Nick Zanini served in Europe during World War II.  James Homme served in Korea. </p>

<p>In Beirut, Lebanon, I witnessed the impact of torture during a visit to the Restart  Centre for Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence and Torture.  “Restart” offers specialized services for victims of torture and their families. <a href="http://iraqivoices.intersectionsinternational.org/">The IVAP team</a> visited with four Iraqi torture victims and listened to their stories of pain and grace.  Images of the torture victims have been blurred to conceal their identity.</p>

<p>While in Lebanon, we visited Byblos, an ancient city just north of Beirut. It is believed by many to be the oldest continuously-inhabited city in the world. It is was also a great place for the IVAP team to get a sense of the historical depth that is woven into the fabric of the Middle East.</p>
