Well, that depends on the amount of data you have on your system. The basic idea is to keep your operating system in one partition and to store applications and files on another.

Additionally, take time on a consistent basis; say every week, to perform maintenance activities such as defragmentation. Over time, the files on your system get fragmented. As a result, your computer has to look in many different places to open that particular file. Save your computer from this trouble and defragment it regularly. Defragmentation reunites fragmented pieces of the files, resulting in faster processing.

Lastly, it is a good idea to invest in a good registry tool to regularly scan and clean your registry. Maintaining a clean Windows registry, will not only help you speed up your computer, but also prevents several computer errors that are caused due to registry problems.

Avast home edition takes more time to scan vob, mpg, mp3, avi files than Norton or Mcafee. Other files take the same time like Norton antivirus. But since it is free and extremely good it is okay. I do not know about the professional edition.

Final Thought:I think Avast Home Edition is really good software with instant real time protection, regular updates, and much more. Just because you pay for it. Doesn't make it the best.

What is Spoolesv error?

Spoolesv.exe error may occur on your computer when you are trying send a print job to a printer attached to your computer or on a network. When the error occurs, you may receive the following error message:

“Spoolsv.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x77fcc2c0" referenced memory at "0x00000000".
The memory could not be written.”

This error is generated when the print spool folder on your computer is full with too many .SHD and SPL files. These files are used by the printer to save information related to print jobs that you send to the printer.

To resolve this problem, you need to clear the print spool and the temp folder located on your computer. You can do this, by performing the following steps:

1. Open Start menu, select Run, type services.msc and then press Enter.

2. In the Services management console window, scroll-down, locate the Print Spooler service.

3. Right-click on the service and then select Stop.

4. Now, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers folder.

5. Here, select and delete all files that are in the Printers folder.

6. Now, open the temp folder.

7. Scan through the file in this folder and delete any unnecessary files located within it.

8. Go back to the Services windows and start the Print Spooler service.

What is Ccsvchst error?

ccSvcHst.exe usually occurs if you have one or more Norton 2007 products installed on your computer. When the error occurs the following error message may display on your computer:

“ccSvcHst.exe – Application error
The instruction at "0x059a2df" referenced memory at 0x059a2df" the memory could not be written. Click OK to terminate the Program.”

The main cause of ccSvcHst.exe error is a bug in Norton products. The error usually occurs during system startup and shutdown. Problems with the ccSvcHost.exe file may also deteriorate your PC performance and cause frequent computer freezes.

A Norton update has been released to resolve this error. So, you just need to run Norton Liveupdate or download the required update from Symantec website and install it on your computer to rectify the problem.

In this case, it is recommended that you install reliable antivirus and antispyware tools on your system and perform a full system scan to detect and remove all malicious data from it. Set Gmail as your Default Email Client in Firefox

If you click on any email links,it opens as default email client compose mode. In Firefox you can set Gmail as your default email client. By doing this, you can avoid the hassle and take advantage of a new feature in Firefox 3 that lets you set Gmail as the default for all email links.

So how to set it up? just follow this simple instruction:

1) Open Gmail and sign in.

2) Copy and paste the following code in your firefox browser's address bar and hit enter.

Or if you use personal domain name then use this code and hit enter.

3) now you will see a message, from right side click on "Add Application" button.

4) Now click on any mail links, you will be prompted with a dialog box listing available email applications. Set gmail and check "Remember my choice for mailto links" and hit OK.

5) You can always change this setting by going into "Tools" > "Options" (or "Firefox" > "Preferences," for Mac users) selecting "Applications" and going to the "mailto" option. There's a drop down next to the option that lets you change your default. Clicking "Application details" will take you to a settings page where you can completely remove Gmail or other mail apps.

Note: If nothing happens when you type in the code, double check that you copied the entire snippet correctly, and if nothing happens, you probably changed an advanced setting (maybe without even knowing) and need to set it back to default. To do it, type about:config into your browser and make sure that network.protocol-handler.external.mailto is on the default setting: true.

Want to hide important software in Add or Remove Programs? It can be handy if you share your computer with family. Also there are some secret softwares that you don't want to show to others. After installing software, it shows in add/remove programs where you can uninstall software and other related features.

Usually people go to windows add/remove programs to see what type of softwares you have installed in your Pc. If you want you can easily hide software in add/remove programs. Just follow this simple instruction:

1. Open windows Run command,type regedit and hit enter.

2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.

3. Now which software you want to hide, select that and double click on DisplayName in the right panel.

4. A new window will open with the name "Edit String".

5. Remove the software name from Value data.

You are done. It won't show in add/remove programs now. You can also change the software name. just don't remove the name, change the name. The software will remain in add/remove programs but will show what name you have given. It can be funny also to fool someone else.

1.Comment Form beneath blog posts: In my blogging experience i have seen more comments on wordpress powered blog rather than blogger blog.It's because after each post,there is comment form which encourage readers to post comment.people don't like to post a comment which take on a separate page.The default blogspot comment form is not custom made template friendly.

2.Have more template options: The template provide by blogspot blog is old.now-a-days blogger like to use more custom made templates rather than default templates.Most third party templates provider are not aware of their user because they providing free templates.To have more templates options will give more flexibility on blogger blog which will ensure that we are safe.

3.Static pages on blogspot blog: The ability to create static pages that are not considered and treated as posts.Example like An about page,contact,privacy policy,disclaimer etc. With the ability to link to these pages on the header or footer. This will ensure that this will won't show up in feed reader and levels or archives.

4.125X125 Ad spot on Sidebar: Most of us like to monetize our blog.So having ready made 125x125 ad spot on sidebar will definitely help us to monetize blogspot blog.

5.Spam protection: We all hate spams.Personally i think all blogs should be nofollow tag free.However this means we can have more spams.So having spam protection like akismat(wordpress)will ensure that all the comments coming from real visitors or readers.

We are seeing that after few months using blogspot blog..blogger moving to wordpress which is more flexible. I like Google blogger and don't think to move to wordpress,it's beacuse i am familiar with html,css code.But newbie blogger always facing problem to customize their blog.

At last but not least,I really like that my posts show up in Google searches. It is that reason alone that has kept me from migrating to another blogging service and i hope blogger team will provide us much more features so we can enjoy this blogger platform.

Opera - Faster,Safer and Full-featured Web Browser

Opera browser is a very good piece of work. Billing itself as “The fastest browser on Earth!”, it is a free browser with great number of powerful and useful features.

Opera has clean interface that is very easy to use and understand. It has everything you need to browse the internet and even more.

Opera allows you to open several Web pages in different tabs within a single window. This is called tabbed browsing. You can easily drag tabs, duplicate them and even restore closed tabs. In Opera, you can resize pages and tile them next to each other on the same workspace to compare or work with several pages. The browser has very useful preview tab feature. Just place the mouse arrow over the tab and you will see a thumbnail preview.

The behavior of tabs can be easily configured to satisfy your needs.

Standard toolbar includes six basic buttons used to navigate within a document, address field, the search field for quick searching on the Web and the «View» button to toggle the view bar.

The search bar offers you several search engines to choose from. You also can add your favorite search engines to the search bar.

The view bar allows you to find a specified word in the active Web page, and provides you quick access to voice management (if available) and features that affect the display of the page, such as shortcuts to turn off stylesheets and images, zoom and so on.
Zooming in Opera applies to the entire page at once, instead of just the text. I found this very useful.

Another great feature of Opera is the sidebar which is placed on the left of the screen space. You can toggle it by pressing F4 key or clicking on the left side of the Opera window.

This sidebar gives you quick access to different panels such as bookmarks, widgets, history, notes, transfers, links and some others. These panels make the work with Opera even easier. You can configure sidebar by adding and removing panels of your own.

Opera has highly customizable interface that allows you to personalize it by using beautiful skins, removing and adding panels and buttons.

Opera is designed to be the fastest, smallest, and most full-featured browser available. It is really very fast in loading pages. It is definitely faster than Internet Explorer. The advanced fraud protection of Opera and its anti-phishing detection keeps your browsing safe and secure. The very interesting feature of Opera is mouse gestures that allow you to do frequently performed browse operations with small, quick mouse movements.

Speed Dial is the new and unique feature of Opera that assigns bookmarks and tabs any digit from one through nine. When you enter one of those numbers into the URL bar, the corresponding site loads when you hit enter.

TrueCrypt - Best Free Disk Encryption Software

TrueCrypt is an open source project that is extremely simple to configure and use, which is all most people really want. TrueCrypt does not provide boot sector encryption for full disk encryption like DriveCrypt or the upcoming BitLocker in Vista but does allow a user to mount a virtual encrypted volume on a hard drive instead,very cool file encryption software.

If you want to protect certain sensitive data, the most viable and simple solution is data encryption. There are many encryption programs to choose from, but when it comes to ease of use and value few can compare to the open-source TrueCrypt software.

TrueCrypt can create a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mount it as a virtual disk that can be accessed via a drive letter. It can also encrypt entire hard drive or removable media, such as USB flash drives, floppy disks, and memory sticks.

Any file that is saved on the encrypted virtual drive is automatically encrypted on-the-fly, and can only be accessed while the drive is mounted with the correct password or key.

TrueCrypt supports 11 algorithms for encrypting your private data, including such algorithms as AES-256, Blowfish (448-bit key), CAST5, Serpent, Triple DES, and Twofish.

The best feature TrueCrypt provides for the user is the ability to create a hidden drives. It is the best way to prevent others from discovering that some data even exist.
The program has quite simple interface and the regular user can handle it easily. The useful tips in the comprehensive web help manual and volume-creation wizard provide excellent guidance.

One obvious downside of any strong encryption program is if you forget your password, you should consider any protected files as good as gone. So don’t forget your passwords.

Please Note: The program does let you “auto” remember passwords when mounting an encrypted volume. It will also let you auto start the program on operating system start-up. You may want to avoid both of these scenarios. The security of encryption lies in the fact that you control when it is being turned on and off. If someone steals your computer, it is extremely easy to bypass a username and password prompt when the computer boots to gain access to the system. If your system auto boots with the password combination for TrueCrypt you have defeated the security you are trying to embrace. Remember to layer those security factors.

The preferences are simple to get used to even for a novice user and basically centre around the aforementioned auto start functions.
