I've got Hank's book sitting on deck behind Mark Twain's Autobiography, which is a chubby 700 pages. I think I'll push Twain aside for now so I can get to know Mr. Fox.

I absolutely love reading. In fact, I’d rather read a physical book than an e-book. Something about the feel of it, the heft of it in my hands and the act of actually turning pages. Sometimes, I even fold a page over if I can’t find something handy to use as a bookmark.

Not to mention the lovely smell of "new book", the slightly musty odour of well-loved books, the texture of the paper under my fingertips...

Yeah, I'm a book junkie.

This is an excellent article, and many of the comments are interesting, too. I particularly appreciate Al’s eloquent use of profanity in the initial rant – very artful and satisfying.

My family ‘shares the rage’ over the passing of this amendment. I hope that the supporters of equal rights in N.C., and everywhere, have several angles of legal attack against this immoral discrimination. The whole debacle seems unconstitutional, to me – voting on denying rights to a group for no good reason; admitting that you’re basing the discrimination on a purely religious idea; churches openly promoting a political agenda…?! …sounds wrong and unAmerican, to me.

I’m going to find out who’s going after this in courts of law and see what I can do to help.

I love horror stories and fairy tales and all sorts of stories with supernatural elements.

Just finished the Song of Ice and Fire series and LOVED them - I normally don't care too much for the fantasy genre but these were great.

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to give this author a try.

I do have a NOOK reader and I love it. Mine has a hard cover so it feels more like a book in my hand. I was opposed to this at first, but it sure saves on trips to the library... Plus I can carry tons of books at one time if I so choose. I guess it's just a matter of getting used to the thing.

I still buy my favorite books in hardback, though.

I wonder if atheists (and maybe agnostics) might have an advantage in writing fiction with supernatural elements. Rather than trying to get the imaginary stuff "right" in the sense of "like the supernatural things I think actually exist", we can focus on getting things "right" in the sense of "what will best suit the plot, characters, mood, etc." without worrying about misrepresenting a supposed reality.

WTF, North Carolina? It's the 21st century, the 21st fucking century, and y'all are stuck in the 19th! At best!

I'm not a huge fan of things changing, I like having a predictable routine, keeps me sane, but sometimes change is a good thing. Changes moving us closer to full equality as citizens and fellow travelers on this wacky ride called "Earth", those changes are most definitely Of The Good. I'd even go so far as to say it's For The Greater Good.
