      <description>Closing out last week.
I was in New Bern overnight for a meeting, so went for a late evening walk
around town. All these are from New Bern, which sits at the meeting of the
Trent and Neuse rivers.

Downtown mooring.

<description>Just posting to get in the habit again....
I'm learning to use a G-1 with my old M2 lenses... Here's a shot I scrambled to
get at the side of the highway...
The other three shots are from random highway stops -- with a refurbished
Yashica 35 Electro G, the first electronic rangefinder, I believe...

Thanks for looking....

<description>Yesterday my wife and I spent the bulk of the day hiking in some nearby
mountains. This is the first time we have done something like this. It was
exhausting, but it also allowed my to take in the landscpae with my Leica:

As always, comments and critique are welcome and appreciated.

Turkey. I'm not quite there yet but I'm pretty happy with this one:

technical stuff: R8/DMR, 280mm f/4 APO (I'm not sending it away for repair
until I get desperate), shoulder stock monopod, knee pads. All comments

Working on the water wall at the Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh.

We had lots of rain last week.

A pasture near Four Oaks. I know they are messy, but I'm getting a hankering
for a chinaberry tree. Maybe I can put it on a swamp bank I don't walk on.

anytime, but diffuse light from an incoming storm helped.

That's still the A26 with Jim in the Pilot's seat, sorry for the confusion.
I'll try to make the caption clear. yes, that is Kathy. The plane is part
of the Commemorative Air Force, and this aircraft is based in Oklahoma City

Very nice pic of a less-known WW II light attack bomber. The clouds make
the shot.

Did this aircraft come from New Orleans?

I like the cockpit shot of the PV-2 Harpoon too. Is that your wife

My favourite shots this week are the first and particularly the last,
with the stone engravings providing an interesting sidelight.

Thanks for commenting on the pictures.

You're right, most of these qualify as candids (can't call them street
pictures since they were taken indoors).

The first one with its own link is more an environmental portrait. I
waited for Julie's right hand to finish pushing back her hair, her look
slightly away from camera and into bounced main light from the wall

Does anyone have podcasts on photography to recommend?

This Week In Photography pisses me off more often than it teaches me

flowers. It is maybe twenty feet tall, and about that wide.

I tried to photograph the whole tree, but it just doesn't work out; you see,
the flowers are small and delicate.

We can't see it very well from inside our house, but our neighbor Lissa gets
to see it from her kitchen window.

Since I can't show the whole thing, once again, I'll show some of the pretty
