Social Media Mucho Influential To Generation Y Buying Decisions

According to Digital Marketer, by 2017 Generation Y (will have more spending power than any other demographic. The Millennial Generation, Millennials, or Generation Y demographic is generally accepted to be those born in the 1980′s and 1990′s and they will be the attention of many marketers in about five years, spending more money on “stuff” than anyone else.

They have also grown up with social media influence unlike any other group before them. Digital Marketer also quotes statistics stating that 84% of them review products and services using social media before they buy…and Bazaar Voice says that over 50% of this generation take the advice of their social media connections above that of their family and friends when it comes to purchases.

Every time I read something on social media it reinforces the fact that you have to ramp up your social presence online if you want to compete in the marketplace of the future…and we’re talking the near future too, not 10-15 years out. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Linked-In, Google+…they are already influential in your prospective customers’ buying decisions. These sites, or some new start-up like them will only become more influential over the next few years, so businesses need to embrace them. They need their own strong social media presence.

If you need a hand to kick-start or manage your social media properties to influence the Y Generation or one of the other 50% + consumers who are on social media in Canada and The US right now, don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll help you get a leg up on your competition.

Making Sense of AdSense

Begun in June 2003, Adsense offers anyone with any type of website the ability to generate some income using their website or blog. It is an advertisement program that anyone who owns a website can use – the only condition is that it must be approved by Google before any ads are published.

Adsense ads are a contextual advertising, which mean the advertisements that appear are based on the website’s surrounding content, i.e. the ads are related to the content on the pages they appear on.

Just so you know, Adsense is only half of Google’s advertisement system. The other half is Google’s Adwords, a pay-per-click advertisement program. In any pay-per-click advertisements, an advertiser places an ad based on the keywords that are related to his or her site, products or services. The advertiser places a daily budget on how much they are willing to pay for someone to click their ad. The more popular a keyword is will be the more it’s going to cost the advertiser and the cost for each keyword is determined through a bidding process like an auction.

What AdSense Ads Will Appear On My Site?

Please keep in mind that pay-per-click (CPC) ads will appear by default, and cost-per-impression (CPM) ads will only appear if an advertiser has bid to run ads on your site through placement targeting. At this time, it’s not possible to request cost-per-impression ads for your site or set your account to be paid only on a per impression basis. Anyone who displays an ad for Adsense is considered a publisher and anyone who places an ad is considered an advertiser.

No sales copy is perfect, and ‘copywriting tips‘ can mean a lot of different things to a lot of people. There are thousands of sales and copywriting tricks that are taught throughout the industry. Most of these are short-lived and may not work for long. Some of them have never worked, but sound reasonable enough that unsuspecting businesspeople will buy tips and information from people claiming to be copywriting experts.

There are a few general copywriting tips that will make your text more appealing to the reader, whether you are writing sales copy or informational material. Actually, everything you write should be considered a form of sales copy, it just shouldn’t all look that way. Some of your copy will be more subtle, like an information piece that offers valuable material, but all should give a clear call to action that leads the reader or viewer or listener one step closer to a sale.

Think of every piece of content you put out as the only thing your prospects will ever see about your business. You need to give them a trail to follow that could eventually lead to a sale.

Using the following copywriting tips should give your content more longevity and make it more appealing to the reader.

- Video: Online consumers like to process information through video. The staggering success of sites like YouTube attest to this fact. Video that is strategically placed within your copy does wonders to engage your readers/viewers. Many internet entrepreneurs are doing away with sales copy altogether on their sales pages and opting for video only. Some say it converts better than the same video with written copy included.

Videos can include slides and music, live action, you standing in front of the camera saying your piece, or even a powerpoint presentation where you just read the words that are appearing on screen. This method has the viewer both read and watch the presentation, giving a higher probability that they will remember it.

- Photos: Photographs or other graphic representations like graphs or drawings can also help highlight certain points you want to make during the copywriting process. They add design appeal to your content, and are easy to change if you want a fresh look.

- Fonts: Probably the simplest alteration of your sales copy that you can make, but it can have a big impact. It is so easy that most copywriters pay little attention to it, making a tough enough job even tougher by assuming that the most complicated ideas are always the best. You need to make sure you are using fonts that work well in all browsers if using the internet…and don’t pick anything that isn’t clearly easy to read.

- Keywords: When writing for the internet, using proper keywords and keyword strategies, which will be the topic of another post in the future, will be the number one tool you have to drive visitors to your website. The Google Keyword Tool can help you find keywords that people are searching regularly and give you an idea of how much competition there is for a given keyword. This may be the most important online copywriting tip of all…it’s certainly the cornerstone on which most sales copy and copywriting is based.

- Freshen Your Content: Changing videos and images is one way to do this. however, changing text can make a difference as well. Rewrite part of your copy. Use different wording. Change the keywords you are targeting, especially if they are not getting you the traffic you were looking for.

You need to constantly be looking for ways to make your copy better. People get bored with the same old stuff and want to see something new. Even small and easy to implement changes can keep it fresh and stimulate interst in your product or service.

Keeping your content and sales copy a bit different and more appealing will set you apart from the competition and not just attract new clients but keep your current clients engaged, leading to the reason for it all…more sales and additional income.

I hope these copywriting tips were helpful! If you would like to discuss working with us so you don’t have to learn all this stuff yourself…contact us and we’ll be happy to discuss whether or not we are the right fit for you and your business!
