Summer is right around the corner—and in junior golf, that means one thing: it’s go time.

This is the stretch where players separate themselves. Not because they suddenly become someone new, but because they show up prepared. The ones who took care of business in the spring are the ones who step into summer confident, aggressive, and ready to perform.

Let me be clear on this—your technical work should be done by mid-May.

That doesn’t mean you’re perfect. It means your swing thoughts are simplified, your fundamentals are in place, and you trust what you’ve built. Summer is not the time to rebuild your swing. Summer is the time to compete, score, and win.

Lock It In Now… So You Can Let It Go Later

Right now, your focus should be tightening everything up:

Clean fundamentals

Clear feels and keys

Confidence in your ball flight

Once we hit mid-May, we shift gears.

Less mechanical thinking.
More reacting, competing, and scoring.

The goal?
Step on the first tee this summer and feel like you’re ready to fire on all cylinders.

Use the Longer Days to Your Advantage

Summer gives you something you don’t get the rest of the year—time.

Longer days = more opportunity.

But here’s where most players miss… they hit more balls, but they don’t get better.

Be intentional.

Get in extra reps—but make them purposeful

Spend time on your weaknesses

Build a short game that travels under pressure

And most importantly…

Get On The Course and Learn How to Score

You don’t learn how to shoot low scores on the range.

You learn it on the golf course. This summer, prioritize:

Playing more rounds

Practicing on the course (not just the range)

Learning how to manage your game

Go out and test it.

Figure out:

What shots show up under pressure

Where you miss

How to recover and save shots

That’s how scoring improves.

Make It Competitive. Make It Fun.

Some of the best growth happens when you’re just out there competing with your friends.

Play games:

Match play

Up-and-down challenges

Putting competitions

Create pressure. Keep score. Talk a little trash.

This is where confidence is built.

And confidence is everything.

Compete Regularly—That’s Where the Real Growth Happens

If you want to take the next step, you have to compete.

That’s where Future Champions Golf comes in.

At FCG, we’ve built a platform where players can test their game against top competition in a fun, high-energy environment.

From local events to our biggest stages:

The FCG International Championship

The FCG Callaway World Junior Golf Championship

The FCG National Championship

These are the events where players rise.

You’ll compete against players from all over the world, gain exposure, and most importantly—learn how to perform when it matters.

This Summer Is Your Opportunity

Every summer creates momentum.

The players who:

Prepare now

Compete often

Stay consistent

…are the ones who walk into the fall with real confidence—and real results.

So ask yourself:

Are you still working on your swing?
Or are you getting ready to compete?

Because summer is almost here.

And when it arrives…

It’s time to go.

Shelton State Community College made history this month as President Dr. Jonathan Koh and Athletic Director Cara Crosslin hosted the college’s first‑ever Spread NED Symposium, a groundbreaking event that united survivors, caregivers, medical professionals, student‑athletes, and community leaders under one powerful message: No One Fights Alone. What began as a vision quickly became a transformative gathering filled with emotion, honesty, and hope — and it culminated in a surprise Friends of Jaclyn (FOJ) adoption for young warrior Will Roberts.

The heart of the event was the leadership behind it. Dr. Jonathan Koh, known for his forward‑thinking approach and deep commitment to community engagement, was the driving force who brought the symposium to life. Koh recognized that the Spread NED movement — rooted in survivorship, storytelling, and solidarity — had the potential to create a meaningful impact far beyond campus. He personally invited leaders from across the region, ensuring that voices representing pediatric, adult, and rare cancers were included. His vision was simple: create a space where people could share their journeys and feel supported, understood, and uplifted.

Under Koh’s guidance, the symposium became more than a panel discussion. It became a healing space. Attendees described the event as “powerful,” “moving,” and “a reminder of what community truly means.” Stories of resilience echoed throughout the room, each one different yet connected by the same thread of courage.

Working alongside him was Athletic Director Cara Crosslin, whose leadership and heart were evident in every detail of the day. Crosslin coordinated student‑athletes, coaches, and staff, ensuring the event reflected Shelton State’s values of compassion, unity, and service. Her ability to bring people together — and to make families feel welcomed and embraced — elevated the entire experience.

Crosslin also played a central role in the day’s most emotional moment: the surprise FOJ adoption of Will Roberts. As FOJ founder,

I announced that Will would be adopted by Shelton State athletics, Crosslin stepped forward to lead the ceremony. The room erupted in applause as Will and his family were welcomed into the Buccaneer family. For Will, it was a moment of joy and recognition. For the athletes, it was a reminder of the profound impact they can have beyond the field or court.

The adoption embodied everything the Spread NED Symposium stood for: hope, unity, and the belief that every child deserves to feel supported and celebrated. It also marked Shelton State as the first college in the nation to host a Spread NED event of this kind — a testament to the leadership of both Koh and Crosslin.

In recognition of their extraordinary commitment to advocacy, compassion, and community leadership, Dr. Koh and Cara Crosslin have been named the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation’s “Future Champions of Golf NEDvocates of the Month.” This honor reflects their dedication to elevating the voices of families battling cancer and their willingness to lead with heart.

In a world where cancer touches nearly every family, the Spread NED Symposium offered something rare: a gathering where stories were honored, communities were strengthened, and hope was shared freely. Thanks to Dr. Koh and Cara Crosslin, Shelton State has set a new standard for what it means to lead with purpose — and to stand beside children and families when they need it most.

San Diego, CA — 4/6/26 — A new era in college golf recruiting has arrived with the launch of CAMPUS, a first-of-its-kind platform designed to help junior golfers stand out by showcasing more than just scores.

Built by leaders in the golf and technology space, CAMPUS introduces a modern approach to recruiting—one that prioritizes athlete identity, video communication, and data-backed matching over traditional stat-driven profiles.

Unlike legacy recruiting platforms, CAMPUS enables players to connect directly with college coaches through personalized video introductions, allowing athletes to present who they are—not just how they score.

“For years, recruiting has been reduced to rankings and tournament results,” said Alex Weber, Co-Founder of CAMPUS. “But coaches don’t recruit spreadsheets—they recruit people. CAMPUS combines performance trends, academic alignment, and real-world context to show athletes where they truly fit—and where they can contribute right away.”

At the core of the platform is CAMPUS’ proprietary matching system, which evaluates players based on a combination of performance data, academics, and program fit—helping athletes identify schools where they truly belong.

In addition to player profiles, CAMPUS provides tools designed to simplify and enhance the recruiting process, including:

– Video-first outreach to college coaches

– AI-powered college matching insights

– Recruiting dashboards and communication tracking

– Educational resources and mentorship access through current and former college athletes

The platform was built in collaboration with Co-Founder Chris Smeal, Founder of Future Champions Golf (FCG), one of the largest and most respected junior golf tours in the world.

“We’ve worked with thousands of junior golfers over the years, and the biggest challenge has always been visibility,” said Smeal. “There are so many talented players who simply don’t get seen. CAMPUS changes that by giving every athlete a real voice in the recruiting process.”

CAMPUS is now available to athletes worldwide, providing full access to its suite of recruiting tools, insights, and communication features designed to help players take control of their recruiting journey and connect with the right programs.

With a growing network of athletes, coaches, and academy partners, CAMPUS is positioned to become a central hub for the next generation of college golf recruiting.

About CAMPUS

CAMPUS is a modern college golf recruiting platform designed to connect junior golfers with college coaches through video, data, and personalized matching. By focusing on the full athlete—not just their scores—CAMPUS helps players find the right programs and take control of their recruiting journey.

SAN DIEGO, CA — April 2026 — Future Champions Golf (FCG) is excited to announce a new video series in partnership with one of YouTube golf’s most recognized creators, Mr. Short Game, who will be competing in Future Champions Golf Tour events across multiple age divisions as part of a new content initiative designed to showcase junior golf and continue growing the game.

The series will begin Saturday, April 4, 2026 at the FCG Kids Tour event at Welk Resorts, where Mr. Short Game will compete in the 7–8 division. The series will continue throughout the year as he attempts to compete — and win — across multiple age divisions on the Future Champions Golf Tour.

A Full Circle Moment with Future Champions Golf

What makes this series especially meaningful is Mr. Short Game’s long history with Future Champions Golf. Years ago, he spent many weekends caddying for his own children at Future Champions Golf tournaments, creating family memories and watching junior golfers grow through competition.

Matt Fisher, known online as Mr. Short Game, grew up in San Diego and played collegiate golf at San Diego State University, and has long been a supporter of junior golf and competitive tournament opportunities for young players.

In a message to Future Champions Golf families, Fisher shared:

“Having spent many hours caddying for my kids on the golf course, I am grateful for the great memories that the Future Champions Golf Tour provided for our family. Having grown up in San Diego myself and playing for San Diego State University, I love supporting junior tournament tours that prepare our kids for competitive golf and provide a place for enjoying this great sport.

I’m filming a series where I compete in the Future Champions Golf Tour, and I’m hoping together we can make a great video series and help support the Future Champions Tour along the way.”

This series represents a full circle moment, returning to the same tour where his own kids competed — this time to help showcase junior golf to a global audience.

A Huge Platform to Showcase Junior Golf

Mr. Short Game’s YouTube channel has grown into one of the most recognized golf content platforms in the world, with over 500,000 subscribers and more than 100 million video views. His content reaches golfers across the United States and internationally, making this series a major opportunity to showcase junior golf and the Future Champions Golf Tour to a global audience.

Through this series, viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at junior tournaments, competition, course management, pressure situations, and the incredible skill level of today’s junior golfers.

Showcasing the Next Generation of Golf

Future Champions Golf hosts over 200 tournaments annually with players from across the United States and more than 40 countries worldwide, and continues to grow as one of the largest and most competitive junior golf tours in the world.

This new video series will:

Showcase junior golf tournaments and competitionHighlight the talent level of young playersBring more exposure to junior golf globallyInspire younger players to compete and improveProvide entertaining and educational golf contentHelp grow the game of golf

Quote from Chris Smeal, Founder of Future Champions Golf

“We are very excited to have Mr. Short Game out on the Future Champions Golf Tour filming and competing in our events. This is going to be a fun and exciting series, but it also serves a bigger purpose — showcasing junior golf and how much the game has grown over the years.

The talent level in junior golf today is incredible, and this series will give people a great look at what these young players can really do. We believe this will inspire more kids to play competitive golf and help continue to grow the game.”

About Future Champions Golf

Future Champions Golf is headquartered in San Diego, California and operates one of the largest junior golf tours in the world, hosting over 200 tournaments annually and providing pathways for junior golfers to college golf, major amateur championships, and professional golf. Players from more than 40 countries compete in FCG events each year, including the prestigious FCG Callaway World Championship, FCG International Championship, and FCG National Championship.

A Small Habit That Builds Discipline and Better Putting

One of the simplest habits I try to teach junior golfers is this:

Bring a towel to the green every single hole.

It sounds small, but this is one of those habits that separates organized, disciplined players from the ones who are always a little unprepared and a little rushed.

Clean Ball = Better Putting

A dirty golf ball will not roll the same as a clean golf ball.
It might bounce, skid, or come off the putter face inconsistently. If you’re trying to become a great putter, you should never hit an important putt with a dirty ball.

Tour players clean their ball almost every green. There’s a reason.

If you want to play college golf or high-level junior golf, you should start building the same habits now.

It’s Really About Discipline

This isn’t just about the golf ball.
This is about routine and discipline.

Great players are organized.
They do the same things over and over.
They don’t rush.
They don’t forget things.
They look prepared.
They act prepared.

When a player walks to the green with:

Putter

Towel

Sometimes wedge if needed

You can already tell they are thinking ahead and managing the course well.

Build a Green Routine

Here’s a simple routine I recommend:

When you walk to the green:

Bring your putter and towel (and wedge if you might chip).

When you mark your ball, clean it immediately.

Look at your putt from behind the ball and behind the hole.

Take your practice strokes.

Step in and commit.

Do this every hole, every round, every tournament.
Consistency creates confidence.

Small Habits Become Big Results

A lot of players think improvement comes from:

New swing tips

New clubs

More range balls

But a lot of improvement actually comes from:

Better routines

Better decisions

Better discipline

Being more organized on the course

Bringing a towel to the green every hole is a small habit that builds discipline, routine, and professionalism.

And the players who look and act like good players…
usually become good players.

Start this habit in your next round.
