The RLCAB, or Real Legal Code Agreement Builder, is composed by 25 questions, which can be either answered just with a YES or a NO, or choosing from a menu. We haven’t ended yet our RLCA Builder, but it will be soon. Meanwhile, we want to introduce to you some of the questions.

The first one relates to the “Additional Terms” you might want to have along with your Real Legal Code Agreement (that’s your Terms of Service, or Terms of Use). Having such a clause is very useful so that, if you want to add something more specific in the future, it will be “incorporated” automatically into your RLCA.

If you answer NO, no clause will be added to your RLCA. However, if you do answer YES, something like this will be added:

“In addition, your use of any Website(s) or Service(s) may also be subject to the Terms of any Legal Notices applicable to the Website(s), in addition to the Terms of Use.”

In other words, “you have to follow extra rules, apart from this agreement, like other legal notices that might appear into our Websites or Services”.

All such Terms of Use are referred to below as the “Additional Terms”. Where Additional Terms apply to a Website or Service, these will be accessible for you to read either within, or through your use of, that Website or Service.

Which means that, “all these notices will be called “additional terms” from now on. You will be able to read them either into our Website or through it. And, these rules will be used for that certain website or service”.

The Terms of Use, together with any Additional Terms, form a biding legal agreement between You and Us in relation to your use of the Website(s) and the Service(s). Collectively, this legal agreement is referred to below as “the Terms”.

Both the “terms of use” and these extra notices that you might find into the webpage(s) or service(s), called “additional terms”, form together an agreement between “you” and “us”. And we called this “the Terms”.

If there is any contradiction between the Additional Terms and the Terms of Use, then the Additional Terms shall take precedence in relation to the Website or Service to which the Additional Terms apply.

It is common sense to think that, when some discrepancies appear between the RLCA and the Additional Terms, these last ones shall be applied. Mainly because they usually are more specific and up to date compared with the general ones. Even if it might be “common sense”, adding the clause makes it just “clear”.

Remember that you can participate with us to make the RLCAB or improving the FUFAB, or becoming one of the Core participants, you can do it here, or sending us an e-mail at:

As some of us are living in Tokyo, and due to these extraordinary events, our work has been, inevitably, interrupted. However, we are back again, with all our strength to keep this project moving on. We are working on FreeLex again, thrilled and excited making the community spreading around.

You can already use our UFAB (User-Friendly Agreement Builder) to get a summary of your Terms of Use translated into an easy-to-understand list of icons with explanations which relate to the main terms you can find in your Terms of Use. But what if you don’t have your own Terms of Use to begin with??

If you don’t have your own Terms of Use, you will be able to use, in short, the RLCAB (Real Legal Code Agreement Builder). Answering to a set of simple questions you can generate the Real Legal Code of your User Agreement for your Website or Service, both in ASCII and html. Simple, isn’t it?

Are you a Lawyer or a Law student? Are you interested in helping us with the RLCAB? Would you like to become a Core Participant? FreeLex is open for you.

Welcome to FreeLex, an open and friendly project which aims to help you understanding better the bits and pieces of the legal agreements, terms of use and other contracts alike that you can find while surfing the web.

We are really glad to finally announce the birth online of FreeLex. This is the result of an idea and its development, from a tiny bit of light in the dark without shape nor perspective, to a huge project thanks to the many hours of work inverted, many advices from friends, inspiration from Creative Commons, and a constant flow of suggestions that came from the constant review of other sites. After so many efforts and brains working for it, finally, we are here.

We know that there are still things under development, but, as long as the big part is done, we are glad to provide you with the necessary tools to make your site User-Friendly. Please check our User-Friendly Agreement Builder and the rest of the site to be able to understand what FreeLex is. The concept is simple and the potential could be huge if used in the proper way.

We also encourage you to take part in this Project. If you want to know how to help us, please check collaborate.
