Benjamin Satterley, the pro wrestling star known as Pac, has died, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) announced on Sunday night. He was 40.

AEW made the tragic announcement on its social media.

"All Elite Wrestling is saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac," the company said. "A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organizations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability.

"Pac signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and held multiple AEW Championships and competed in some of the most memorable matches in AEW history. Our condolences go out to Satterley’s family, friends and fans."

The circumstances behind Pac’s death were unclear. He challenged Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship at All Out, which occurred on Saturday in Chicago.

Pac was one of the first wrestlers to sign with All Elite Wrestling in 2019. He was a two-time trios champion and the inaugural all-Atlantic champion.

Before wrestling in AEW, he was with WWE and known as Adrian Neville.

Satterley was a two-time cruiserweight champion, an NXT champion and two-time NXT tag team champion.

Attorney for lone holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy mistrial pushes back on claims of refusing the law

The attorney for the lone holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial is pushing back on a claim that his client refused to follow the law, telling Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany that the juror had no doubt about his decision.

In a preview of an interview airing Monday on "Fox & Friends," McEnany asks attorney Edward Paltzik whether juror Michael P. Desronvil ever had reasonable doubt after the jury foreperson sent the judge a note accusing him of refusing to follow the law on reasonable doubt.

"Michael had zero doubt," Paltzik says.

Desronvil was the lone holdout after seven days of deliberations in Clancy’s trial. Eleven jurors were prepared to find the former labor and delivery nurse not criminally responsible for killing her three children, while Desronvil held out for a conviction. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial Sept. 4.

Clancy admitted killing 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan at the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. Her defense argued that postpartum psychosis left her not criminally responsible. Prosecutors argued she understood what she was doing and planned the killings.

Houston Astros secure the most embarrassing kind of Major League Baseball history with AL West win

When Major League Baseball changed the schedule to ensure that the final day of the regular season featured all 15 games starting within a few minutes of each other, Sunday is what they envisioned. Mostly.

While most postseason spots and seeds were decided either within the last week or the last few days, there were two races that came down to the final day of the year. The American League West race featured the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers entering the day tied at 80-81, remarkably, and the third wild card spot in the National League between the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Phillies, who as recently as last week had a 99.1% chance of reaching the postseason, per FanGraphs, avoided a historic collapse and clinched a wild card series appearance with a 7-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

But the Astros, even with a win, did in fact make an embarrassing type of history: they are officially the worst division-winning team in baseball history.

The previous low-water mark was the 2005 San Diego Padres, who won the NL West with an 82-80 record. And while the Astros won 9-0 over the long-eliminated Athletics to avoid the 80-82 record, 81–81 marks a new low winning percentage for a division winner over a full season.

Even crazier? The Astros were extremely fortunate to finish the season at .500.

While wins and losses are what decide the standings and outcomes, run differential has proven over time to be a significantly better predictor of future win and loss records than the previous standings. Essentially, the better you are at outscoring the opposition, the more likely it is that you'll win more games moving forward. One-run outcomes are not sustainable, but blowouts are illustrative of team quality.

Run differentials are also used to build "expected" records. Meaning that in the history of baseball, a specific run differential is expected to result in a given number of wins and losses. The Miami Marlins, for example, outscored the opposition by just three runs over the course of the season, which is an "expected" record of 81-81. Makes sense, they were even with the other teams in the league, they should finish at an even .500.

By contrast, the Milwaukee Brewers finished with a league-best +214 run differential, good for an "expected" record of 103-59. They finished 103-59.

But teams frequently over perform or underperform against their expected win-loss record, for any number of reasons. A bad bullpen could mean a team wins blowouts, but loses more than their fair share of close games. Bad luck. Poorly timed injuries. Poor defense. Inconsistent hitting with runners in scoring position. The randomness of baseball. Or a dominant closer who shuts the door consistently in close games.

This year's 81-81 division winning Astros team was so bad they were outscored 32 runs over the course of the season, good for just an 78-84 expected win-loss record. While the Rangers and their fans are sure to be disappointed with the outcome, missing out on the final day, they were even worse. Texas had a -46 run differential, and a 76-86 expected record.

These are not good baseball teams.

So it's a near-certainty that Houston will make a quick postseason exit, right?

Yeah, no, not at all. Houston plays the Chicago White Sox in the best-of-three wild card series, which the Astros now host as division winners. Chicago's a better team, but the randomness inherent in the small sample size of a playoff series makes the result effectively a toss up. In fact, FanGraphs gives the Astros a 55% chance of advancing to the ALDS.

Should Houston win that series, they'd play the extremely mediocre Cleveland Guardians, who finished with a +11 run differential and 85-77 record. Cleveland may be slight favorites in that series, maybe 57-43, but hardly a foregone conclusion. Which means we could be staring down the barrel of an 81-81 team reaching the ALCS.

MLB always hoped for last-minute drama by starting every game around the same time on the final day of the regular season. They got it.

They also got the worst-ever division winning team because the league's financial incentives and playoff structure encourage owners to do the bare minimum and spend as little as possible to win 85 games and hope for the best. Or in Houston's case, 81. The Astros benefited, and fans were forced to watch the AL West "battle" lost.

Foiled terror plot at bomber base signals wider threat to US military installations: expert

Five men arrested near a key U.S. bomber base in the U.K. on Sunday may have planned a "complex," coordinated attack with potentially far-reaching security implications for American military installations globally, a former U.S. intelligence official warned.

As counterterrorism police investigated after officers detained the suspects near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, a former Pentagon official also said President Donald Trump will ultimately be the one to decide the consequences if indeed the "trail leads to Tehran."

The men were initially held on suspicion of offenses under Britain’s Explosives Act before being arrested on terrorism charges in connection with the airfield, a key U.S. Air Force hub and the primary European base for American strategic bombers.

On Sunday, Trump said U.S. authorities had been monitoring the suspects prior to their capture.

"We had them under investigation," Trump told reporters in Chicago. "They were looking to do big damage to our fort."

According to Sky News, counterterrorism police were investigating whether Iran is linked to the suspected bomb plot.

Former Trump White House official Morgan Murphy told Fox News Digital that British authorities are leading the investigation alongside U.S. law enforcement and intelligence.

"Every phone, bank record and rental receipt will be run through British and American intelligence, and if the trail leads to Tehran, it will be found," Murphy clarified.

"But as American airmen and bombers seem to have been the target, Air Force investigators on the base, the FBI in London, and American intelligence will likely all work the case."

"If conclusive evidence proves Iran is behind an attempted attack on U.S. forces, the American President will ultimately decide how Tehran pays," Murphy added.

Former Defense Intelligence Agency official Andrew Badger told Fox News Digital the number of suspects and vehicles involved raised the possibility of a sophisticated operation.

"We are going to see elevated security protocols across Europe, across the U.K., and across the entire world for any U.S. installation," he said.

"This is a very significant threat, and again, seeing that we had five individuals involved and three different reported vans at the scene, this could have been a very complex, highly orchestrated operation," Badger added.

"This isn't just some type of amateur lone wolf operation," he said, noting Fairford’s strategic importance to the U.S. military. "Fairford is also where the U.S. houses its strategic bombers for Europe as well as the rest of the world."

He said a potential attack posed broader risks beyond the airfield itself which he said "could have had significant security implications. It could have damaged the nearby area."

"They could have tried to use a VBIED or a vehicle-borne explosive device where the first van could have gone off at the front gate, and then the other vans would have gone in and tried to go for the strategic bombers," Badger said.

British authorities have not publicly identified who they believe was behind the suspected plot or announced a motive, but RAF Fairford had taken on greater strategic importance during the war with Iran.

The U.K. government previously authorized U.S. forces to use the Royal Air Force bases Fairford and Diego Garcia for limited defensive operations, including destroying Iranian missiles and launchers at their source.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) later warned that any base used to attack Iranian territory would be considered a legitimate target.

"Any base used to launch attacks on Iranian territory is a legitimate target for our forces," the IRGC said, according to reports.

"Tehran warned London in July to keep American bombers off Fairford, and if this plot traces back to Iran, the answer must be more bombers, not fewer," Morgan said.

A local councilor told Reuters there had been a recent security alert at Fairford and surveillance had been stepped up.

"So there was a specific threat about six weeks ago from the Iranians on this base. At the time, there was increased surveillance around the area," he told the outlet.

Badger, however, cautioned against assuming Iran was responsible while pointing to other potential threats.

"This could be Iran trying to gain strategic leverage in negotiations, but there are other actors as well," Badger added.

"But there's Russia, who's been launching a campaign of gray zone or hybrid warfare attacks across Europe, as well as Islamic extremists, which are still a significant threat here in the U.K."

"Was this some type of retaliation by Iran to perhaps try to gain leverage or to try to inflict a cost for the U.S. withdrawing from these negotiations? Again, we don't know for sure, but it is a possibility," Badger said.

Badger also pointed to RAF Welford, a major U.S. ammunition storage facility that primarily supports operations at RAF Fairford.

"RAF Welford is actually the second-largest weapons and ammunition depot in all of Europe," Badger said, noting that the facility where the U.S. stores ammunition "could have been a target as well."

"Other bases across Europe, including European and U.S. partners, have already been on a heightened state of alert," Badger continued.

"But of course, after this attack, I think they're going to be in an even more heightened state. You're going to have more frequent security patrols."

"There are reports that RAF Fairford was put onto what's called the Delta alert, which is the highest state of security alert within the military base system," Badger said.

"So this is basically that 'an imminent terrorist attack is inbound,'" he concluded.

Kathy Griffin says Ed Sheeran should have told Robert Kraft to 'go f--- yourself' over Macklemore

Comedian Kathy Griffin said on Wednesday that singer Ed Sheeran should have told Gillette Stadium owner and billionaire Robert Kraft to "go f--- yourself" after barring Macklemore from performing as his opening act over his "Free Palestine" stunt.

In an interview with Queerty, Griffin commented on Macklemore being pulled from the rest of Sheeran's tour earlier this month after he repeatedly pushed for a "Free Palestine" during his act and performed his anti-Israel song "Hind's Hall." The decision came after Kraft barred Macklemore from performing at Gillette Stadium.

Though Sheeran has said that the decision ultimately came from the concert promoter and venues rather than him, Griffin argued that Sheeran could have, and should have, defended Macklemore at the time.

Griffin added that Macklemore's comments were protected under the First Amendment and professed her own support for a "Free Palestine."

"I don't think 'Free Palestine' is such a controversial thing to say because that's a genuine genocide that is happening there, in my opinion. I don't want Israel to be eradicated. I love the Israeli people as I hope the rest of the world likes the American people but hates [President Donald] Trump and his cabinet and our current SCOTUS. So I can't stand [Israeli Prime Minister] Bibi Netanyahu. I think he's ruined the Knesset which is their Congress. But I certainly don't have a beef with the Jewish people or the Palestinian people. They're both trying to survive. I personally think that Palestine should be its own country," Griffin said.

Fox News Digital reached out to Sheeran's and Kraft's representatives for comment.

In response to being removed from Sheeran's tour, Macklemore announced on Thursday that he would be launching his own "Free Palestine Tour." As of now, he has three shows scheduled: in Dublin on Oct. 26, in Paris on Oct. 29 and in London on Oct. 30.

Though Macklemore has received support from progressive figures for his political actions, the singer has also faced criticism from pro-Israel organizations who accused him of supporting antisemitism.

As a result, Macklemore will no longer be allowed to subject audiences to his hateful rants. The IAC salutes and thanks Mr. Kraft for setting an example for all to follow."

Baker Mayfield leaves game after writhing in pain on turf in Tampa Bay when thumb on throwing hand injured

Baker Mayfield was trying to lead a fourth-quarterback comeback against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday when he found himself heaving a desperation fourth-down pass which got intercepted. And then something really bad happened.

As Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel was cradling the interception, back up field Mayfield was on the ground literally screaming in pain.

He clearly injured the thumb on his throwing hand.

The finger bent in a manner it should not.

After the game, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles announced Mayfield suffered a dislocated thumb.

"He'll get an MRI tomorrow just to see exactly what inside is wrong," Bowles said. "We'll know more tomorrow."

The "know more" part will determine how much rather than if Mayfield suffered ligament damage. The tests will also determine if Mayfield will need surgery.

If Mayfield needs surgery, he's probably looking at a stint on the injured reserve list, which would require him to miss four games.

His return to play will be determined by how long it eventually takes him to regain his grip.

That included an X-Ray within the Raymond James Stadium medical facility.

The Bucs turned to backup quarterback Jalon Daniels to play the final two minutes of the game, down 23-16.

Daniels, an undrafted rookie who made the club as something of a surprise, could not author the comeback win. He threw an interception on the game's final play.

The Buccaneers are 0-3 and in trouble, especially if their starting quarterback's condition means he'll miss the next month of games.

"You know, the fake news media will say I get a very bad reception," Trump said as the crowd laughed. "But we get a good reception."

"[PGA Tour CEO] Brian [Rolapp] said, 'Could you make a short speech?' I said, 'No, I don't have the courage to make a speech. These people wanna see golf. They don't wanna hear speeches.' I'll only say this: Our country is doing great, better than ever before."

The Americans entered the week having won all eight Presidents Cups played on home soil and 10 straight overall. But Team USA was also coming off a 15-13 loss to Europe at last year's Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. The last thing American golf needed was another visiting team celebrating a victory on U.S. soil.

Instead, the Americans erased a 10½-7½ deficit by winning nine of the 12 singles matches and outscoring the Internationals 9½-2½. Presidents Cup rookie Jacob Bridgeman delivered the winning point with a par putt on the 18th green.

Snedeker sent out some of his best players in the first few matches, hoping to swing the event and put pressure on the Internationals. Cameron Young led off, with Justin Thomas and Scottie Scheffler going out third and fourth.

The plan worked.

Young did his job as the leadoff man, despite falling 2 down to Ryo Hisatsune after four holes. He won five of the next 12 holes to close out a 3&2 victory.

Match play specialist Justin Thomas, who entered Sunday with a 20-10-5 career record in Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups, won five of the first six holes against Corey Conners before coasting to a 5&3 win.

Nico Echavarria gave Scheffler a little more trouble than many might have expected, but the world's No. 1 player ultimately closed out the 32-year-old Colombian, 2&1.

However, the International team wasn't going down easily. Tom Kim capped an incredible week by beating world No. 5 Wyndham Clark, finishing as the tournament's leading scorer with four points. Sungjae Im also took down world No. 8 Sam Burns.

Chris Gotterup was a major bright spot for the Americans all tournament. The 27-year-old Presidents Cup rookie defeated Christiaan Bezuidenhout 1 up and finished 3-1 for the week. He made a strong case for a spot on the 2027 Ryder Cup team in the process.

Arguably the best match of the day featured Collin Morikawa and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama. Matsuyama jumped out to a 2-up lead through six holes, but Morikawa battled back and took the lead by winning the 10th.

Matsuyama won two straight holes to move back in front, only for Morikawa to square the match again at 15. The pair tied 16 and 17, sending them to the 18th all square.

On 18, Matsuyama drove into the rough and could only advance his second shot short of the green. His pitch ran 15 feet past the hole, while Morikawa cozied a long birdie putt to within 2½ feet.

Matsuyama missed his par putt, giving Morikawa a 1-up win and the Americans a much-needed full point.

Patrick Cantlay delivered one of the afternoon's biggest moments in his match against Adam Scott, burying a 57-foot birdie putt from just off the 16th green.

The usually reserved Cantlay pumped his fist hard and yelled, "YES! YES!" to the crowd, which was going wild, sensing the gravity of the moment.

Cantlay closed out Scott on 17, 2&1. His victory and Morikawa's came moments apart, putting the U.S. ahead 13½-12½ with four matches still on the course.

With Xander Schauffele holding a commanding lead, the Americans looked set for another point. That put the pressure on rookies Jackson Koivun and Bridgeman, along with the steady veteran Russell Henley, to finish the comeback.

Koivun, a 21-year-old Presidents Cup rookie, was 2 down at the turn against Si Woo Kim, who entered Sunday tied for the tournament lead with three points. But Koivun completely flipped the match on the back nine, winning holes 11, 12, 13 and 15.

Koivun took a 1-up lead to 18, where Kim hit his approach to 15 feet. But the rookie wasn't intimidated. After driving it down the middle of the fairway, the Auburn product stuck his approach to eight feet.

Kim lipped out his birdie putt, and Koivun secured another crucial point to push the U.S. total to 14½.

Bridgeman delivered another clutch moment from an American rookie, burying an eight-foot par putt on 16. Min Woo Lee missed his four-footer for par, squaring their match with two holes to play.

With Schauffele guaranteed at least a half-point, the Americans could do no worse than a tie and needed just another half-point beyond that to win the Cup outright.

Schauffele had been 4 up with four holes to play, but lost 15 and 16, keeping the Americans waiting a little longer. Apparently, the afternoon hadn't been dramatic enough.

Schauffele's delay left the honor to Bridgeman. Fittingly, the rookie delivered, sinking his par putt on 18 to beat Lee 1 up and give the Americans the 15½ points they needed.

A "U-S-A!" chant broke out from the crowd as Bridgeman's putt dropped, and the Americans celebrated on the 18th green.

Schauffele eventually closed out Ryan Fox, 2&1, while Henley halved his match with Nick Taylor to complete the 17-13 victory.

The win was the Americans' 11th straight in the Presidents Cup and ninth in nine tries at home, improving their overall record to 14-1-1.

Of course, the Americans never should have put themselves in this position.

Eight U.S. players entered the week ranked higher than Si Woo Kim, the International team's highest-ranked player at No. 14. Seven Americans were inside the world's top 10. The visitors didn't have one.

At home, against that roster, this should have been a blowout. It certainly shouldn't have required a three-point comeback on Sunday.

Instead, the International team swept Friday's foursomes 5-0, just as it did at Royal Montreal in 2024. That turned a 3-2 U.S. lead after Thursday into a 7-3 deficit heading into Saturday.

Saturday offered opportunities to regain control. The Americans led all four matches at one point in each of the day's two sessions, but finished with just a 4½-3½ edge. That still left them down three entering Sunday.

Clark finished 1-4 for the week, while Henley went winless in three matches, earning just a half-point.

American men won just one major in 2026, courtesy of Clark at the U.S. Open. That followed last year's embarrassing Ryder Cup loss at Bethpage Black.

And the next Ryder Cup sends Team USA to Adare Manor in Ireland in 2027, tasked with doing something the Americans haven't done since 1993: winning on European soil.

Sunday singles should give the Americans some confidence heading to Ireland. They won that session 7½-4½ at the 2024 Presidents Cup and 8½-3½ at last year's Ryder Cup before hammering the Internationals 9½-2½ at Medinah.

But Bethpage already showed that even a great Sunday might not be enough. Team USA needs to clean up its play in the team formats, particularly foursomes, and stop leaving itself so much work to do on the final day.

Police hunt sexually violent predator who vanished after GPS 'tamper mode' alert

A convicted child sex offender was still missing Sunday, two days after his GPS monitor sounded a tamper alert at a San Diego worksite and supervisors arrived to find him gone, authorities said.

Merle Wakefield, 69, was working in Rancho Bernardo when his device alerted to "Tamper Mode" at about 3:30 a.m. Friday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

Liberty Healthcare, the state contractor supervising him, responded to the location and found the device removed and Wakefield gone. The company notified the sheriff’s office and San Diego police.

The sheriff’s office said Sunday it "shares the community’s concerns over Merle Wakefield’s disappearance" and was still actively looking for him.

"We have been working diligently to locate him," the agency said. It asked the public to report any sightings or information that could help find Wakefield.

"It’s been more than 48 hours since Merle Wakefield took off his GPS monitor and walked away. He’s still out there," San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond wrote Sunday on Facebook. He called Wakefield "a convicted child molester and violent rapist" and accused the state of saying nothing publicly about his disappearance.

Wakefield is wanted for violating the terms of his conditional release, the sheriff’s office said. He was convicted in 1980 and 1991 of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 and rape by force, according to the agency. He has been on conditional release since November 2024.

Desmond said Wakefield was gone by the time Liberty Healthcare arrived after the GPS alert.

"That’s how easy it was," he wrote in an earlier post. "The state released him into our community in November 2024 and promised he’d be monitored and supervised. Less than two years later, he’s missing and wanted."

Local officials had warned about Wakefield’s release before it happened. A San Diego judge granted him a transient release in October 2024 rather than placing him in a designated home, Fox 5/KUSI reported at the time. It was the third attempt to place him in San Diego County.

An earlier proposal would have placed Wakefield in a Poway home near a school and park, prompting residents to rally against it, according to the outlet. Poway Mayor Steve Vaus opposed that location and argued that allowing Wakefield to live without a fixed address would make it harder for the public to know where he was.

"It’s a shell game that puts a community at risk," Vaus told Fox 5/KUSI about the transient release.

Spokesperson Tanya Sierra told the outlet that the Department of State Hospitals and Liberty Healthcare needed to find suitable housing where people granted conditional release could be closely monitored.

State Sen. Brian Jones raised his own concerns about where Wakefield would stay. He told Fox 5/KUSI that Wakefield might end up on the streets or in a hotel at taxpayer expense.

"Supposedly, he’s going to have a tracking device," Jones said at the time.

Jones had also called for an audit of California’s sexually violent predator program, the outlet reported. The audit found that about 36% of participants had violated the terms of their release. Jones criticized the program’s cost and argued that the state should keep sexually violent predators in hospitals rather than place them in communities.

The California Department of State Hospitals pushed back on criticism of the release process, telling Fox 5/KUSI that the court ultimately decides whether someone designated a sexually violent predator can be conditionally released.

The department said its supervision program used GPS monitoring, unannounced home visits and surveillance, and that breaking the rules could send someone back to a state hospital. The outlet also reported that Wakefield’s court order called for 24-hour in-person supervision wherever he stayed. That report was published before the hearing to finalize his release.

Desmond renewed his objection after Wakefield disappeared.

"I’ve fought these placements from day one," he wrote. "These people do not belong back out in the community. They belong in a state hospital or in jail. As long as Sacramento’s law keeps putting them in our neighborhoods, families are going to keep paying the price."

Wakefield is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 230 pounds and has brown eyes, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities warned anyone who sees him not to approach or contact him and to call 911 or local law enforcement.

Deshaun Watson goes from Cleveland villain to hero in Browns upset win, as home crowd turns jeers to cheers

There was a stunning upset in Cleveland on Sunday as the Browns beat the favored Carolina Panthers , but it had nothing to do with the outcome and everything to do with quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The dude turned the hometown crowd's boos to cheers.

The people who have grown to seriously dislike their starting quarterback, many of them angrily barking at him from the Dawg Pound in all sorts of unfriendly tones, were actually chanting, "Let's go Watson" before this game was over.

About the only boos Watson could hear in the second half of this one was when he was sacked during a crucial third down by Carolina edge rusher Princely Umanmielen for a seven-yard loss, but replays on the big screens showed Umanmielen grabbing and twisting Watson’s facemask without a call from an official.

There hasn't been a turnaround like this since Apple Inc. rose from near bankruptcy in the 1990s.

Watson barely heard anything other than approval from the home crowd.

Well, maybe a smattering of boos earlier.

"I was hearing the crowd, the yelling the positivity," Watson said afterward. "That's my main focus. I didn't hear any of [the boos], but at the same time, I was just trying to give them something to cheer about and we got that W so that's all that matters."

Stunning.

These words seem foreign to anyone who heard that press conference Watson gave during the preseason when he called the home crowd "disrespectful" for booing him when he injured his Achilles in 2024 and then again in the preseason when he played his first game back at Huntington Bank Field.

He added that it was "personal" between him and the crowd and having nothing to do with his performance.

And, well, it has something to do with performance. Watson's two passing touchdowns and the comeback win proved that because suddenly the folks who didn't like him very much previously seemed to approve.

But, yes, maybe some of the ire Watson felt from fans previously was because of his huge contract, and inability to live up to the money the past four years, and the NFL suspension Watson had to accept in 2022, and the reason for that suspension, which was tied to alleged sexual assaults of two dozen female massage therapists.

All of that made Browns fans unwilling to cut their quarterback a break.

But Watson seemed to win some of them back, at least for one afternoon, when his team erased a 12-10 deficit in the fourth quarter.

No, it didn't take a lot.

This was, by the way, Watson's first regular-season home game of this season and first since that 2024 game in which he ruptured his Achilles. So, a big deal.

"From the moment I woke up, just the anticipation, just the anxiousness, just everything, just to get in front of the fans, just to get here, just to get started," Watson said in describing what drove him.

"I wanted to play perfect so bad, but, you know, that's the NFL with its ups and downs ... The energy, the fans, it was amazing. They kept believing in us. They kept the energy up ... And we just continued to feed off that energy of the crowd."

The Indiana Fever limped into the postseason with zero momentum after getting blown out by 20 points against the Minnesota Lynx in their regular-season finale, and Sunday's playoff opener offered little hope.

In Game 1 of their best-of-three first-round series, the Las Vegas Aces put on a clinic, strong-arming Indy in a 102-85 rout.

Having proven they could beat the defending champions during the regular season, Indiana fans hoped to make a statement early. Instead, Las Vegas stepped on the gas from the opening tip and built a lead as large as 27 points, leaving Indiana scrambling to stay afloat for nearly the entire second half.

Las Vegas was led by a dominant performance from MVP-hopeful A'ja Wilson, who was virtually unstoppable and carried the Aces on both ends of the floor. Wilson finished with 38 points and 16 rebounds. Yet the primary story of the game was Indiana's inability to execute against a physical and disciplined playoff defense.

Indiana's backcourt spent the afternoon fighting through traps and relentless double teams.

Caitlin Clark worked her way to a double-double, racking up 15 points, 10 assists and three rebounds.

But the Aces hounded her and disrupted her shooting rhythm throughout the day. Clark made just 6 of 18 shots, including 3 from deep — committing six turnovers and picking up five fouls. Kelsey Mitchell struggled to find her scoring rhythm, too. She finished with 12 points and three assists, connecting on only 4-of-16.

With their two primary creators unable to find their rhythm, the Fever lacked the offensive firepower needed to trade baskets with a red-hot Vegas squad. Aliyah Boston led the Fever with 18 points, adding eight rebounds and dishing out four assists.

Off the bench, Sophie Cunningham provided a much-needed spark for the Fever. Cunningham scored 13 points, including three shots from beyond the arc. She offered Indiana a spark during a tough second half, but it wasn't enough to mount a real threat.

Game 2 of the series shifts home to Indianapolis Tuesday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Fever will desperately be looking to protect their home court to keep their season alive and force a Game 3.

Phillies avoid collapse, Astros sneak in as MLB Postseason is set

The chill is in the air, the days of summer feel long gone already, the weather is changing, the leaves are falling and it could only mean that one thing is on the horizon – postseason baseball.

The field was set on Sunday as baseball fans had their eyes on a handful of teams. The Philadelphia Phillies needed a win to get in and avoid a devastating collapse and the Houston Astros just needed a victory to clinch their spot in the playoffs.

Luckily, for both teams, disaster was averted.

Kyle Schwarber’s two-run double and Bryce Harper’s solo home run propelled the Phillies to a 7-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. It gave Philadelphia a wild-card berth as the team finished 88-74 on the year.

Philadelphia had lost six of its last eight games before Sunday's win.

Houston just needed a win to wrap up the American League West division title. The Astros responded with a 9-0 victory over the Athletics in Sacramento. Ethan Pecko gave Houston three innings of strong work, allowing only one hit and striking out two. The rest of the bullpen did its job to close the door. Christian Walker hit his 29th home run of the season in the sixth to bolster the Astros’ chances.

The Astros finished the year 81-81.

October baseball will finally be upon us after a wild season.

The American League division winners include the Tampa Bay Rays (AL East), Cleveland Guardians (AL Central) and the Astros (AL West). The National League division winners include the Atlanta Braves (NL East), Milwaukee Brewers (NL Central) and Los Angeles Dodgers (NL West).

The Rays, Guardians, Brewers and Dodgers each have a bye into the Division Series.

The Wild Card portion of the bracket begins Tuesday. The Braves take on the Phillies, the Astros meet the Chicago White Sox, the New York Yankees go up against the Boston Red Sox and the San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs battle it out.

The Wild Card round is a best-of-three. The Phillies and Braves begin the postseason at 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Florida Gators, Mississippi State soar, USC tumbles in latest inexplicable AP Top 25 Poll

One of college football's greatest traditions got another entry on Sunday, as the week four edition of the AP Top 25 Poll was released to mostly bemused reactions from confused fans.

And if there was any doubt that the SEC continues to enjoy some, uh, questionable, benefits based on preseason polling and perceived strength, this week's voting should put that to rest.

Unsurprisingly, one of the biggest gainers of the week was the Florida Gators, coming off an impressive 52-28 win over the Ole Miss Rebels. Florida racked up over 300 yards on the ground, forced two turnovers, and kept the ball away from Trinidad Chambliss and the powerful Ole Miss offense. After what could be a season-changing win, the Gators moved up a whopping 13 spots to No. 8, one spot ahead of the Rebels.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys were another big mover, jumping 11 spots to No. 19, as their win over the Oregon Ducks looks even better after OU's win over USC. UCLA , too, moved 14 spots into the top 25 at No. 23 thanks to a 54-3 obliteration of the Maryland Terrapins. Another surprise team through week four? The Mississippi State Bulldogs, who held on to beat Missouri and moved up eight spots to No. 16.

But speaking of Missouri, they exemplify the problem that the preseason poll and voters' pre-conceived biases have with these rankings.

The Tigers entered the season as the No. 25 team in the preseason poll and proceeded to do literally nothing of importance in the first three weeks. A 54-21 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, a 38-21 win over a bad Kansas team, and a surprisingly close 27-17 win over an atrocious Troy team.

Their reward was to move up to No. 19 heading into the game against the Bulldogs, which resulted in the 31-24 loss. Somehow, after again, looking very unimpressive for the entirety of the season, Missouri sits at ... No. 25 in the week four poll. That's the exact type of SEC-specific outcome that fans from other conferences complain about. Look bad, do nothing, lose, stay right where you were. And then brag about the number of "ranked games" and "ranked wins."

Meanwhile, Missouri has not beaten an SEC team that finished the season with a winning record since 2024 and their wins that season were over 7-6 Arkansas and 7-6 Vanderbilt.

Meanwhile, Kentucky moved up three spots to No. 24, even though their win over Texas A&M looks far less impressive than it did a week ago, with the Aggies looking more like a top 50 team this year than top 25. But the Missouri ranking has immense value, as it means their upcoming game against Florida is yet another "ranked matchup in the SEC."

Meanwhile, Iowa, who pulled up the upset win over Michigan with a last-second touchdown, moves up just three spots. Michigan went from No. 18 to unranked. Penn State dropped from No. 13 to unranked after losing to Wisconsin, who had a miraculous late touchdown pass of their own in Happy Valley, and USC fell six spots after losing to Oregon.

Nebraska is unranked because they started the preseason unranked, while advanced metric systems put the Cornhuskers at No. 16 based on their actual performance. Wake Forest beat No. 16 Louisville on the road, and their one loss was to a top-five Miami team, but they're unranked while Missouri is. There's no logic or consistency to any of it, it's just a grab bag based on eye test, preseason polls, conference affiliation, the size of a team's stadium and whatever ESPN chooses to highlight.

Again, the upside is that the AP Poll at the end of the day doesn't matter. The downside? There's no doubt that these awful rankings are used to inform the College Football Playoff selection committee's deliberations and provide fodder for "strength of schedule" and "strength of conference" and "resume wins" arguments and so on. Texas A&M, despite currently sitting at No. 39 in computer-based rankings, one spot ahead of UCF, will count as a "ranked win" for Kentucky and LSU, because preseason polls expected them to be good. They are not good.

With a full slate of big games in week five, expect more AP absurdity to come next week. After all, it's one of the sport's most cherished traditions.

An incident on Saturday is expected to raise more questions than answers.

Stewart was ejected from South Carolina’s 49-14 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide after he punched tight end Josh Ford’s helmet. He then argued with coaches on the sideline.

All of that resulted in an indefinite suspension on Sunday. South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer announced the punishment during a press conference.

"I'll make the decision on what his future looks like beyond this week here in the next day or so. Still having some meetings and talking with him, but he won't play this week versus Kentucky. There's a standard of how we do things in our program and that was not it last night," Beamer said, via 247 Sports. "It's beyond the punch. The punch is unacceptable.

"He's not the first person to ever throw a punch in the football game and he won't be the last. But it's some of the other stuff. That isn't how we do things in this program. Accountability is a core value in this program and we are all accountable to the standard, so we'll see what that looks like here going forward."

Stewart burst onto the scene during his freshman year. He had 6.5 sacks and 23 total tackles in 2024. In 2025, Stewart had 4.5 sacks and 33 total tackles.

He was a second-team All-SEC selection as voted on by coaches last year. College football expert Phil Steele also named him an honorable mention All-American.

It’s unclear when or if Stewart will return to the field this season.

South Carolina fell to 2-2 with the loss against Alabama. The Gamecocks are set to take on Kentucky this coming Saturday.

'Home Improvement' star says Patricia Richardson got 'tired' of fighting for sitcom

"Home Improvement" star Taran Noah Smith is shedding new light on why the hit 1990s sitcom came to an end.

The 42-year-old former actor was seven-years-old when he landed the role of Mark Taylor, the youngest son of Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor (Tim Allen) and his wife Jill Taylor (Patricia Richardson) in 1991.

The sitcom, which was based on Allen's stand-up comedy persona, centered on Tim, a television host known for his home improvement show, "Tool Time," and his family life with Jill, Mark and older sons Brad (Zachery Ty Bryan) and Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas).

"Home Improvement" became one of the highest-rated shows of the '90s and ran for eight seasons and aired 204 episodes. However, the show concluded in 1999 after Richardson declined to return for a proposed ninth season.

During a recent appearance on Tom Scharpling and Julia Vickerman's podcast "Outgrown" podcast, Smith reflected on his time starring on the show and weighed in on the reasons behind Richardson's departure.

Smith recalled that Richardson joined the cast as Jill just days before the pilot was taped after producers replaced Frances Fisher, the actress originally cast as Tim's wife, during rehearsals.

"When they brought Patricia in, there was just a much better chemistry," he said. "And she had her own kid. She had just given birth to twins, and she had one older kid who was about my age. She really brought a lot more of a realistic mom energy to her, and she fought throughout the whole show to keep the show more realistic."

"She would tell the writers, ‘A mother would never say this,’ and get them to change it," he added.

Smith said he "definitely" agreed with Richardson's input though he acknowledged that he and the show's other child stars weren't really involved in conversations about the script.

"They'd do a run-through of the script on Monday and then the kids would go to school usually, and they would continue to discuss the script," he said.

Smith recalled that there were creative disagreements on set after a new creative team replaced the show's original writers and producers.

"The original creators only did the first couple seasons, and then they moved on, and they brought in a whole other group of writer/producers," he remembered. "It was really Pat, the mom, who fought the good fight to make it more realistic because oftentimes it would just be something that was very out of character just to sell a joke, just to set up a joke," he continued. "It's like, ‘Wait, this is not what the characters are about.’"

Smith speculated that Allen was reluctant to appear overly controlling after witnessing what happened on another sitcom, "Roseanne." "Roseanne," which became an instant hit after it premiered in 1988, was created by "Home Improvement" co-creator Matt Williams. Like "Home Improvement," Roseanne was built around its star's stand-up comedy voice and persona.

However, Barr clashed behind-the-scenes with producers and writers, including Williams, over the direction and tone of the show. The tensions between the two led to Williams leaving after the first season. Barr later gained more influence and was credited as a creator in later seasons.

"I think Tim was overall maybe a bit worried about being a tyrant because the same creators created ‘Roseanne,’ and Roseanne took over the show and fired the creators, fired everybody," Smith recalled. "Actually, all our camera crew had been fired in one day from ‘Roseanne’ and came over to us. So, Tim was always, I think, more hands-off with that, not wanting to be tyrannical, which meant that it was a lot more on Pat to push."

"That's one of the reasons why the show ended up eventually ending, because she was just tired of it, of having to fight to make it realistic all the time," he continued.

"And Tim was getting far more money than she was," Smith added. "That was her actual way of stopping. She said she'd do a ninth season if she got paid the same amount as Tim, knowing they wouldn't do it."

Smith's recollection of why Richardson left "Home Improvement" echoes what the actress has said for years about her experience on the show and the reasons for her departure.

During a May 2024 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Richardson recalled that the creators emphasized the importance of the character of Jill and her relationship with Tim.

"When I took the job, they said it wasn’t meant to be the Tim Allen show. It was meant to be our show," she said. "I’ve always said, I don’t want to play the thankless wife."

Richardson recalled having creative disagreements with male writers over how Jill would react to specific situations, remembering one instance in which she was told, "Pat, it’s not like we don’t understand women. We’re married to them."

The actress, who earned four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for her performance as Jill, told the LA Times that she made the decision to leave the show.

Richardson told the LA Times she decided during the eighth season that it would be her last, citing a desire to spend more time with her children after her divorce and her belief that the sitcom had run its course, pointing to Jonathan Taylor Thomas' departure and declining ratings.

The actress also felt that Disney failed to recognize her creative contributions to the series, saying she helped shape her character and storylines but was denied a producer credit, even as Allen became an executive producer.

"I told everybody, there’s not enough money in the world to get me to do a ninth year. This show is over. It needs to end," Richardson recalled.

Richardson recalled that ABC unexpectedly offered to continue the show with a 25-episode ninth season. She said the network's parent company, Disney, proposed paying her a salary of $1 million an episode, while Allen would be paid $2 million an episode.

Though she recalled Allen immediately accepting the offer, she said she countered with terms that she knew the studio would reject. Richardson told the outlet that she requested equal pay with Allen and an executive producer credit.

"I knew that Disney would in no way pay me that much. That was my way to say ‘no’ and was a little bit of a flip-off to Disney," Richardson said. "I’d been there all this time, and they never even paid me a third of what Tim was making, and I was working my a-- off. I was a big reason why women were watching."

White House chief of staff Susie Wiles is opening up about the grueling reality of fighting breast cancer while holding one of Washington's most demanding jobs, revealing that some days simply getting out of bed and going to work took all the strength she had.

In an op-ed published Sunday in USA Today, Wiles described what it was like to undergo chemotherapy while continuing to lead the White House staff for President Donald Trump.

The disease occupied her thoughts from the moment she woke up and sometimes even while she slept, she wrote.

"Fighting cancer is brutal and unrelenting," Wiles wrote. Questions about treatment, test results and what might come next could overtake even a strong mind. At times, she acknowledged, they overtook hers.

Some days, Wiles said, she poured her strength into fighting the disease. On others, getting out of bed, getting dressed and going to work was its own test. "Most days, I carried the full weight of both," she wrote.

Work gave her a purpose beyond appointments, scans and side effects. "Cancer can make your world very small," Wiles wrote. She said she pushed herself to stay focused on the people who depended on her, even as she knew others might question whether she could still lead effectively.

The treatment did take a toll on her stamina, mobility and, at times, her focus. Wiles said she could not always be everywhere she wanted to be. Wiles made clear that working through treatment would not be right or possible for everyone. For her, she wrote, the job helped her hold on to a sense of who she was beyond the disease.

After successful surgery, pathology showed no residual cancer, Wiles wrote. She said she now faces the work of rebuilding what treatment took from her.

For others going through treatment, Wiles offered a message of hope. "Cancer does not have to take away who you are," she wrote. She said that for her, life beyond the disease includes serving Trump and the country and being a mother, grandmother and friend.

One of those daughters, Katie Wiles, responded to her mother’s account on X. "A strong woman isn’t loud in her strength; she’s steady and unshakable," she wrote. "You are our champion. So incredibly proud of you, Mom."

The collapse of Drake Maye's game continued on Sunday and it was so complete and troubling that coach Mike Vrabel pulled his quarterback with about eight minutes to play.

It was the right move because the Patriots were getting run out of the stadium by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who eventually authored a convincing 35-6 victory.

But it was best for Maye, who accounted for two interceptions and a lost fumble in the game and left Vrabel sounding kind of worried.

"Well, my concern level is very high for this football team," the coach said.

"We have to take care of the football," Vrabel said. "We can't, we can't force things ... I think he knows what to do. You know what I mean? I think we have to do it better, you know?

"And again, we all want to make plays. We just have to make them good ones. And, if it's not there, we got to make a great decision."

Great decisions do not involve throwing the ball to the other team.

But Maye's decisions have been questionable.

The three turnovers on Sunday is increasingly typical of how Maye is playing so far this season because he had three in the season-opener against the Seattle Seahawks and had another last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"The ball stars rolling like that, we can't get out our own way," Maye lamented. "I can't get out of my own way personally.

It's good that Maye is looking where the biggest problem is. It means he's a capable leader even at only 24 years old.

"I got to start with myself and then lead these guys and we got to get back after it," he said.

But time is short. The Patriots are 1-2 and already teammates are getting questions about Maye's status in the locker room.

Stunning, but this is the NFL.

"Everybody in that locker room and the organization and in the building believes in him and that's really all that matters," cornerback Christian Gonzalez said. "Obviously, he wants to perform and do that for his team.

"So, with Drake, we're behind him. That's our quarterback. Like I said, this team goes and we ride behind him. So that's our guy and that ain't changing."

The Patriots this year are different in that their schedule is more difficult than last year. And the move to release Stefon Diggs and trade for A.J. Brown hasn't paid off because Brown got injured in the season-opener and hasn't played since.

"I mean, listen, the NFL is hard," CBS analyst Adam Archuleta said. "... They're going to have to play their way out of this. And Drake Maye is going to have to play his way out of this."

Archuleta went on to make the point that Maye seemingly raised his game in a game at the Buffalo Bills last year.

The Patriots visit the Bills next Sunday afternoon.

Israel and Ireland competed against each other in a highly contentious Nations League match on Sunday in Hungary.

Ireland faced pressure to boycott the match from fans at home over Israel’s response in Gaza following the Oct. 7, 2023, terror attacks committed by Hamas terrorists that left nearly 1,200 people dead.

Ireland’s soccer federation said in June that its home game against Israel was going to be moved to a neutral field with no fans present. It followed the organization’s initial motion to UEFA to ban Israel from club and international play.

Regardless, the efforts to ban Israel were proven futile and the match was played on Sunday in Debrecen.

Irish players made a point to protest, however. The Irish team wore black armbands and looked down at the grass with their hands behind their backs during the playing of the Israeli national anthem.

Ireland’s captain, Dara O’Shea, approached midfield for the pre-match talk with his hands behind his back. He shook hands with the officials but made no effort to shake hands with Israeli players.

At least one Irish player decided to skip the match and leave the team altogether. Goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu said he refused to play against Israel because of his "personal belief that the killing of innocent people is wrong."

"It is important to note that my stance is not in opposition of the Israeli people or the Jewish community but against the atrocities in the region," he added.

It’s unclear if Bazunu had any strong reaction to the terror attack that occurred in Israel nearly three years ago.

Ireland has been one of Israel’s most outspoken critics against the war in Gaza. Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin condemned antisemitism in an interview with Fox News Digital but said Israel’s military response was "absolutely disproportionate."

Ultimately, Irish players voted to play the match after four hours of conversations and a vote, according to Football Association of Ireland (FAI) CEO David Courell.

Israel is set to play each of its Nations League matches in Debrecen. Israel’s Football Association said in a statement that politics and sports should be kept apart.

Ireland went on to win the match, 3-0.

Major League Baseball is eyeing its next massive showcase, trading concrete jungles and overpriced stadium beer for pine trees and the iconic peaks of Grand Teton National Park.

Specialty neutral-site games have been massive hits for MLB, but when word leaked that the league was sniffing around federal land, Washington rushed to pump the brakes.

In an official statement, the White House confirmed MLB approached President Donald Trump's administration to ask about hosting a game in a national park, "similar to the Field of Dreams game" in Iowa.

"This is not a Presidential directive, nor is it being directed by the White House. It’s also not being driven by the Department of Interior," the statement read.

"Therefore, this is not a White House or Administration priority."

The White House made sure to add that the National Park Service hasn't granted a single permit, and MLB hasn't finalized a shred of venue planning.

"If the MLB wants to go on site visits of national parks, that is their prerogative," the administration noted.

Washington isn't endorsing a national park game just yet, probably out of fear of taking the heat if a grizzly bear wanders into left field.

Baseball fans ate up the Field of Dreams game in Iowa, the Little League Classic in Williamsport, and the historic trip to Rickwood Field in Alabama.

They even took over Bristol Motor Speedway in 2025.

National Park Service Deputy Director Frank Lands reportedly visited Wyoming to inspect three prospective sites inside Grand Teton.

The White House later claimed Lands wasn't actively scouting baseball diamonds, insisting he was just on a routine tour of several parks.

Still, trying to turn a dusty federal maintenance yard into a million-dollar TV spectacle sounds like an absolute logistical nightmare. You're talking temporary grandstands, massive light towers, crazy traffic bottlenecks, and keeping local grizzly bears, bison and elk out of the dugout.

A project like this triggers environmental reviews, public comment periods, and mountains of paperwork before anyone touches a shovel.

Factor in that MLB’s 2027 special-event schedule is already locked, and 2028 is the absolute earliest we’d see a big-league pop fly framed by the Teton Range.
