While sitting on Brighton beach (England) back in 2005 with my new girlfriend Verity I suddenly thought the view of our feet pointing out to sea would make a nice photo. Ever since then, we’ve continued to document our travels in this way, resulting in a collection of over 90 photos. In 2011 the series took a new twist with the arrival of a third set of feet – our daughter Matilda.

Legend has it that Nightmares Fear Factory used to be an old coffin factory in Niagara Falls, Canada. The haunted building is now open to the public but you are cautioned to enter at your own risk… The popular walk-through attraction even includes a Chicken List with over 100,000 names on it. If you’re too scared to walk through the entire experience you can yell ‘Nightmares!’ at any time to be safely escorted out (but not without being added to the list). Only the authors of the projects can explain why their buildings are turned upside down. the tiny village of Szymbark adorns one of these upside down houses, by the way, you see it on the main photo. This creative project was completed by a Polish businessman and philanthropist named Daniel Czapiewski in 2007. Typically, his company builds houses in three weeks, but this project took 114 days because the workers were slightly confused by the structural design. Why was it necessary to put the house upside down? Daniel asserts that it is his view on the current state of the world. I can hardly argue with him. But Czapiewski was not the first. Wonderworks Upside Down Building in Florida was opened in 1998. There are also upside down in California, South Korea, café in Japan and so on.
