There IS a feeling of celebration. More people in my town seem to understand the power and importance of climate change from Sandy’s interruption of our lives. And she ended some of our lives, too. We treat Sandy like we do most foreigners – we misunderstand her, and accuse her of violence when our own violence goes by invented names like “national interests” and “power.” We need to change our consumption habits completely, but Sandy’s wind and waves blew the fence-sitters into New York Sound.
