Golden State Warriors Day Celebration

“Thanks to the Golden State Warriors, fans have enjoyed the best season in recent history as our Warriors made it to the playoffs for just the second time in 19 years. This season was filled with memories that will stay with Warriors fans for a lifetime, including record-breaking performances by Stephen Curry who had a league-high 54 points in a single game against the Knicks, and who now holds the record for most three-pointers made in a single season.” – Mayor Lee

There will be a free bbq and live music from California rock ‘n roll band, Honeydust. The event honors the nation’s veterans, but this is no solemn commemoration – drinking, dancing and bar games abound.

The Dugout Bar is a cash only with no ATM on site and no outside alcohol is not allowed. They do have free pool, shuffleboard, HD TVs and a jukebox.

While we don’t know the exact details fro 2013 yet, in 2012 all vets got their first drink free with military ID. Stay tuned for more info.

All tours are free and open to the public, but donations are welcome.

Memorial Day Guided Walking Tours

• 9:30 am - Japanese Tea Garden - Learn about the icons of the Japanese Tea Garden and the family that lived there. The Monday morning tour does not require admission
• 10 am - Chinatown - Explore local alleys and walk among sites of temples and tongs, and shops of joss, dim sum, herbs.
• 11 am - Sigmund Stern Grove - Discover this 63-acre city park, the jewel of the Sunset District. Walk through beautiful meadows and learn about the area’s colorful history, including how it escaped being turned into a residential community.
• 11 am - Fisherman’s Wharf: A Hidden History  - Go behind the scenes of this vital part of San Francisco’s past and present to see great old ships and unexpected vistas.
• 11 am - Bawdy & Naughty - This two-block stroll explores how, starting with the Gold Rush, professional women arrived to become a part of San Francisco’s legend and lore. Learn about Belle Cora, Ah Toy, French parlor houses, and Barbary Coast dives.

• 2 pm - Embarcadero Skyway - Take flight (sort of) as most of this tour is above the ground. View “Rockefeller Center West” from a different angle and discover a hidden urban oasis. Tread on buried ships that once housed saloons, jails, stores and brothels.
• 7 pm - North Beach By Night - The other side of North Beach history – that of its bars, bordellos and beatniks – comes alive on this evening tour.

Cypress Lawn invites the public in the observance of its 17th Annual Memorial Day Program to be held at 1 pm on May 27, 2013.

Every year Cypress Lawn pays tribute to all veterans for their service. All families and friends of veterans and the general public are welcome to join in a memorial service for the fallen heroes. Cypress Lawn is proud to sponsor the largest annual Memorial Day event and Avenue of Flags in San Mateo County.

Complimentary light refreshments will be served.

The Presidio’s annual Memorial Day commemoration includes a parade of the 191st Army Band, veterans’ organizations and distinguished guests. It starts at 10:30 am at the Main Post (near Sheridan and Lincoln Blvd.), and ends at the San Francisco National Cemetery.

The formal program begins at 11 am and includes music and remarks by military and civilian dignitaries. The 2013 ceremony will pay tribute to World War II and Korean War Veterans. At noon, a 21-gun salute by the U.S. Army’s 75th Pacific Division signals the end of the program.

Tours of the National Cemetery will follow.

2013 Memorial Day Commemoration & Parade

Special Event Shuttle
A free special shuttle service will be provided from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm to serve Memorial Day visitors attending the ceremony at San Francisco National Cemetery. The shuttle will operate on a continuous loop between the Main Post (near the corner of Graham Street and Sheridan) and National Cemetery.

This is an afternoon show that starts at 4 pm (doors open at 3pm) in the patio with plenty of music to last all evening. Five bands, plus a free BBQ,  Drink specials, pool table and shuffle board.

The 2013 Memorial Day ceremony will be held at the second fountain on the Main Avenue of the cemetery.

Complimentary refreshments will follow the ceremony. Docent Dennis Evanosky will lead a guided tour of the refurbished Civil War plot and other areas of notables that are buried in the cemetery.

Nestled at the foot of majestic Mt. Tamalpais, Downtown Larkspur lets you enjoy California’s summer offerings and nature’s bouquets while tasting the Bay Area’s gourmet foods during the 24th annual Larkspur Flower & Food Festival filled with music, food and flowers for all ages on May 26, 2013.

Back by popular demand, the Marin Salsa Tasting Competition will feature local chefs vying for the coveted People’s Choice Award, followed by live salsa music. Gourmet and specialty food vendors will be sampling their products and inspiring the home chef.

The festival will also feature flower-related arts and crafts to buy, plus dancing in the streets to the music of local Marin bands. Fun kid’s activities will be sponsored by the Twin Cities Co-Op.
