Recently I picked up Sophie Dahl's new cookbook. I haven't used any of the recipes yet but I love how short and sweet they are. The photos by Jan Baldwin are just really stunning. Normally I eat out a lot but I've been enjoying my kitchen lately, perhaps inspired by this beautiful book.

I've been experimenting with extremely simple dishes and it's made the task of cooking a lot less daunting. Sometimes when you cook for one, it's easier to buy a few of your favorite ingredients and mix them up together, to taste, instead of following recipes.

The other day I made this spring salad with English peas, radishes and watercress. I added a bit of creme fraiche, olive oil and salt and pepper. My sister teases me about  my creme fraiche obsession. I try to add it to everything. It was delicious!

I just booked a ticket to Stockholm and Berlin for this summer! I am really excited to head back to Stockholm since I never actually wanted to leave the last time I went. Can't wait to see if it lives up to my glorified memories! :)  I've never been to Berlin before but am thrilled because I'll be staying with a friend who is born and raised there. Still, there's no end to my summertime dreams for travel.

May is my favorite month. It has been filled with so many lovely moments already. I got a chance to escape to the country last weekend and spent an afternoon napping on a cot, on a veranda, listening to meadowlarks. I stole lilacs from an alley, and went for walks in pastures. Now I am home and hope to take full advantage of the sun while it's in Portland. You never know how long it will be around! Have you had any favorite moments this spring?
