Bill Ayers faced many serious felony bombing charges (see below) but never went to trial.  The charges – in which several were injured – were dropped because of improper surveillance.  If there was a Constitutional violation, that decision was correct as difficult as it may be for many to accept.  Those are the rules. 

Had Ayers been tried, and convicted for the crimes alleged (see below), chances are he would still be in prison these many decades later.

So it is sort of ironic that Ayers is now talking about who should and should not be prosecuted.  He seems like a guy who should not have a say in this one.  He says President Obama and other modern Presidents should be prosecuted for war crimes. 

Ayers just seems like the one person who might want to stay away from making judgments on who and who should not be prosecuted.  He is very lucky the Constitution protected him from decades of imprisonment.

  I guess he forgot his own history?  and how he ‘dodged the bullet?’

Charges against Ayers were ”conspiracy to bomb police stations and government buildings”

Charges were dropped in 1974 due to improper surveillance.

The Weathermen claimed responsibility for 12 bombings between 1970 and 1974.

William Ayers says that he participated in these 3 bombings:

 –New York City Police Headquarters in 1970

–The Capitol building in 1971

–The Pentagon in 1972.

June 9, 1970:

New York City Police Headquarters

–Bomb with the power of 10-15 sticks of dynamite explodes on the second floor of police headquarters.

–7 are injured and heavy damage is done to offices.

March 1, 1971

Capitol building, Washington, DC

–Bomb causes $100,000 damage

–No one is injured in the 1:30am explosion

May 19, 1972

Pentagon

–An explosive device was detonated in a section of the Pentagon building, causing damage estimated at $75,000

–No injuries in the early morning bombing

(And by the way, before you read the answer below…..tell me after you have read it whether I am correct or not)

Everyone should be delighted to read the deficit cut by 197 B, right?   Anything that puts us on a better national finance path is good.   And those here illegally get to stay with a path of some sort – so that makes many happy.  OK..let’s secure the borders and do this deal.

By the way, securing the borders is a sticking point for Republicans – why does anyone oppose securing borders if it means that those who are here have a path to legality (I think most people here illegally want to make sure they can sleep at night without fearing ICE is going to drag them out of bed and deport them.)

WASHINGTON – House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) issued the following statement on Ranking Member Elijah Cummings’ announced intention to post the full investigative interview of IRS employee John Shafer on the Internet in the middle of an ongoing investigation into the facts and origins of IRS efforts to target Tea Party groups:

“I am deeply disappointed that Ranking Member Cummings has decided to broadly disseminate and post online a 205 page transcript that will serve as a roadmap for IRS officials to navigate investigative interviews with Congress. After unsuccessfully trying to convince the American people that IRS officials in Washington did not play a role in inappropriate scrutiny of Tea Party groups and declaring on national television that the case of IRS targeting was ‘solved’ and Congress should ‘move on,’ this looks like flailing. Americans who think Congress should investigate IRS misconduct should be outraged by Mr. Cummings’ efforts to obstruct needed oversight.

“In the course of this fact based inquiry, Ranking Member Cummings has wrongly argued that questions about IRS conduct are somehow not legitimate. His own previous release of excerpts from this very same transcript undermines his claims that the Committee is somehow trying to keep some specific revelation from public view.”
