In the diagram, A, B, C, and D represent the positions of 4 towns. AB = 12km, BC = 9km and D is due north of A. The bearings of B from A and D are

respectively. Find
(a) the distance AC,
(b) the bearing of C from A
(c) the distance BD
(d) the shortest distance from B to a road running along AD.

A building AB, located on the top of a terrace, is 50m high. From a point C on the ground, the angles of elevation of the top A and the base B of the building are 42 degrees and 27 degrees respectively. Find
(a) the distance AC,
(b) the horizontal distance from C to the building,
(c) the height of the terrace.

Answer:
First, we need to build the triangle to represent the one in the diagram, with all the related angles that can be found stated.

a) Using Sine Rule:

b) the horizontal distance from C to the building = CD

Hence, the horizontal distance from C to the building = 128m

c) height of the terrace = BD

Hence, the height of the terrace = 65.2m

Hi Students,

Welcome back to the E-Maths Crash Course again. We had a great learning time in Module 01. Now, in Module 02, we are going to accelerate our learning pace and get ourselves ready to face the challenge of O-Level Examination.

Thank you all, my dear students, for giving us a chance again to help you excel in the examination. We'll no doubt put our best foot forward to strike your goal.

Last week my schedule really jam-packed, no time to update the blog. My apology above that.

Today, we just have finished the E-Maths (Module 02) Lesson 02. The topics that covered as below:

However, completing the Crash Course (Module 1) does not mean you can stop revising. Please keep your momentum and put in more effort as you can do it better.

How to practice more E-Mathsquestions in shortest time.

Often, when the exam is coming soon, students will encounter a problem while trying to practice more questions.

Below are a few tips to practice more questions in short period:

1. Do more challenging questions first.

Normally, in an assessment book, the easier questions come first, followed by the tougher question. If the assessment book is in topical format, you may try the last question, normally denoted with a *, or highlighted by the book. If you are comfortable in solving a few of such questions, you may proceed to do another topic.

2.Think, with no writiing.

It maybe very time consuming if you want to write down all the steps and working to get the answer. Furthermore, normally students are facing the problem of understanding the questions during exam, rather than don't know certain topic. Hence, this is to practice the students on understanding the question pattern and hence help in solving question in shorter time.

3.Learn beyond scope.

Normally, experience help when solving question. If the scope of learning is only to know how to solve simple questions, find more challenging questions to do. It will not be a waste to know more than current scope, as eventually students will learn it in higher level, however, keep in mind that, if we know how to solve the questions of higher level, normally to solve lower level questions will not be tough.

4.Practice, Practice, and Practice

Although we have summarize on how to practice more effectively, practices are still something that must not be missed. Students need to do a lot of practices, to prepare for the high tension environment during exam. For students with more practices, normally the questions will be solved with ease.
