Veikkausliiga transfers for season 2012

A lot of transfers will be made before the season starts in April,but these are confirmed - apart from the ones in red which are atm only strong rumours - and applicable in the League Cup where most teams will have a lot of test players at their disposal. I am not even remotely claiming that these are 100 % at the time you read these, but it should give a clue. Only HJK have money at disposal, the rest of the clubs suffer economically and most clubs want to get rid of players and replace them with U-18 kids.

As you can imagine there is not much going on during the winter months in Finnish football - but definitely always something!

The League Cup will kick off the 13th of January when the Champions HJK will host the newly promoted FC Lahti indoors at Tali halli. The full schedule as it is published below, the teams are divided into 3 groups and 8 teams will get into the quarter-finals in March or April. Most matches indoors, the times are + 2 GMT.

It is easiest to check from Wikipedia what happened in the Veikkausliiga last season and use that as a base for the League Cup analysis, along with the latest transfers outlined in another posting above.

Holiday time

The very busy - fortunately also very profitable - season of Finnish football is over and I am off for holidays for a couple of months. After relaxing a bit there will be a thorough data mining of what really happened at 2011 and why, what went well betting-wise and what went wrong. The results will be for personal use and development only, very few picks were publicly published so it would be silly to start referring to them now.

If you are not yet receiving the Free Edition of the Newsletter or feel like you have been left out at some point you can order it from below. There has been some hassle with copying and pasting addresses and with the strict US spamming rules (home of the server) so I know for sure that some of the addresses have been deleted accidentally and I could not even add them there back myself.

Next Newsletter however will not be out for some time as the season just finished, but when it is out you better be prepared!

Not much to add, especially the second half performance of Finland was the best in years and the horrid times of Stuart Baxter´s regime are vanishing from my mind. The team is young, talented, relaxed, confident and optimistic. UEFA stats.
