more allowed in all five games. That's not going to get the job done. Personally, I think they need to take a shot at changing just to give Carolina something different to look at or consider.

It isn't easy to go away from your goalie, and often the team that makes the changes is the one that gets rewarded. In this series, the Hurricanes are the ones that made the change and they have been rewarded. Good for them. Vegas might be too late, because I'm not sure they want to change goalies in an elimination game.

Tonight, we go back to the well. We've cashed a ton of tickets on the over in this series and we are going to play it again, but this time we are playing under 6.5. I think this is one that is going to be a bit more conservative from Vegas. Carolina should still be aggressive, but I think Vegas will give more help on defense and try to pick spots on offense. Give me the under 6.5.

Around the marbled halls and chambers, the final weeks of June are often known as "flood season," the annual rush to complete opinions before the justices leave Washington for their summer recess. The nine justices and their law clerks are on tight, self-imposed deadlines to write and circulate final drafts of opinions in cases big and small.

This year, 23 cases remain unresolved after the court heard arguments in nearly 60 disputes during the term. Among them are four appeals involving executive actions by Trump, two election-related disputes and separate questions involving gun rights and transgender rights.

Several of the remaining disputes share a common thread: how much power a president can exercise over federal policy and the executive branch. The rulings could significantly affect Trump’s ability to advance his second-term agenda, particularly on immigration and government oversight, while further defining the boundaries between the White House, Congress and the courts.

Arguably the most closely watched Supreme Court case remaining to be decided, this challenge centers on President Trump's Executive Order 14160, an effort to limit automatic citizenship for children born to parents who entered the country illegally.

The case could define the limits of presidential power by determining whether a president can change a longstanding interpretation of citizenship law without Congress.

Trump made history by personally attending oral arguments in March, becoming the first sitting president to do so — but that did not seem to matter.

The Supreme Court openly pushed back against the administration's sweeping efforts to restrict who can be called an American, expressing varying levels of skepticism about the claim a citizenship "privilege" has been historically abused and wrongly granted to those whose parents were in the country illegally or temporarily.

A ruling against Trump would affirm the longstanding legal, political and social consensus supporting the idea of granting automatic citizenship to all babies born in the country, regardless of their parents' immigration or temporary visitor status.

In Trump v. Cook, the justices are weighing whether Trump can dismiss Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.

Based on January's oral arguments, the court appears ready to give President Trump one of his biggest legal setbacks in office, offering strong support for Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook remaining in her leadership position — at least for now.

The questions of presidential power deal with whether Trump has broad unilateral executive authority to fire someone from the central bank, despite its special status as a stand-alone federal agency.

In arguments, most on the court seemed skeptical of Trump's actions.

"That's your position that there's no judicial review, no process required, no remedy available?" Justice Brett Kavanaugh told the Justice Department's Solicitor General D. John Sauer. "Very low bar for 'cause' that the president alone determines? I mean, that would weaken, if not shatter, the independence of the Federal Reserve."

But a separate case involving presidential firing authority, Trump v. Slaughter, could have even broader implications. Former Federal Trade Commission Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter is challenging her removal from the agency, setting up a direct test of a 1935 Supreme Court precedent set in Humphrey's Executor v. United States that limits a president’s ability to fire members of independent regulatory commissions except only for "cause."

A ruling favoring the administration could strengthen presidential control over agencies that regulate everything from communications and consumer safety to labor policy and financial markets, and a ruling in Slaughter's favor could greatly restrict the president's powers.

At issue is a federal law that caps coordinated spending between political parties and candidates running for Congress and the White House.

The high court in recent years, led by Chief Justice John Roberts, has tossed aside congressionally enacted federal campaign spending limits.

At issue is a Mississippi law allowing election officials to count mail-in ballots received after Election Day, provided they were mailed on time.

Mississippi is one of about 14 states, the District of Columbia and three territories that permit a grace period ranging from one day to several weeks during which regular ballots can be counted, so long as those ballots are postmarked on or before Election Day.

That is currently the case in California, where final results from the June 2 election may not be known for another couple of weeks or more.

The justices are deciding whether federal Election Day statutes preempt various state laws and may clarify exactly what "the election" means when it comes to the casting and receipt of ballots.

The outcome could rest with Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who could cast the deciding votes.

The court is also considering a pair of cases involving transgender athletes and school sports. In Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J., the justices are weighing whether state laws that restrict transgender girls and women from competing on female athletic teams violate the Constitution's Equal Protection Clause or federal protections under Title IX.

Almost 30 states have laws limiting participation for transgender females who were designated male at birth, in both public school and college athletics, and officials say their restrictions are a matter of ensuring a level playing field and student safety.

But lawyers for a high school sophomore and a college senior counter those prohibitions are clearly discriminatory, and that the issues should be about equality and dignity for every student, free from politics and misinformation.

The high court is examining whether the laws unconstitutionally discriminate on the basis of sex.

The challenge targets a Hawaii law that prohibits individuals, including concealed-carry permit holders, from bringing firearms onto private property open to the public unless the owner has expressly granted permission.

This case could come down to whether property rights trump gun rights, and how those rights interact.

GUN RIGHTS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY DEBATED AT SUPREME COURT

A group of gun owners in Maui are challenging those default permission rules, arguing the law improperly makes it a crime to bear arms even where the owner of property accessible to the public is merely silent. They refer to these laws as "vampire rules," a nod to the legend of Dracula, who could not enter a room without being invited.

But Hawaii officials told the high court the restrictions balance gun and property rights, citing a long tradition in the Aloha State of limiting all kinds of dangerous weapons, dating back to when it was a monarchy.

A separate Second Amendment case still unresolved deals with the federal government's law banning people with a "habitual" use of marijuana from legally keeping a firearm.

The "guns and ganja" dispute centers on whether the widespread use of cannabis in recent decades — legal in some form in 40 states — makes criminalizing "mere possession" contingent on firearm ownership.

The same law was applied to former President Joe Biden's son Hunter, who was convicted under Section 922(g)(3), which bars any "unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance" from possessing a firearm.

Usha Vance told him she felt the act of converting and thinking about God and the Christian life made him a "better person."

"It's definitely dynamic to have a Hindu, a Catholic father, two Catholic kids, and one four-year-old girl who hasn't figured it out yet, but I wouldn't take it any other way," the vice president said. "I do think that God has plans for all of us, and I think that this is God's way of speaking to us and encouraging our kids to find Him through their own particular journey."

Weekly weightlifting sweet spot may be linked to longer life, study finds

Sticking to a resistance or strength training routine for a certain amount of time may extend your life, according to a new study.

Research published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine analyzed whether workouts involving weightlifting and weight machines are linked to a lower risk of death over time.

The study followed more than 147,000 U.S. adults who participated in three large health studies spanning up to 30 years. More than 35,000 died during the study period.

Participants reported their exercise habits, including the number of minutes per week spent on resistance training and on aerobic activity, like walking, biking or swimming.

Resistance training levels were then compared with later death from any cause, as well as from cardiovascular disease, cancer, respiratory disease and neurological disease, according to a press release.

Doing a moderate amount of resistance training was linked with a lower risk of death, according to study results. This outcome persisted even after researchers adjusted for other factors like age, smoking, diet quality, alcohol intake, family history and aerobic activity.

The clearest benefit was seen at around 90 to 119 minutes per week of resistance training.

EXERCISE PROGRAM REDUCES COMMON CANCER RECURRENCE AND BOOSTS SURVIVAL

People who stuck to this interval of training per week had a 13% lower risk of all-cause death, 19% lower risk of death from heart disease and 27% lower risk of death from neurological disease.

More than 120 minutes of resistance training per week did not appear to add extra benefit to the overall death risk, according to the findings.

A lower risk of cancer death was seen at even small amounts of resistance training — 30 to 59 minutes per week was associated with a 12% decreased risk.

The lowest overall death risk was found in people who did both higher aerobic activity and moderate to high resistance training.

The study shows only an association between resistance training and lower death risk, not a direct cause, the researchers noted.

Other limitations were that participants reported their own exercise habits, which may not have been completely accurate, and the study did not measure how intensely they exercised.

The authors reflected in the study that engaging in "sufficient aerobic or resistance training alone is linked to lower mortality, with a stronger effect from aerobic activity."

The lowest risk was seen among people who did high levels of both aerobic exercise and resistance training. However, for people already doing a very high amount of aerobic exercise (roughly five to six hours of jogging or 11 hours of brisk walking per week), adding resistance training did not appear to lower the risk any further, they noted.

In a previous interview with Fox News Digital, Kenny Santucci, fitness trainer, gym owner and host of the "Strong New York" podcast, shared the importance of pairing general movement with a focus on muscle building.

For a better fitness outcome, Santucci encourages gym-goers to add more strength training to their routines and to lift "a little bit heavier."

"Strength training should be the basis of what you do," he said. "I don't have anything against cycling … but if you're telling me that's the basis of your training, and your goal is aesthetics, then you are not really helping yourself get to that point any easier."

Santucci recommends working at about 60% to 80% of capacity, pushing to a point of fatigue with moderate intensity.

And because too many in the press chose narrative protection over honest scrutiny.

Imagine the scale of condemnation if identical failures had occurred under a Republican administration. The press would have treated it as a national scandal and evidence of systemic cruelty.

In reality, it should be treated as a scandal regardless of which party controls government. But it became painfully obvious that many media organizations operated with one-sided moral concern. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were too often shielded by euphemism, deflection and political protection.

Truth tellers do not selectively minimize suffering to protect political allies.

What saddens me even further is how quickly this country seems willing to contextualize preventable tragedies depending on which political team is responsible. The victims deserved better.

But Katie Abraham was not a statistic.

She was a daughter. A human being. A future erased.

Her family now carries a permanent wound created by leaders who demanded moral applause while evading moral accountability.

What families like ours endure is not only grief, but the knowledge that this suffering was avoidable. An illegal immigrant with glaring warning signs was allowed to move freely through our state when even minimal vetting, detention or enforcement should have stopped him long before he killed two people, including our youngest daughter, Katie.

America does not need open borders to be compassionate.

Jalen Brunson won the NBA Finals MVP award as he scored 45 points, dragging the Knicks to a 94-90 win. It was New York’s first NBA championship since 1973.

We are starting to head toward the dog days of summer, and that means we will be locking in for baseball. Baseball is the sport that typically builds my bankroll for the football seasons, and I intend to do that once again here. I'm looking to get some cash here as the Arizona Diamondbacks take on the Reds.

The Diamondbacks were expected to have a down year, but I guess no one told them that. It isn't like they are world-beaters. They are just 35-35 for the season, and are likely to only compete for a wild card berth if anything. They are one of my teams to watch at the trade deadline because they have a lot of talent, but clearly not enough to compete with the Dodgers (who does?). They also already have rumors about major players, like Ketel Marte, being an issue which hurts his value, but also allows the public to be more accepting of a trade.

They probably will once again shop today's starter, Zac Gallen. There were no takers last year, and even the free-agent market was pretty thin for Gallen. His numbers this year indicate that it probably won't be a very competitive market for his services either. He is 3-5 with a 5.43 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. He has been brutal on the road this season with an ERA north of seven. He has allowed at least four earned runs in six of his last eight outings. Cincinnati Reds hitters, however, are just 6-for-45 against him.

The Reds started the season hot, but have since cooled off. This is a young-and-upcoming team, so the result is not all that surprising. I think they are still a couple of years away from being truly competitive with their club. However, they did make the playoffs last season. If they can get some of their pitching to step up, they should have a solid chance this year. They are 33-36, so another team that could choose just about any option around the trade deadline.

Today they look to grab the series as they send out Andrew Abbott. He hasn't had a fantastic season, but he does have decent stuff. He is 4-4 with a 4.10 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. He has been worse at home than he has on the road, throwing to a 5.15 ERA. However, unlike Gallen who has struggled lately, Abbott has looked great. He has three straight quality starts and has allowed three or fewer earned runs in eight straight outings. Diamondback hitters have done well against him, going 15-for-43 over their careers.

The books seem to think this should be a toss-up based on the way they have done the moneyline. I can understand it to a certain extent. The better offense is almost certainly the Diamondbacks, but the better pitcher is on the Reds side. I tend to think there is better value of betting on the pitcher than betting on an offense.

Gallen has been awful, so even with a better offense, the opposing offense gets a boost as well. Maybe the simple solution is to take the over and move on. I don't hate the look if you choose to take it, but I'm going to shorten the game and focus on the time that Gallen and Abbott should still be around. Give me the Reds through five innings.

As President Donald Trump prepares to celebrate America's 250th anniversary today with a UFC event at the White House, a national network of angry activists has assembled its own fight card: a celebrity concert headlined by Jane Fonda, hundreds of "watch parties," local organizing events including a "RAGE AGAINST THE CAGE!" protest and a coordinated operation aimed at fighting Trump "through the midterm elections and beyond."

About 400 organizations in the "No Kings" coalition with combined annual revenues of about $3 billion have organized Sunday's nationwide protest operation. Internal planning documents obtained by Fox News Digital show organizers' plan to using the concerts, watch parties and local gatherings to build momentum for a political organizing network.

At 4 p.m., in one of day's many planned sideshows, "Refuse Fascism," a pro-communism group, plans its "RAGE AGAINST THE CAGE!" protest at McPherson Square near the White House. UFC fighter Sean Strickland released a video on social media, saying he had booked a ticket to protest at the White House for allegedly being cut from the main event for criticizing the state of Israel and the war in Iran. "Ill bring a bullhorn," he wrote in his social media post.

Meanwhile, the Women's March, a multi-millon-dollar nonprofit enterprise, has rented portable toilets that its staffers are setting up from noon to 6 p.m. at Farragut Square, blocks from the White House, for a protest dubbed "Dump on Trump."

A 16-page "No Kings Event Host Toolkit" describes June 14 as an opportunity to convert mass demonstrations into local political infrastructure. Organizers frame the event as a counter to Trump's hosting of the White House UFC event, saying "we will be doing the real work of democracy." The materials describe watch parties as "strategic community gatherings designed to build deep local connections and lay the grassroots infrastructure we need to defend our rights through the midterm elections and beyond."

Indivisible, a Democratic nonprofit funded by mega-donor George Soros, handed the headline role to the 88-year-old Fonda's "Committee for the First Amendment," which is hosting the day's premiere counter-event in New York City at a 90-minute concert, "Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment," starting at 7:30 pm. at a theater called "The Town Hall" on 43rd Street. This weekend, tickets in the orchestra section sold for $330.15.

The "Committee for the First Amendment" describes itself as "a large collective of artists, storytellers, and cultural leaders" launched in October 2025 with about 500 leading figures from the entertainment industry. They invoked the name of a group established in 1947 by Hollywood celebrities, including Lauren Bacall, Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball and Groucho Marx, to challenge Sen. Joe McCarthy's investigations into the spread of communism in the U.S. and Hollywood. Later, some members of the original "Committee for the First Amendment" were identified as communist, and original members of the group wrote that they were duped into joining the effort. Ronald Reagan, then an actor, reportedly called committee member "suckers."

Actor Humphrey Bogart even published a politically frank column, headlined, "I'm No Communist," urging fellow celebrities not to be "used as dupes by Commie organizations."

Fast forward to today, and the anti-Trump concert will feature left-wing activists including Fonda, whose controversial 1972 trip to communist North Vietnam earned her the nickname "Hanoi Jane" and sparked backlash from critics who accused her of aligning with the North Vietnamese communist regime during the Vietnam War. She's scheduled to be joined in New York City by 1970s "godmother of punk" Patti Smith, actress Bette Midler, singer Rufus Wainwright, singer Sasha Allen, former MSNBC host Joy Reid and actor Wilson Cruz.

Organizers describe the event as "an uplifting evening of song, solidarity, and action" celebrating freedoms of "speech, religion, press, assembly, and protest."

But the internal planning documents reviewed by Fox News Digital show the concert is the public-facing component of a much broader anti-Trump organizing effort designed to be a funneling agent for "the midterm elections and beyond."

The day's messaging guidance casts the June 14 showdown as an alternative political narrative of "people power."

"The lead-up to America’s 250th is a test of who we are," the guidance goes. "President Trump is choosing self-promotion. We’re choosing community, participation and people power."

Organizers repeatedly frame the effort as direct counterprogramming to Trump's event. One suggested message prepared for supporters states: "On June 14, President Trump hosts a UFC cage fight at the White House. The main event will be in our living rooms."

The "No Kings" coalition's internal materials outline an extensive organizing apparatus. Host toolkits instruct local organizers to recruit co-hosts, appoint "greeters" and safety leads, collect attendee contact information, identify future organizers and schedule follow-up organizing meetings after the concert.

One host guide tells organizers their goal is to "bring people in and move them to ongoing participation." Another instructs hosts to determine "who might help you with organizing moving forward." Before attendees leave, organizers are directed to create "a clearly defined plan" and schedule another organizing meeting within two weeks.

Taken together, the documents show an effort focused not merely on a single day of protest but on building durable activist networks after June 14.

The coalition's messaging guidance makes that objective explicit. One recommended talking point states: "He wants attention. We're building a movement."

At the same time, organizers stress legal compliance and message discipline.

The protests include a "reimbursement" program, and the material explicitly states that it's administered through Indivisible Civics, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. In a departure from the clearly partisan nature of "No Kings" protests that have as an underlying theme that Trump is "a king," the guidance for today states that events "cannot include lobbying or partisan political activity."

The reimbursement material reveals for the first time that participating groups may receive up to $500 in reimbursements for watch parties connected to the event.

The guidance further states that event's can't be "co-hosted with any political party or partisan organization" or "feature candidates running for elected office." The document also specifies that the program "cannot reimburse expenses from political rallies or protests (e.g. 'No Kings') or events hosted to prep for those activities."

The politics has been very thinly veiled. At the last "No Kings" protest in St. Paul, Minn., just like with earlier rallies, organizers, including Fonda, openly embraced Democratic politicians like Rep. Ilhan Omar, without any Republican lawmakers around.

Organizers emphasized strict commitment to a "NONVIOLENCE CLAUSE." One host guide warns: "DO NOT DELETE THE NONVIOLENCE CLAUSE. Your event will not be approved without this language."

Beyond the celebrity headliners, the campaign's leadership network overlaps with activists and organizations that have been the subject of congressional inquiries for their alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

Documents released by the House Ways and Means Committee show that attorney Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, executive director of the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, a Washington, D.C., nonprofit, represents the People's Forum, a nonprofit that has received millions of dollars Neville Roy Singham, an American businessman and self-described Marxist who lives in Shanghai, supporting the Chinese Communist Party. According to her official biography, Verheyden-Hilliard also serves on the steering committee of Fonda's "Committee for the First Amendment." Verheyden-Hilliard hasn't respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.

The operation is also supported by a professional communications infrastructure. Press inquiries for "Rise Up, Sing Out" are directed to Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis, a prominent New York-based public-relations firm known as "SSM&L." The organization created many of the planning documents for the New York City headline event, its name on the metadata of several documents. The PR company didn't respond to a request for comment.

Biden-appointed judge orders Trump to restore slavery, climate change references at national parks

A Biden-appointed federal judge ordered the Trump administration to restore exhibits and other materials at national parks that highlighted slavery, climate change and other leftist ideology after they were removed under a directive targeting displays deemed disparaging to America.

U.S. District Judge Angel Kelley in Massachusetts, appointed to the federal bench by former President Joe Biden in 2021, issued a preliminary injunction Friday requiring the administration to reverse the changes and pause any further removals amid legal challenges.

The move comes amid the America 250 celebrations that will crescendo on July 4.

The Interior Department in a statement called Kelley a "liberal activist judge" and said it was reviewing its options to appeal its removal of what Secretary Doug Burgum rebuked as "improper partisan ideology."

Trump’s March 27, 2025 executive order, "Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History," sought to restore American heritage to national parks and monuments that were "changed to perpetuate a false reconstruction of American history" after the race riots of 2020 that might have ultimately helped fuel Biden's election.

Trump ordered Interior to "take action, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law," to ensure that all U.S. government descriptions and depictions do not "inappropriately disparage Americans past or living" – instead putting "focus on the greatness" of America.

While Kelley wrote that the plaintiffs had shown the administration’s actions were meant "to rewrite the Nation’s history with a white-out pen," Trump said he had issued the order because of the "false reconstruction" of U.S. history under Biden, the president who appointed her.

Removing the disparagement of Americans and highlighting of U.S. greatness set a "dangerous precedent of censorship and sanitization," according to Kelley.

The judge also ordered the administration to file weekly status reports detailing its progress in restoring the affected materials.

Among the materials Burgum's Interior removed were an exhibit at Philadelphia’s Independence National Historical Park describing the ownership of enslaved people by George Washington, the nation's first president, and signage detailing climate threats at Fort Sumter in South Carolina.

Trump signed the executive order to work to "restoring truth and sanity to American history" at the nation’s museums, parks and landmarks. Burgum later directed the removal of what he called "improper partisan ideology" from museums, monuments, landmarks and other public exhibits under federal control.

"Museums in our nation’s capital should be places where individuals go to learn — not to be subjected to ideological indoctrination or divisive narratives that distort our shared history," the Trump order read.

Federal prosecutors have quietly submitted new evidence under seal in the case against Timothy Hudson, who is accused of sexually assaulting and killing his stepsister, 18-year-old Anna Kepner, onboard a Carnival Cruise ship.

In a pair of filings entered in federal court in Miami on June 8, prosecutors revealed they have obtained "newly disclosed, supplemental information" supporting their effort to revoke the release of Hudson, identified as T.H. in the filings.

The new filing comes as Hudson was allowed to remain free until his September 2026 murder trial. In April, a federal grand jury indicted Hudson as an adult; he is accused of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse after Kepner was found dead in November 2025 inside a Carnival cruise cabin that was traveling on the high seas toward Miami.

11:24 a.m.: Cabin attendants discovered Kepner's body, prosecutors say, wrapped in bedding and partially hidden under a bed, with a box of life vests positioned to obscure it.

Josh Duhamel revealed that he experiences a sense of physical relief immediately after leaving Hollywood behind for his remote heartland cabin.

The 53-year-old actor maintains a home in Los Angeles but has shifted most of his life to the Midwest in recent years. Duhamel's primary residence is now in Fargo, North Dakota, but he often escapes an hour and a half away to his 50-acre off-grid cabin retreat in the woods of Minnesota.

During a recent appearance on Dana Carvey and David Spade's "Fly on the Wall" podcast, the "Transformers" star opened up about how cabin life has impacted his health and spirit.

"What I think I love the most about it is I just get out there and my heart rate drops about 25%," Duhamel shared.

"My priorities change too," he continued. "I feel like I have purpose."

"I'm always working on something where I don't even mow my own lawn here," Duhamel added.

"It's just absolute freedom out there."

Duhamel went on to detail how he built the property from the ground up after first purchasing the land almost 17 years ago.

"I bought like a little half a parcel for 12 acres for like nothing," he recalled. "And then the other half of that parcel went up for sale."

"Then I had then 26 acres with a little shack of a cabin with no electricity, no water, but it was a cabin," Duhamel continued. "It was a structure. I got a cabin. I'm not going to sleep there with the rats or the mice or the raccoons. And then the one next to that went up for sale."

The "Las Vegas" alum recalled that he purchased the next parcel of land, which is on a lake, for "nothing," as he marveled over the difference in cost of property between Minnesota and Southern California.

"I'll tell you what I paid for it — $189,000 for 26 acres," Duhamel said. "The amount you can get there versus what you pay for it here is crazy. I'm not sure I would be able to get it for that now. But then all of a sudden, I had two little cabins and like 50 acres on this place and I never planned to do that. I just wanted something out there somewhere that I could just get away and go, you know, fish and stuff like that."

Duhamel explained that he came to embrace the process of building his rustic sanctuary piece-by-piece over 15 years.

"It's turned into like a whole passion of mine," he said. "I started moving dirt and I started shaping it."

"And we actually built a property," Duhamel continued. "[Because] these cabins are so small, they're just big enough for three people or family of three."

Duhamel's family has grown in the years since he first purchased his land in Minnesota. The Daytime Emmy Award winner was previously married to singer Fergie, 51. The two, who share son Axl, 12, tied the knot in 2009 but finalized their divorce in 2019.

In 2022, Duhamel married model Audra Marie, 32. The couple are parents to son Shepherd, 2, and newborn daughter, Rocca de Leon, whom they welcomed last month.

While speaking with Carvey and Spade, Duhamel recalled how he adjusted to living in the cabins, which were lacking in modern amenities during the early days.

"For the first few years, there was no water. There was no bathroom," he said. "We had electricity in the little cabin — the second one — but no water," he said. "So, we were like washing our dishes in the lake and it was like homesteading. But, I loved it. You know, it was like so different than anything I'd ever done before."

Duhamel noted that due to the remote location of the property, it now functions entirely detached from local municipal utility lines and instead relies on independent, off-grid infrastructure for water, heating and electricity.

"We had to build wells," he explained. "Each one of the cabins has a well."

Duhamel said that they also use solar panels to generate daily electricity as well as propane tanks, which can power high-energy appliances and provide heating.

While describing the activities that he enjoys at his lakeside retreat, Duhamel shared that he recently "splurged" on a pontoon boat and also has a "little old fishing boat out there and a couple old jet skis.'

He also shared the story of how he acquired a 1954 Chriscraft motor yacht, which was featured in a scene from his 2022 action-comedy "Shotgun Wedding." Duhamel said that he expressed an interest in buying the boat after production was completed on the movie, which also starred Jennifer Lopez.

"I was like, 'What's up with that boat?' and they said, 'We paid a lot of money for this thing.' I said, 'Well, I'll give you this for it.' They said, 'No, no, we paid this,'" he recalled.

"I let it go," Duhamel continued. "Well, about six months later, they come back and they say, 'You still want the boat?' And I said, 'Well, I'll give you like half as much as I offered before.' They said, 'Fine.' They took it and then it was over in Puerto Rico or something. I had to get it all the way back to the States."

"They were having to do all that and they said, 'You know what? It's yours,'" he remembered. "So they just gave it to me."

However, Duhamel explained that between transporting the boat to Fargo and paying to have it professionally restored, the "free boat" became a "huge money pit."

"But it's all done now and it's out on the water and it's a really cool ride," he said.

While Duhamel said that he and his family spend a lot of time at their Minnesota property, they primarily live in Fargo, which is his wife's hometown. Duhamel noted that he appreciates the slower pace of life in Fargo compared to L.A.

"It's a really fun town, too," he said. "I mean, people know of it from the movies and the TV shows, and it's it's very different than that. But I just love North Dakota. I love the people there. I love the way they live their lives. It's a little bit slower."

Duhamel also opened up about his cabin in Minnesota during an interview with Fox News Digital in March.

The actor said that he was now 72% ready for a zombie apocalypse at his "doomsday" cabin after previously joking that he was about 70% ready last summer.

"Every year, I get a little bit more fully prepped," he said. "But that's part of the fun is the journey of figuring it out, seeing what the latest and greatest is. I'm less afraid of zombies and more afraid of AI robots now. I don't know if we're ever gonna fully be able to, you know, protect ourselves from what's coming, but at least I can hopefully turn off all devices and just sort of shut ourselves off from the world if we need to."

"Is that too dark? Maybe that's too dark," he wondered. "I don't know."

Duhamel, who hails from Minot, North Dakota, explained that living in his home state keeps him grounded.

"Hollywood can be a very seductive place, and it can be a very dangerous place if you don't remember where you came from," he said.

"I've always stayed very close to my roots," Duhamel continued. "I've got a very tight-knit group of friends that have been very close to me forever, since kindergarten, some of them. So, I've leaned on them a lot just to keep my a-- in check throughout the years."

He said he’s been really "grateful" to have had "a place like North Dakota to root myself in, because it's helped me stay true to myself throughout all these years."

The "Ransom Canyon" star also shared that he could see himself living in his Minnesota cabin full-time and noted that spending time there provided a good balance for his children.

"My 12-year-old gets to get to see both sides of that," Duhamel explained. "He's in L.A., but he's also at the cabin a lot, so he gets to go out there and kind of see the world as I did as a kid."

You know that shopping moment when you can picture the exact item in your head, but you have no idea what to call it? Maybe you want a dining chair with a curved back. Maybe you are looking for a black dress with sheer sleeves, but you do not know the exact style name. So you type a few vague words, scroll through a wall of products and wonder why online shopping still feels like a guessing game.

Amazon now wants AI to help close that gap. Its newest search feature creates AI-generated images in real time as you type inside the Amazon Shopping app. The idea sounds simple: describe what you see in your head, watch the image change with your words and tap the version that looks closest to what you want.

From there, Amazon shows visually similar products you can actually shop. Here's how the new search experience works and why it could change the way you browse for clothes, furniture and home finds.

AI HOME SEARCH COULD CHANGE HOW YOU BUY A HOUSE

Amazon says the new feature appears in the search suggestions area of its Shopping app for U.S. customers. It is rolling out on iOS and Android, starting with apparel and home, where looks carry a lot of weight. Amazon says more categories will be added over time.

That makes sense. Visual details can make or break a purchase. A "blue chair" may give you thousands of results. A "blue velvet accent chair with gold legs" gets closer. Add "curved back" or "tufted seat," and the AI image can shift as your description gets sharper.

Instead of forcing you to know the right design term, Amazon lets you describe the look. Then the app turns that description into a visual cue.

You start by typing into the Amazon search bar the way you normally would. However, this time, Amazon wants you to use more descriptive language.

For example, you might type: "green dress with puff sleeves" or "wood coffee table with rounded edges."

As you add details, AI-generated images appear below the search bar. Those images update as you refine your wording. When one looks close to what you imagined, you can tap it and shop for products with a similar look.

That last part is important because the AI image itself may not represent a real product listing. It works more like a visual guide. Amazon uses it to understand the style you want, then matches that idea to items in its store.

The best use case here involves those hard-to-describe purchases. Furniture, clothing, accessories and decor often depend on texture, shape, pattern and color.

Search has always handled exact terms pretty well. Type a brand name or model number, and you usually get somewhere useful. The problem starts when you know the vibe but not the vocabulary.

That could save time, especially for those of you who browse with a mental image instead of a shopping list.

There is just one big caution here: AI can create something that looks perfect but may not exist. That could lead to disappointment if the generated image looks better than the real products Amazon surfaces afterward. Shoppers may tap an image expecting an exact match and end up with close-enough results.

So treat the AI image as a sketch, not a product promise. Before you buy, check the actual listing photos, dimensions, materials, reviews and return policy. That extra minute can save you from ordering a "close match" that misses the detail you cared about most.

The new real-time AI image search fits into a larger push by Amazon to make shopping more visual. Amazon Lens already lets you point your phone camera at an item and search for similar products. Lens Live takes that further by scanning items in real time and showing matching products in a swipeable carousel.

You can also add text to an image search. So, if you upload a photo of a beige sofa, you can add a note like "in white" or "smaller size" to narrow the results.

Amazon also offers a "More like this" option on product images. That can help when you like one product's look but want a different sleeve, length, color or style.

For iPhone users, Amazon Lens can also launch from the lock screen through a widget. That means you can spot something in the real world and search for it faster.

Amazon is also using AI-generated style images in apparel search results. When you search for clothing, you may see "Shop by style" collages tied to looks such as "Urban luxe" or "Soft elegance."

Tap a collage, and Amazon takes you to a page with shoppable items, similar products and style options you can browse. That makes the experience feel closer to a digital stylist than a basic product search.

It could help those of you who want outfit ideas rather than a single item. However, the same caution applies. Use the AI styling as inspiration, then judge the actual products on their own.

Stephen A Smith elects not to dunk on Trump following Knicks NBA Finals victory

Stephen A. Smith had a chance to dunk on President Donald Trump after the New York Knicks won the NBA championship late Saturday night.

He passed.

Yes, really.

After the Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs, 94-90, in Game 5 of the NBA Finals at Frost Bank Center, OutKick/Fox News Digital caught up with Smith and asked whether he had any response to Trump now that New York had officially ended its 53-year NBA championship drought.

Smith, who had spent several days talking about Trump’s appearance at Madison Square Garden earlier in the series, wanted no part of it.

"The Knicks just won the title. I don't give a s--- about politics or anything like that. I could care less. You could ask me tomorrow, you could ask me Tuesday. But right now, the New York Knicks just ended a 53-year drought. I've waited all my life for this moment. And I'm not going to let anything get in the way of that," Smith told OutKick/Fox News Digital.

"There's no disrespect to you or anybody else. It's just that that stuff is the furthest thing from my mind. I've been a lifelong New York Knick fan, born in the Bronx raised in Hollis, Queens. [There's been] one disappointment after another after another. It's been 53 years. And it's over," Smith concluded.

That was Stephen A. Smith, one of the loudest and most opinionated voices in sports media, choosing not to extend his public back-and-forth with Trump because the Knicks finally won the NBA Finals.

Imagine that.

And, to be fair, it was probably the right call.

Smith had every opportunity to take a victory lap after New York closed out San Antonio. The Knicks lost Game 3 with Trump in attendance at Madison Square Garden, which gave Smith plenty of ammunition after he spent the lead-up to the game saying he did not want the president there.

Smith said Trump had "no business" showing up in New York City for Game 3. He argued the president’s presence would create unnecessary chaos around one of the biggest Knicks games in decades. He also said he would blame Trump if the Knicks lost.

Well, the Knicks lost.

And Trump had a response.

After attending Game 3 at Madison Square Garden, Trump spoke with reporters before boarding Air Force One to head back to Washington, D.C. OutKick/Fox News Digital asked Trump about Smith, who has repeatedly talked about running for president, saying Trump would be responsible if the Knicks lost.

"I think he’s a nice guy, but you need a certain aptitude to run for president," Trump said at the time. "You need a high IQ. I’m not sure that Stephen has that. I don’t think he does, actually."

So, there was Trump, after watching the Knicks lose at Madison Square Garden, responding to Smith’s criticism by taking a shot at his constant White House flirtations.

Smith, of course, responded in kind.

The "First Take" host went on ESPN the next day with an American flag behind him and presidential music playing in the background and delivered a lengthy monologue.

"You wanna talk about IQ, I could say I could put my IQ against yours any day of the week," Smith said. "I could go one better. I can ask you why you’ve been running from me for the last year since I wanted to talk to you. I could ask you to debate me since you think you’re that dude. We can go a myriad of ways with all of this."

Trump later escalated the feud Wednesday morning on Truth Social, calling Smith an "arrogant fool," a "low IQ individual" and "dumb as a rock."

Smith kept firing back, too. He continued talking about Trump’s appearance affecting the Knicks, New York City and the overall atmosphere around the Finals.

In other words, this had all the ingredients of a sports-politics-media feud that could have gone on forever. And it still might.

But, for one night, the Knicks' historic victory took precedence over a war of words.

Jalen Brunson put on a historic show, scoring a Knicks Finals-record 45 points and willing the franchise to its first NBA title since 1973. For a fan base that had spent more than five decades waiting for another championship, that was the story that had Smith's attention.

Not Trump.

Not his own potential political future.

Smith has built an entire career out of always having something to say. He debates. He rants. He monologues. He finds a way to make himself part of the story.

But standing inside Frost Bank Center after the Knicks won the NBA Finals, Smith changed his approach.

No dunking on Trump.

No victory lap.

No pivot back to presidential politics.

Just a Knicks fan trying to process the fact that one disappointment after another after another had finally ended.

Smith can respond to Trump tomorrow. Or Tuesday. Or whenever ESPN decides the feud is worthy of another television segment.

For one night, though, even Stephen A. Smith decided the Knicks winning the championship was enough.

Young men are returning to church — and it could reshape America’s future

If you’ve attended church recently, you may have noticed a curious sight: twenty-somethings in the pews again. It’s been a long time, but they are back. And why they are back may tell us about the time we are in as a nation and where we are headed next.

The resurgence of faith among the young has been notable and swift. A Gallup poll this year found that 42% of young men now say religion is "very important" in their lives, the highest in a quarter century and up 14% since just 2023.

According to the Barna Group, Gen-Z churchgoers are now attending more frequently than any other generation, marking a "historic reversal" and the "first time Barna has recorded such spiritual interest being led by younger generations."

POLL FINDS SHARP RISE IN YOUNG MEN CALLING RELIGION 'VERY IMPORTANT'

Sociologists are bewildered. Something is happening, but they don’t know what. I have an idea, in part because my own faith journey mirrors that of these young men.

I was raised in a Catholic home and attended Catholic grade schools. But while most of my high school classmates were enrolling at Holy Cross or other Jesuit schools, I chose Williams College, a secular playground — and left my faith behind.

Like so many rebellious kids in the early ‘60s, I was seduced by the idea of breaking the chains of religion to live a self-indulgent life. For a time, the questions of the age seemed more compelling than the answers I had been given.

I recall the headmaster of my Catholic high school, Father Anthony McHale, telling me, "We will get you in the end." And he was right. I returned to Catholicism by my mid-twenties — largely, I suspect, for the same reason as today’s young men.

The past decade was not so different from the 1960s, marked by progressive overreach, cultural secularism, moral bankruptcy, and political turmoil. Like my generation, today’s young people came to believe that meaning could be found in self-expression and political activism alone. But it left them rootless and empty.

Many began asking the same question I had asked: Is this all there is? And in their search, they found the answer.

The chains of religion are not restrictive but liberating. Through secularism, we find communities that accommodate our every desire. Through faith, we find communities that call us to be better. And that is what every young man craves: purpose forged through struggle, sacrifice, and service to something bigger than self.

My prayer today is that this is the stirring of a new Great Awakening in America. If it takes hold, it may lead us back to the politics my own generation discovered in the Reagan years — one that exchanges progressive relativism for the pursuit of a moral society rooted in tradition and shared conviction.

This is not a baseless hope. A generation that recovers a sense of the transcendent will not accept the idea that the state is the highest authority. They are likely to value the family, to resist the politicization of childhood and education, and to defend religious liberty not as a special interest but as essential to a free society. They may also prove less susceptible to the despair and rage — even violence — that have characterized so much of recent discourse.

After the assassination of Charlie Kirk last September, Bible sales jumped 36% in a single month. Sales reached a 21-year high in 2025, double what they were in 2019. It’s little wonder why. Kirk’s brave witness of the faith, and the callousness of his murder, inspired questions about mortality and meaning that social media could not answer.

I am encouraged by these signs. I believe today’s young people might not merely match the faithfulness of my generation but exceed it. Because the dark clouds of their time — AI, democratic socialism, gender ideology, and more — are even more ominous than those that hovered over the 1960s. The greater the darkness, the brighter the light can shine.

History shows that the hunger for God never fully disappears. It can only be suppressed for a season. When it reawakens, the political and cultural consequences can be profound — and, with God’s help, profoundly hopeful.

Alleged Malibu serial squatter featured in new docuseries after years of homeowner complaints

An alleged "serial squatter" accused of terrorizing Malibu residents by weaponizing California’s tenant-friendly rental laws is now being spotlighted in a new Hulu docuseries.

After years of complaints, Ellie Mae McNulty is featured in episode 2 of Hulu's new docuseries "Squatters: Get the F*** Out of My House," titled "The Paradise of Malibu."

The series recounted how McNulty, a British actress and screenwriter, allegedly charmed her way into homes, then refused to leave.

Her squatting spree allegedly included Alden Marin, an artist and stage IV cancer patient who let her stay at his home in the fall of 2021.

McNulty allegedly told Marin she only needed to crash for a few days while her own home was being finished. But the short stay stretched into a month, and the once-polite guest turned rude, demanding and increasingly hostile, according to Vanity Fair.

At Marin’s home, McNulty allegedly used his credit cards, changed the locks while he was hospitalized and flushed cloth napkins down the toilet, clogging the pipes, Vanity Fair reported. She also allegedly demanded as much as $20,000 to leave.

"She saw in my brother a kind of perfect storm," Alden’s sister, Mindy Marin, told Vanity Fair. "She has this actressy English thing about her. Super flirty. She’s just got it down—especially the men—by being this English rose."

McNulty has disputed Marin’s account, claiming he had the locks changed while her possessions were still inside the residence, according to the magazine.

At the center is California’s laws which allow guests, even those who do not pay rent, to be treated as tenants after a certain period of occupancy, making it difficult for homeowners to immediately remove unwanted houseguests.

Marin ultimately hauled McNulty to court in 2022, and a judge ordered her to vacate, according to Vanity Fair.

Marin’s sister, Mindy Marin, later uncovered more than 10 legal cases involving McNulty going back nearly two decades, with the most recent tied to residents around Point Dume, the outlet reported.

Her alleged past victims included an 80-something Santa Monica widow, a yoga teacher who said McNulty stiffed her on rent and classes, and others who claimed the accused squatter used California’s tenant protections to drag out her stays, according to Vanity Fair.

As America prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday, many families are rediscovering the places, traditions and flavors that help tell the nation's story.

Few places capture that diversity better than the U.S.'s national parks.

From the tropical waters of Florida's Dry Tortugas National Park to the rugged wilderness above the Arctic Circle in Alaska, the parks offer visitors a glimpse into the landscapes that have shaped generations of Americans. Increasingly, they also offer a taste of the regional foods and culinary traditions that surround them.

"Whenever I know where I'm going on vacation, the first thing I think about is what I'm going to eat when I get there," said Melissa Knific, the New Jersey-based co-author of the new "National Parks Cookbook."

The cookbook features 100 recipes inspired by all 63 national parks, drawing from local ingredients, historic lodges, nearby communities and regional food traditions. The result is a culinary road map of the United States.

For Dry Tortugas National Park, for example, located nearly 70 miles west of Key West, Knific developed Key Lime Coconut Bars inspired by one of Florida's most iconic flavors.

The park is also represented by a salad featuring Key West pink shrimp, a nod to the waters surrounding the islands.

At the opposite end of the country, Alaska's Gates of the Arctic National Park presented a different challenge.

"It's the most remote national park in the system," Knific said.

After researching local traditions and speaking with people familiar with the area, she created Wild Blueberry Sourdough Waffles, inspired by the region's foraging culture and the importance of sourdough in remote Alaska communities.

Other recipes draw from America's agricultural roots.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio — a park Knific described as "near and dear" to her — is represented by a roasted chicken recipe inspired by local farms operating within park boundaries.

For Knific, however, the project is about more than food.

"We hope that this book serves as an inspiration for people, whether they've traveled to the parks and want to recreate a taste memory from those parks or haven't had a chance to go and want to try something that represents that park," she said.

National parks have long been gathering places for American families — and Knific believes that food helps preserve those memories long after a vacation ends.

"I think we can all probably come up with at least one memory of just the meal that you ate on that one vacation," she said.

"I really think it transports you back to that place in time."

As the nation approaches its 250th year, that combination of place, tradition and shared experience may be one of the most flavorful ways to celebrate America itself.
