 The 911 Black Edition isn’t only distinguished from standard 911 Carrera models by its paint colour. The most prominent exterior highlights are the forged 19-inch 911 Turbo II wheels with a two-tone finish that complements the discreet elegance of the exterior colour. They provide an unobstructed view of the brakes, with black, four-piston aluminum monobloc calipers. On the engine compartment lid, a chrome “911” badge replaces the standard “Carrera” lettering.

Opening the door reveals stainless-steel door entry guards emblazoned with Black Edition type. Naturally, the interior continues the exterior colour scheme. An extended list of standard equipment features a SportDesign steering wheel (including shift paddles for the optional PDK transmission), aluminum-look trim on the dashboard, gear lever and air vents. The rear centre console is painted in the exterior colour.

 The 911 Black Edition comes fitted as standard with Porsche’s popular Comfort and Infotainment option packages. It thus includes rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, heated, power seats, a 13-speaker, 385-watt BOSE® Surround Sound-System with universal audio interface, 13 loudspeakers (12 in the Cabriolet) and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with a GPS navigation module.

 Under the rear lid is the same 3.6-litre flat-six engine fitted to the standard 911 Carrera, producing 345 hp at 6,500 rpm. Coupled with the six-speed gearbox, this output enables the Black Edition to achieve a top track speed of 289 km/h. The Coupé reaches 100 km/h from rest in 4.9 seconds, while the Cabriolet takes 5.1 seconds. Despite the impressive performance figures, fuel consumption remains moderate: Transport Canada’s combined fuel consumption ratings are just 9.4 L/100 km for the Coupe and 9.7 L/100 km for the Cabriolet when fitted with the optional PDK double-clutch transmission.

The 911 Black Edition enjoys all the same technical special equipment options that are offered for the regular Carrera models. First and foremost, the Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) allows the Black Edition to execute superior acceleration times and instantaneous gear changes while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption. Responsiveness can be further enhanced by the Sport Chrono Plus package, which adds a launch control function and an ultra-fast racetrack gearshift strategy.

 Both sportiness and comfort can be enhanced yet further if so desired. The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system allows drivers to switch between two stiffness settings and provides a 10-mm ride-height reduction for a sportier look. Coupe buyers can go even further with a PASM sports chassis, which features a 20-mm ride height reduction and a mechanical rear differential lock. To further optimise braking performance, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are also available.

 All of the extra features of the 911 Black Edition come at a very reasonable price: $92,800 for the Coupe and $104,200 for the cabriolet. As such, they represent unprecedented value; to equip a standard 911 Carrera with the equivalent option packages as well as the same exterior and interior enhancements would cost over $7,500 more.

A: Nissan Canada has recently announced that the LEAF Basic Warranty Coverage is 36 months /60,000 kilometres. The Powertrain Coverage is 60 months/100,000 kilometres. The Lithium-ion Battery Coverage is 96 months/160,000 kilometres.

Q: The Electric car is a great thing! Will your recharge stations be powered by solar or by city fed electricity?
A: Nissan is not directly responsible for setting up infrastructure for charge stations. We do however encourage governments and companies to foster a large network of charging facilities.

Q: Do leaf owners have to get the charging station installed in their home? I was thinking I could forgo that and just use local charging stations... assuming there are some in my area.
A: Nissan strongly recommends that you install a home charging dock. We believe that most people will want to charge the vehicle like their cellphone – at home overnight.

Q: Will the LEAF be available in automatic and manual transmision?
A: There is no transmission in an electric car, but the experience is like driving an automatic.

Q: How much would it cost to charge the car at the charging station. Any ideas?
A: The national average for Canada is $0.0938/kWh. That means the average cost to charge the car would be $2.25 from 0% to 100%.

Q: Will the battery overheating be an an issue for extended periods of driving?
A: The design of the car will ensure the battery is safe from leaks and overheating.

Porsche took the hybrid technology behind its 911 GT3 R, coupled it with the design of its 918 Spyder racer, and came up with the single-seat mid-engine coupe 918 RSR. This hybrid combines 555 hp from its V8 gasoline engine with an additional boost from electric motors on the two front wheels to give it peak drive power of 767 hp.

These motors rely on power generated during braking and stored in a flywheel that spins up to 36,000 rpm. When the driver needs an additional boost in power, he or she simply presses a button inside the cabin and this in turn kicks in the electric motors. This additional power is available for around eight seconds when the system is fully charged. The two electric motors also offer a torque vectoring function with variable torque distribution to the front axle. This additionally increases agility and improves steering response.

Coverage
Coverage is concurrent with the 36 month "Basic Warranty Coverage" regardless of mileage and expires after 36 months from the vehicle purchase date unless purchased in conjunction with the Mazda Added Protection warranty package.

Covered Services

• Tire Service and other Road Service (labour performed at disablement site).
• Service Calls (deliver of fuel, battery boost and winching).
• Towing of disabled vehicles is covered to the nearest Mazda Dealer up to 100 km, or to the Mazda dealer of choice if within 50 km of the nearest Mazda dealer (one tow per disablement).

Road Service Reimbursement
In the event a service other than the Mazda Roadside Assistance Program is utilized we will reimburse up to a maximum of 200$ for towing and up to 100$ for other disablements.

Emergency Lock-out Service
When your ignition key is lost, broken or accidentally locked inside your vehicle, call the Mazda Roadside Assistance Program and service will be dispatched. If circumstances require you to use an independent lockout service, we will reimburse you up to 100$. Emergency Travel Expense Reimbursement Should your vehicle become disabled due to collision or mechanical breakdown while you are more than 100 km from your residence address we will reimburse you up to 300$ for reasonable emergency expenses (when not covered by insurance).
