By Bobby Hoppey
GM Social Media Intern

In today’s episode, we have the opportunity to hear from Ryan LaFontaine of the LaFontaine Automotive Group. Ryan is the general manager of a new GM dealership in Highland Township, Michigan that is gaining notoriety for its progressive, multimillion dollar approach to sustainability. Learn from Ryan what goes into running a new kind of dealership - one that has received a major certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

After listening, please feel free to comment about the topics we cover. Let us know how a shift in environmental responsibility from dealerships might factor into your future vehicle purchases. I’m eager to hear your thoughts.

PODCAST: Everyday Green Tips

By Bobby Hoppey

Nowadays, it seems like green is the new black. While many of us advocate for environmental stability, talking often is easier than action. However, that doesn't necessarily need to be the case.

For my first Chevy Fuel Solutions podcast, Adam Denison and I will share simple, cost-effective green tips that we found to be particularly noteworthy. Today, our inspiration comes from “100 Ways to Save the Planet,” an e-book from LifeGoggles.com. We encourage you to check it out - you may be surprised by what you find.

After listening, feel free to comment on the suggestions we’ve made, and tell us about the measures you’ve taken to “greenify” the world around you. We look forward to hearing from you!

In our last three episodes we talked about some things GM and Chevy are doing to help reduce our dependence on petroleum, but in today's episode we focus on something every driver can do. In today's episode I speak with Peter Lord, Executive Director of Service Operations, about some steps we can all take to improve fuel efficiency in our vehicles through our own driving habits. I actually learned quite a bit from him in our brief conversation, and hope you will too.

Adam Denison
GM Social Media Coordinator

Happy Earth Day, everyone!

Welcome to the first installment of the Chevy Fuel Solutions Podcast. We figured Earth Day was the perfect time for us to launch a podcast dedicated to showing our listeners what Chevy is doing to make our vehicles go from gas-friendly to gas-free.

As some of you may know, Chevy is leading the charge in GM’s environmental initiatives. We hope this podcast will highlight some of the efforts the company is making to diversify our fuel needs, and just be more environmentally friendly. Some of the topics we will cover are:

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicle

E85 and cellulosic ethanol explained

GM and Chevy’s hybrid lineup and plans for the future

Improving the internal combustion engine

Electric vehicles

Common green myths

Recycling tips

Going green on a shoestring

Those are our thoughts for some topics, but what do you think? What would you like to hear us discuss? We may not be able to accommodate every request, but we’ll sure do our best.

In today’s episode Cheryl Catton, Chevrolet’s General Director of Car Marketing, discusses Project Driveway, a real-world market test of Chevy Equinox Fuel Cell vehicles powered by hydrogen. Take a listen, and let us know what you think.

By Adam Denison
Coordinator, GM Social Media

While none of us would ever think of having to endure some sort of crisis like a natural disaster, there still is a great need for us to be prepared. In this episode (our final episode of the OnStar series) we speak with Jack Colley, the Chief of The Governor’s Division Of Emergency Management at the Texas Department of Public Safety. Wow, what a title!

Chief Colley was gracious enough to offer some tips on things we all can do to prepare for an emergency situation. Here a few links he references in the show:

Federal Emergency Management Agency

Department of Homeland Security

Texas Department of Public Safety

Thanks for listening to the podcast and have a happy and safe holiday season.

And as always, you can download the podcast feed, too.)
