Its that time of the year again when the biggest east coast convention arrives, New York Comic Con. And, from what I’ve seen thus far such as the years past there are a lot of exhibitors offering different products and services. New to the convention this year is one of the biggest specialty manufacturer of movie, film, television and proprietary collectible figures, statues and high-end pieces, Sideshow Collectibles. AnimeNEXT 2015: AMV Sing-along! (Review)

It's the hour when karaoke and anime music videos collide: Scintilla presents a collection of the most sing-alongable AMVs to be found – complete with captions for the lyrically impaired. No talent needed, just lots of enthusiasm. Come on out and help send out AnimeNEXT 2015 on a high note!

At this year's AnimeNEXT, I checked out the AMV Sing-along! panel. If you're one of those that love anime theme songs and sings along whenever they're on, like me, then chances are, you probably attended this panel. Not only was the panel surprisingly fun, it was also the only one that needed no introduction – just straight to singing.

The room was small but the energy was enormous! Everybody participated and what was so good and hilarious about the whole event was of course the AMVs. The twist was, the songs were not the original theme of the anime being played. For example, Bleach with Pokemon theme song or One Piece with F.R.I.E.N.D.S. theme song. It was loads of fun!

This panel didn't have elaborate presentation nor did it have any Q&A portion. There was simply no need for it. It was perfect in its own way and was certainly more enjoyable than other panels I've covered. My jaw hurt from laughing so hard. In an overall disappointing day, I'm glad I checked out this panel. It definitely relieved some of my frustration, cooled my head off from the day's heat and saved me from regretting taking the long trip to the con.

AnimeNEXT 2015: Music behind Video Game Production (Review)

The SoundtRec Boston & Video Game Orchestra team will talk about working on the Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and many other video game soundtracks!

This year's AnimeNext, I checked out the Music behind Video Game Production panel. If you were ever curious how music production were done on video games and what goes behind the scenes, this panel would have been perfect for you, sadly, it was uneventful and painstakingly uninteresting.

First of all, the panel was way behind schedule. It didn't start until half an hour from its original time. It turns out the host wasn't even aware that the panel was still happening. That's a major communication error. As a result, the host was by himself and the whole presentation was a disappointment. None of the advertised orchestra team and other members was in attendance. The lone host literally just showed some of his work via his YouTube channel. He showed some behind the scenes of his team performing, as well as video games he had worked on such as Final Fantasy, Tekken, and Kingdom Hearts. And that was basically it. Less than 10 minutes and the remaining time were spent for Q&A.

From all the panels I have covered, by far this ranks the lowest. It was excruciatingly boring. That's very unfortunate, especially since the turnout was sizable and the room was so big, the orchestra could have actually performed to sample some of their music. There's really nothing else to say about this panel. I left halfway through in hope to catch better panels instead.

CREED Trailer, Rocky Comes Out of Retirement

The first trailer for Creed has just been released. It is part of the Rocky franchise unveiled by Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, and MGM Pictures. The film stars Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Johnson, the son of world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed.

Loving the trailer so far and I like the fact that it has an interesting approach instead of just cashing in on Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) right off the bat.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures comes award-winning filmmaker Ryan Coogler’s “Creed.” The film explores a new chapter in the “Rocky” story and stars Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone in his iconic role. The film also reunites Coogler with his “Fruitvale Station” star Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed.

Adonis Johnson (Jordan) never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there’s no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed’s legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa.

Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo—the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champ is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring.

With Rocky in his corner, it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title…but can he develop not only the drive but also the heart of a true fighter, in time to get into the ring?

The film also stars Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and English pro boxer Anthony Bellew. Creed opens in theaters on November 25th. Check out the trailer below.

'Fear The Walking Dead' New Trailer

A new trailer for Fear the Walking Dead, AMC’s companion series to The Walking Dead just got released. Still no Walkers in site but viewers are introduce to all the new characters of the series.

A companion series to “The Walking Dead,” the #1 show on television among adults 18-49, “Fear the Walking Dead” takes us back to the beginning of the zombie apocalypse – a time when the world was changing rapidly for reasons unknown, before anyone understood exactly what was happening, when life as everyone knew it was upended and altered in ways no one could have ever imagined. “Fear the Walking Dead” is executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and showrunner David Erickson and produced by AMC Studios. The series, set in Los Angeles, stars Kim Dickens as Madison, Cliff Curtis as Travis, Frank Dillane as Nick, Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia, Elizabeth Rodriguez as Liza, Ruben Blades as Daniel, Mercedes Mason as Ofelia and Lorenzo James Henrie as Chris.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie Full Trailer Released

The first full trailer and second teaser trailer for Boruto -Naruto the Movie- was just released. Spoiler alert *** The trailer feature the offspring of the original characters of the series namely Boruto, hit teammates Sarada and Mitsuki.

Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine gave a tagline for the film, "The curtain rises on the legend that will surpass all!!" The tagline in the visual above is, "Go beyond the legend. Take the reins of the new era."

Boruto is the son of the seventh Hokage Naruto who completely rejects his father. Behind this, he has feelings of wanting to surpass Naruto, who is respected as a hero. He ends up meeting his father's friend Sasuke, and requests to become... his apprentice!? The curtain rises on the story of the new generation written by MasashiKishimoto!

Original Naruto manga creator Masashi Kishimoto is credited with the original story, script, and character designs, in addition to being the chief production supervisor for the film. Meanwhile, rock band KANA-BOON song "Diver" is the theme song for the feature. The film will open in Japanese theaters on August 7. Check out the trailers below.

HITMAN: AGENT 47 Full Trailer

The first full trailer for Hitman: Agent 47 was just released. The film is a reboot of the popular video game property and stars Rupert Friend as the titular character. The idea of getting another adaptation seems to not set well for a lot of people. However, I find the trailer action pack and entertaining even with some details that are highly questionable.

HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research and forty-six earlier Agent clones — endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.

First-timer Aleksander Bach directed the film and also stars Hannah Ware and Zachary Quinto. Other cast includes Ciarán Hinds, Thomas Kretschmann, and Emilio Rivera. Hitman: Agent 47 will be released August 21st nationwide. Check out the trailer below.

DRAGON BLADE Official Trailer

Lionsgate has just released a new trailer for Daniel Lee’s action epic Dragon Blade. The film stars Jackie Chan, Adrien Brody and John Cusack. For those not familiar, it follows a clash between Eastern and Western Cultures in the Silk Road.

A massive success this year in its native China, “Dragon Blade” brings action spectacle on a grand scale to US audiences. Featuring an international cast led by Jackie Chan, John Cusack and Academy Award-winner Adrien Brody, the film features the fight for the Silk Road when East and West collide. When corrupt Roman leader Tiberius (Adrien Brody) arrives with a giant army to claim the Silk Road, Huo An (Jackie Chan) and his group of trained warriors teams up with an elite legion of defected Roman soldiers led by General Lucius (John Cusack) to maintain the delicate balance of power in the region. To protect his country and his new friends, Huo An gathers the warriors of thirty-six ethnic nations together to fight Tiberius in an incredible epic battle. The film is directed by Daniel Lee (“Black Mask”) and produced by Jackie Chan and Susanna Tsang.

“Ghost in the Shell” Watch By Independent

'Hotel Transylvania 2' New Trailer Released

A new trailer for the animated sequel Hotel Transylvania 2 has just been released by Sony Pictures. The film is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky and stars Adam Sandler as Dracula, Mel Brooks as his Dad and Selena Gomez as his daughter Mavis.

The Drac pack is back for an all-new monster comedy adventure in Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 2! Everything seems to be changing for the better at Hotel Transylvania… Dracula’s rigid monster-only hotel policy has finally relaxed, opening up its doors to human guests. But behind closed coffins, Drac is worried that his adorable half-human, half-vampire grandson, Dennis, isn’t showing signs of being a vampire. 'The Peanuts Movie' New Trailer Released

A brand new trailer for The Peanuts Movie just got released. The 3D computer-animated comedy film is treading into new territory but still have the original comics version feel. It is directed by Steve Martino and will be due in theaters in 3D on November 6, 2015.

'Dragon Ball Super' TV Anime Visual and Trailer

The first visual and trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super TV anime series has been released following it’s official announcement back in April.

Reuniting the franchise’s iconic characters, the series will follow the aftermath of the Majin Buu Saga, when the Earth has become peaceful once again.

Dragon Ball’s original creator Akira Toriyama is credited for "original story and character concepts". Meanwhile, Toei Animation’s Kimitoshi Chioka is the series director and is produced with Fuji Television.

New Trailer Revealed for STREET FIGHTER V

New High Action SPECTRE TV Spot

A new TV spot for the James Bond Film, Spectre starring Daniel Craig has been released. The film opens November 6th and also stars Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ralph Fiennes as M, Christoph Waltz as Oberhauser, Monica Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, David Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Léa Seydoux as Madeleine Swann and Stephanie Sigman as Estrella.

SENYC 2015: Special Edition NYC Convention Review

This year, ReedPop just held their 2nd annual Special Edition NYC (SENYC). A comics-focused convention considered as the little sibling of New York Comic Con that promotes comic book culture created specifically for comic book fans, creators, and publishers of the industry. This year, it was definitely visible that the convention had a great turnout. As I was just getting into the event I saw a huge amount of people lining up to order New York Comic Con tickets that made available for the attendees of the event.

First, let’s go back a couple months before the event. ReedPop, with plenty of experience running shows, promoted the event well. All the information you would need for attending the convention was available on the website. Guest list announcements, artist cancellation, and updates were provided on a timely manner leading up to the convention. Social Media was also utilized to provide information as I was getting updated information on Instagram.

So, what about the venue you asked? This year, the convention was held at Pier 94. Its first and somewhere I have never been to before. Previously, the convention was held in the ‘Artist Alley’ section of the Jacob Javitz Center. Since it's in NYC, the location is still easily accessible by public transportation. I highly advised against driving into the venue not unless you are willing to pay for parking. Now for my minor caveat, though the venue is bigger, the inside is not attractive, comfortable, or even well-lit. It was a working pier at one time so it had a very industrial look with large pipes running across the ceilings. It got too hot at times especially with the crowd that I had to step out a couple of times. The venue was not air-conditioned, for anyone interested to know. Another observation is that the entire queue line is outside. It would have been bad if it rained all weekend. Luckily, the weather was nice for most of the time so it was not an issue, though it could’ve been. I do have to give kudos to the convention staffs who were very helpful and kept everything organized. Nonetheless, many of the attendees I spoke to miss the space and the lights of the previous venue. However, most cosplayers, which had a higher presence this year enjoyed the wonderful exterior since Pier 94 is connected to an outside park. Definitely an advantage of Pier 94 over the Javitz Center because it was a great photography spot for cosplayers and photographers. I'm not even going to lie, I also enjoy this fact since I like taking photos of cosplayers in addition to the actual happenings in the event. And having a great location makes a lot of difference on how the photos comes out.

As for this year's guest list, though overall everyone enjoyed the selection of artist that was present in the event, It was not as star-filled like the previous year. This is according to several attendees I spoke to. However, there were a couple of standout guests that the attendees enjoyed seeing such as Brian Michael Bendis, Scott Snyder and Robbi Rodriguez. The turnout for these guests was great. Definitely, a success that needs to be noted since it's one of the main focus of the convention.

Meanwhile on the exhibitors side. Since, there were more space available in the venue, it allowed for more vendors. There were plenty of vendors offering everything from wall posters, comics and comic character inspired toys. I was definitely tempted to buy a couple of items during the event but had to control myself since I don’t have any room for it.

Overall, in its second year, Special Edition NYC is definitely a convention worth the price of admission. If you're a fan of comic culture, cosplay, or just enjoy attending conventions, it's a must go especially if you're in the NYC area. I personally enjoyed the fact that there was a park outside the venue for cosplay photography. Though, I hope it moves back to Javits. Nonetheless, it was a fun weekend and I can’t wait to see what they bring out next year. There is always room for improvement.

New Visual For The All-New 'Yowamushi Pedal' Film Released

New visuals for the upcoming all new feature film based on Wataru Watanabe's road bicycle racing-themed manga Yowamushi Pedal just got released. Osamu Nabeshima will serve as general director of the film with director Norihiro Naganum and Reiko Yoshida provides the screenplay based on the original story written by Watane. Mean while, all the main voice cast returns to reprise their roles.

The story is set in the "Hinokuni Yamanami" race in Kumamoto Prefecture after the Interhigh championship. The film is scheduled to open in Japan on August 28. Check out the new visual and teaser trailer below. Click on the image for a larger and better view.

SENYC 2015: Special Edition NYC Gallery

Special Edition NYC (SENYC) is a comics-focused convention. For its second year, ReedPop opted out of Javits’ North Pavilion (NYCC Artist Allery) for Pier 92/94 as its new venue. The convention is catered specifically for comic book fans, creators, and publishers of the industry. This year, it featured amazing talents such as Brian Michael Bendis, Scott Snyder, Robbi Rodriguez and Amy Reeder to name a few.

The show had a great turnout due to a few reasons. The main one being due to the people coming to buy NYCC tickets that made available for the attendees of the event, as well as staying around to enjoy the convention. Follow SENYC on Facebook and Twitter for information on future dates and hopefully a new location. Stay tuned for a full review of the convention.

'Dragon Ball Super' Premieres in Japan on July 5th

The first new Dragon Ball series since Dragon Ball GT from 1996-97 is set to debut in Japan on Sunday July 5 at 9AM. Broadcast of Dragon Ball Kai series will end before then according to this year’s 28th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

The new series is dubbed Dragon Ball Super and it takes place a few years after the defeat of Majin Buu. There is no plot information available at this time. However, it’s reported that Kazuya Yoshii will perform the opening theme "Chōzetsu☆Dynamic" (Excellent Dynamic) and rock band Good Morning America will perform the ending theme "Hello Hello Hello." Masako Nozawa, the voice of Goku, Gohan, and Goten, is returning for the series, and Toei Animation’s Kimitoshi Chioka will direct.

What is the Best Kind of Social Media Content?

Do you struggle with creating or curating content for your social media platforms? For some business owners, it can be a challenge. They aren’t sure where to start, and they are told that they can’t talk about their business. This is true to an extent. You can sell your business on social media, but it needs to be done in a slightly different way and can’t be in your face marketing like people are used to. Your customers and community expect a different experience on social media than they do watching TV, reading the newspaper, or listening to the radio, even when these traditional experiences are online.

The bulk of your content should be engaging and relevant to your customers and community. The trick is to think about your customers like they are your friends or family in the sense that when you are with friends or family, you all share stories, information or jokes that you think they will enjoy. You share something that will make them, smile, laugh or think, something that will start a conversation.

Have you ever met someone at a party or had a friend who would only talk about themselves? It's very unpleasant and that's how it can come off if all you do is talk about your brand on social media. You want to have a two-way conversation.

The best conversations start from stories or questions based on experiences. It was studied and reported by Dr. Leaf Van Boven that we get more pleasure out of experiences than materialistic purchases, which makes sense because experiences resonate and stay with us for a very long time.

What's better "I went on vacation and watched the sun set over the pacific ocean." or "I bought a TV at Target over the weekend."

ActorsFCU, a credit union that services entertainment professionals working on Broadway posed the question on their Facebook page "What was your first Broadway Show?" This struck a very big chord with the Facebook fans, getting over 200 comments and 30+ shares. The reason this was successful is that ActorsFCU was really talking to the members on a personal level and tapping into their personal experiences. An experience, in fact, that was very fundamental in their career path.

By sharing content that you think your audience, community, and customers will like and relate to, it shows that you care, and understand them. It also adds a human element to your company and allow you to engage your customers and give them a reason to participate. It can take some time to figure out what your customers will really like but once you do you will be well on your way to building a strong social media presence and community.

Z FOR ZACHARIAH Trailer Features Post-Apocalyptic Love Triangle

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have released the first Z for Zachariah trailer. The film stars Margot Robbie as a young woman who thought she was the only one who survived a nuclear war. One day, she finds a fellow survivor (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and they begin to form a bond, but their relationship is tested when another man (Chris Pine) enters the picture.

I always believed that Margot Robbie will be a huge star and this movie will help prove it. She is the total package of beauty and talent. Of course, it helps that she's with two fine actors also.

New MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION Trailer Features Hi-Tech Thrills

Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. The fifth entry to the Mission: Impossible franchise finds Tom Cruise and his IMF gang attempting to take down “The Syndicate”, a worldwide criminal organization described as the “anti-IMF”. The film is co-written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher).

If you still didn’t know, I’m a huge Tom Cruise fan and watching this new trailer makes me very upset that it’s not July yet. I can’t wait to watch this film. The trailer features new toys and more death-defying stunts that make your jaw drop.

Watch the new trailer below. The film opens in IMAX and traditional theaters on July 31st, and also stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, and Alec Baldwin.

'All Esper Dayo!' Official Teaser Trailer

The official teaser trailer for Sion Sono’s upcoming science fiction comedy film All Esper Dayo! has been released. The film is based of the manga of the same name created by Kiminori Wakasugi and revolves around a high school student that develops psychic powers along with other people at his school.

'Vacation' New Trailer

A new trailer for Vacation, the upcoming reboot from New Line Cinema just got released. The film is written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. The film stars Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann and Chris Hemsworth with cameos from comedians like Keegan-Michael Key, Nick Kroll and Charlie Day.

The next generation of Griswolds is at it again. New Line Cinema’s “Vacation,” starring Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Christina Applegate (the “Anchorman” films), takes the family on the road for another ill-fated adventure. The film marks Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s directorial debut.

Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.

Rounding out the cast are Leslie Mann (“The Other Woman”) as Rusty’s sister, Audrey; Chris Hemsworth (the “Thor” films) in the role of Stone Crandall, Rusty’s irritatingly successful brother-in-law; and Skyler Gisondo (“Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,” “Hard Sell”) and Steele Stebbins (“A Haunted House 2”), who play Rusty’s sons, James and Kevin. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the classic “Vacation” comedies.

Joe Dirt 2 Red Band Trailer

Yes, you read it right Joe Dirt 2 is coming and it comes with a new red-band trailer as proof. The follow-up for the 2001 comedy film brings back David Spade and most of the cast, surprisingly enough even Christopher Walken.

While living his “perfect life”, Dirt gets sucked into a tornado and is transported to the year 1965, Wizard of Oz-style. The story finds David Spade’s character attempting to get back to the present while ensuring that history—and thus his future—remains unchanged.

The film is helmed by Fred Wolf, written by Spade and also stars Patrick Warburton, Adam Beach, Brittany Daniel, DJ Zander Kelly, Mark McGrath and Dennis Miller. The film will be streaming exclusively on Crackle starting July 10th. Check out the NSFW trailer below.
