Most number of Dishes on Display in a Single Day World Record 2010

Filipino chefs and students gathered in Manila today in a bid to break the Guiness World Record for ‘The most number of dishes on display in a single day’.

As the event held at the Araneta coliseum was sponsored by Kraft Eden cheese, the culinary experts were required to come up with 5,000 meals containing cheese to beat the previous record, set by India in 2007, of 4,668 dishes.

Cooks from local esteemed culinary institutions including Regina Carmeli, St. Paul College, Centro Escolar University, Emilio Aguinaldo College, La Consolacion College and Arellano University all tried their best to come up with innovative and tasty cheese treats.

Prior to the record attempt, Alex Tacdera, the category manager for cheese and spoonables at Kraft Food Philippines, said: ‘We believe that in this time of challenges, it is important to remember not what we have lost but what we still have as a nation.

‘We hold in our hands the innate Filipino creativity and love for food that when put together can empower our pride for our country.’

Guinness World Records confirmed they are waiting to receive evidence from the event before they will be able to confirm whether the group have broken the world record.

When the plan to attempt to break the record was announced last month, guests were treated to dishes including beef tenderloin baked in Eden cheese, roasted vegetables and cheese terrine served with tepenade, pineapple cheese sorbet with a lemongrass coulis and praline chocolates with a cheese filling.

Mr Tacdera explained: ‘As we officially kicked off this project from Kraft Eden, we commissioned a chef from Manila Hotel to create a full-course meal that featured cheese from appetisers, to main course, to desserts.’

Kraft Eden are also organising the first ‘Keso de Gallo’, which will see people attempt to use the cheese to create a feast for families who have been affected by the recent Ondoy and Pepeng typhoons and may not have the resources to celebrate this Christmas.

World’s Tallest Living Christmas Tree – Couer d’Alene Resort

“This year we are animating the world’s tallest living Christmas tree,” said Jerry Jaeger, president and co-owner of Hagadone Hospitality. “We will have thousands of lights all twinkling in time to the music of Jingle Bells.”

The tree will have more than 40,000 lights along with a 10-foot star at the top. Two miles of electrical wiring connect the LED lights, which use 90 percent less energy than conventional light bulbs. The 162-foot Grand Fir is more than twice as tall as New York’s Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.

“The Holiday Light Show is all about entertaining the family – and kids in particular,” said Bill Reagan, general manager of The Coeur d’Alene Resort. “Watching the lights dance around the tree will be very exciting this year.”

Other new additions include several new lighted animal characters at The North Pole, which already includes Santa’s workshop, dancing elves, a village scene and reindeer, as well as the popular “Twelve Days of Christmas” sing-along display. Founded in 1986, the Holiday Light Show now includes more than 250 displays and 1.5 million lights, and has become a favorite Northwest holiday destination.

This year, Frosty the Snowman debuts as the official greeter for every nightly Journey to the North Pole cruise, confirmed Craig Brosenne, general manager of Hagadone Marine Group, which manages the Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises fleet.

This year’s show will be greatly enhanced by the presence of Frosty the Snowman, who will greet every kid climbing on board,” Brosenne said. Other new live characters this year will be The Grinch, several elves and a reindeer.

Every child under the age of 12 rides for free on the Journey to the North Pole Cruise, where children are also treated to a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The live characters call out the children’s names and lead cruise passengers in a countdown to light up the giant Christmas tree. Passengers are also treated to “magic snow” which falls on cue for each cruise regardless of time or temperature.

The show will be illuminated during the Coeur d’Alene Holiday Light Show Opening Ceremony on Nov. 27, starting at 5:30 p.m., which includes a lighted parade, Christmas carols, candle lighting and a gigantic fireworks show over Lake Coeur d’Alene.

Journey to the North Pole Cruises depart nightly to view the Holiday Light Show displays from Nov. 28-Jan. 1. The 40-minute cruises leave the dock at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with boarding at The Boardwalk Marina 15 minutes prior to the cruise. Children 12 and under cruise for free, while adult tickets cost $15.75 and seniors (55+) are $14.75.<.p>

For 2009, The Coeur d’Alene Resort welcomes visitors with a Family Holiday Package that includes:

Its amazing feeling to say that now Rajkot is knocking at the ‘Guinness World Records’ An enthusiastic Boy, Nikunj is presenting Rajkot at ‘The Guinness World Records’ Nikunj Vagadia (M.com, M.Ed, D.E.M) 28 Yrs. Old, Event Manager is very Well known for his ‘Largest Collection of Miniature Books ’.

He is a ‘National Level Record Holder’ for the same collection in the ‘Limca Book of Records’ for the year 2006 as well as 2009. He had applied in the ‘Guinness’ six months back, now Guinness accepted his record proposal as a new Guinness World Record and permitted him officially for the record attempt. 158 Lens Camera sets Guinness Record

This looks more like some device that would give Geordi LaForge light therapy than a camera. It was developed at the Nagoya Institute of Technology has been certified by Guinness World Records as sporting the most lenses in the world. 158 lenses that is.

It was built over six months, to capture images of a swaying flame from as many angles as possible. The lenses are in four rows on the body of the device, which is 7.2cm high and 47cm in diameter. Each lens costs $2.10.

Most Coins Flipped Simultaneously world record set by Justin Lee Collins

Justin Lee Collins (JLS) is attempting to break the World Record for coin tossing tomorrow (17.12.09).

The TV presenter is trying to win the Guinness World Record title for ‘Most Coins Flipped Simultaneously’ in promotion of his new show ‘Heads Or Tails’ on Five.

Justin said: “I can’t wait to go flipping crazy and hopefully, we will manage to set a new Guinness World Record – bring it on!”

He added that the actual number of coins which need to be flipped is an ambiguity, and depends on the number of people who come to the event.

He added: “It’s based on numbers, so if we can get a thousand people there, all flipping coins at the same time, I think that will be a world record.

“I’m not sure if there’s an existing record we have to beat – this could be a first.”

The first 100 people to attend the attempt at London’s Covent Garden, from 10am tomorrow will receive a commemorative T-shirt.

The show ‘Heads or Tails’ will give members of the public the chance to become a millionaire simply by guessing the outcome of tossing a coin correctly a number of times.

They will have friends, family and celebrity guests who they can call on to help make simple but agonising choices, on their quest to win £1million.

The show airs nightly for a series of 11 programmes from Dec 20 on Five.

At the tender age of 19 most teenagers are only just beginning to think about their future careers. But Emma Watson is celebrating being named the highest paid actress of the past decade.

Despite being just nine years old at the Millennium her extra-curricular activities playing Hermione in the Harry Potter films have made more money than any other woman in Hollywood.

The wizard franchise and her role in the animation The Tale Of Despereaux have taken $5.4billion (£3.32billion) worldwide, putting her films’ box-office takings ahead of Hollywood heavyweights such as Julia Roberts, Halle Berry and Cameron Diaz.

She also boasts the highest average box office receipts per movie, with each of her films making an average of £554,880,000.

The star topped the poll by the Guinness Book Of World Records.

The accolade caps a remarkable rise to fame for the former pupil of Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford.

Since her first outing as Hermione as a 10-year-old in 2001, she has amassed a £10million fortune and was recently placed sixth on Forbes’ list of Hollywood’s Most Valuable Young Stars.

Watson is currently the face of Burberry Prorsum and has announced that she is creating a fashion range for ethical brand People Tree next year.

She has also emulated the academic achievements of her character Hermione, earning eight A*s and two As at GCSE, and three As at A-level. She now divides her time between fashion and studying art and literature at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

She has refused to abandon her education to become a full-time actress, saying: ‘People can’t understand why I don’t want to … but school life keeps me in touch with my friends. It keeps me in touch with reality.’

She appears in the final film of the wizard series, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, which is split into two films – due out next year and in 2011.

Watson attended the open auditions for the first Harry Potter in 1999, and later admitted: ‘I had no idea of the scale of the film series. If I had I would have been completely overwhelmed.’

Fellow Briton Keira Knightley is the second-highest grossing actress, thanks to her roles in the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies. She starred in 12 other movies in the past 10 years, taking her total receipts to $3.42billion (£2.52billion).

The highest grossing actor of all time is Samuel L Jackson, who has appeared in more than 70 movies, including the new Star Wars trilogy, Die Hard With A Vengeance and Pulp Fiction.

Paa It’s soon going to be officially celebrated as the only bollywood Indian film in the world featuring the father-son duo reversing their real-life roles for the screen.

Real-life father and son Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan are all set to enter the Guinness Book Of World Records for being the only father-son acting duo to have played reversed roles on screen in Paa. It’s also the only instance of a 67-year old actor playing a 12-year old child and a 31-year old actress playing mother to a 67 -year old actor.

Director Balki admits Paa is pretty much a hotbed of unprecedented occurrences. “You know, while casting and all through the shooting, I never sat back to consider the uniqueness of the casting. It was only the people all around me who seemed to be constantly conscious of the casting oddity. To me Amitji, Abhishek and Vidya were playing the roles I had in mind for them from the start. But now, I do see that the casting is exceptional. It hasn’t been done in any part of the world. So yes, plans are afoot to enter Paa into the Guinness book in various categories.”

The necessary moves have already been made and Balki would make sure that Paa gets noticed in the right categories as soon as release of the film is out of the way.

After Paa, he plans to take a bit of a vacation and let his wife Gauri Shinde direct a film for his production house.

“Gauri has been a part of my creative processes for many years now. We got married two years back. The film she wants to make is very different from what I do. Her script has a flavour that’s totally removed from mine.”

None of the Bachchans are likely to figure in Balki’s wife’s directorial debut. But Balki intends to make his third film with the Bachchans, this time making sure that Mrs Jaya Bachchan too has a part.

Pinewood Studio – Worlds Largest Cinema Screen Guiness Record

The Omen and The Shining will be projected onto the world’s largest cinema screen this Halloween at Pinewood Studios’ Drive-In.

For its special winter series of Drive-In movies, Pinewood has temporarily transformed its unique outdoor water filming facility into the world’s largest cinema screen, sized 73.1M wide x 18.3M in height.

Shot at Pinewood’s sister studio Shepperton with a raw, Brit Gothic feel, a US ambassador (Gregory Peck) discovers his son Damian is the antichrist in The Omen. This chilling thriller is so sinister, it is said the production fell victim to a curse due to supernatural forces at work trying to halt filming. Prominent crew members endured flights struck by lightning, a hotel bombing and a severe car crash amongst other shocking incidents.

One of the few genuinely atmospheric horror films staged partly at Pinewood, Jack Nicholson plays the terrifying recovering alcoholic Jack Torrence who takes his family to an isolated, evil hotel for the winter in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. 7ft Amazon Eve – World’s Tallest Glamour Model

A super tall model who goes by the name of Amazon Eve as well as Babezilla, recently was featured in the Australian magazine Zoo Weekly for her first semi-clad shoot for a men’s magazine. Eve, however, is not a true Aussie. She’s actually from the United States, so it may not be long until she’s gracing the men’s magazines stateside.

Eve’s MySpace page indicates that she is 205 to 210 pounds and has an athletic build. She is 6-foot-8-inches tall, rivaling the height of professional basketball players. She is from the Redondo Beach, California area and lists her occupation as “playmate”. On another site she says that she is a personal trainer.

Other than her enormous height, another feature that makes Eve stand out is her fiery red hair. She lists interests as: fantasy wrestling, overpowering, role play, domination, scissors sessions, feats of strength, foot fetish, and tug of war.

Speaking with Zoo Weekly, Eve said: “I am more than willing to overpower men and wrestle or box them if requested. I want my session to be fun yet challenging with the guys, and a memorable session that doesn’t cause injury.”

If you want to wrestle with and be dominated by an Amazonian woman – Eve’s your gal.
