The chief judge of D.C.’s federal court issued an unusual order on Wednesday, apologizing to the public and the media for not making certain court documents widely available online.

The gesture of transparency by U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth comes at a time when the Obama Administration is under scrutiny for an unprecedented number of leak investigations, including one that showed that the Justice Department had secretly probed the newsgathering activities of Fox News reporter James Rosen.

 The investigation of Rosen was first reported on Monday, after The Washington Post obtained court documents that described details of the case. A federal judge had ordered the documents unsealed in November 2011, but they were kept sealed for 18 months and not posted on the court’s online docket until last week, after The Post inquired about them.

Lamberth blamed a series of administrative errors and said a review of the “performance of the personnel involved is underway.” He also said he was creating a new category on the court’s website where all search and arrest warrants will be made public unless they fall under a separate sealing order.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorney General Eric Holder says four American citizens have been killed in drone strikes since 2009.

The attorney general said that in conducting U.S. counterterrorism operations against al-Qaida and its associated forces, the government has targeted and killed one American citizen, Anwar al-Awlaki.

In a letter to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, Holder says the U.S. is also aware of three other American citizens who have been killed in such counterterrorism operations over the same time period.

On Sunday I had the great honor to speak to the graduates of Georgetown Law Center’s 2013 graduates.  I was awarded an Honorary Degree: Doctor of Laws.  It is particularly fun because Georgetown Law Center is where I went to law school and because it is always EXTRA fun to get a degree from a law school you could no longer get into.

Of course, I immediately informed my family that I need to be called “DOCTOR” from now on.

And, of course, the minute I walked into the house from the ceremony with my new degree in hand, I got screamed at by the cats to feed them (and immediately, not later) and the dogs all jumped on me like I was another dog.  The animals were, in short, unimpressed, and as demanding as ever.

So….back to normal…but it was fun while it lasted…the drive home!

A source close to the leak investigation involving our colleague James Rosen.. confirms that one of the numbers listed in the Government’s discovery matches James Rosen’s parents number in Staten Island exactly..   (all 10 numbers match).

As for the Fox bureau numbers – and other numbers.. we did not go down them one by one.    But.. the source confirmed the numbers matched various extensions at the DC bureau – the State Department booth – the Fox News Pentagon booth.. and other Fox numbers as well… in addition to James’ cellphone.   (There are other cellphone numbers on here that could be other Fox News Employees.. we did not have the cross reference to check those)

“As of May, the government has handed over sixteen thousand two hundred and eighty-six pages of unclassified documents and three thousand two hundred and three pages of classified documents to the defense in the Kim case. Because many of the filings are under seal, it is not possible to determine what other information was collected in the leak investigation.”

“….As always, Oprah was the first media figure to appear on the list in the number 13 spot, followed by New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson at 19. Only two broadcasters appeared on the list: ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, who was ranked number 73, and Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren, who was ranked number 97…”

It is fun for me to be in the company of these very successful women.  I know how hard they have worked and the contributions they each have made to break the glass ceiling for women.  ABC’s Diane Sawyer’s enormous success in the news business has made it easier for me and I appreciate it.    I hope that I can make it easier for other women, too (and yes, for men, too.) 

Here is a ‘dirty little secret’ and advice to women in the work place — some women are very generous to other women in the work place, others want to slit your throat and try to undermine you.   Young women need to find those women in the work place who enjoy the success of other women — and get advice from them, get guidance etc.   It is fun to work together and enjoy others’ success.

Rep Adam Schiff, a Democrat and member of the House Intelligence Committee, spoke to reporters on cam following a (still ongoing) closed session on Benghazi with the CIA’s Mike Morrell.

Schiff said Morrell helped illuminate the thinking behind the talking points editing process. In his view the briefing yet again cleared the administration of any claims that they intentionally misled or hid information from Congress and that it was an intel-community friend process.

He said that Susan Rice is indeed owed an apology, arguing that she was only going off information the CIA had provided her. To deviate from the talking point would therefore have been wrong, he said.

He said he asked Morell about the suspects being held in Libya but could not say more on the matter.

As you all know, the Obama Administration (DOJ) seized phone and email records of Fox News Channel in NYC, DC and that of a correspondent (James Rosen.)  Ordinarily I would think….well, that is one rogue prosecutor, one investigation even though it is overreaching and bizarre at best.  

Today I am stepping back and thinking about a few things.  

It seems to me the Justice Department’s reaction to Fox News Channel with the subpoena of the records might not be isolated bad conduct by one prosecutor, one agency.  I am now suspicious (but not certain.)

Remember last October when the State Department put everyone in the media on a conference call to talk Benghazi except Fox News?  That was the STATE DEPARTMENT that time.  We only learned about the State Department conference call for the media because other news organizations (our friends) ratted out State.   State Department claimed it was inadvertent, an oversight.    I thought it weird at the time and an effort to punish Fox News Channel for aggressive reporting on Benghazi but had no proof.

And there is more.  

A short time after the State Department snub, and in early November, the CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY (CIA) invited everyone in the media except Fox News, to a briefing on Benghazi?  Why were we excluded?  I assumed punishment for doing our jobs. 

So now we have 3 major agencies:  1/ Justice Department, 2/ State and 3/ CIA.  Coincidence? or Systemic?  and is this part of a plan?
