Art is part of the human spirit. As we evolve, art will continue to define us. If we don’t adapt we won’t survive. New ideas, aesthetics and partnerships will assure our survival.

We—FutureSelf, the Gallery of Contemporary Art and THEATREWORKS—are going to prove it to you.

Enter Flaunt: Evolution. On September 12, 2009, artists and community organizations are going to put on the show of their lives – under the Colorado Avenue Bridge. You’ve seen the event before. Flaunt is in its third year, but you’ve never seen it like this. With new partners, new energy, and the knowledge that only the fittest will survive, this is evolution.

Artists participating in the one-night-only exhibition will create works that emphasize life, growth and sustainability. The ideas and projects they present here will encourage evolution in our community, in our ideologies and in our arts organizations.

It’s important, but it’s also really fun.

This is a celebration of visual and performing arts in Colorado Springs. And, though we hate to boast, if anyone knows how to throw a party – it’s us. FLAUNT: Evolution is the next Big Bang.
