Nokia has been try hard to cash on in the opportunity in the tablets market which is currently exploding with endless possibilities. We have come across a patent that was filed by Nokia way back in 2011 about a device whose description possibly sounds like that one of a tablet with a cover and a keyboard:

An apparatus including a first section having a display; and a second section movably connected to the first section. The second section forms a cover for the display. The cover has a first portion and a second portion movably connected to the first portion. The first and second portions are configured to cover different portions of a front of the display. The second portion is pivotably connected to the first section by the first portion. The second portion has a keyboard thereon.

What we feel is that although Nokia might not be actively pursuing this tablet but also we cant deny the fact that a Windows 8 tablet is missing from Nokia’s portfolio when its competitors like Samsung, LG and HTC already have good tablet offerings. Take a look at these pictures taken from the patent:

After conquering the high-end smart phones segment, Samsung is clearly trying to leave a mark in the Phablets segment (Phablet = Phone + Tablet).

Owing to the success of A116 Canvas HD, Micromax is soon going to launch another Canvas device called the A115 Canvas 3D. Well, it is well known that Micromax was not really ready for the kind of demand A116 Canvas HD had brought out. Micromax had to order another shipment of the same device based on these additional and unfulfilled orders. Now this is past and Micromax is riding a wave of the “Canvas” success.

Micromax A115 Canvas 3D pictures

We have been hearing that Micromax plans to launch another equally capable and feature-full device called the A115 Canvas 3D. Micromax has not officially given any hint about this new device and it comes as a leak. Let us now take a look at the expected specs and features of the Micromax A115 Canvas 3D:

Will have a 5-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with 3D support and a display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels

Will be powered by a 1GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor

Has 1GB of RAM

4GB of internal Storage and is expandable up to 32GB by microSD cards

The phone is said to have a 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording

For video-calling this is a 2-MP camera at the front which is really great!

Runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system

Micromax A115 Canvas 3D pictures rear view

There has not been any words about the device or the pricing about the Micromax A116 Canvas HD but looking at the specs of the device we can expect it to be priced at around Rs. 16,000/-. Canvas 115 3D is said to be the successor of Micromax A110 Canvas 2 3D.

Micromax is planning to launch an all new phone in the market called the A72 Canvas Viva. Well, looking at the name, we have a feeling that Micromax is going the Samsung way by naming all its upcoming phones based on the success of one its Canvas smartphone devices. Samsung does the same with its Galaxy name tag!

Micromax Canvas Viva A72 Pictures

Well analogies apart, the Micromax A72 Canvas Viva looks like a solid offering from the company with features like Dual-SIM support, 5-inch display screen and a massive 1GHz processor. With such a huge screen the phone definitely falls into the Phablet category. However, the device does not seem to have 3G! If you remember Micromax was being accused by many mobile aficionados of artificially creating a demand for its last Canvas mobile phone.

Let us now take a look at the specs and features of the Micromax A72 Canvas Viva smart phone:

5-inch capacitive touch screen display with a display resolution of 480 by 800 Pixels

Powered by a 1 GHz processor

Runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS. This is definitely a big turn-off.

Has just 256MB RAM which explains the reason for why the phone has Android 2.3

110 MB internal memory which is expandable upto 16GB with a microSD card

Thickness: 10.6 mm

Weight: 186 grams

Dual SIM capability

Camera Options: 3MP rear camera and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera for video calls

Other features: 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio

Connectivity – 2G (EDGE), Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, micro USB, NO 3G

Powered by a 2000 mAh battery

The Micromax A72 Canvas Viva Dual Sim Smartphone is expected to be priced at around Rs. 6000/- You can buy it from Flipkart.
