Twitter is a really great tool for people who are interested in Frugal Living. People who use coupons can make use of Twitter to get new coupons and to locate Internet coupon codes to help them save money when shopping online. But even those people who aren’t on the hunt for new Twitter coupons may find that they can make use of the popular social networking site to assist them in living a more frugal life.

One of the best things about Twitter is that it allows you get information in digestible bite-sized chunks. Sure it’s great to read money-saving blogs but sometimes you just don’t have the time to stay on top of all of the new posts that bloggers are putting out. You may discover that you can still get daily frugal living tips delivered to you by following Twitterers who microblog about living frugally.

Frugal living writers on Twitter will frequently post short tips that you can read when you sign in to your Twitter account. These tips can remind you to keep saving money every day. They put out a lot of content on their website. If the full site is too overwhelming, you might enjoy their briefer updates and tips on Twitter. At a very basic level, frugal living means that you live your life in a way that allows you to limit your spending. However, there are many different approaches to frugality that one might take. In truth, being frugal can mean very different things to different people. The reasons that you opt to embrace a frugal lifestyle will have a significant impact on your type of frugality. Let’s take a look at some of the core philosophies of frugal living.

Simple Living

A lot of people who choose to live frugally are engaged in a practice commonly known as voluntary simplicity. These people believe that life should not be about the acquisition of material goods. Instead, these people aim to live a high-quality life comprised of doing things that they enjoy with people that they love. Being frugal assists them in living this way. It helps them avoid getting sucked into the repetitive cycle of ongoing material consumption. It also helps them to reduce the amount of money that they need which reduces the amount of time that they have to spend working. This frees up their time to do the things that are important to them. The philosophy of frugal living for these people is that living frugally allows them to live the simple lifestyle that they believe is important.

Green Living

A lot of people today are trying to live a green lifestyle. This can go hand-in-hand with frugal living. Many of the things that people do to be green are things that naturally allow them to save money. Walking to work instead of driving, reducing the waste of water and energy in the home and making sure to re-use items instead of buying new ones are all examples of green habits that are also frugal habits. Many people adopt a green living philosophy and it leads them towards living a frugal life. The core philosophy for this type of frugal person is that it is important to live frugally in order to reduce waste and to live in harmony with the environment.

DIY Lifestyle

The DIY lifestyle is one in which people believe that it is better to make as many things by hand as possible rather than buying them from stores. This includes making meals by hand (and possibly growing their own gardens). It also includes making household items (cleaners, candles, clothing, etc.) by hand. The DIY lifestyle has strong ties to simple living. The difference is that these individuals aren’t so interested in reducing their quantity of material goods as they are on reducing their dependence on getting consumer goods from mainstream outlets. The DIY lifestyle also has many similarities to the green lifestyle since it tends to involve reducing waste in a number of ways. People who live a DIY lifestyle tend to live a frugal lifestyle. They often work in craft-related businesses that they don’t derive a lot of income from but which give them enough money to live off of if they live frugally. The basic philosophy of this lifestyle is that frugal living is a necessary way to live a make-it-yourself way of life.

Spiritual Frugality

There are a lot of people who opt to live a frugal lifestyle for spiritual reasons. This spirituality can take on many forms. Some of those people are part of a traditional church that believes in living frugally. The Quakers, the Amish community and some types of Buddhism are all examples of modern religions that support living a frugal lifestyle. Other people may not be part of a formal religious group but may nonetheless feel that their spirituality is hindered by consumerism and the “rat race”. These people may embrace a frugal lifestyle in order to live a simpler life which allows more time for meditation or prayer.

Frugal from Necessity

Not all people who are frugal actually choose to be that way. There are also some people involved in what has become known as “frugality from necessity” or “involuntary frugality”. In other words, these are people who simply don’t have extra money to spend. They also don’t have access to loans and credit cards so they can’t live lavishly beyond their means. These people have no other choice but to live frugally. Although some of these people would continue to make frugal choices if they did get money, most would prefer not to live frugally since it is a lifestyle that has been forced on them by their circumstances. For these people, the philosophy of frugality is that it is something to be endured rather than something to be embraced.

Accidentally Frugal

Finally, there are some people who seem to have a natural talent for living frugal lives. These are often creative people who don’t necessarily earn a lot of money. They find creative ways to get what they need in life which results in living a frugal lifestyle. For example, instead of throwing away a pickle jar when it’s done, they’ll naturally use it to make something. These people are not actively embracing a frugal lifestyle. They may not even be consciously aware of the fact that they are living frugally. Instead, these people are accidentally adopting traits from the various other types of frugal living and these traits combine to create a frugal life.

Those are the major types of frugality. There is certainly some overlap between these different types of frugal philosophies. Someone who lives a green lifestyle may also live a DIY lifestyle all in an effort to reduce waste and to live frugally.

Hey, seems you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed, so you will be the first to get our free money saving tips.

There are many people who would love to start their own business. However, it’s a much smaller percentage of people who actually do start their own business. One of the things that is holding some of those other people back is that they don’t know how to find the money required to assist them in starting a business. What do small business owners know that those people don’t know? They know that it doesn’t take a lot of money to start most small businesses. They also know where to find the money that is required.

Here are ten great methods of finding the money to start your own business:

1. Government Grants and Loans. One of the best ways to get money to start your own business is to get a loan. Many banks are not giving out loans right now to emerging businesses because the financial risk for them is too high. However, it may still be possible to get the loan that you need through your local government. In the United States, the Small Business Association has a great loan system set up that will assist you in getting the money that you might need to start a new business. It is harder to get this support in the UK but there are government grants available to certain types of businesses through the EU’s state aid program. It’s worth taking a look at this option.

2. Social Lending Programs. If you can’t find a loan through the government then you might want to think seriously about getting a loan through a social lending program (also known as a peer-to-peer lending program). These are programs through which private individuals make low-interest loans available to others without the involvement of an official bank. This has become increasingly popular with small business owners in recent years. Two popular sites to work on this through are Lending Club in the United States and Zopa in the UK.

3. Get an Angel Investor. This is a private individual (or a very small group of individual) who believes in your business plan and will back up that belief with money. This investor gives you startup money for the business. You may either return the investment with interest or offer a percentage of profits to the angel investor when the business takes off. Networking in your industry is the best way to find an Angel Investor.

4. Ask Mom and Dad. Loved ones are a great source of private loans. Many people have started businesses using the money that a family member was able to lend to them. If you have family members that can do this for you then it can be great. Make sure that you talk about the details ahead of time so that everyone knows about the risks involved in the personal loan.

5. Hold a Fundraiser Event. You may not have a single family member or friend who can give you a loan. However, you probably do have a large group of friends and family who can each contribute a little bit of startup money to your cause. A great way to get all of them to help you out is to hold a fundraiser event for your new business. A party where you accept donations, a silent auction where you sell your own artwork or even a big yard sale announcing that profits go to the business will all encourage people you know to spend their money with you. The best thing about a fundraiser is that it’s not a loan so you won’t owe money to anyone for their help in getting the business started!

6. Credit Cards or a Line of Credit. It is possible to take money off of your credit card to finance the start of a new business. This is highly risky and isn’t necessarily recommended as a first course of action. However, if you have a strong belief that your business can succeed then you may want to take the risk. Have a strong business plan, limit your startup spending to the absolute necessities and make sure that you have a back-up plan for paying off the credit card if your business fails.

7. Sell Everything you Can. Another choice for people who want to take a chance on themselves is to sell everything that they don’t absolutely need and to use that money to start their business. This may mean moving to a smaller home, selling your car and getting rid of all of your furniture. People who do this believe that they’ll earn enough from their new business to get the things back someday. Most of them turn out to be right.

8. Use Your Existing Job to Fund the New Job. It isn’t actually necessary to go whole hog when you start a new business. You can continue working full-time at your current job while launching your new business. As your new business grows and starts to earn money, you can reduce your hours at the old job and increase your hours at the new business. This allows you to use your existing income to fund the new job. If you engage in smart money-saving habits and frugal living during this time then this method of financing your new business is certainly do-able.

9. Start a ROSCA group. This is an idea that’s been used primarily in developing nations but it might be useful in America now that the economy and lending situation is so difficult. The way that a ROSCA group (or Rotating Savings and Credit Association) works is that you form a group of people who are committed to a long-term loan investment in one another. The group meets once per month for an entire year and contributes a small amount of money at each meeting. At the end of the year, a single member gets all of that money to help them start a business. Then you continue meeting the next year and the money goes to a different person. You commit to continuing with this until every single member has the money they need to start a business.

Of course, there are pros and cons to this system. Some people will have to wait a really long time to get their money. However, that might work out. For example, if you have someone in the group who recently had a baby and wants to be a stay-at-home mom then it might be ideal for her to not take her turn at starting a business until five or ten years down the road. Other issues to consider are the true level of commitment people will have to the group and how feasible it is for you to hold up your part of the bargain of donations over time.

10. Find a Way to Start your Business Without It. The above options are all great options for finding the money that you need to start a new business. However, you may find that an even better idea is to find a way to start your business without a big investment. There are a lot of businesses that you can start with little to no money at all. If you’re concerned about making a big investment in your business then getting started with one of those types of businesses might be the right course of action for you.

Hewlett-Packard has recently announced the launch of a new printer that has a lot of people really excited. The HP Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web is a printer that is capable of connecting directly to the Internet without requiring that you hook the printer up to the computer. This means that you can easily access items on the web that you might want to print out. Many people are saying that this is a great step forward in technology for print-at-home coupons.

People who print coupons at home currently have to go to their favorite coupon websites in order to locate the coupons that they want to print. They then need to tell the computer to print those coupons. How easy this is depends a lot on the website that you’re getting the coupon from. Some websites have easy-to-use “print this coupon” buttons but others make the printing process a bit more difficult. Using this new printer would allow you to easily access those websites and print straight from the printer itself which should save you some time when printing out coupons. Hewlett-Packard has pointed out that this printer might also be great for businesses that seek to create customizable coupons.

But what about those of us who don’t use print-at-home coupons? There are a lot of people who prefer to shop on the web using online discount codes to save money. It sounds like this printer could be good for us as well. You could access your shopping websites through the printer, make your purchase using your online discount code and then easily print the confirmation of your sale so that you have a clear record of your purchases. It will be interesting to see how this new type of printer fares in today’s market. If you decide to buy one, make sure to look for a coupon deal to get a discount on it!

A recent report by Performics tells us that sixty percent of a study’s respondents are spending as much or more money on online shopping this year as they did one year ago. This is a surprise to a lot of people who have believed that the recession has caused people to cut back on both their offline and online spending. The fact seems to be that people still need to do some basic shopping (particularly for household items) and that they are doing that shopping online.

Perhaps one of the reasons that people are maintaining their online shopping habits is because it is so easy to save money with discount codes when shopping online. Almost seventy percent of the people surveyed said that they do use online coupons when they shop through the Internet. Online shopping may be a way for them to get more for their money since savings can be easier to find and use when shopping on the Internet than when shopping in physical stores.

Another interesting opinion to come out of the study is that a large percentage of the respondents (about eighty five percent) believe that the recession is going to have a lasting impact on their spending habits even after the economic problems have come to an end. This indicates that online shopping with the use of promotional codes is probably going to remain the same or increase over time regardless of what happens with the recession.

There have been several cases lately in which too many customers have shown up for a coupon promotion deal and stores have had massive problems as a result. The problem is that everyone is trying to take advantage of good coupon deals these days because of the recession. Too many people print out or clip out these coupons and then show up all at once to the place of business. The workers can’t handle the increase in business, there’s a traffic jam of people waiting to get their coupon deal and tempers tend to flare.

The most widely-publicized case of this was the KFC debacle that happened earlier this year. Oprah announced a coupon deal for KFC’s new grilled chicken. So many of her viewers tried to get this coupon deal that KFC stores everywhere ran out of the product trying to meet their needs. People got angry. KFC has had to work hard to issue new raincheck coupons to make people happy after the big problem.

A less drastic, but more recent example, is the case of Rainbow Groceries in San Francisco, California. This business offers a twenty percent off coupon that is good on certain days of the week. On those days, the entire store is packed with people trying to save a little bit of money. The parking lot is full. The lines are long. And customers end up frustrated by the experience of shopping at the store even though they’re glad to be saving money. It’s a mess.

This is just one more example of why we’re starting to see a shift away from the use of in-store coupons and towards a preference for online shopping with discount codes. You simply don’t get the same kind of traffic jam online that you have to deal with when trying to cash in an in-store coupon deal that everyone else wants in on too.

Hey, seems you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed, so you will be the first to get our free money saving tips.

There is a reason why the summer fling is such a popular idea; summer is an ideal time to go on romantic dates. The relaxed feeling of summer, the opportunity to get outdoors and the plethora of things available to do during the summer months all combine to make it a terrific season for spending hours and hours getting to know (or to become re-acquainted with) someone that interests you. And what’s really great about summer dating is that a lot of the activities that you can enjoy are cheap or free!

Whether you’re looking for a short summer fling or you want to get intimate again with someone you’ve been with for awhile, here are some of the top summer dates that combine romance and frugal living:

1. Take long hikes in beautiful scenic areas near you. Summer is a beautiful time to just get outdoors and walk around with someone. The weather makes it easy to leisurely meander through state parks and nature areas for hours upon hours. You can use this time to have lengthy getting-to-know-you discussions or to daydream aloud together about the life that you want to have one day. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy some quiet time together, pointing out the various sights and sounds that you don’t normally have the time to appreciate during the other busy seasons of the year. This lack of distraction brings you back to the simple pleasure of just enjoying someone else’s company.

2. Go on a couple of rides at a local fair. Amusement parks and local fairs are really romantic dates for a lot of people because they bring back the romance of your high school and college days. The problem is that these dates can get expensive. A trip to a theme park just isn’t worth the cost for most frugal adult couples. However, it’s possible to enjoy some of that same sense of silly adventure without spending so much money. Head to a local fair that has no entry fee. Set a budget. Take your time picking out just one or two rides that you want to go on and a few games that you want to play. By drawing out the time that you spend making your selection, you can soak up the fun of this kind of romantic date without spending a lot of money. Don’t forget to kiss at the top of the Ferris wheel!

3. Volunteer at a farm together. Summer is one of the best times to volunteer at a farm because there are so many great crops to pick during the summer. Many of these crops are fruit crops that grow on trees which are easy for even the inexperienced farmer to pick. You can go on a volunteer vacation or merely spend a day at a U-Pick farm. Getting back in touch with the land together can be a great way to spend a date with someone you enjoy being around. And at the end of the day, you can go home together and dine on the delicious foods that you’ve picked. Perhaps there will even be some aphrodisiacs in your basket of goodies!

4. Find your area’s free outdoor movies, evening concerts and plays in the park. Most places have at least a few of these events during the summer. You can pack a picnic dinner and enjoy some free outdoor entertainment. Ideally you’ll choose a play or movie that’s got a romantic story line but something light-hearted and funny would work as well. Snuggle up together as the sun goes down and the chill comes back into the air and you’ve got a date that you’ll wish will never end.

5. Take advantage of sunsets and full moons. Nights are cold throughout most of the year but they’re fairly comfortable in most places during the summer months. Take advantage of this by doing things that revolve around sunsets, stargazing and moonlit nights. Picnics under the stars, dancing under the moon and watching the sunset together from a scenic vantage point are all activities that are high on the romance scale and easy on the budget.

6. Go to sports events at the local park. Forget the expensive games at the actual ballpark; head to the local park and watch a youth game instead. Sharing a hot dog or an ice cream cone is a great way to revive an old romance. Head over to the swings and push each other on them. Climb a tree together and watch the game from there. Alternatively you may want to enjoy some cheap sports activities yourselves – the batting cages and the driving range are both affordable summer options for active dates.

7. Indulge in some kids’ activities. There are tons of great cheap summer activities for kids. We don’t think about doing a lot of them as adults but some of them can be really fun as silly dates for a frugal couple. Pick up some sidewalk chalk and spend a few hours together creating a sidewalk mural or writing love poems to each other on your driveway. Get into your swimsuits and play in the sprinkler together or have a water balloon fight with another couple that you know. Kids know how to have fun and fun is what great dates are all about!

8. Take a train ride. Summer vacations can get expensive but they don’t have to be especially if you make the trip itself the purpose of the vacation. There isn’t any form of travel that’s more romantic than a train so take a train ride together to a nearby destination. Alternatively, take an inexpensive road trip to nowhere in particular. Enjoy the journey together.

9. Build your own outdoor kitchen. A lot of couples are happiest when they’re working on a project together. An outdoor kitchen is an ideal project for summer since you can enjoy barbecues together while you’re working on it. This project can get expensive if you’re not careful but if you work on choosing frugal designs and materials to build your kitchen together then you can create a special spot that will provide romance for many summers to come.

10. Spend the day in bed. Summer doesn’t have to be active. In fact, one of the best things about summer is that it’s a time when people kind of expect you to stay home and have some lazy days. Spend a whole day in bed together. Get a stack of magazines, a few good books or a handful of DVDs. Eat popsicles and fresh fruit all day. Have tickle fights. Make out a lot. These dates are sometimes the best dates of all!

Online coupons are the way of the future. For many frugal people, they are the way of today. There are many different websites where you can find access to these types of coupons. One of the most powerful websites for people interested in getting online discounts is Twitter. Twitter can be used to receive coupons that can be used online or downloaded for use at local stores. Twitter is also a great tool for networking with other people who have knowledge about good online coupons. Anyone who is interested in maximizing their money-saving today will want to know what Twitter coupons are all about.

It’s Easy to Create Twitter Coupons

One of the best reasons to get involved in the use of Twitter Coupons is because it is so easy to make them. This means that a lot of different businesses and individuals are starting to create their own coupons on Twitter. You can head to a Twitter coupon-making site like twtQpon to see how easy it is to make a Twitter coupon. Through this site, you simply enter your Twitter user name, some basic information about the deal and the link where interested customers can find the code. If you are following people who make use of tools like twQpon then you’ll automatically receive these coupons in your Twitter account.

General Links to Coupons

People don’t have to actually create Twitter coupons to post links to coupons on Twitter, of course. Anyone who offers coupon codes can post links to those codes online through their Twitter account. For this reason, it makes sense to use Twitter to follow the writers of your favorite coupon code sites and frugal living blogs. These people will regularly link to the coupons that are offered on their sites. You’ll see these links in your Twitter account and be able to easily tell if you’re interested in the deal. This may be simpler for some people than following the full RSS feed of the blog. There are many coupon sites on Twitter that don’t post anything else except for a coupon stream to the latest online coupon code offers. Fans of coupon codes will enjoy following these groups on Twitter. (A simple search for “coupons” through Twitter or through a Twitter Directory like Just Tweet It will help you find these.)

Twitter Coupons are Offered by Both Small and Large Businesses

What is important to note is that businesses of all sizes are active on Twitter. Dell made headlines not too long ago when they discussed how much financial success they were having as a direct result of creating Twitter coupons. Smaller businesses followed suit and began offering coupons to customers through their Twitter accounts. For this reason, it makes sense to follow the Twitter accounts of the businesses that you like most in case they post online coupon code links there.

Being Active on Twitter Gets You Coupons

Simply being active on the Twitter site may result in the receipt of Twitter coupons. A lot of online advertisers are now using Twitter to search for people who are interested in what they have to offer. For example, let’s say that you’ve recently posted a Tweet about a particular housecleaning product. Shortly after this, you may receive a message from someone on the site offering you a coupon for that product. Most of these are legitimate coupons but use your common sense when cashing them in since online coupon fraudsters may be starting to get active on Twitter.

Sites that Post Twitter Deals

You actually don’t even have to use Twitter yourself to find the latest coupon deals that are being posted to Twitter. That is because there are several blogs and website out there that make it their business to find and post all of these deals in one place. Two of the most popular of these sites are CheapTweet and CouponTweet. On CheapTweet, you can actually vote for the deals that you like to help drive the content of the site. As time goes on, you’ll find more and more deals that you like are being posted because of your interaction there. People who don’t enjoy being active on Twitter may find that they can get Twitter coupons this way without having to spend much time on Twitter at all. And people who prefer social bookmarking sites (like Digg) over social networking sites (like Twitter) may be more comfortable getting Twitter coupons from a site like CheapTweet.

Twitter and Mobile Coupons

The growth of Twitter coupons goes hand-in-hand with the growth of mobile coupons which is an industry that is currently on the rise. Twitter is a tool that you can always access from your mobile phone. If you’re shopping for something and don’t have a coupon for it, you could search Twitter to see if there is a coupon code available for that item online. At the current time, these coupons may not help you with in-store purchases since a lot of businesses aren’t yet set up to accept mobile coupons. However, as more and more stores start realizing that mobile coupons are more secure than print coupons, we could see increased use of mobile Twitter coupons.

Twitter Should Not Take the Place of Promo Code Sites

For the best deals, Twitter should not be used in replacement of online promo code sites. Instead, it should be used as one more tool that is available to you for saving money when shopping online. The best shopping deals are always found by doing comparison shopping between sites. Whenever you see a coupon deal offered through Twitter, you should take a quick look at whether or not a similar coupon deal is being offered through top discount code sites. You may find that you can get a better deal through another site. Choosing the one that offers the best savings is obviously the better bet. In this way, Twitter may point you in the right direction of savings even though the savings may actually come from somewhere else.

This makes parents happy. First of all it means that their children will have a bit of their own spending money to get the things that they want. Perhaps more importantly, earning their own money teaches kids about the value of money. It also teaches them skills related to working that they’ll be using for the rest of their lives. It’s an all-around great situation when kids start earning their own money from an early age. But how should they do it?

Here are 30 different ways that kids might earn money:

1. Bake Sales. Kids can start learning to do some simple baking from a very young age. They can hold bake sales in the neighborhood every week or every month where they sell their baked goods. Truly entrepreneurial kids may even set up a baking business through which neighbors and family members can place special orders.

2. Blogging. Kids these days are really good with computers and that’s a great place to start earning a little bit of money. They can start a blog and promote it through their MySpace account. They can earn a small amount of money for advertising. Kids may need to work with a parent to set up a legal account for accepting ad money.

3. Microstock Photography. Another great online business that kids can get into is selling their photos through microstock photography sites online. There are also sites like ShareAPic where kids can host their own photo galleries and get ad money when people visit the pictures. Kids who take great digital pictures can use the family camera to begin this business. Again, parents may need to get involved in setting up an account under an adult’s name.

4. Face Painting. Artistic kids may want to learn how to do face painting. Other kids in the neighborhood will be happy to pay them to practice this skill. Kids can also get permission to do this at parties or local street fairs.

5. Candy Sales. Kids who want to make their money off of other kids should look into doing candy sales in the neighborhood. Candy and popsicles can be purchased in bulk and then sold individually to local children. They can also be sold to adults who have a sweet tooth!

6. Make and Sell Jewelry. A more traditional business for kids is the making and selling of jewelry. Kids can make friendship bracelets and simple beaded jewelry. These can be sold to neighbors, at flea markets or even online.

7. Open an Etsy Store. Kids who are truly crafty may want to work with their parents to set up an online Etsy store. This is a place where people can list handmade items for sale. Kids that can make jewelry, do sewing or create other types of handmade crafts can earn a decent living this way.

8. Make Soaps and / or Candles. Jewelry isn’t the only handmade item that kids are good at making. Homemade soaps and candles are other things that kids can learn how to make and sell.

9. Work at Farmers’ Markets. Those crafty kids might want to get involved in selling their soaps and other things at Farmers’ Markets (if they make them in an organic way). Alternatively, you can help your kids get to know the local farmers that are selling at Farmers’ Markets. It may be possible for kids to earn some extra money by getting hired to assist at the farmers’ stands.

10. Have a Yard Sale. A yard sale is a great way for kids to earn some quick cash. They can sell the items that they don’t want anymore to get money for what they do want to buy. Business-minded kids can offer to run yard sales for neighbors and family members and they can keep a percentage of the earnings.

11. Start an eBay Business. Kids who are really good at selling things may be interested in working with their parents to start a small eBay store. They can use a bit of startup money to purchase items from local yard sales and then they can re-sell those items for a marked up price online.

12. Babysitting. Older kids can get paid to babysit younger kids. Kids who are too young to babysit may be able to find work as parent helpers, babysitting while the parents are home to give the parents a break while the kids learn babysitting skills.

13. Read to Young Kids. Another job for older kids is to get paid to read books to younger kids. Most parents want their kids to read. Book-smart children can set up small reading groups in which they read aloud to kids who can’t read yet. Parents pay a small fee for their kids to be in the group.

14. Tutoring. Older kids who are starting to get knowledgeable about teaching can even offer tutoring services to younger kids. Kids who already know how to read or do math are often the best teachers for younger kids who are just learning these skills.

15. Dog Walking. Some kids are really great with animals. Those kids should put that skill to use by earning some money doing dog walking for people in the neighborhood who have dogs. Kids who aren’t ready to do this may offer the service of coming over to the home and playing with the dog to help get the dog’s energy out.

16. Pet Grooming. Kids can also earn money from pet owners by offering to wash those pets. Dog washing is a common job for kids. In some areas, horse washing and grooming is also an option.

17. Yard Work. There are a lot of jobs in the yard that kids can handle doing and which people in the neighborhood will be happy to pay to have done. Tending a garden, raking leaves, watering plants and re-painting house trim are all things that kids might get paid to do for someone else.

18. Garden. Kids who live in places with nice yards may actually want to start their own gardens. They can then sell the fruits of their labor for some extra cash.

19. Errands. There are a lot of little errands that kids are capable of doing to earn some money. Returning items that one neighbor has borrowed from another, running to the corner store to pick up a few things and checking someone’s mail on a daily basis are examples of such tasks.

20. Housecleaning. Children who prefer to stay indoors may find that they can make a good business out of doing housecleaning for others. There are tons of different indoor tasks that kids can get paid to do including laundry, window washing, vacuuming and so on.

21. Filing and home office organization. Some kids are really great at organizing and filing which can be a lot of help to adults who have a home office. Kids who have basic computer skills (like typing) may also be able to sell those services.

22. Party assistant. Kids that are good at following directions can be a great help to people during parties. Setting up for a party, cleaning up afterwards and serving drinks or snacks during the party are all tasks that kids can handle. If your family knows a lot of people who host parties throughout the year then this can be a good kids’ business.

23. Cooking. Kids that are skilled at cooking may be able to turn this skill into a business. Many busy families would be happy to buy a few pre-cooked meals each week to save them the trouble of cooking for themselves. Kids can learn to make meals that can be frozen and stored and they can end up turning this into a pretty good ongoing business.

24. Assisting the Elderly. Elderly people are often happy just to have kids around. Kids can earn money by working as a companion to an elderly person, doing some of their basic chores and assisting them in getting around.

25. Flyer Delivery Service. Kids may be able to work with local businesses to earn some money doing basic advertising. Businesses pay kids to hand-deliver flyers to local residents. This is generally best for older kids or groups of kids working together due to safety concerns about going door-to-door.

26. Car Wash. The car wash is one of the most basic ways that kids can earn money. It’s another one that’s really great for groups of kids who want to work together.

27. Recycling. It used to be that kids could earn a decent amount of money by collecting people’s recyclables and cashing them in. Turning in cans for recycling doesn’t earn you much money in most places anymore. However, kids can still get into recycling for cash if they get creative. There are a lot of cool crafts that can be made from recycled materials. Kids that can do this for people who have a lot of junk around will be a hot commodity in some areas.

28. Host Movie Nights. If you are willing to have a bunch of people over at your house once a week or once a month then your kids can earn some money by hosting a movie night. They can either charge a small fee for coming to the movie or they can offer the movie for free and then charge for popcorn and sodas. If your family has a projector and a yard then you could even let them host outdoor movie nights at your place.

29. Make a Magazine or Comic Book. Kids who like to write may want to put together their own little magazine or comic book. They can then sell it to friends and family members for a small fee. Kids who are consistent with this can even sell subscriptions.

30. Hold a Talent Show or Put on a Play. One of the most creative money-making ideas for kids is to put on a work of performance art and to charge others to come see it. A talent show or a play can be a great way to bring a group together for some entertainment while kids earn money. Kids who can do neat things like break dance or do gymnastics can also do a performance around that.

Many people who are first learning about the use of promotional codes for saving money when shopping online will naturally equate the promo code with a standard coupon. In many ways, online discount codes are very much the same as the coupons that we have long been clipping and storing away in our organizers for use at local stores. However, there are some notable differences between promo codes and coupons which are important to understand if you want to make sure that you are truly knowledgeable about these different methods of saving money. Moreover, it is important to understand how recent changes in technology are blurring the line between discount codes and coupons so that their differences are less and less important as time goes on.

Basic Similarities Between Promo Codes and Coupons

There are definitely some basic similarities between discount codes and coupons that put them in the same general category of money saving tools. Both are used to obtain a certain discount at the time of purchase for an item. That discount may be a percentage off of the total price, a specific dollar amount reduced from the price or some sort of deal such as a two-for-one purchase. The purpose of both promo codes and coupons is for advertisers to entice you to purchase their product by offering a deal that allows you to get that product at some sort of reduced price. In this way, discount codes and coupons are the same.

Physical Difference Between Promo Codes and Coupons

The major difference between promo codes and coupons is the physical difference between them. Coupons are physical pieces of paper that have the deal written on them whereas promo codes are simply numbers or letters that you can obtain from anywhere and then input in to an online form to receive your discount. Promo codes may be used to actually print out coupons from the Internet – you enter the code to get the coupon and then print the coupon out for use in the store.

Here’s a look at some of the implications of the physical differences between promo codes and coupons:

• Promo codes are generally considered the greener option. Printing out coupons requires ink and paper whereas discount codes don’t require any printer so eco-conscious money savers tend to prefer promotional codes over coupons.
• Coupons can get lost. Most people don’t lose discount codes (although it’s true that you can lose the online page you bookmarked with the code) whereas physical coupons can easily be misplaced.
• Different organizational styles. Many people have physical file folders in which they store their coupons for use at different stores. They have an entire system for optimal organization of the discount codes which allows them to clearly see which discounts can be used when and where. This allows them to get the most out of their coupons. Some people find that they don’t get as much use out of online promo codes because they can’t be organized in the same way. However, other people find that they organize things better in an online format and therefore get more use out of promo codes.
• Ease of searching for discount codes. Physical coupons may be found in magazines, newspapers, circulars or mailed advertisements. To find the coupon that you want to use, you have to search through all of these things. In contrast, the online format of promo codes makes it easy to search by keyword to find the codes that you want.
• Immediacy of discount codes. Because of this online search function, it is possible to always find a discount code before making any online purchase. The same is not true of physical coupons when you’re at the checkout stand of a store. You may therefore save more money with online codes.
• Impulse buying may be greater with discount codes. A drawback to the immediate availability of promo codes is that it can cause impulse buying to be significantly more common than it is with coupons. You may see a coupon in a magazine and decide that you want the product but by the time you clip it out, get to the store and see the product, you could have realized that you didn’t need it after all. The same is not true with online shopping where you may see a discount code and feel the need to make an immediate purchase for something you don’t actually have to have.
• Appeal of advertising. Many people are more drawn to using coupons because they are physically appealing. Coupon codes are often shown as just text which may not entice you to pay attention to the coupons. However, the online format does allow for the potential to create interesting interactive discount codes so the future of promo codes could make them more appealing.
• Social sharing aspect of discount codes. One of the cool things about promo codes is that they are shared in an online format. Many discount code sites let you post promo codes that you find so that others can use them as well. Deals and discounts may be discussed in forums and blogs on these sites. There’s an entire community built up around these codes. This isn’t necessarily the same with physical coupons which can’t be shared between users in the same way.

Technology of Discount Codes

Although the differences between discount codes and coupons can be important, the line between these two different methods of getting a discount on items is being blurred because of today’s technology. A great example of this is the increasing use of mobile coupons. These are coupons or discount codes that are stored in a mobile phone which can then be scanned and used when shopping in physical stores. The discount code itself is much more similar to that of online promo codes than to a traditional coupon but the fact that it’s used inside of a regular store means that it is a lot like a coupon after all. This points to the fact that our online and offline worlds are beginning to merge together. As this happens, there will be less distinction between discount codes and coupons and we’ll be able to seamlessly switch from using one to the other in order to maximize our savings at all times.

Most of us use coupons just to save a few pennies here and there. A handful of coupon queens manage to save hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month with their coupons. But there are some people out there who engage in massive coupon fraud and these people end up costing manufacturers millions of dollars in fraudulent losses.

There is a big coupon fraud cause happening in the United States right now. Through fraud, a group of people was able to steal over $250 million in a ten year span which is likely the largest ever loss for the coupon industry. The fraud was conducted in two ways. First of all, the defendants were simply submitting fraudulent coupons to get good (but illegal) deals. And secondly, they were lying to stores and saying that they tried to use legal coupons but manufacturers were rejecting them; the stores would return that money and the criminals would keep it. Two of the eleven defendants have pleaded guilty and the other nine are still facing charges.

This isn’t just a problem facing Americans. There are problems in the UK as well according to the Institute of Sales Promotion which is an organization that represents the manufacturers of coupons there. Organized groups of coupon fraudsters are manipulating the bar codes on coupons to get more money back than should be given. Redemptions by just one company last year cost manufacturers £9,000. They also report that wrong-item coupon redemptions are costing companies about £50 million per year.

Perhaps moving away from printed coupons and towards more online coupon code use is one answer to this problem. Although there is going to be fraud in any area of the industry, a lot of the problems resulting from fake coupons would not be possible when entering discount codes.

Hey, seems you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed, so you will be the first to get our free money saving tips.

Summer vacations are expensive. Even budget travel requires people to dip into their savings accounts a little bit to be able to afford the trip. Most people simply accept this as a part of life. It doesn’t have to be. Smart travelers can actually find ways to turn their summer vacations into money-making opportunities. Some people manage to actually make a profit during their travels. At the very least, doing this offsets the cost of the vacation.

Here’s a look at ten ways that you might turn your summer travel into cash:

1. Write about your travels. A lot of people think that their travels are not worth writing about because they aren’t visiting exotic locations. However people’s travel tales are a source of great entertainment to others no matter what the destination may be. The mishaps that you go through, the people that you meet and the unique perspective that you have on a common destination can all be interesting to others. You can write a single article for a magazine or even author an entire book on your travels and make a bit of cash on the sales of your writing. If you get very familiar with an area then you may be able to author a travel guide. It’s not necessarily easy to break into the business of writing but it’s do-able if you put in some effort and it’s a really rewarding way to turn your travels into a money-making venture.

2. Blog about your vacation experiences. People who do like to write but who don’t have the ambition to write a whole book may want to think about doing a little bit of travel blogging to earn some extra cash. If you create a blog that offers great travel tips based on your own experiences then you can generate a little bit of revenue through advertising or even asking for donations from your readers. Plus this is a fun way to keep track of your travels.

3. Sell your vacation photos. Many of us are inspired to take out our cameras and to take a lot of pictures when we’re traveling since we’re seeing things that are out of the norm for us. These pictures can be turned into cash with just a little bit of effort. Photos can be sold online through microstock or stock photography sites. They can also be sold as framed art prints or as printed cards depending on how interested you are in developing your skills as a photographer.

4. Create other art around your travels. If you are at all artistically inclined then you can use your travels to create art which you can sell. You may pick up affordable new beads for making unique jewelry or paint landscapes of a destination to sell online. You may make your own crafts to sell through an online storefront like Etsy and can even create entire lines of those crafts around a specific destination that you’ve visited. (For example, you may make handmade soaps inspired by the natural plant life of a place that you have traveled.)

5. Open your own online souvenir store. If you travel on a regular basis then you can make a business out of purchasing souvenirs from different locations and selling them through an online storefront. To do this, you would visit local arts and crafts fairs and stores where locals make handmade items. The goal would be to get unique local items. You could purchase them and re-sell them online through your store. Alternatively, you could network with these locals and have them place their items in your online storefront on consignment which would reduce your start-up costs for this type of business.

6. Open an antique store. Another storefront option is to pick up antiques along the way during your travels and to fix them up and re-sell them back at home. This could be an online store but is particularly ideal for people who want to open a small physical store in their hometowns. Vacations are more fun because you’re looking around at flea markets, yard sales and antique stores to find treasures that you can’t find back home. Then you take them home and make a profit.

7. Bring homemade items to sell during vacation. Buying items on vacation and selling them upon return is a popular way to make money from travels but the reverse is also possible. You can make or buy items that are unique to your home and bring them with you on a trip. You can then set up a booth at a local market or have your own sidewalk sale during your vacation. People at your vacation destination may be interested in buying things that are unique to the area because they come from where you live. This is a great option if you’re visiting relatives because you can probably host a yard sale at their home and their friends may all want to buy from you.

8. Learn a skill that you can use in your work when you get home. Turning your vacation into cash doesn’t necessarily mean buying or creating something that you can sell. Instead, it might mean learning a skill that can earn you more money when you’re back home. Many people are starting to take educational vacations during which they take a class while they’re away. Culinary skills and performance art classes are all popular options but you can learn almost anything on your trip and use it once you’re back at home. Foreign languages are a great thing to pick up on a trip and they often benefit people in varied job positions.

9. Teach or do other work while you’re on vacation. You can also just plan to earn money on your vacation so that you’re not losing money when you’re away from home. Many people teach classes in a foreign country but it’s also possible to pick up a variety of different odd jobs to have some cash during your travels. This option is best for people who are planning an extended vacation but of course it can be combined with some of these other ideas to make even more money!

10. Use your vacation to re-focus on frugal living. Finally, you may just want to use your vacation as a bit of downtime to really re-focus on your financial priorities. We often get so wrapped up in our lives that we stop having any fresh ideas about how to make or save money. Travel allows us to get our minds clear. We may be able to see new ways to save money and to live frugally. In this way, merely enjoying your vacation could actually result in having more money after you get back home.

We don’t want our children to stay home all day being bored and getting themselves into trouble. However, we also don’t want to spend a lot of money making sure that the kids are entertained. Luckily there are actually a lot of free and cheap summer activities that kids love to do.

20 of the best cheap summer kids’ activities are:

1. Water fights. How many kids do you know that don’t love a good water fight? Water guns and water balloons are among the best cheap toys to entertain kids this summer. Make it more fun by organizing games and neighborhood battles. Make sure to save money on water costs by monitoring kids as they fill up for the fights otherwise they’ll just leave the hose on.

Hey, seems you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed, so you will be the first to get our free money saving tips. New today, free Furniture Village Discount Codes. Get 5% off of everything at Furniture Village when you shop online. And also get free bingo at freesunbingo.co.uk. Thanks for visiting!

2. Go to the pool. Swimming is another great water activity for kids. It’s good exercise for you as well which could mean that you can reduce your gym costs while enjoying time with the kids this summer!

3. Library events. Your local library probably has some sort of events for kids this summer. Find out what they are and see if they’re something that your kids will enjoy. At the very least you can check out some free books to entertain the kids with reading time.

4. Penny arcades. A lot of towns have penny arcades or other places where it’s really cheap to play games. See if you can find one that is close to you and make a day trip adventure out of it.

5. Outdoor movies and plays. Summer is a time when outdoor movie screens pop up in parks and theatre groups head outdoors for free evening performances. What a great way to enjoy the summer air!

6. Window shopping at the mall. If you’ve got kids who are older then they may like hanging out at the mall. This can be cheap if you limit the amount of money that they’re allowed to spend and take a book to read so that you don’t do any impulse shopping while you wait.

7. Bug hunting. If you’ve got little ones then going out in search of cool bugs is a great way to entertain them. June bugs, fireflies, ladybugs and moths are favorites because kids can catch them.

8. Learn something together. Is there something that everyone in the family could learn together? A new language, a type of cooking or how to play a musical instrument are great family learning experiences. You can get books and learn together on your own for cheap or find an affordable local class to take.

9. Camping. This is definitely a favorite summer activity for families. Check the local camps to find a good camp that is free or cheap. Pile everyone in the car and spend a couple of days camping under the stars.

10. Free days at museums. Museums frequently offer free days or reduced admission days to families during the summer. Check children’s museums, aquariums and planetariums for kid-friendly experiences.

11. Cheap arts and crafts. Kids love to do creative arts and crafts at home. Get big chunky chalk for them to write on the sidewalk with. Hang huge pieces of paper for finger painting. Teach them how to make friendship bracelets. A lot of great hours can be spent being creative together. One great idea is to redesign your living room for the summer to make a reading corner, a drawing center, a costume corner and so on so that the kids always have easy access to these things.

12. Summer festivals. There are probably many different summer festivals within easy driving distance of your home. Music festivals, art festivals and food festivals are all a great place to take the kids. Keep your shopping to a minimum and just enjoy the experience and this can be affordable.

13. U-Pick Farms. You can go to a local farm to pick fresh produce that is in season. You usually get to eat all that you can for free while you are there. Then you take the rest home with you. You get groceries and you have a great experience.

14. Cook together. Kids often spend summer days complaining that they’re bored and hungry. Kill two birds with one stone by cooking cheap recipes together. Let the kids pick what they want to make and help with the shopping.

15. Photograph everything. Kids love to take pictures. Get a cheap digital camera and make a plan to take at least one photograph every day. At the end of each week, choose some of your favorites and print them out for a scrapbook or collage.

16. Factory tours. If there are any factories in your area then you can probably go on a cheap factory tour. The kids will have fun learning about how different products are made and you may get to take product samples home with you.

17. Have people over. House guests, barbecues and summer parties are all fun for the kids. Keep it lowkey and potluck to reduce costs. You may even consider hosting summer travelers who have kids to let your kids meet new people while you earn some extra money.

18. Go to yard sales and flea markets. Kids can find a lot of fun toys for very little money at these places. You can find gifts and costumes to use the rest of the year.

19. Start a business together. Is there something that your family could do together to create a small business with no or low start-up costs? An ebay business selling homemade candles, a lemonade stand on the corner or a small baking business can all be done with kids.

20. Summer camp. Are you thinking that summer camp is really expensive? There are actually quite a few summer camps that are cheap or even free. Most camps offer scholarships or you could ask a local community member to consider sponsoring your child.

The summer is going to fly by faster than you can imagine. Make the most of it by enjoying lots of free and cheap activities with your kids!

New today, free furniture village discount code. Thanks for visiting!

The use of mobile coupons is relatively new but it is rapidly becoming a favorite way for shoppers to save money. This trend could increase now that smartphone applications are emerging which allow people to get on-demand, location-based coupons delivered to their mobile devices. A new business called Coupious has started beta testing of this service and the response so far has been a positive one.

Coupious is a phone application that can be downloaded by both iPhone and Android phone users. The application makes use of the phone’s built-in GPS technology to determine where you are when you are interested in shopping. The application then allows you to browse through available mobile coupons that are relevant for use at the stores in the nearby area. Customer select the coupon that they want to use, click a button that reads “use now” and then show the information to the clerk at the store to redeem their discounts.

One of the major concerns that people have had about this is the concern that there will be confusion when trying to redeem the coupons. There have been a lot of problems with the redemption of eCoupons in the recent past. Coupious has identified that this could be an issue and has put a plan in place to do extensive employee training for all businesses that agree to offer coupons through the service. This should make it simple for mobile customers to make use of these coupons.

The rollout for this particular business is planned slowly. There is some beta-testing happening in U.S. cities now. However, if all goes well, the company plans to expand. They also hope to make their application available to users of Blackberry, WinMo and Palm Pre smartphones before the end of the year. It is likely that other on-demand, location-based mobile coupon businesses will also enter the market to compete in this growing niche of the coupon industry.

Imagine getting all of your food fresh from the farm where it was grown. The food that you eat would taste a lot better than the packaged food that you get at the grocery store. It would also be a lot healthier for you. Many people believe that the cheapest way to eat is to use coupons at the local grocery store but you can actually save a lot of money on groceries by getting farm-fresh food. You can get this food through local farmer’s markets, farm deliveries, U-pick farms and even volunteering at a farm in exchange for room and board.

Farmers’ Markets

The most common way that people today get food fresh from the farm is that they purchase it from a local farmers’ market. It’s been exciting to see the popularity of farmer’s markets soar in recent years. Farmers’ markets are great because they allow you to support local farmers who you can meet directly while you’re there. They’re also great because they provide a fun experience for your grocery shopping. Many farmers’ markets are set up booth-by-booth and people may also sell handicrafts and homemade items like soaps and candles. They sometimes have live music or other performance art to keep you entertained while you shop.

Hey, seems you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed, so you will be the first to get our free money saving tips. New today, free Cloggs Discount Codes. Get £5 Off Trainers when you spend £50 or more at Cloggs. Also there is a new furniture village discount code. Thanks for visiting!

The experience of shopping at farmers’ markets is far superior to the experience of shopping at most grocery stores. But is it cheaper? It can be. One of the biggest ways that people save money when shopping at farmers’ markets is that they’re limited to buying only foods that are seasonal and grown locally. Much of the cost of grocery store food is in the shipping which is increased when you’re getting items that aren’t seasonal to your area at the time of purchase.

Some tips for saving more money when shopping at farmer’s markets include:

• Shop with the same farmers regularly. Get to know the people who are selling you your food and you’ll be likely to get bargains and deals when you shop.
• Purchase items at closing time. If you get there as the farmers are getting ready to pack up then you might be able to get a better deal on the food.
• Purchase items that are near the end of their season. Farmers may be willing to offload some of this stuff for a good price if they’re trying to make room for new products.
• Also purchase items at the peak of their season. You can get a good deal from some farmers on items that they have too much of so look around for what’s in season. Ask farmers if you get a discount for buying bulk; if you do then you can freeze or can the food and make it last for the rest of the season.
• Expand your tastes. Look around at the farmer’s markets for the foods that are currently the lowest price. These may not be the foods that you normally eat but you can find recipes for them when you get home.
• Ask about bartering. Farmers are very community-minded and they may be willing to barter food for the services or products that you can offer.
• Offer to pick up groceries for others. Many of your friends might also enjoy food fresh from the farmers’ market but they may find it inconvenient to get there during the hours it’s open. Offer to do their grocery shopping for a small fee while you’re there.

Farm Deliveries

Farmers’ markets are great but they do have some built-in hassles. Namely, you need to make sure that you get up and to the farmers’ market during the hours that it’s open. Most farmers’ markets are only open one or two days each week so it’s not always convenient to get there. Wouldn’t it be so much better if the farm could just come to you? Well, in many areas, it can. There are a number of farms that do home deliveries of in-season foods.

The most common way to find these farms is to use an established service with an online ordering system. You sign up to get a box of food delivered every week or every other week. You may pay a certain fee for membership but then you get a reduced price on a bulk amount of food. These services are the most convenient way to get farm fresh deliveries.

Tips for saving money with farm deliveries include:

• Make foods that you can sell. One of the drawbacks of these farm deliveries is that you often get more food than you can eat. That’s a good thing if you’re good in the kitchen though because you can create a small business making farm-fresh seasonal foods. Sell them to a local café or even set up your own booth at a farmer’s market.
• Get a short-term membership and freeze the food. You might want to get a membership for only a portion of the year and freeze foods so that they last for the rest of the year. This reduces your total cost and still lets you get the bulk food price.
• Talk to local farms that aren’t advertising. You may find that local farmers are happy to set up this same type of delivery service for you at a fee that’s much lower than the services advertised online.

U-Pick Farms

When you buy food from farmers, a lot of the price that you’re paying is the price of the labor that it costs to grow and pick that food. You can reduce your costs by doing your shopping at U-pick farms where you get to go out in the fields and pick your own food to take home with you. It’s a lot of fun to go to U-pick farms. It can provide a whole day of activity for the family which is a lot more fun than hauling everyone to the grocery store. You get many of the same benefits as you do from supporting local farmers in other ways including the benefit of saving money on your produce.

Volunteer at a Farm

Yet another option for enjoying farm-fresh food is to consider volunteering some time at a farm. There are many people who choose to work on organic farms as a way to enjoy cheap travel. They work at the farm in exchange for room and board in a foreign location. While they’re there, they also get to enjoy farm fresh foods. If you don’t want to travel then you might see if a local farm in the area could use your volunteer efforts. You could get food in exchange for the work and you might find that it’s a really great experience. It puts you close to the food that you’re eating which makes many people feel healthier. And it means that you’re paying for your food with time instead of money.
