1. HTC One V

The HTC One V is a music phone with Beats Audio technology and it is being touted as the masculine counterpart of the HTC Rhyme. Word is that specs will include Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich version), a 3.7-inch touch screen display, a 1GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and even a 5-megapixel camera with the ability to capture 720p HD videos. Clearly, HTC is aiming for the mid-tier range with this flagship gadget.

2. HTC One X

The second One series phone is the One X, which is code named as the HTC Endeavour or the HTC Edge. The news of this phone had leaked earlier and rumors were circulating on the internet. Now it looks as if the rumors were true.

3. HTC One XL

According to the sources, a third HTC One phone, the One XL, is in the offing. Probably a relative to the Sensation XL or a bigger version of the One X, the One XL apparently comprises of a dual core high frequency CPU, efficient RAM and a high-end camera.

However, all this is mere speculation as no other details except for the name of the device has been currently confirmed.

4. HTC One S

This is the final phone in the One series, which has been confirmed to be launched at the MWC. It was earlier code named Ville.

4. HTC Sensation XL

Equipped with one of the most powerful processors available for Smartphones, the HTC Sensation XL also boasts of a powerful 8 mega Pixel Camera that is capable of providing mesmerising picture quality as well as offering high definition 720p video recording. The phone is priced at Rs 38,800.

5. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

The Xperia Arc is a sleek model from Ericsson that comes with an onboard 8 Mega Pixel camera that has the resemblance of the Cybershot series of Smartphones that were so popular in its era. The phone also offers 720p high definition video recording and is priced at around Rs 29000.

2. Spice Mi 280

It is a noteworthy pick among the contenders in this race as it is the only phone in this competition to feature the Android OS along with Wi-Fi internet.

Lava has made the B8 one of its most interesting models to date and has equipped the phone with features like a 3.2 Mega Pixel camera, 16 GB expandable memory slot, Java support, Push mail, accelerometer, motion sensitive music player software, powerful and long lasting batteries and many more.

Most importantly the phone offers Wi-Fi internet connectivity. The Lava B8 is priced at just around Rs 3500 which makes it a very economical choice.

4. Samsung Chat 527 S5270

This is a premium phone in this segment if we look at the features offered in it. Samsung has equipped the Chat with 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPRS connectivity in addition to a memory slot that can be upgraded to a maximum of 16GB and boasts of a 2 mega pixel camera as well.

The Chat is priced at Rs 5600 which seems justified since it is a premium phone from a world class mobile phone maker.

5. Spice QT68

Spice did not feel it safe to sit there with just one affordable Wi-Fi model and hence it launched the Spice QT68 which comes with Wi-Fi, expandable memory, Bluetooth and FM radio. The phone is priced very affordably at Rs 3700.

A rather small player in the mobile industry, Gigabyte is most probably well known for its computer components. However, it is always welcome to see a new Android phone in the market.

What is it?

Leaked just before its expected launch at the MWC 2012 in Barcelona, the GSmart G1355 from Gigabyte is an Android smartphone with dual SIM support. It’s not exactly what you would call a high-end smartphone but it still has a couple of things going for it.

Design & Features

• It comes equipped with a 4.3-inch WVGA display featuring a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
• The Gigabyte GSmart G1355 will measure 11.5mm in thickness and weigh nearly 170g which is kind of a bit on the hefty side even for a phone with a fairly large screen.
• In terms of software, the GSmart G1355 will of course be running on Android 2.3 operating system (Gingerbread version).
• Powered by 800 MHz single-core Qualcomm MSM7227T processor and supported by 512 MB of RAM and Adreno 200 GPU along with 1 GB of ROM.
• It sports a 5 megapixel rear camera complete with autofocus and LED flash.
• It boasts of 1 GB on-board memory which can be increased up to 32 GB with the help of an external microSD card slot.

Even though there is no official word on the pricing or availability, the GSmart G1355 is expected to hit stores by the end of February.

Even though the Archos Arnova 9 G2 does not belong to the hi-end league, it is easily one of the cheapest functional tablets around. It is now available for online purchase at a mere price of $230.

This is just what the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) foundation has achieved by unveiling the OLPC XO 3.0 kids Personal Computer. The OLPC XO 3.0 is in fact a tablet PC that has an 8 inch display screen. Though the complete specs have not been released yet, we got a glimpse of its key features and here are those lined up for you:

The Tablet comes with a PixelQi TFT display which offers a splendid picture resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and the screen size which measures at 8 inches is in no way small as you can comfortably watch any form of multimedia content in it.

Since the Tablet is meant for the little ones, the memory is somewhat limited with internal memory summing up only to 512 MB. However, you get a Micro SD slot to enhance it further if you need more space.

The connectivity slots on the device is abundant as it offers USB slots, Micro USB slots in addition to standard audio and microphone jacks.

The OLPC XO 3.0 is expected to be powered by either a proprietary OS which OLPC labels as Sugar OS targeting specifically at the kids or it may sport any of those Android derivatives which are in fact ruling the techno world as of now.

The Tablet might not be a pleasure for the eye in terms of design aesthetics but its funky looks are sure to generate interests from the younger generation. The muscular build also ensures stability and strength of the materials used. The rubberised lid acts as a good protection agent in case of mishaps such as slipping off from your hands.

As far as kids are concerned this is a perfect combination of fun and substance. You don’t expect a kids PC to be as powerful as a Laptop or Desktop meant for adults. The high portability of the device makes it even dearer and the best part of the device which we have not revealed yet is that it is priced around Rs 5500 in India which makes it very affordable as well.

The Tablet segment in India witnessed an unusual boom with manufacturers from all nooks and corners of the planet making their entry into the portable computing market. What was initially a two faced competition between  Apple and Samsung has now evolved into a new horizon wherein more than a 100 different models from over 20 manufacturers have started taking the market by storm.

The Android OS is without a doubt, the reason for the spurt in tablets spanning almost all price segments. The Le Pan 3 did not go elsewhere for an OS as it also shipped its model with the latest Android 4.0 Ice-cream Sandwich OS.

Both the tablets are expected to feature big screens which might eventually reach 10 inches in size though we don’t have exact confirmation on the resolution and similar stuff like that. No word is out regarding the pricing of either models but if the company wants to make a dent in the Indian panorama they ought to make the correct shots otherwise they might end up as untold stories among the several ones that already clog up in the Indian technological saga.

So these 2 models are all set to enter the Indian market and the competition might as well keep an eye out because if they get the pricing on spot, then there is no stopping Le Pan from conquering the hearts of Indian Tablet PC enthusiasts. Wonder why the company is still tight lipped about the prices, maybe they want to give another shock to the competitors.

Other Features

There will be two ways to input or access the laptop – the standard keypad and also a touchpad. The standard Bluetooth communication is nothing new compared to other laptops. These sparkly crystal-studded Samsung Series 9 laptops were first displayed by QVC at the IFA last year. Finally, the date has arrived when gadget fans get to place their orders. However the final product price is yet to be revealed.

This limited edition product is the modified form of the previous generation Samsung Series 9 laptop. The Korean manufacturer, Samsung, had originally introduced the next generation Samsung Series 9 laptops in CES last year. This is a highly aesthetic and trendy gadget with crystals sprinkled onto the surface of the lid. The users might love it but they will have to compromise on the low end of the models, probably for a higher price.

However Apple’s main rival Samsung did not want to sit idle and watch as Apple gulp a majority share in the premium smartphone market. The company came out with the Galaxy Note to compete against the iPhone 4S and today we check out how these two fares when they have a face to face duel.

On the display front it is definitely the Galaxy Note that has the better of the competition as it boasts of a humongous 5.3 inch full touch screen display that is capacitive in nature as compared to the 3.5 inches of the iPhone 4S.

The Note also has a Super AMOLED screen that is much brighter and sharper than the LCD screen of iPhone 4S. The Galaxy also offers more powerful resolution as compared to the iPhone. However in terms of looks, the iPhone 4S is definitely the charmer as it is almost half the size of the Galaxy Note and is lighter by a large margin.

Apart from the size proportion, the other features turn the tides in favour of the Galaxy in a lot more ways than one. It packs in a powerful 1.4 GHz processor and a large 1GB of RAM to offer superlative performance standards. The iPhone does not lag in performance but is equipped with a smaller 800 MHz processor and comes with an onboard 512 MB of RAM. The Note is powered by the Android Gingerbread OS whereas the iPhone is powered by the all new iOS 5 which is needless to say, one of the most advanced OS in the planet. So that is definitely a plus point for the iPhone.

On the camera front, both the phones offer powerful 8 mega pixel cameras that offer 1080p high definition video recording and as such there is pretty much nothing to separate them apart.

If you consider the application support, then it will be difficult for anyone to judge the best as both the android market as well as the Apple App store offer tons of applications that are both free and paid in nature. However apps in the Apple App store are less prone to malicious content as they are strictly censored and tested by Apple before being put up for download in the app store.

The Galaxy Note offers more stand by time whereas the Apple iPhone 4S offers more talk time. Connectivity and internet options abound in both and include, high speed 3G access, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, USB, HDMI, GPS and AGPS.

The Galaxy Note is definitely the economical choice of the two as it comes with a price tag of Rs 29,999 whereas the Apple iPhone 4S 16 GB version starts retailing from around Rs 42000 making it an exorbitantly priced choice.

So for the time being we can judge that the Galaxy Note is a far more economical choice as compared to the iPhone 4S, but as Apple says “ If you don’t have an iPhone, well you don’t have an iPhone”.
