Everyone has had that moment that they turn the key and you don’t hear that satisfying noise that lets you know the car is up and running. Then you start to realize that you left your headlights on and your battery is completely dead. In those cases you have to grab the jumper cables and find someone to jump start your car. That means standing outside and hooking up the cables too, which is never fun in the dead of winter. Well now you can jump start your car all by yourself with a very small and easy to store gadget, without running the risk of electrocuting yourself.

The SelfCharge Auto Jumper hooks up inside of your car through your car’s cigarette lighter. After it’s hooked up it’ll take it less than ten minutes to get your car up and running. The device itself is rechargeable and can be recharged up to 500 different times. It will even work as a portable back up charger for cellphones, laptops and other smaller gadgets you carry around. It’s small enough to fit right under the passenger seat for easy storage and will only cost you $45 Bucks, which is a small cost for the peace of mind that comes with this. If that’s a bit too much for you, there’s a version that also plugs in through the cigarette lighter that requires a second car to charge your car for only $25 Bucks.

Gateway has released its latest range of entertainment notebooks that are known as the NV series, targeting power users who want the latest technologies in notebooks without breaking the bank. While summer’s just kicked in and nobody’s about to head off to school just yet, picking up the Gateway NV series notebook right now isn’t exactly a bad thing at all - after all, just how obsolete can a notebook get within a couple of months? Gateway touts that their new NV Series is more than ready to deliver multitasking performance which will handle popular everyday tasks with aplomb, offering a choice between Intel or AMD processors, depending on which side of the camp you’re on.

In addition, prices start from netbook levels at just $499.99, helping those on a tight budget maximize their buck. Avid movie buffs will definitely find the Gateway NV to be an ideal machine for watching their favorite shows on the go thanks to a 15.6″ High Definition LED-backlit TFT Widescreen display which offers a true cinematic viewing experience, courtesy of a resolution at 1,366 x 768 and a 16:9 aspect ratio. In addition, you also get to enjoy the notebook’s Dolby Sound Room that offers spectacular surround sound from the two integrated stereo speakers. For folks who prefer to output their content to the living room monstrous TV, the inclusion of an HDMI port helps deliver crisp high-quality visuals and high-fidelity audio through a convenient, single cable connection.

You will also benefit from Wi-Fi b/g Draft-N Certified connectivity that keeps you up to speed, especially on Draft-N networks. Not only that, each Gateway NV Series notebooks comes with a convenient MyBackup Button, helping you stash away all your important files at the touch of a button to another location for safekeeping, be it a USB flash drive (better make sure it is large enough), an external hard drive, or even to another hard drive partition. With more and more people living in their cars on a daily basis in today’s tight labor market, we are finding it more and more cumbersome when it comes to dragging all of our gadgets around with us wherever we go. And considering that most countries have that whole “no handhelds law while driving”, you need something to hold the mobile devices. Of course, I assume laws like that were made so drivers would not be distracted, but I can’t think of anything more distracting than this device that looks like a baby’s mobile. But if you are looking for something that will hold it all and do it all at the same time, this one will definitely appeal to you.

Despite it’s cumbersome look, this really is a handy device for holding a cellular phone, a satellite navigation system, and an MP3 player. Yes, this one thing can pretty much do it all and attach to the windshield with a strong suction cup. From there, all three goosenecks can adjust for all sorts of mobile views. Outside of hanging onto your coffee cup as well, or physically taking notes for you while you drive, this simple device seems to answer more than a few problems at once.

If you want to get your paws on this one, head over to the USB Fever Website. You might be wondering: what does a USB have to do with this product? Absolutely nothing. Just shell out $29.99 for the Super Universal Car Mount!

Are you one who loves working out every single day, regardless of what the weather is like? If you happen to love a good workout, then the Concept2 SkiErg for Nordic Ski Training ought to be your cup of tea, as it doesn’t matter what season is it out there at the moment as you are able to gain a reasonably challenging workout routine right smack in the comfort of your living room.

Just like the Concept2 Indoor Rower, the Concept2 SkiErg will help athletes build strength and endurance in a sport-specific motion, and as the name suggests, the Concept2 SkiErg will offer avid skiers a method to put to test their fitness levels in a way that is not impacted by terrain or snow conditions. An ergometer, or “erg” for short, is actually a device that has the ability to measure work (boy, won’t all bosses wish they could have this installed in every office at individual cubicles to see just how much “work” of a different nature is done compared to the amount of Facebooking and instant messaging).

Each SkiErg will come with a Performance Monitor that offers skiers accurate, comparable feedback. All these information can be harnessed by skiers to assess output, monitor progress, and compare scores with others if they want to challenge themselves and always aim for a higher level of perfection. Perfect for testing fitness in a manner that won’t be impacted by terrain or snow conditions.

The SkiErg is able to offer a comprehensive exercise programs, where each pull will engage the legs, arms, shoulders and core in a downwards “crunch,” making sure your body is well oiled with sweat once you’re done with it. All pulls will finish by extending the arms down along the hips with knees partly bent. This low-impact, high calorie-burning exercise is suitable for all ages and abilities, so age is not a problem here. Interested parties will have to fork out $730 including shipping to bring the SkiErg home. Sound steep? It’s not that bad when you consider all that is offered.

I remember back in my day when a we just had normal blow up chairs in the pool. Normally they were the kind you have to lay flat on too. Now all these crazy kids have their new fangled technology tossed in. They can’t just have a normal blow up chair, no, they need speakers and cup holders. Well this blow up gadget would definitely make for a relaxing day out at the pool. Especially since you’ll have you tunes handy and playing right by your head. And so here you have a gadget that truly is for the guy who has everything…including a pool. There is absolutely nothing this chair can’t do, and in the water no less, and short of a built in butler, this is the only thing you will need when you are taking some me time. It also has a vibrating massager that targets your lower and upper back as well as your thighs and calves.

It has a spot to hold your iPod or MP3 player that will keep it safe, it stores it within a built-in waterproof dock. There’s an attached remote that fits into the armrest to control the massager, but no such remote to take care of the MP3 player. Which means you’ll have to either deal with a song or brave taking it out of the waterproof area to change the song. To keep the lounger powered it requires 4 AA batteries which is actually pretty good considering all that it does.

But keep that in mind if you are keen on the massage component, as this may not lead you to the most intense massages ever. If you like it though, it’ll cost you $199.95 from Hammacher and Schlemmer.

Gone are the days where Blackberry’s and the like were reserved for the business person. And if you are wanting to go the lengths of a smartphone, but don’t need something too flashy, the Nokia 6730 promises to deliver on all fronts. Nokia has, in recent memory, revealed classic versions of its handsets from the same model number, and this time round it’s the 6730 classic that will ship sometime this month, available worldwide exclusively in countries where Vodafone is a mobile carrier. Some of the more interesting features made available on the new Nokia 6730 classic would be mobile Internet, Vodafone Music Client and personal and business email access alongside mobile navigation capabilities.

All of these will be powered by the Symbian S60 operating system, enabling customers to download additional applications straight from the Internet to suit their needs. No longer do you need to get lost whenever you enter into unfamiliar territory with the Nokia 6730 classic, courtesy of its integrated GPS navigation. Just make sure you have subscribed to some sort of unlimited data plan if you want to take full advantage of it. Mobile navigation capabilities offered on the handset include accurate turn-by-turn instructions, allowing one to use but an address, a company or even a person to find their destination through the use of a comprehensive point of interest databases as well as both white and yellow pages information. You will be able to choose from either black or white colors for the Nokia 6730 classic, and this is the perfect upgrade for users of the older Nokia 6500c or 6300 which were released quite some time ago. After all, shouldn’t your contract for either handset be up by now, allowing you to make a new choice?

There is no word on pricing as at press time, but that will depend on which country it is released in as well as how long you want to tie yourself down to a particular contract for. Bear in mind this isn’t a high-end handset, but is functional enough to be above average - those who want something flashier would do well to consider an iPhone 3G or the upcoming Palm Pre instead.

If you are like me, the bugs and creepy things in the summer is the absolute worst part of the season, and the only bad part as far as I am concerned. But as I live in the country, this is one battle I have to muddle through and “wing it” as each pest arrives. With summer having arrived, it is time to start the annual battle with pesky insects as well as other creepy crawlies who love to do nothing better than irritate you out of your skin by their mere presence in and around your home. Apart from keeping a huge collection of anteaters as well as spiders to capture those winged nemesis of yours, why not consider the Insect Repeller instead? This one is a godsent as far as I am concerned.

Insect Repeller is a small handheld environmentally-friendly gadget that plugs into any main socket and emits an advanced high power variable ultrasonic wave and an electromagnetic wave to ward off unwanted pests and protect you and your home. Inaudible to humans and harmless to your pet cat and dog, the ultra sonic pest repeller consumes very little power and outdates messy traps and chemically-laden sprays. Once plugged in and switched on this 2-in-1 insect and rodent repeller protects 250 square meters, which is roughly the size of the average three bedroom home, giving you a healthy amount of breathing space between you and world’s critters. This is ingenious to me, and is $13 bucks well spent, many times over, if you too get the willies from creepy crawly things.

With the advent of technology when it comes to flat screen displays, you may be pleased to find out that the innovation curve has not ended just yet. Granted, a name like Majestic Mirror and Frame might not be recognized among consumers as a company that produces flat panel displays, but those in the know will realize that this is a leader in framed and back lit mirrors for the hospitality industry. Imagine having Majestic Mirror and Frame work together with ToteVision, the industry’s premier manufacturer of small screen, commercial-grade LCD TVs and monitors, resulting in a spanking new Mirrored TV solution specially meant for the hospitality market.

This new product line can be found in virtually any shape or size, specifically manufactured to the tune of their customer’s song. It will feature best-in-class mirror components alongside the state of the art LCD TV technology to a superior Mirrored TV experience in the hospitality industry without burning huge holes in a company’s budget. Majestic’s Mirrored TVs will come in two standard design variations, where the first is a seamless vanishing mirror while the other will be a slightly seamed vanishing mirror with reflective mirror plating. Both models are fully customizable, being able to take on virtually any workable shape or size, leveraging plenty on its low-profile design depth that measures approximately 1.5″.

Installation is also a no-brainer, taking mere minutes to install, which will further reduce labor costs by a rather significant amount especially when you’re a hotel with thousands of rooms that will be upgraded with this. If you are wondering yourself where you can take advantage of this technology, you will find the Magic Mirror with the world’s leading hospitality franchises including Marriott, Starwood, Hyatt, Ritz Carlton, Hilton, Sheraton and many more.

Garmin is a household name when it comes to GPS navigation devices, and today they have yet another two models available to the masses - the Oregon 550 and Oregon 550t. Both of these devices will be touchscreen enabled, where they will also be accompanied by a 3.2 megapixel digital camera that will help you snap memorable shots wherever you go just in case you forgot to pack your dedicated digital camera with you. In addition, this mode also enables you to create geotagged images on the spot. Another interesting feature is the 3-axis compass that will accompany the the popular series of intuitive touchscreen handhelds. Not only do the Garmin Oregon 550 and Garmin Oregon 550 get you places, it boasts a waterproof case so that you can still find your way around even though it is raining.

The 3.2 megapixel autofocus digital camera you get is also equipped with a 4x digital zoom, and the device itself is also equipped with 850MB of internal memory, which is more than enough space for you to store all your photos as well as locations. These images can then be downloaded onto a computer or external storage device later on, where they can be printed or stored and shared online. Transferring images is a no brainer - make sure your Oregon 550 is connected via USB, where you can use the my.Garmin.com site to detect Oregon’s photos. This site will help simplify the selection and uploading processes, subsequently storing the selected photos on Picasa for friends and family with an Internet connection to view them.

I also like the inclusion of a 3″ sunlight-readable touchscreen that is found on both the Oregon 550 and Oregon 550t, where the latter boasts the added advantage of pre-loaded 100K topo maps for the entire U.S. in state-of-the-art 3D elevation perspective. Garmin has good reason for including the 3-axis tilt-compensated electronic compass, as it is still able to display your heading even when you’re stationary. The Garmin Oregon 550 and Garmin Oregon 550t will retail for $499.99 and $599.99, respectively.

TriGem USA has just made available yet another player in the already crowded notebook market - the Averatec N2700. This new mobile computing device will not skimp when it comes to features, and TriGem USA has made an extremely attractive offer for it which we’ll look at in closer detail at the end of the post. For the moment, let’s take a look at what the Averatec N2700 has to offer, shall we?

For starters, this model will feature an Intel dual-core processor running at 2GHz, a 250GB hard drive and an 8x super multi DVD optical drive, all running on Microsoft Vista Home Premium. There doesn’t seem to be too much in terms of selling features that this Netbook can’t offer, and is pretty sweet on all of the things you are looking for in terms of price, portability, and performance as well. It’s larger and more powerful than a typical netbook computer and offers great portability over notebooks sporting 13-inch screens and larger. One certainly cannot deny that, since it is much beefier compared to a standard netbook, and yet it won’t break the bank with the relatively affordable $699 price point, where we’ve seen some higher end netbooks in the past retailing for approximately that price and yet lack the processing muscle to boot up Internet Explorer 8 in a fast and seamless manner.

There is one drawback that the Averatec N2700 (and any other standard notebook for that matter) is unable to compete in – the size of the netbook will always win out, at least for the moment. Other features of the N2700 includes a whopping 4GB RAM, integrated 802.11b/g wireless connectivity along with 10/100/1000 Mb/s wired networking. You will also benefit from a trio of USB 2.0 ports, while a FireWire port is there for folks to transfer their large multimedia files from devices such as camcorders over at a much faster rate compared to USB 2.0. Don’t expect this to be a head turner though, but it does look like it offers a whole lot of bang for your buck.
