Fong-Chin Su and Tain-Song Chen from Taiwan’s National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Department of BioMedical Engineering (BME), has developed a robotic vehicle that is designed to get the wheelchair bound person up on their feet.

The “i-Transport” is powered by a “field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chip containing a Nios II multi-core processor.” It can calculate whether the vehicle’s current load or configuration is safe for the user. It also has a built-in health monitoring system that tracks the user’s breating and blood pressure.

The robotic vehicle allows the users to roam around and stand up, with its mechanism that lifts them upright to a standing position when needed. The vehicle’s seat shifts from a horizontal to an “almost vertical” position, it’s padded harness supports the user’s lower back. The ride also features shinpads and handlebars at the front.

“The invention is definitely a boon for the physically challenged people,” said a student who tried out the i-Transport at BME.

It helps them do their daily tasks easier and gives them the mobility that they need.

The mini-copter will be offered for private security use.

The robot mini-copter is a flying surveillance camera. It features numerous sensors that works with SECOM’s different security systems. It is equipped with LED spotlights that takes clear pictures, even during nighttime. It also has a built-in GPS that allows the robot to only patrol a predetermined area.

Once an unauthorized vehicle or person enters robot’s patrol zone, it will automatically go near the subject and take a picture and quickly send the image in SECOM’s security center. With the help of its onboard sensors, it avoids getting knocked down by objects or any suspicious person, by constantly maintaining a distance.

The unique theme park is found in the rural area of northern Gunma Prefecture. It pays homage to all things bicycle. The park also showcases a unique bicycle collection and also hosts road races and other cycling events.

One of the park’s rollecoasters, called the “Rolling Mountain” features pedals and tires that lifts the riders up the trail. The coaster reaches speeds comparable to that of a standard bike and is a good cardio workout.
