I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Greg Justice and I’m pleased to be part of the Freethinking Nation.

Over the next few months, I will share with you a base of knowledge that has made me the World’s Leading Authority on…my opinions.

Let’s dissect what it means to be a Freethinking Renegade.

To be Freethinking means to be a person who forms opinions on the basis of reason, independent of authority or tradition.

A Renegade is a person who deserts a party or cause for another…sometimes called a traitor, deserter or dissenter.

So, a Freethinking Renegade is someone who lives by his or her own rules, founded on reason and separated from another’s belief system, if deemed necessary.

Christians live by five pillars of Salvation; there are five Pillars of Islam, and four Pillars or Truths of Buddhism.

Each of our lives has pillars on which we build, grow, and evolve. For me they are:

• Faith
• Family
• Fitness
• Finances
• Friends

It’s not my place to judge anyone but myself, based on my expectations of the ‘F’ pillars listed above.

In my upcoming posts, I’ll dig in a little deeper with each of the five pillars I’ve built my life around and share some of my experiences, including:

• How I live my faith
• How my family nurtures my existence
• What role fitness plays in my life
• The importance of money
• My first meeting with Brian Grasso

Even if you haven’t written them out, each of us live by certain pillars…good, bad, or indifferent.

We are a product of our genetics, environment, and everything we’ve ever experienced.

We are exactly where we have chosen to be, based on our choices.

If you’re not happy with your current situation, reevaluate the rules under which you live and do what’s necessary to facilitate change.

Until Next Time, Greg

Busy busy busy! This is the way most people would describe their weeks. My question to them is, Why? What are you trying to avoid? Many people are creating an escape from themselves. The noise on the outside blocks the sound of their own voice screaming for attention. Internal frustration seeking external appreciation. How can we make it all stop?! This is the question you must ask yourself.

I saw a picture the other day that said, “All you Need is LESS.”. I felt this was a powerful statement. Instead of taking things off our plate and slowing life down, we tend to add more and more. The more money or material things we get, the more we feel we need. The truth is most people will benefit from doing less. We can all agree that less bills would be a good thing. We need to consume less and live life more. The concept of Less is More, is really powerful if you begin to implement it into your life. Less outside noise equals more understanding of self. I believe that self knowledge is the missing key to understanding others. We are so busy working with or for others that we have lost contact with ourself.

There are many ways and “techniques” that people use to reconnect with themselves. I believe any technique can work if you believe it works but I want to share something very simple that you can do. Sit alone in silence and have a conversation with yourself. No guided meditation, special music, or DVD to listen to. Just be alone with the star character of this movie called Life. Listen to yourself, follow where your thoughts take you, give yourself feedback, etc. Take this moment to be your full self. If there is something you don’t like about yourself or something you don’t like about your current life situation, create steps to change it. Give yourself ideas and advice. You will be surprised at how good of a friend you can be, ha.

I may have gotten off topic but the point I want you to take away is that we all need to slow down and take time for ourselves. This is not a selfish thing. It is something you need , to keep your sanity and discover the internal self which is the real you. Do not fear self, embrace it, love it, and guide it to the life it deserves to live.

I remember with crystal clarity where I was and what I was doing when he said those words to me. Silence filled the room.

I wanted to laugh at the absurdity of his statement. I wanted to cry at the belief I observed in his eyes when he said it. I wanted to shake him and scream “You are crazy!”

Instead, I was silent for a time – trying to just breathe.

“What makes you think you don’t have a good memory?” I asked. It took great effort to mask my incredulity.

He proceeded to explain why he couldn’t remember things – leaving his shoes at school, forgetting to turn lights out, losing his homework… I heard my own voice in his, as he described things I had admonished him for. Had I inadvertently taught him that he didn’t “have a good memory”?

It was time to help him change his story.

“What about soccer facts?” I asked.

“I know everything about soccer!” he said with pride.

“What about the poems we like to read and Dr. Seuss books?”

“Well, those are easy things to remember, Mom.” He said, slightly exasperated.

“And what about the multiplication tables, or French words, or spelling tests?”

“Mom, that stuff’s not hard. This is hard!” He said, pointing to the work that he “couldn’t” memorize.

“Okay. It may feel harder than other things you have learned.” He seemed to sit up now, excited that I might be conceding. “But, what do you think about your memory?”

“I can remember things I’m interested in.” He said thoughtfully.

“So, is it true that you don’t have a good memory?”

“No, I guess not. But I don’t want to memorize this, Mom. I’m allowed to have cue cards.”

After breathing a huge sigh of relief internally, I smiled at him. I rested my hand upon his. “That, my love, is your true story.”

Children can be powerful mirrors reflecting for us many truths we cannot always see in ourselves. We have our own stories. We help children create their “truths” too.

This event certainly provided the foundation for great introspection for me.

It also identified for me how important it is for us – as parents, teachers, caregivers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, coaches and mentors of children – to listen, to truly hear, to discuss, and where appropriate to challenge the stories our youth are telling themselves.

Perhaps, if we can can equip them with the tools necessary to see themselves in youth, they can change their stories before they become self-fulfilling prophecies. And they can change the world.

When I wrote ‘Life by Numbers’ I was unearthing a truth.

The single factor within the human experience that connects us all…

We are mortal.

And will die.

I’ve never been a big observer of the motivational industry.

Everything always seems to happy, up-beat, positive and exciting.

Quite frankly, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

As if I’m being lied to and cajoled into a state of euphoria where all is wonderful and the lights are always on.

Creating life goals or learning how to achieve goals in life from such a place, in my strong opinion, is not only inadequate, but a downright contradiction in truth.

Darkness is part of our fabric.

Death, the final phase of life.

Neither are to be shunned, feared or in any way mischaracterized for something they are not.

The political ramifications aside, I have always been somewhat intrigued by the Freemasons of secret society fame.

An age-old, cult-like group whose members throughout history have been among the most powerful, revolutionary and recognized in the world.

Da Vinci, Bell, Washington and Roosevelt just to name a few.

In reading about the Freemason journey – or, at least the parts they allow the public to know about – I was always struck by the traditional initiation marked by ascending to their ‘32nd degree’ category. Known to be the highest rank a Freemason can achieve within that organization.

Newly anointed 32nd degree members are locked in a private room with limited light, a table, one sheet of paper, a pen, human skull and various other symbols that promote the feelings of death.

Mortality, humanity and transience.

It is during this private time in that room, they are asked to connect to our universally shared truth… That one day, we will die.

The piece of paper and pen are used to creating their life goals.

Under the duress of experiencing their mortality.

Most of society views this tradition has cultish and negative.

I view it as a stroke of genius.

Do you really want to create lavish life goals that speak to your soul and learn how to achieve your goals with purpose and passion?

Do so absent the shrills and fake façade of the motivational industry.

Instead, connect to your only absolute truth.

That you won’t be here forever. So best start now….

As a short film, “Life by Numbers” has become a worldwide smash sensation because of exactly this point…

… It gives you a truth that you are too afraid to think about yourself.

Watch it here and now >>> www.LifebyNumbersMovie.com

Everyone has their life-event filled story. Something I’ve learned and come to appreciate in my 40+ years here is that for everyone, life will send you up to some of the highest highs and just as quickly and unexpectedly (right when you thought you’d figured it all out) shoot you down to some places you’d never want to be.

In some ways, it happens over and over…And then, one day, you’ll be dealt a set of circumstances. For some it’s a crisis, others a tragedy. It is at this very point, when something that isn’t you Breaks…

You come to get a close look at your self-image (the good the bad the ugly the best the worst) and you’ll either continue to look outside yourself for meaning or, you will define your-True-Self.

What I think I’ve also come to learn is that your self-image will chase money, houses, cars, drugs, sex and other addictions calling it “Being Rich.”

But, what you’re really looking for in terms of becoming rich is ONLY found inside your true self. The pain you’re feeling now or not is determined by how much you’ve bought into that lie and chased those false prophets. Some wake up and say, ENOUGH! I’m going to live my life, even if I “die” in the process.

Ultimately, your circumstances will become something you come to see as the most valuable thing that shapes you.

Or, you’ll just become another forgotten tragedy.

This is being rich or, becoming poor. Whichever goal you choose; it is your uniquely your choice.

“STUPID – The New Rules for Goal Setting & Life Success”

I’ve said a lot about why I’m not a huge fan of creating life goals or learning how to achieve goals.

And it all has to do with the internal chemistry of our unconscious mind.

No one can out-goal-set a bad mindset.

And yet, you try to. All the time. With every New Year’s resolution and every life goals book you buy.

So here is a brief overview of ‘STUPID’ and why I feel it is the direction you need to go if living the life of your dreams is something you want to stop thinking about and start doing…

Let me start by explaining ‘STUPID’.

It is, admittedly, my efface of the commonly held belief we have towards the acronym ‘SMART’ as it relates to creating life goals.

S = Specific
M = Measureable
A = Attainable
R = Realistic
T = Timely

Here’s my problem…

When we are too ‘specific’, we disable the sense of positive uncertainty that flows towards us from a universal source that knows more than we do. We say we want ‘x’, but if ‘y’ appears – no matter how much ‘y’ is a better fit for us or how much it could become the perfect stepping stone to get to ‘x’ – we assume failure and become demoralized.

When we spend too much time seeing whether or not our life goals are ‘measureable’, our focus becomes too attached to the endpoint; our proposed destination. As with everything in ‘FTR’ and life, I ask that you detach from all outcomes in full faith that what we want – as long as we are in alignment – will materialize in the timing it is meant to.

What isn’t ‘attainable’? Truly, when we start to convince our unconscious mind that we have restrictions, limits or confines to what it is we want in life, we begin the action of playing small. And that serves no one.

In terms of ‘realistic’, see above. I shudder to think how many people I’ve known in my life who aim small and shallow with their life goals simply because they were afraid of seeming too unrealistic or idealistic. And yet as we have seen through history, it is only ever the dreamers and visionaries who create epic revolutions.

‘Timely’ is not unlike ‘Measureable’ in my eyes. It requires us to focus on an outcome and then attach ourselves to that outcome. In this case, an outcome within a specific time frame. Firstly, you don’t control time; so why bother trying to organize your life goals around it? Secondly, you – like me – are well versed in modern-day motivational quotes that include language involving perseverance and the need to keep at it in order to find success. That being said, if we do not actualize our goals within the time frames we initially wanted, we quit; dejected and defeated.

Thus ‘STUPID’ was born….

S = Self-Aware

The need to go inside yourself in order to ascertain who you really are – absent influence from your immediate circles, society, past experiences or any other external factors.

If we are not self-aware, we will never know who we really are or what we truly want.

T = Truth

There is no such thing as a ‘truth’ or a ‘lie’ as it relates to unconscious programming. Just the story we tell ourselves.

But that story is 100% factual and on every level, the ‘truth’ that our lives have become.

Creating real life goals is a measure of understanding the stories we are telling and then learning how to change them in order to get what we want.

U – Undulating

The natural world ebbs and flows with ease. Nothing is linear. Within the human experience, we rise and fall in the same manner.

Learning to accept, predict and flow with our natural sense is not only empowering at the soul level, but an unmistakable necessity within the realm of actualizing life goals.

P = Permission

The rationale that we must ‘believe’ we can achieve our goals is a misnomer; the unconscious brain is very powerful and influenced very heavily by:

Our past experiences

Our self-talk

Our circles of persuasion

Our society’s general Zeitgeist

We cannot override these powerful systems be ‘forcing’ ourselves to believe that which we cannot see.

Rather than ‘belief’, we must re-train the unconscious brain and give it permission to merely ‘accept’ the new image of ourselves that we place in it. This comes from a system of creating a new ‘story’ and then frequently ‘showing’ that story to our unconscious brain.

I = Intuitive

The very important difference between ‘Self’ and ‘Self-Image’.

Intuition is commonly discussed, but largely misunderstood. Every time we get ‘bad feelings’ about something or ‘good feelings’ about something, we assume that this is an intuitional response… But that is only true if we have gone inside ourselves and truly connected with our true self. In the absence of that connection, what we are really hearing is our ‘self-image’ – which is based on a variety of negative factors (perception of others, perceptions of self, self-talk, past experiences etc).

D = Detach

Once the intention has been crafted and the ‘internal’ work is underway, we must detach from the outcome of our goal attainment.

When it happens, how it happens, why it’s happening, what we need to do to make it happen… These are all realities of an organism that is far too attached to the outcome – the attachment of which indicates a lack of trust in our ‘story’ and the ability of our brain to ‘accept’ our new truth.

As brief an overview as I could make it!!

“STUPID” will be out soon. A new way to look at creating life goals and learning how to achieve your goals is on its way….
