Before the retail release of Descent: FreeSpace, a number of Alpha and Beta versions were shipped to various testers and magazine editors in order for them to get a preview of what’s coming, plus it allowed them to advertise the coming game. There was a lot of unique gameplay content in the Beta and the Alphas—of which there was a total of two; content that was not included at all in the released versions of the game or was changed to the point of unrecognizability. Some of the Alpha-only content included things such as unique ships—the Shivan cruiser Caldera and the Terran cruiser Juggernath—and unique dialogue deepening the storyline.

Some graphics decisions unique to the Alpha are, amongst other things, a completely different HUD with shield integrity as exact percentage instead of graphics, a different pilot stat screen with your current fleet affiliation on display and totally different pilot appearance graphics, different POF models and mission backgrounds including multiple planets

Bruce Jun Fan Lee (November 27, 1940 – July 20, 1973) was a Chinese martial artist and actor. He is most famous for making martial arts popular in the United States in the 1970s, when he played in a series of movies made in Hong Kong, which were very successful all over the world. The most successful of these being ‘Enter The Dragon’, which was released after Bruce’s death. He died while filming a movie called, ‘Game of Death’. During the height of his popularity (almost 20 years later his son, Brandon Lee would die while filming a movie, too). Lee also taught other people martial arts, like actors Steve McQueen and James Coburn and basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, he also inspired many other actors who are famous for using martial arts in their movies including Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Chuck Norris. Jackie Chan had a bit-part in ‘Enter The Dragon’ and Chuck Norris co-starred in Way of The Dragon. In 1993 a film about Bruce Lees life was made called Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. Most of the film is true but some parts are made up.

Bruce starred in The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, The Way of the Dragon, Enter the Dragon and Game of Death.

The film opens with a scene from Bruce Wayne’s past; Bruce, playing with his friend Rachel Dawes falls into a well and encounters a group of bats, triggering a lasting fear of them. The film then cuts to the present, showing an older Bruce languishing in a Chinese prison until Henri Ducard offers that he undergo martial arts training with an elite vigilante group, the League of Shadows (led by Ra’s al Ghul). Cutting back to his childhood, the young Bruce Wayne accompanies his parents to a production of Mefistofele, however, when they leave early, a man named Joe Chill mugs and kills Bruce’s parents with a pistol. Chill is later arrested that same night. Several years later, an adult Bruce returns to Gotham City from Princeton University, intent on killing Chill, whose prison sentence is being suspended in exchange for testifying against crime boss Carmine Falcone. Before he can act, however, one of Falcone’s assassins kills Chill. When Bruce tells Rachel about his foiled plan, she is disgusted. Bruce confronts Falcone, who tells him that he is ignorant of the nature of crime, so Bruce decides to travel the world for nearly seven years to understand the criminal mind. He is eventually detained for theft, leading to the detainment Ducard found him in. In the present, Bruce completes his training and Ra’s states that he plans to have Bruce lead his men to destroy Gotham, believing its corrupt state to be beyond saving. As a final test, Bruce is asked to execute a criminal. Bruce refuses, and instead sets the temple on fire; Ra’s is killed in the process though Bruce rescues an unconscious Ducard from the wreckage and leaves him at a nearby village.

Finding Gotham ruled by Carmine Falcone, Bruce quickly plots against the city’s corrupt system with the help of Rachel, now an assistant district attorney, and police sergeant Jim Gordon, one of the few good cops left in Gotham. Using resources from Wayne Enterprises, Bruce acquires a prototype armored car and an experimental armored suit. In his first night, he disrupts a drug shipment, and leaves Falcone tied to a searchlight, forming a makeshift Bat-Signal. He also disrupts an assassination attempt on Rachel, leaving her with evidence against a judge on Falcone’s payroll. While investigating the drugs in the shipment, Batman is stunned by Dr. Jonathan Crane, an Arkham Asylum psychiatrist working with Falcone, who sprays him with a powerful hallucinogen. Bruce’s butler Alfred Pennyworth rescues him, using an anti-toxin developed by Lucius Fox to save him. Crane later poisons Rachel after showing her that the toxin, which is lethal in vapor form, is being piped into the city water supply. Before Batman can ask further, the police swarm Arkham to arrest Crane, and Batman escapes with Dawes in the Batmobile. After administering the antidote to her in the Batcave, he gives her two vials of it for Gordon — one for inoculating himself and the other for mass production

The first title’s biggest claim to fame was its full 3D graphics engine, used for the first time in a football game, although other games had used a 3D field, players were commonly still 2D sprites but in Actua Soccer players were polygonal. Actua soccer featureed only national teams, with squads of 22 players from each of 44 national sides, However a follow up version with English Premier League teams named Actua Soccer: Club Edition was released in 1996 using 20 players from the 20 Premier League teams from 1996/97. The Actual Soccer match engine was also used to display matches in Premier Manager 64

The game takes place on a fictional continent containing the six lands plus Death Heim. Fillmore a plained area which is lightly forested. The acts are a forest, and a underground cave. Bloodpool which has a large central lake surrounded by marshes. The acts are the lake, and a European styled castle on its shores. Kasandora a desert with mountains to the north. The acts are the dunes of the desert, and an Egyptian styled pyramid. Aitos a mountainous area with volcanoes present. The acts are a mountain scape, and the inside of a volcano. Marahna a chain of islands in the southeast corner of the continent. The acts are a swamp, and a southeast Asian styled temple. Northwall a land frozen in ice at the north of the continent. The acts are a snowfield, and a large tree. One more area the player must visit to complete the game is Death Heim which is a single mount surrounded by effigies of Tanzaras guardians.

As the game progresses the Master recovers his power by rebuilding the civilizations of his people. During this time many citizens of the Master’s civilizations speak to him through prayer. In this way the Master learns of special offerings that the people have for him, and hears the requests and troubles of his people. By fulfilling their requests (which always requires the Master to fight monsters at some point) the Master is able to allow each civilization to become as prosperous as possible. One of the Master’s final favors to each population is to rid some location in the region of monsters by having the player complete one of the side scrolling action stages. The final boss in each of these six stages is one of the six guardians who serve Tanzra. After each guardian has been slain the region of Death Heim becomes available to enter for the Master.

Death Heim is the final side action sequence the player completes. It contains no side scrolling levels, only a sequence of boss battles. The player fights in turn each of the six guardians and then finally battles the demon Tanzra (who has two forms). After this final battle the world is rid of Tanzra and his followers, and the Master’s people can continue to build their civilizations in peace.
