S05E03 – Practically Perfect

So here’s the thing. I think I have it all figured out and we’re only on episode three. Well, maybe not ALL of it but I think I have something figured out.

Highlight:

This whole headless murderer thing? And the fishy cop lady? This is what I think, and I am probably SO wrong, but let’s go:

I think the murderer is the guy that Angel beat up in the bar and the fishy cop lady is his girlfriend. How in she is on stuff, I don’t know. Cop lady or not, I totally think it’s the guy in the bar. It makes sense! That’s why people would be afraid to talk. Would you want to be a snitch if the police were killing people in the neighborhood? I don’t know why or what the deal is. Maybe he’ll kill Maria! For her money!! Yeah!

Now, I’m totally unspoiled and I don’t read forums or other websites on what people might be saying so this might be completely obvious to everyone else. Maybe I’m late to the game. Who knows?!? Ya know, I’m SO unspoiled that I won’t even read the episode synopsis that pops through my TiVo. All I ever see from the future is the preview at the end of the show. I’m pure!

So, I had no idea how Julia Stiles was coming into the show. I read (on complete accident) that she was coming to the show but I assumed she’d be a nanny and a love interest and be booooring. But this is wonderful! Complications make things exciting especially when Dexter is good natured and won’t just go and kill her.

Overall, good episode but now is when the fun begins. Wee!

S05E02 – Hello Bandit

Oh, how this episode was hell for me! Not because of the content but because at 8:30 pm the power in my entire neighborhood went out. Needless to say, I pretty much threw a two year old temper tantrum and threatened to SUE THE SHIT out of the electric company if the power wasn’t back up by 9. Well, the power wasn’t up by 9… or 10… but around 10:30 it popped up and I watched the 11:00 rerun while doing my absolute best to keep my eyes opened. That isn’t an easy task for me since I have to be up at 7:00 every morning. I managed and rewatched the next day in case my sleepiness missed something important.

Being spoiler-free, these are still introductory episodes to me. It makes perfect sense why reviewers received the first three episodes in their screener packages. There doesn’t seem to be too much going on other than getting to know things.

Spoiler time. Highlight to read.

There isn’t much worth noting to me so far other than the weird cop-lady at the crime scenes. She’s super fishy to me. She makes a fishy face when they cut to her. Is she the girlfriend of Mr. Animal Control? He was CSIing Dexter. Does he know how to CSI something because he’s a sick fuck or because his girlfriend/sister/something works for the police? She looked like she was taking mental notes but who knows. It’s still early and I’m always wrong about everything.

I’m glad the kids are gone for now. I think they’ll be back eventually. Astor is a stripper waiting to happen. I look forward to her being on the pole and a future victim of a serial killer Dexter will kill. The setup is all there for that. The show in my head is so awesome. I wish you guys could see it.

Angel and Maria are plain irritating and I couldn’t care less about their stupid marriage and problems and Maria’s hooker money. I also hate the way she says Angel’s name. I suppose she’s annoying because Rita’s dead and someone has to be the pain in the ass who I hate to watch. Maybe someone will cut HER eyes and tongue out! Oh please!

S05E01 – My Bad

Here we are, finally a new episode of a new season and the world is whole again. I have remained fairly virginal in the time leading up to this and only saw one trailer (which I now know contained mostly all scenes from the first episode) and accidentally happened across one story which named an actress coming to the series. Other than that, I don’t have much of a clue about anything but I do have guesses as to what will go on. My guesses aren’t worth a single anything since I’m always wrong because I over complicate everything.

Remaining spoiler free, what did I think of the first episode? It was good! It was a first episode. First episodes always have a habit of reintroducing, showing us what we already know, reminding us of characters and their personalities. I know who these people are, I know the story, I always want it to just move on and blow passed things for new viewers. This episode wasn’t huge on reintroducing but there were some things which weren’t needed. It mostly moved on fairly quickly and that’s a very good thing.

I’m anxious to get on with the spoilers and they’ll all be below. Simply highlight the text to read. I do it this way for the people like me who read too quickly and will spoil themselves before they can stop.

On we go!

First things first! I will be SERIOUSLY pissed if they are going to go for incest here. That hug? What was with that hug? That was a lingering, “you’re a woman, I’m a man, let’s bang” hug and even Deb found it weird. Yeah, I know they’re married in real life and I know that on the show there’s no blood relation but they are STILL brother and sister. Don’t go there, Writers. I saw it, I get the hint, now leave it alone. Seriously. I mean it!

With that, I hate the Quinn/Deb storyline. They’ve been feeding it to us forever and now they finally screw and she acts just like she’s supposed to. Quinn is repulsive! I’d act like that too, plus boil myself in acid to cleanse the Quinn off of me. Not to mention that he’s the reason Lundy is dead (I loved Lundy more than Deb loved Lundy) because of that whore he was screwing. Hate him. Hate that plot. Hate that he’s the new Doakes. The time has come for him to die.

Which brings me to skipping ahead to the preview for the rest of the season. Anyone else thinking/hoping the new serial killer is either Quinn or Neighbor Guy who I can never remember the name of? Here’s hoping! *fingers crossed* Anything to kill off both of those guys would rule.

I find Maria and Angel boring. I really don’t care how Maria feels about Rita’s death. Their marriage is pointless unless it ends up being Dexter’s alibi. Maybe Angel will kill Maria in her sleep because she’s ridiculous. Please!

Let’s talk about Dexter. Dexter/Michael was brilliant in every scene. Every. Scene. I have zero complaints about him. The scene in the bathroom both disturbed and saddened me. At first I was yelling “No no no! Don’t kill him!” because of evidence and it ended with me in tears with Dexter. The way he told the kids, wanting to run off, the funeral home, the boat… all wonderful. There are few actors who can make me love everything but Michael does it easily. Even that hug? Though weird and a little creepy and incestuous, he did exactly what he was supposed to there. He made me (and Deb) uncomfortable and that’s how it should be.

Now we wait until next Sunday and we’ll see where things go. I’m really excited about what’s to come, moreso than the past few seasons. Season two and three were total bummers to me. Trinity bought joy and now there’s a whole new world of possibility. Excited!

New-ish Beginning

Hi everybody. Welcome (back) to the new-ish/old FrozenBarbie.com!

A few things:

I had the site hosted over at Ning for a while and it was EASY! Hardly any upkeep, fans could come in and out, post, forums, discussions, chat if you wanted. Everything was in one little place and whoever wanted to contribute, could. Sadly, Ning became pay-only and that’s pretty ridiculous to me. I am a web designer, I know how to add in everything they have and I already pay for hosting of my own website. So I transferred on back over here. The upkeep is more work for me but I’m saving money in the long run.

In the process, though I had the layout saved, I seem to have misplaced past posts which is totally the fault of my absentmindedness. It’s looking like I just forgot to back them up in a server switch. So, we’re pretty empty around here. Not because this is a new site, but because I am apparently a bonehead.

I have had a Twitter for a while so I’d love if you followed me over there. Quick little thoughts are awesome when in a hurry.

Of course, FrozenBarbie will always remain spoiler free until episodes air and, even then, I’ll take great care to make sure spoilers aren’t visible to all unless they want to see them. I’m very strict on this because spoilers can totally ruin a show. I am so spoiler-free that I refuse to read any of the books just in case there is something which would give a hint of something in the show. I enjoy the guessing game way too much even though I’m pretty awful at it. I try and it’s fun and that’s what matters!!

I will do my very best to keep up. Dexter’s season is usually right in line with my busiest work time which is why it tends to slip. I notice this with many of the other Dexter sites/podcasts as well so I’m not the only one. That’s why you should follow my Twitter! Twitter is quick and easy and right there all the time!
