Phoebe was rescued on 11/12/09 from Tri-City Animal Shelter. She is super friendly and adorable to women, but fearful of men and kids. With proper introductions and once she trusts the man, she can be petted and carried. She will stand and beg for treats. Phoebe is fine being next to men and walking next to them. She may have been teased by a male person before, so she seems to be leary of fast movement from men and will growl at them if they push to be playful or grab her too fast. She will need time to learn to trust nice men and boys with positive reinforcement. She loves playing with other dogs. No cats (will chase). She needs a very experienced adult female guardian. Steven was rescued from a shelter on 11/11/09. He is very friendly, spunky, sweet and eager to learn. He will stop walking when nervous of new enviroment and linoleum floors (vet office), but with a little encouragement, happy praises and treats he learns quickly. He's good on the leash. He can be carried but a little nervous about it. Will give kisses. He is great with other dogs and likes to play. He sniffed the vet office cat and was afraid of the vet office parrot. Kids 12 yrs+. Experienced guardian. More information to come as we learn about him.

Lola is a well trained dog. She can sit, lie down, stay, heel, dance (for a treat), shake and Hi-5. She loves to fetch, her favorite is a rubber frisbee but she loves a good chuk-it and tennis ball also. Her most favorite activity of all time is going swimming, she absolutely loves the water, doesn't matter how cold. However, Lola is an alpha Female, she gets along with smaller or submissive dogs. She loves to wrestle w/ smaller dogs. She doesn't chase cats but loves to harass squirrels. Her previous owner did not have baby so we are not sure how she does with kids. She's very loyal, and loves to follow her people around. Older children, 8+ she's ok with, she will still try to herd kids if they're running around, which means she snaps her teeth at their heels, but she's never bitten anyone. She's a bit shy in meeting new people, but once warm up she is a lover! More information to come as we learn more.

Geena's time was up at a shelter and we rescued on 11/11/09. She is born blind. She is super friendly and cuddly. Very sweet & quiet. Needs another dog to be her eyes and for comfort. She is very alert to your voice and sounds. She loves to be next to you (carried or on your lap). Need help to teach her where her food and water bowl is. She needs a forever home with another gentle dog and experienced adult to handle and care for a blind dog. Need a very stable home for her so she can learn her way around. She is a very brave and a good little girl who needs a special home. Meanwhile, we will be searching for a blind dog sanctuary home for her.

Critter 09-3619 - DOB: 09/02/09 - was found at a day old out on the street and turned into one of our vet offices. He was bottle fed in a home with other cats and dogs, so he's not sure if he's feline, canine or human. He loves to run and play, but when the day is done he likes to find a nice spot around his Mom's neck and sleep.

Colin was rescued on 11/5/09 from a shelter. He is very friendly, happy and lovable. Will sit for treats. Need leash and basic training. He was very dirty and matted, so our groomer had to shave him down. Colin can be petted all over and loves a brisk walk/jog. He was good being handled by the vet and groomer. Seems eager to learn and cooperative. He will greet and play with nice dogs that he likes, especially small dogs his size. He might be a little nervous of big dogs. No cats. Need experienced Cocker Spaniel guardian. Kids 12 yrs+ is best. More info. as we learn about him.

Diesel is friendly and needs lots of daily exercise and space to run. He knows his basic commands. Good with kids. No cats. He has lived with other dogs. He needs a family who will take him along on their adventures/hikes. He loves to be with his people. Tank is a neutered male pug mix approximately 3 years old and weighs about 12 pounds. Tank is a handsome little dog, and he knows it! He has a beautiful, shiny black coat and very pretty tan markings. You will understand why his foster children named him “Tank” when you meet him!Tank enjoys going on walks, does very well on leash, and loves to have people admire him. He is a one or two person dog and bonds very loyally. He loves to roll over on his back and have his belly rubbed and is frequently discovered in this position in case someone is available for a rub. Tank gets along very well with children, cats and other dogs. He would prefer a household with one other small dog, or would even do well in a house where he was the only dog. Tank does not appear to like crowds and enjoys a quieter environment. He loves to follow his "people" around and is the first one up on the couch for a cuddle. He is up to date on all vaccines, is microchipped, de-fleaed and de-wormed. Tank and his sister/mother were surrendered because the owner couldn't keep them in his rented apartment. He has been in foster care since mid-April and his female companion has since been adopted. Dollie is a spayed female chihuahua mix approximately 4 years old and a bundle of energy, all 8 lbs. of her. Dollie is a darling little girl with lots of love to give. She is well mannered, easy to manage, and has a very kind heart. She gets along just fine with other dogs, cats and especially children. Her favorite place is your lap, but if that's not available, she loves soft fuzzy blankets and cushy dog beds. Her most appealing trait is her frisky, vivacious and energetic playfulness. She is a “party girl”, and a big tease to play with her humans, with dogs twice her size and even with her 70 lb. foster big brother. She also likes to gently play with her squeaky toys. She has adorable silky ears and brindle markings on her face, legs and feet. Dollie would make a really wonderful and faithful little friend for someone willing to give her a chance. She has been vaccinated, microchipped, de-fleaed and de-wormed. GUS, ID# A065681 arrives at the shelter on 10/06/09. Gus is the greatest little guy and everyone loves him! He is a calm, sweet dog and he will talk to you when it's real important. Like if it's time to go for a walk or if you are stopping to chat too long while walking him....well it's his walk after all. Gus will tell you in an almost human voice what he wants! He is just adorable and his voice is never too much, he is normally a very quiet dog! He walks great on his leash, loves to sit on your lap and he has greeted every other dog he has met along the way with a happy wagging tail! Gus has a lot of life and love to give, he is just in the middle of his chihuahua years! He would do best in a quiet home with someone home a lot. And since a calm home would suit him, children 13 years and over only.

Pickachoo is social, playful and friendly. Adorable. He is a happy little boy. A little timid and shy of new places and fast movement but once he knows you he's fine and very cuddly. Can be carried. He loves to gives you kisses and loves to follow you around. Great with other dogs and wants to play. He's polite to other dogs and cats. He is more comforable with another dog in the household. Kids 12 yrs+ (since he will try to jump up to kiss and bump your lips if you are kneeling. We are training him not to do that).

Lulu and her buddy were both a hairy mess when they were abandoned. The shelter bathed and groomed them and now she looks adorable. Her girlfriend dog buddy was adopted. We rescued on 10/28/09 since the shelter ran out of cage space and her time was up. She is timid alone but friendly and sweet. Scared of fast movement. Poor Lulu misses her dog buddy. She is happier and more confident when she's with another dog. Adult home, maybe kids 14 yrs+, with another dog in the household a must. More info. to come.

Nellie was rescued on 10/19/09 from a shelter where she was scared in her cage and was there for weeks. Once out, she is very friendly and sweet. Good with other dogs and plays. She hates the crate/cage (who can blame her) and will whine/bark when she sees you, but will settle. She sniffed the vet office cat and seem to be timid of the cat. Most likely trainable. She loves to run and zoom around. Need daily exercise and basic training. More info. to come.

CoCo is approximately 9 to 11 yrs. old. She was left abandoned and tied to a pole with a note "Need new home" at a shopping center. She is a sweetheart, very friendly and loves to stick close to you. She is affectionate and gives you soft gentle kisses. She is well behaved, quiet and easy going. Walks well on leash. Ok walking near another dog, but does not want to engage. No cats since she will chase. A home as the only dog is ideal or another gentle dog that will leave her alone. She seems fine sitting next to another dog and eating treats. She would be your most devoted companion and best friend. Coco needs short vacation home with no other dogs in the household when her foster home goes on trips.

Tail Waggin' Walk, Autumn Paws 2009–a Waggin' Success! View this photo album! See event detail and sponsors. FFR's October, 17th–7th Tail Waggin Walk & Appreciation Picnic hosted by all volunteers was a big success. It was a sunny and fun day for hundreds of people and dogs (many alumni dogs). Walkers enjoyed a fun warm-up to music and relaxing 3K walk around beautiful Lake Elizabeth. Afterward, they got lot's of goodies/treats from 20 booths, watched Search & Rescue and Frisbee Demo's, won awesome Raffles and Silent Auction items, ate Pizza, Pumpkin Pie and lot's of goodies, got their dog's photo Portraits, and participated or watched the Howl-loween & Dog Show Contests.
