I think patience has never been my strong point. I’m always hasty to see results, whether it is from my own work, other people, plants or just my own efforts at self-improvement. I still have to learn that change takes time, work takes time and results take time. And then when they happen faster than we think, then it’s time to celebrate and be happy. It reminds me a bit of the movie “School of Life”, where the school basketball team was so bad they were always losing. And then a new teacher shows them that they should cheer, no matter who scores and even when they make a mistake. And somehow that changed their morale and that changed their play so they improved. Cheering even when we fail somehow helps us to keep the right perspective. And sometimes results just creep up on us. Maybe people would call it the power of positive thinking. Or maybe it’s just that when we start looking away from the negative that we finally see the positive.

So I am celebrating the radishes…their tenacity in breaking through the soil to bask in the warmth of the sun. They are my little heroes this week. I want to be like that – striving upward.

I’ve started a new little project; “my herb garden” where I’m trying to grow some herbs. For lack of a garden where I live, I’ve planted the seeds in pots. Now all I have to do is wait. The first little seedlings are starting to come up and it’s all very exciting. I decided to document my journey with my seeds and see if someday I can post a picture of my flourishing little herb pot (which is uncertain as the seeds I used are very old!). Here are the first pictures of my pots. The one is a little rosemary plant my mom gave me, so that at least is already there!

This weekend I’m going to another wedding and this time I will hopefully get to take some pictures with my own camera as well. I’m really looking forward to it although I’m also a bit scared. I don’t want to mess up and I really want to learn some more about the ins and outs of wedding photography. So watch this space…there may be something worth seeing here soon :)

My latest photos were taken at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, where I went with my parents for a little outing. The flowers are awesome this time of the year, and in honour of it being spring day today, I decided to post a few spring flowers!

That evening we put some candles on and suddenly I remembered to take photos of them. They turned out so funky. Sometimes I really have to remind myself to take photos and to use the opportunities that are around in everyday life.

Yesterday I did some experimenting that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I’ve had some old books lying around just for that purpose (of course I’ve read them too!) But I had them ready for a while now, as I wanted to take some photos of old books after seeing some beautiful pics around the Web. So, here are my attempts at vintage books in the afternoon light. (Oh how dreamy the light gets just before the sun goes down. I love it! It’s all warm and glowy and rich!! Can’t wait to do a photoshoot with someone in the same light. They’ll be so radiant, I know it!
