It’s always fun to discover new finds on the Internet, and this little wooden figure from Cesc Grané dubbed ‘Raiki’ is no exception. The boy-wonder was created by energy from lightning in the midst of a mysterious forest, his name derived from two Japanese kanji: Rai (thunder) and ki (tree). The combination of these elements has provided Raiki with his very special powers. He even has his own Facebook page – there aren’t many designer toys who can claim that much…

Justin Bua, the Upper West Side’s king of ‘Distorted Urban Realism,’ returns to his roots at the end of this month with his first ever hometown solo show at NYC’s Pop International Galleries. Bua’s recognizable signature style explores urban scenes and topics, inspired by his formative years as a graffiti artist immersed in hip hop and street culture. A graduate of Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design, Bua is also a successful commercial artist with a CV that includes a campaign for EA Sports.

Before the beginning of any architectural project we play with volumes. Thus, studying dynamics of construction and form development in the given place. In this project we improvised with a cube. One of the most simple forms. Crossing, merge and synthesis of volumes, has allowed us more deeply постигнуть a rhythm формообразования. This project which we named "Cube-House" or that the cube can. It’s hard to imagine a more rustic, spiritually infused candle than these Wooden Spice Pots from Himalayan Trading Post. The company, which is based in Georgia, works with the villagers of a small town in Northern India where these pieces are hand carved out of mango wood. In the distance as the villagers work, the Himalayas rise in a purple haze – what an image! Mango wood is a sustainable, fast growing resource indigenous to south Asia, where it’s raised in orchards as a crop.

Even with its elegant and beautifully executed design, the best part about Velichko Velikov’s ‘Arc’ table is that it is part of a larger series of furniture themed around the same flowing, organic lines. Being the first piece to be released, this table bodes well for future production with its delightfully symmetrical and balanced base, topped with a substantial and unadorned circular glass surface. We’ll be sure to be keeping an eye out for the next ‘Arc’ piece in Velikov’s series.
