Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so, starting at the beginning and working my way through the book, I picked one chapter a week and performed an excerpt for you. It was mostly from the synopses, which is where I think the real humor of the book lives, but from time to time, I worked in some things from the other parts. Last week's episode (episode 13) was sort of a bonus "clip show" that contained little bits from every chapter in the book.

Three important things:

Memories of the Future, Volume One is available right now! Woo!

These podcasts were not excerpted from an audiobook. They were recorded specifically for the Memories of the Futurecast, and differ significantly from the printed book (thanks to the powers of improv). I'm not sure if I'll do a full-length audiobook, yet, but I'm open to the idea.

Did I mention that you can get your very own copy of Memories of the Future, Volume One, right now, for $19.87, or as a $10 DRM-free PDF?
This week should be Datalore, and it should be the end of the first series. However, I've been having so much fun with the podcast, I wanted to extend the magic by one week, and try something new and different: I went through the manuscript, pulled out stuff that made me laugh, made me smile, or a little of both, and put together a "highlights from things that have happened so far" show. I also put some Datalore in there, so if you were holding your breath waiting to hear me go "WHEEE!" you won't be disappointed.

I'll be honest with you: I'm not sure my idea worked out the way I thought it would. This will either be an awesome episode, or the worst. episode. ever. Oh well, at least I took a chance and committed to it, right?

The Memories of the Futurecast works hard to earn its [EXPLICIT] tag. You have been warned.

This week's theme music probably has an actual name, but I know it only as That Song With The Pinball Machine Where They Count To Twelve on Sesame Street.

This is probably a good time to encourage you to support public broadcasting. KCET is my PBS affiliate in Los Angeles, and I <3 them.

This week, we're saying THE BIG GOODBYE.

No, no, don't worry, that's just a clever way of saying the episode's title. We're actually saying goodbye next week.

I know I left something important out of the podcast when I recorded it yesterday, but I figured I'd just mention it in the notes. It's been about 18 hours, though, and I forgot what it was. So if you can spot the thing that's missing, you're one step ahead of me.

I mentioned John Rogers' blog. Here's his post-game entry on my episode, The Two Live Crew Job.

I encourage you to buy the DVD and the soundtrack, but in the Venn diagram of life, I imagine that there aren't a whole lot of people who are in the Futurecast zone, but not the Dr. Horrible zone. If, for some strange reason you are one of those people, I am happy to introduce you to the magic of Dr. Horrible, but sad that you don't haven't witnessed the magic firsthand before now.

It's time for Memories of the Futurecast.

Memories of the Future, Volume One, covers the first 13 episodes of TNG, so each week, I'm choosing something from one episode, and performing an excerpt for you. It will mostly be from the synopses, which is where I think the real humor of the book lives, but from time to time, I may work in some things from the other parts.

Three important things:

This does not mean the book comes out in 13 weeks. It comes out much sooner than that. In fact, it is available right now! Woo!

These are not excerpted from an audiobook. These are recorded specifically for this podcast. I'm not sure if I'll do a full-length audiobook, yet, but I'm open to the idea.

Did I mention that you can get your very own copy of Memories of the Future, Volume One, right now, for $19.87, or as a $10 DRM-free PDF? Okay, just checking.

Episode Notes:

The Memories of the Futurecast works hard to earn its [EXPLICIT] tag. You have been warned.

This episode's theme music is about 25 seconds of Dancing The Night Away by The Motors. I'm pretty sure it's okay to use it the way I did, but if it's not, I'll be happy to remove it and replace it with 25 seconds of me making fart noises.

This week, it's time to play HIDE AND Q! The elm tree on the parkway is safe, and you can't go into backyards across the street.

That story about the LHC I mentioned is in the New York Times. (Stupid registration may be required.)

I think the artwork is finally embedded in the podcast. It requires one additional step, but I'm happy to do it because you're worth it.

Memories of the Futurecast doesn't have artwork embedded in the post any more, because it has its own blogitty-blog-o-bloggy-blog-blog.

Memories of the Futurecast is just under 17 minutes this week.

Memories of the Futurecast is 14.2 MB this week.

Memories of the Futurecast has way too much fun ringing the bell.

Memories of the Futurecast is delighted to have 955 subscribers (according to Feedburner.)

Memories of the Futurecast wears rainbow suspenders to the deli on Friday mornings.

Memories of the Futurecast does not have the K'lap. (Ding!)
